My family found this market recently because we were moving family into the neighborhood. First off, the shopping center this taqueria is located in is filled with promising restaurants to visit in the near future. The taqueria has tasty food. My family tried the chili verde burrito, quesadilla, carne asada and carnitas tacos. You have a choice of homemade corn tortillas which of course is a must. Yummy! My favorite was the carne asada tacos. They had a decent salsa selection and fixings for tacos. Everything looked fresh and tasted delicious. My family bought masa to make tamales from the butcher counter and the dried chili, hominy, and other fixings from this market. They are well-stocked with tamale, menudo, or meat selections for your next party! The produce is fresh and they had a store representative cutting fresh fruit for purchase in the produce area. They will soon have a panderia section coming in the near future. I have a weakness for Mexican sweet bread and look forward to this new addition hopefully within the next few months. read more

Customer service here is awful! I went in looking for pico de gallo con repollo and some other basic groceries and literally no one would help me. This is my nieghborhood store. It was a nob hill for years and years and I was totally bummed when it closed but in the last year this place has really improved. Its Clean Nicely lite, and friendly. the meat department is wonderful. they will custome cut the meat and they know what a hanger steak was. the produce is great, the people are nice, the prices are really really good! what makes it even nicer is that is truely a neighborhood store on several occations I have seen one of our council members there and even a San jose county Supervisor, not bad for little morgan hill foods. read more

Depending on what you are going here for, you could find some amazing savings. If you're coming to do regular grocery shopping, don't come here. Their prices are inflated. But if your coming for produce, salsa or guacamole, or seasoned meats, this is your place! It's ridiculously cheap and oh-so-delicious. They buy their produce directly from the farmers market so it's guaranteed fresh. Then it's priced so cheaply you'd be stupid to buy elsewhere. Their salsa is fresh, authentic, and cheap cheap cheap. It's a great neighborhood grocery store. It doesn't have the best or freshest selection, but it does great when you need a quick basic item or a special Mexican item. They have a great prepared meat section. Definitely worth browsing. Also, there's a quick taqueria inside. The prices seem fair, but I don't know what it's really like because it probably go too late, and it's closed. Pro-tip: if you're making a Mexican dinner, make this place your first stop. This market probably has the best carniceria and selection of Latin produce in the area. It's the only carniceria that I will buy my carne arranchera (sp?) and pollo asado meats. At one time, you could buy beef cheeks (cachete) here but they haven't stocked them in a long time, so I've resorted to other sources. I usually buy the already marinaded beef and chicken because they do it so damn well there. All you need is a grill filled with hot natural charcoal (also available there cheap) and you're in taco heaven. I really must say how diverse their produce selection is. On any given day, you'll find those green onions with the very large white bulbs, zucchini blossoms and even banana leaves to make tamales. If you're looking for a one-stop shop Latin market, you've found it. NOTE: I've been going to this market for years and have NEVER smelled anything out of the ordinary. I really have to question the validity of the earlier reviews who mention an offensive odor...especially considering that they are both submitted on the same day. read more

We used to like this place, but our last experience was horrible. Refusing entry for service dog or being rude to the service dog owner is unprofessional. The staff was not helpful and the cashier Valeria needs to work on customer service instead of rolling eyes and arguing with customers. Be careful when you rent tables and/or chairs there because they trick you saying they are going to refund your deposit and somehow they find any little excuse to keep it!! i stopped by this place last saturday and didn't notice any stench. this is a latin market, not an asian one. those markets almost always smell the worst. that said, i'm glad i was introduced to this little diamond in the rough. i work in morgan hill and had no idea this store or the strip mall it resides in even existed. as far as i am concerned, you can see all of morgan hill on monterey. went with my boss to pick up carne asada to make tacos for the cooks at work. i was very pleasantly surprised that this market has a really great selection of south american and caribbean food items and supplies. they also have a beautiful selection of produce. i was able to pick up some coffee (pilon, hells yes) and a few peruvian things before leaving. i'm already planning on bringing a peruvian friend of mine here so she can stock up on stuff. read more

they make fresh guacamole... which is awesome. the steaks are amazingly spiced. people are always nice... even tho i dont speak spanish. food always looks fresh. they have cheap paper towels! beer is cheap. i idont know why people complain about a "smell" ive never noticed one... maybe its cause im mexican. the ONLY bad thing about this is the bathroom. they will let you use it. but its dark up a flight of rickety wooden stairs and there is NO lighting up there. not even the light of my ipod and a 2 liter of soda could have made me pee in that bathroom. read more

I include this store in my my rotation cause what trader joes doesn't have and what safeway doesn't have, I can usually find it here...like tapioca starch, annatto seeds, Huancaína sauce and other random stuff that recipes need..it beats driving to whole foods. There is an odor but I think its the smells of fresh produce and freshly butchered meat. The staff is friendly but are more helpful if you speak Spanish which is kinda obvious. Basically everything Mexican on the isles is cheep but majority of other items in the isle have a poorer selection and high prices. All and all a good shop. If you are in need of Latin products this is your place. The produce is good and I can always find great fruit (guava, sugar cane) that you can't find at your local market. Also they have a pretty good meat selection. Its always stocked and very clean. I come here at least every other week when I need something that is not at my local supermarket. I shop here all the time, it's right around the corner from my house, it's what might be classified as a "mexican grocery store" as it caters to a primarily mexican clientele with the product brands they stock etc. They have an awesome selection of premarinated meats for the BBQ though, their pollo marinado or arrachera is awesome on the grill. I don't do my full on grocery shopping here because some stuff they just can't compete with Safeway on like cereal, cleaning supplies, etc. but if you need all the supplies for a mexican style BBQ or are looking for fresh reasonably priced produce this palce is perfect. read more

I live near this store and have been going to it for years. They have the friendliest group of people working there; the best, biggest, and lowest price fruits and vege's. I went this morning,I fill a large safeway bag with fruit, vege's and a gallon of milk (my usual) and my bill is under $12 !!! Only 4 stars because if you need something packaged, and non-Mexican, there's a good chance they won't have it, or it will be small and expensive. If you need Mexican anything, it has it all! My best buddy buys her meat there. She is used to buying non-packaged meat, I am not. She said it's fresh, tasty and sold at a great price. (There is no strange smell) That post is old, 2009. I think that was back when it had different owners and it was horrible. read more

I really enjoy this store. If you're looking for Mexican cuisine, they have a wonderful selection. Their fresh meats are the best. I highly recommend the carnitas and quesito fresco - the best ever! The produce is exactly what I'm looking for. And they have a wide selection of canned goods. And best of all is the service and the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I don't typically write many reviews but I absolutely had to when it came to the sanitation of this place. It's my second time coming here to buy meat and both times I had to request the manager get involved. I was hoping my second time things would be different but it wasn't. The first time I bought meat the older lady (The Manager's Mom) was mopping with bleach and Fabuloso the meat section. I asked for meat and she didn't wash her hands or put on gloves. She literally walked over to the meat, grabbed the meat with her bare hands and put it in bag and hand it to me. I didn't know what to say because I was in shock. She had literally had her hands on the mop and I couldn't believe what I saw. I walked over to the cashier asked her if that's normal procedure and she stated it wasn't and would speak to the manager. I went in today and this time two ladies were working. The same lady was grabbing different meats with no gloves and throwing them in bags for customers. A second lady walked over from the back where she was cleaning / wiping equipment with rags and asked me if I needed help. I asked if they had specific meat and DID NOT wash her hands or put ok gloves. She asked the other lady for help and she also came over and touched the same meat with her bare hands AGAIN. I respectfully said "Thank you for your help" and walked away. I had to tell the girl at the cash register (a different one) that it was going on. She stated I should speak to the manager and they would give me the meat with gloves on. Again I said "No thanks, just wanted to let you know they are not washing their hands back there after touching cleaning supplies". I will not be coming back and I hope people can be more conscious when they order their meat from here. read more

This store is great. There are tons of fresh produce at excellent prices, and there is a mexican food joint in the back that looked really tasty. The staff was nice. This is an excellent supermarket for many things, and typically I have stopped in here for food ingredients for the simple, home - prepared stuff on my personal menu. It's easy to call over the grocery clerks here who are very friendly, incidentally, for questions on products and different varieties, and it is worth getting to know the store. Not a "Mi Pueblo" - type place, either, and the wonderful people who run this store have saved me with foods and other items several times. It is a really good grocery location and a store that is well - run and well - managed. I also really enjoy the Jarritos. Nice. read more

Shopped here last week. Bought 5 lbs. of beef ribs for a Bar-B-Que. Upon arriving home and opening the package, I noticed that more than a few rib bones were BLACK! That food must have been in the meat case for at least a week. What an insult to the customer! The guys behind the meat counter should be reprimanded for selling that quality of ribs. Instead of returning the meat, it all went in the trash. I wouldn't even feed that meat to my dog! I went to Safeway and bought steaks. NEVER AGAIN WILL I SET FOOT IN MORGAN HILL FOODS! This management is horrible. We are from out of town and plyed in soccer tournament all weekend. So we found this place great pizza My Pizza in this stip mall right, well its Sunday late 5 pm cause Morgan Hill after 4 is late. We see tables b this store empty and move them over by pizza place so we could all sit with the team and eat. OMG...big mistake guy comes out piss off yelling at us and then the mgr of the pizza place whom by way had no9thing to do with us temporary moving 3 EMPTY table by the pizza to eat as a group. The guy even got to point said he wanted them back right now and threw his histy fit. acused us sneaking in hios backyard and STEALING! thats when I said omg all this by the way in front of 115 youngs girls age 11 and 12 and about 10 adults.....really sorry business slow in your place we even said we sorry we hadnt ask first but come on in strip mall next to the other place we had no clue it would be an issue. We had every intention of putting them back even told guy serveral times this! No way I want them back now! Now I see on here place strench horrible, and empty, and rude would not one of the kids use public restroom in store unless they purchase something!! So as or that this place CUSTOMER service sucks!! But My Pizza is awesome, well worth every penny!!! Was giving NO STARS but to post must choose one I guess!!! read more
