I don't expect a lot from a grocery store, and I've never written a review for a grocery store even though I have shopped in them weekly for decades. But the assistant manager? Manager? I have no clue who this disgusting person was but he has no business working with people ever. I went to the store bought $156 worth of groceries & after putting my groceries in the trunk I checked the receipt. I was double charged for an item. It was pouring down rain but I "adulted" and made myself go in to get my refund (a whopping $4.99, but it was $4.99 I did not spend). The woman behind the counter is ALL KINDS of not mentally equipped to do her job. She asked me more than once if I only purchased one? I said yes each time. The item was hard boiled eggs. But all of a sudden it occurred to me I also got regular eggs, maybe it just showed up like this? I'm thinking maybe I wasn't overcharged? So I mentioned that and looked at the receipt and said oh no that isn't it the eggs are Lucerne and the receipt clearly states Wilcox hard eggs. But now the woman is fixated that I wasn't charged for regular eggs because she can't find it on the receipt so she told me she spends forever researching the prices and declares she will give me 20 cents back. I said "no, maybe I didn't even get regular eggs (my groceries were in the trunk, it is pouring down rain and I am not going back out there to see if there are regular eggs, and I must've forgotten them). I said no we are not discounting my refund by an amount for something I may or may not have purchased that I may or may not have been not charged for. I told her no we are not doing that I am going to be refunded for the item I was double charged for. So she goes on and on "you said you got regular eggs and you weren't charged for them & this is 20 cents more. I will give you the 20 cents." I said "no I thought I bought eggs, but maybe I didn't? I am here because you 100% double charged me and I am entitled to my refund & I don't even know for sure I got eggs." She is insistent that because I thought I got regular eggs I am not entitled to the full refund. At this point this has gone on for at least 5 minutes or more of absolute nonsense over $4.99. She calls over Mr. Crazy - I don't know if he is a manager but he certainly acted like someone with zero management experience. He immediately without asking me a question or anything tells me I need to calm down (I am not yelling & never did, I was not cursing, I was not ANYTHING except saying you will give me the full refund - BUT NOW... Now I am getting not happy with the way I am being talked to.) He then proceeds to tell me that if I don't stop being frustrated (I can't remember the exact words but essentially that was what he said) then I will be BANNED FROM THE STORE. I said something like I am just trying to get my refund for what was CLEARLY an accidentally double charge. Mr. CRAZY said VERY LOUDLY and obnoxiously "OH YOU HAVE NEVER MADE A MISTAKE?" HE IS YELLING, I am not but now I am mad. I am mad that I have to deal with this situation with 2 people who very clearly have no business working in customer service. I have not done anything wrong, YOUR CASHIER ACCIDENTALLY DOUBLE CHARGED ME AND I WANTED MY MONEY BACK, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Why did YOU escalate this to the point of BANNING ME from the store and humiliating me in front of everyone FOR NO REASON. In my decades of shopping in every store imaginable I have NEVER been treated so hostile for no reason over what was VERY CLEARLY their mistake and it was ONLY $4.99. This happened 2 days ago and I am now writing this, reported to BBB, and am still genuinely upset that ANYONE believes that they should be allowed to treat paying customers in this way. There is zero excuse for this. Mr. Crazy Napoleon complex needs to be banned from whatever his position is because he does not know how to work with customers and is a truly disgusting representation of Safeway. I encourage everyone if you have a bad experience with a Napoleon assistant manager or whatever he is then you report it to corporate too, because this is unacceptable and eventually his behavior will catch up with him. read more

This location just lost a customer. I am currently on a road trip from out of state and I stopped in the parking lot 90 minutes before opening. Dosed off, and minutes later, I have a blinding light flashing in my face from the mobile PD/parking lot surveillance and someone on a loud speaker threatening me. All because I was parked in the parking lot taking a nap waiting for the store to open? Seriously? I won't be coming back here again. This is madness. I go here alot to buy cakes from their bakery, for my patients birthdays. Don't get me wrong it's because it's convenient not because they are good. On multiple times I have felt with terrible customer service in the bakery and at the deli. They are also more expensive then generally everywhere else. This location has a whole variety of Rug Doctor Carpet cleaners and accessories available for rent which is really convenient. You can rent them from the Customer Service desk. They do have a gas station too but it's about a block away in back of and behind the main store in case you have trouble finding it. The parking lot connects to all the shops behind the store so it's easy to get around if you have several errands to run. I often go to this store when I feel like Costco or Walmart are too busy. read more

The Safeway grocery store on Marvin Rd reminds me a lot of the Walmart Neighborhood markets they have around the country. This safeway is nice and clean and quaint. The reason it reminds me of the Walmart Neighborhood markets is that there is everything you need in one place without all the extra stuff like clothes, toys, electronics, garden center and all that jazz. It is also somewhat easy to get in and get out when all you need is groceries. There are a few very nice things about Safeway that I'd like to point out. First, they have a very nice wine section. There are a lot of local wines as well as a few you may have never heard of before and the prices are very reasonable. Secondly, I love the bakery. They always have really good bagels that are self-serve and you can grab as little or as many as you'd like. I can help but grab at least 2 or 3 cheddar bagels. They are super soft, politely sprinkled with cheese and this may sound silly to some, but they normally have a glob of cheese where the center of the bagel normally is almost as a secondary treat to the actual bagel itself. All of the fresh departments are pretty good and there is a pretty nice variety of items in those departments as well as store-wide. There aren't too many items so you get lost, but just enough selection where you can get what you need and get out. I did notice that they offer a lot of name brands and not a huge selection of generic store-brand items. There is a pretty good selection of organic items as well. Also, Safeway is one of those store where you have to have a special card to get the price that they mention as on sale. The sale prices are good on some items and not so good on others. And it is easy to sign up for the card. I really like the selection in the produce section. There are a lot of items that you don't find most places. Again, the prices on some items makes you want to go somewhere else where you can get the same quality but for cheaper. There's a nice floral section and there is a Bank of America branch & ATM on-site. Sorry for the 3 stars, but as many people have mentioned the prices aren't that great, and I find the angled parking in the lot sometimes chaotic when they are busy, people are darting out from the exits, and there are cart pushers everywhere. There is one recently installed stop sign, but it seems everyone has the right of way which makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes. Much easier at Winco. read more

The checker- Brenden, would've been better to work at a prison, or junk yard- Somewhere customer service isn't required . I have never been ignored by a checker and then he didn't even n a say thank You or have a nice daY which at thAt point I expected . My shopping experiences at this Safeway in general have always been more on the pleasant side. The employees have a tendency to be more responsive and friendlier than I have come to expect in most stores. However, I would like to bring attention to one employee in particular. I was looking for a blend of spices and had searched for some time among other stores with poor success. I could not find these spices in this store either, so I asked an employee if they carried any. Since he did not work in that department, he directed me to Raafy, who then proceeded to go far above and beyond the call of duty in order to give me a definitive answer. He first searched the spice aisle, then he went to inquire. He got no results and so, after coming to inform me that he still had one my thing to try, he made another inquiry. The end result was still that I left the store without the spices since they were not in stock, but Raafy made me feel as though my business as a customer was highly important. He dedicated his time and effort to solving my problem or making sure that he had exhausted all avenues for doing so. It is a rare experience in today's world. Christmas day I went in to buy a cake. They were out of what we'd originally planned to get. No big deal, it's Christmas and we have to take what's left. I understand and I'm totally fine with that. After calling to check in with my kids about what they wanted from what is left I looked everywhere to find someone to get it out of the bakery case. A couple of people were cleaning up a spill and I didn't want to disturb them so I patient waited to find someone else. When I finally did find someone they told me they were closed and couldn't get it. I tried to explain it was just a supper quick and easy grab out of the case and would mean a lot to my kids. They still refused. When the check out clerk ask how I was I broke down crying (I DON'T cry). She wanted to help and was blocked by the same person who refused to help the first time. I get that working on Christmas SUCKS. My MIL worked in grocery for 30 years. My husband and I have both pulled shifts on Christmas in in EMS. There is still ZERO reason not to fill a simple, easy thing that would mean a LOT to a family that's had a really hard season. I'm not shopping last minute to be a jerk. I'm shopping last minute because it's been a really hard season. You could have made it MUCH better. Instead, I'm going to go home to crying young kids who don't get their Christmas dessert. My Favorite Hometown Grocery Store!! Every one of Cashiers are nice and customer services are quick to help. Special Occasions like Mother's Day and Father's Day, Florist'll wrap your flowers beautifully! Variety choice for snacks and fruits & drinks etc! I love that they have Bank of America inside of the building, which opens longer than regular Bank of America Branches. Also Safeway itself opens til late night as well! Fine grocery store overall I guess, but the inconsistency of their bagels is really starting to ruin my mornings. Last week they were quite overcooked, I barely even needed to toast them. They let homeless people sit in the Starbucks and they regularly use the restrooms and they are really gross. I tried to take my young son to potty and the women's bathroom was locked and a homeless man was in it, while another homeless man kept staring at me as he was sitting there. This has been one of my favorite grocery store nearby. There's a lot of things I like about at this particular branch. 1. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I remember the very first time I was here, I was paying my items, the cashier asked me if I have a safeway card, I said no and then she asked if I would like to get one and I still said no. She smiled and just reached her keychain and rang her safeway card and then showed me how much I have saved. I thought, that was so nice of her. So, the 2nd time I came back, I was asked the same questions again, and I answered no for both questions. And the 3rd time, same scenario again. I thought, these people are so nice and very hardworking. They take pride in what they do by giving an excellent customer service. So this time, I finally said yes to get a safeway club card. 2. I'm kinda an organic lover, so I was ecstatic when I found out they have fresh organic produce. This is so convenient for me. I don't need to drive further to get these stuff. 3. They have the best cakes and pastries. My favorites are the egg custard, the artisan cake with fresh fruits, tira misu, the eclair. These are sooo good, the best I can have within my reach. You've got to try all these and forget your diet for a moment. 4. I must always have flowers . I believe flowers makes people happier and inspired. They have wide selection of flowers; buy the dozen roses for $12.99, or as cheaper as $9.99 and they do have some arrangements for around $19.99 or more. 5. They sellvacuum sealed fresh frozen wild sockeye salmon fillets. I love this salmon. The price maybe expensive but sometimes you can buy this cheaper if you're a safeway club card members, which I'm glad I did it. I'm a frequent customer! :) read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I went to this store. Everyone complains how long the lines are and it's TRUE! The is the worst Safeway I've ever been to in terms of selection, cleanliness and customer service. This evening at the height of the Christmas shopping season they only had two cashiers open and the lines were very long. When I mentioned to my cashier that he should speak to rhe manager and get more lanes open, he flippanty said he was the manager! He blamed the scheduler on the lack of cashiers. Wow, just wow, gross smoking employees always right outside the door to where you have to walk through a puff of smoke to get in. Carts are usually gross and many buckles for children's seat are broken. Today I bought a smoothie packet got home to notice it had been cut open and then taped to cover it up! To say that this store is badly managed is an understatement. There are never enough checkers, incredibly long lines, rude employees, the world's slowest checkout, and a deli where the attitude is "when can I go home". I have overheard employees talking and have heard that other employees take extensive breaks and take off for long periods of time and no one cares. There is a lot of employee turnover here (wonder why?). The store is very dirty. Other Safeway's in the area are nice - check them out! read more

Love this store, it is always so clean and has the freshest produce with a wide variety of organic options. Their bakery has fresh bread and deserts; while their deli offers some fresh entrees for lunch or diner as well. Also, if you need some flowers or balloons they have a little floral department. I picked up a "Welcome Home" balloon for my hubby. It is still full of air. I like to get my produce here since I make my food for my 11 month old baby. I want him to eat the best food I can find. He loves broccoli and spinach the best! I just made a pot roast for my family that I purchased from Safeway and it turned out really good. I grabbed a big loaf of sour dough bread too. I was in the Marvin Rd, Lacey, Washington store yesterday. I had a 30 minute lunch break and came in to buy bagels and cream cheese. All of the lines were so long it was unreal. By the time I finally get checked out I have only about 5 minutes left to get back to work!! Then when I get my receipt, I notice they overcharged me for the cream cheese. The checker sends me and a bag boy to go doublecheck the price, when we come back and confirm that the price was wrong she didn't even know how to fix the problem, and told me to go to customer service--- but the customer service line was HUGE and at this point I had 2 minutes to be back at work. I told her I couldn't wait in that line, and she tried to get help but multiple other employees simply told me I had to "wait in line at customer service". I was already late for work so I just left. I have never been so frustrated with a shopping experience. The employees were incompetent and nobody was willing to help me. If you have this much foot traffic, hire more employees. And you need to train them better because they don't seem to know what they're doing. read more

11/16/2021 - Wish I could leave negative stars. Just had the worst experience I've ever encountered in a pharmacy, and a HIPAA VIOLATION. Started using this Safeway on Marvin Rd in Lacey a week ago. First tried to transfer a script over and the male tech did not check stock so discovered next day it was not in stock and then still not ordered for 2 more days, of course as I was leaving town. Tried to give another shot a few days later and had my Dr call in 2 scripts. 1 was filled the next day, however an asian female pharmacist (did not give me her name) decided she wasn't "comfortable" filling the second because a "similar" med I filled two weeks prior. No call or contact to allow me time to call my Dr to approve, instead she told me she was too busy and was planning to wait until I came in to tell me. When I explained I took time off work expecting both to be available and had a lengthy drive, I was rudely and abrasively told they were too busy to basically to do their jobs. The aggression happened in front of my 7yr old daughter. I explained that I stopped using the other medication which is why this was being filled, but that was not acceptable to her. Finally my Dr approved and then they told me to wait another 30min, time which I did not have. I left with the one script after practically fighting just to get them to also ring up a handful of groceries that they also attempted to decline with no good reason. Both women working were absolutely lacking in kindness, empathy, accountability and basic human decency. Icing on the cake, I called the store manager and had my husband return 30min later to get the final script and he arrived to listen to the Pharmacist ON THE PHONE MAKING DEROGATORY COMMENTS ABOUT ME, not realizing he was my husband. He called this out to her face in front of the store manager and she still did not have the decency to apologize. At least the manager was human enough to say he was sorry. I'm tired of the excuses about how busy these places are, it is no justification for treating sick patients with utter disregard. SHAME ON YOU!! read more

I love this store. Every time I go in, which is probably 3-4 times a week, the employees are friendly, the store is clean, they almost always have what I need, the prices are decent, what more could you want! I also get my perscriptions filled there. For the amount of times I've visited this store, you'd think I'd have something negative to say about it, but I don't. They even closed and counted out a register for me when I claimed that I forgot my change (I did, and I had no problem getting it back). read more
