Drug testing should be implemented for the workers that run the "Drive-and-Go" service. As much as the service is a great idea this store can't get their act together. If it wasn't for Safeway Gas I'd have moved on to Nob Hill ecart service but it's frustrating that over half the time they screw up orders. read more

Lisa in customer service was super rude. She probably shouldn't be in that position . We came in for a money order and as she was walking up she very loudly ask the girl at self checkout "what do they want?" When she didn't get an answer she looked at us and said "what do you want?" She silently helped us and then said nothing when thanked. When we said goodbye she begrudgingly said "have a nice day". Wide selection of all the food you can think of. Pastry aisle is huge with all every single type of cookie or pastry you can think of. Meatloaf is awesome. All types of meats and everything else. Large drink aisles. Starbucks inside deli has a wide selection also a lot of cold cuts. read more

I went in Monday night around 5pm looking for club soda for my wedding and was sad to see they only stock 4 at a time when I need 20+. I was talking to the Liquor Manager at that time and he offered to put in an extra order of 3 cases of club soda to be put aside for me. On Wednesday when I came back, all the club soda I needed was in the back and the same Liquor Manager (he even remembered me by name!) went to the back and help me get the soda. Please avoid the bakery. I had placed an order 2 days ago. I called this morning to confirm the items were ready. When I got there the cupcakes did not look anything like what I had Ordered. I asked to talk to the manager, they said I had to keep calling the bakery until the manager becomes available. Cant really speak good or bad about this safeway. They have a gas station that I visit frequently, they have whatever processed food you can find, but when it comes to the hand made deli department, their sandwiches are not fresh at all. There has been a handful of times where I wanted to eat a pre made sandwich, or even a sandwich made on the spot, and by the time when I'm close to finishing the sandwich, I want to puke. However, I've never had a problem with their soups or fresh cut meat, just the sandwiches. I remember one pre made sandwich had mold on the bread. Please keep an eye on the quality of the food. I'm writing this review while reallllllly irritated with 2 of the Safeway locations in Morgan Hill right now, so I'm being super "fair" by giving them a 3 Star - after completely annoying me with trying to phone in a birthday cake order. I tried this Safeway a few times and the line keeps disconnecting. The only # that is posted online is the Pharmacy #, and when they try to redirect your phone call... the call gets dropped, and I'm left to try again and again! I finally called and asked for the main # - and when I try to call directly... yep... call won't go through!!! Extremely frustrating! In combination with my next review on the Safeway at Dunne Ave... go there for Part 2 of my saga ;) The last time I was at this Safeway I was also irritated at the check-out. I only had a few items and was in a rush, so I went to one of the 15 items - Express Lane. I picked one that was almost empty and proceeded to put down my birthday cake, and a few other items. The next line over a lady approached at the same time as me. I was looking around, not really paying attention to the customer in front of me... until I realized it was taking a long time. I then notice a huge cart full of items that need to be bagged!!!! And, there is no-one to bag the items but the check-out lady (because it is the EXPRESS lane). So, I wait, and wait, and wait.... while she slowly bags the huge pile of groceries. Meanwhile, the cashier at the next Express lane, not only rang through the lady that approached at the same time... but 3 more people!!!! Yes, 3 stars is VERY fair, when I revisit how frustrated I was with both of the above events. And, actually, I would give them 3.5 stars if I could, because it is a really nice updated, clean Safeway, and the workers are friendly and helpful. I even mentioned something to the next cashier like, "well, I guess you don't really follow the 15 item sign", and she informed me that the "Manager" tells them to put anyone through.... so that sucks! This is a good, clean and friendly grocery store. The meats and produce are fresh. This store is slightly bigger than the other Safeway in town, but with the same good quality selection. I usually search the sale ad before I go to do my meal planning. They also have a Red Box to make a night in more enjoyable. Pro-tip: make sure to use the club membership to save on gas. read more

GAS STATION REVIEW: Whats not to love here?... it's a huge location on a busy corner & you type in your phone number to get the discount if any...& go about your biznaz. The hoses are Xtra long so it doesn't matter which side your gas tank is on you can pull up to any station & pump gas. The attendants are amazing!!!! 5 Stars for them alone..they're friendly & get the job done. Which is cool cause I'm always here as a slave to gas for my hog of a truck. It is off the freeway about 1 mile but this gas station is worth it. read more

well.. I must start by saying that I loved their previous flower lady, Barbara but she has retired this past week and the flowers are starting to suffer a lil' bit. (I miss you Barb)... This is a clean store and they have friendly employees; however their Deli is yucky AND the soup bar is always gross! yuck! and don't get me started on the smell right outside their restroom OMG!!! horrible everyday!!!! Please management make the Deli more presentable your soup bar should be amazing looking and your restrooms should not make me want to gag any time I'm near them... Had a rain check for 10 bags of cat food at the sale price. The Safeway store on Tennant only had 7 bags. When I asked if they could rewrite the raincheck for 3 bags at the sale price, the manager (Cory) refused to allow it and was very rude about it. I know they allow changing the raincheck because other managers never have a problem with this. I feel that customers should be treated with respect, and not treated badly because a certain manager just felt like taking it out on me. read more

OK Safeway, we get it. Your happy we come in to your store. But please, can we just stop with the annoying greetings by every staff member as we walk through the store? How many times do I have to look at someone, who I have no idea who it is, and answer "How am I doing?" 600 times while looking for a box of Fruit Loops, can of Beer and some Ho Ho's. I'm obviously fine, I'm walking, breathing and ready to spend money I barely have, so why do you need to know dozens of times before i even get to the register? Sheesh. But this phoney balony greeting stuff has either got to go, or find a new gimmick please. Let me suggest one, please. How about you ditch the happy on whatever gas your pumping into them mystery greeters, and just lower the price of Milk back down to earth. Or get rid of the seasonal and rotating gift isle for whatever pagan holiday is next, and sell us some quality meat for $1 a pound. Here's another; hire some smokin hot register girls that wear daisy dukes bikini tops on Wednesday, and sell us groceries for 75% off the best Club Price. not only are the employees of this establishment doing a seemingly poor job of doing their... well, job... they are additionally racist. I came in to use the restroom (road trip pitstop to my university) and I not only had to wait for the worker with a white streak in her black hair to stop chatting with her friend on the job, but once done she then turned her back on me and pretended I was not there. When I said "excuse me" and asked where the restroom was, she waved her hand in its general direction and practically grumbled at me in response. Why the low reviews? I love this specific Safeway. There are two in Morgan Hill, but this one is the better one. I don't really buy items from the deli or bakery so I can't really speak for that. But everything else is well organized, the veggies/meat/fruits/seafood = fresh. The people at the meat counter are very friendly most of the time and willingly slice your meat for you with a smile. And getting meat sliced at the meat counter is very helpful! The store is always clean and well organized. The cashiers are also pretty nice and I wouldn't classify them in the "slow" category. I don't see much wrong with this Safeway. So 5 stars to be fair. read more

I ordered a cake and it was definitely not anything close to what I wanted. It seemed as if the bakery staff was untrained and very unprepared. I ordered the cake to be ready at 2. I showed up around 2:50 and the cake had been "messed up" so she had to redo it. The woman made me wait about 20 minutes and showed up with a disgusting excuse for a cake I paid almost 40$ for. It was very uneven and nothing close to what I usually get from this Safeway. I've been ordering from here for years not sure what went wrong. Luckily I got a full refund and ended up buying a different cake that was already made. I'm so glad this didn't happen for a birthday party or an actual event.. So I'm looking around at other businesses that I want to review (BTW I'm just loving this Yelp thing!) and come across this Safeway, the one where I do all of my shopping. I don't have much to say. I like the store (and the location) otherwise I wouldn't be coming here all the time. I have no complaints, they do a good job. I've gotten to know the layout well so I can get in and out about as quickly as I want, whether my kids are with me or not. In bouncing around looking for which business I wanted to review next, I came across this store and read the review that Dylan J wrote below. I haven't bought gas at the station here but reading his experience at the gas station really touches a nerve with me. If the manager of the station really behaved that way, he should be fired. It makes me very uncomfortable to know that my store would have someone that cruel working there. I almost gave the store four stars instead of five because of how unsettled that story made me feel, but I can't as it's not my experience. We asked if the Meat employee was sure and he said he had just verified it. Came back and guess what! Talked to the Meat Manager about it and he said he couldn't honor the promised sale price. I love this Safeway. We are daily shoppers. The staff is amazing. There has been some management changes but they are all still amazing. I had run into a few issues at our other local Safeway and this store made the issue go away. Really do like it here. Nice clean well maintained store. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because there are times the company (I'd guess) removes items when re setting that we used to buy all the time. Always room for improvement! read more

Locked up the emergency exits before they closed, couldn't even push them open. What if there was a fire? Major safety hazard

Grabbed a tankful of gas that brought me 380 miles, to southern California. A tip: the pump area is rather hidden from the direction nearest to the freeway, closer to the corner of Tennant and Monterey. Apparently hoses are supposed to be long enough to reach even the far side of vehicles, but most people seemed to want to wait in the lines to refuel on the "correct" side, or just ignored the signs for the long hoses. Don't forget the phone # associated with your Safeway club card or the card itself; it'll save you a few cents per gallon and often get you gas cheaper than some of the other non-Safeway gas stations. read more

Every time I've gone to this Safeway in particular I've always left saying "this is the last GD time I'm coming here" so I wait a month or two thinking things will be better this time but today was the final straw. I went with my 8 month old son strapped to me and after asking 3 shelf stocking employees if I could please get around them blocking the entire isle and getting either no response and having to repeat myself or getting a groan and eye rolls I finally made it to the check out stand where, with my 8 month old strapped to me, I HAD TO BAG MY OWN GROCERIES. Not until after I was done did the lovely lady behind the counter ask if I wanted help bagging. Not only that but three other check stand/ bagger waddled right past me, looking at me with AN INFANT STRAPPED TO ME BAGGING MY OWN GROCERIES AND KEPT WALKING! To nob hill I go. It is terrible experience at this Safeway location!! They don't have the Lactose free milk on the fridge that I asked them to check inventory at the cashier station. They said they had the milk and I needed a case but they denied to help me bring the milk out. I am pregnant and had to go get them all myself. When I came back to the cashier to pay, they had put all my other groceries back to the shelves. It's ridiculous that their employees prefer to stocking products more than helping customers. They don't even help bagging even I have a huge cart because they have only one cashier ( that's the excuse). read more

This is the most disorganized safe way I been to. I use to love their breakfast burritos but now that it takes 10 min to make one with absolutely no one in line AT 8:15AM!! is ridiculous. The employees seem to hate working there and they ignore customers. At least acknowledged our presence if your busy let us know so that we can continue to feel like were valued as customers.
