While my husband was out walking, he suddenly had a low blood sugar episode and almost fainted. He didn't have his phone with him and was trying to find someone who could help him contact his family. Thankfully, he was able to make it to CVS and met Sujan. Sujan immediately recognized that my husband was not feeling well. When my husband told him that his blood sugar was low and he felt like he was going to faint, Sujan quickly found glucose tablets for him, helped him sit down and rest, reassured him, and called me so I could come and help. I am incredibly grateful for Sujan's kindness, patience, and compassion. He was attentive and genuinely cared about helping my husband when he was vulnerable and needed help the most. We have been using this CVS for our prescriptions, and we feel very fortunate to have such a caring employee there. Thank you so much, Sujan M. Last week, the pharmacy drive-up window was closed, no one in the pharmacy would answer the phone, a medication refill I ordered was canceled without explanation (happened before). I had my doctor send my scripts to Amazon Pharmacy, and they were delivered to my door in TWO DAYS. This is not an ad for Amazon Pharmacy. I mention this because of the comparative efficiency. Imagine not being able to get life-saving medication because your pharmacy is ignoring calls and canceling medication orders with no explanation. I'm done with this place.

There are only two employees running the entire front area, and apparently, that's not enough to get the case opened in a reasonable time. It's disappointing because this store is just a mile from my house, but it's changed so much. The shelves are often bare, and the overall experience has gone downhill. I've been shopping here for a long time. There's one cashier who is frequently there who's always…read morehelpful. I've had mixed experiences with the rest. Today was very bad. I needed to pay a utility bill. I'd done it once before and the cashier was very helpful. He told me exactly what to do and I paid the bill quickly and with no trouble. I went back today and scanned the QR code at the kiosk as I'd done before, but the only options the app offered were to pick up cash, deposit the money in a wallet, or send to an account. This was different than last time, so I went to the cashier. She had no idea at all how to use the system. I had to be somewhere so I gave up and went back later. When I got there, I again went to the kiosk and looked at the website it gave for help. That didn't show how to pay a pill, so I again scanned the QR code and saw the same options. I called the help number. The woman helped me through the transaction and said I should go to the cashier. I did. Same woman, still with no idea how the payment system worked. She said she'd never had to pay a bill that way, which is beside the point. Cashiers should know how the service they offer works. I asked if I could speak to someone who could help me. She said she'd ask the manager to come. A woman wearing about an inch of makeup, white lipstick, and painted-on hair and eyebrows arrived, glowering and chewing gum like a cow chewing her cud. She wore a badge that said "shift supervisor." She gave no indication of being interested in helping. I explained that I'd paid a bill there before but was having trouble this time. She looked online and found the transaction. I handed her a debit card. She said I could only use cash. I said that I didn't recall using cash the previous time, that I thought I'd sent the cash to the store and then they'd paid the bill. She said I could only use cash. Throughout this, no indication of being willing to help a customer, just disdain and chewing her cud. I said the cashier had said she'd get the manager, and asked if could talk to the manager. She said she'd get her. I waited for five or ten minutes and gave up. I've researched how to make this payment, and it appears I need to bring cash to the store. I don't recall doing that last time, but maybe I did, or maybe the helpful cashier directed me to the ATM there and then helped me with the rest of the transaction. Unfortunately, this place is the only location anywhere near that I can make this transaction, so I'll go back to do that, but then never again.

If I ever need to talk to them I "send a message" about that Rx from the CVS app and someone always calls me back, usually within 5 mins, and the longest wait was 30 mins. They're usually really quick to understand and solve any issues too, and the pharmacists I've spoken to are quite personable. After bad experiences with huge impersonal chain pharmacies like big W, I really enjoy this one. Just wish they had a drive through, but I never mind a quick trip though target :)

I decided to get another yesterday before my optometry appointment but when I walked into where the store had been I was surprised to be told they no longer sold assistive devices, that the stores had been closed because of slow sales and were now departments. The nice young women working there had several suggestions for places outside Kaiser to get them. Last night I wondered whether Johnston's in South Berkeley might have them so this morning I called them. They do, but their hours are now 8:30 to 12:00, which doesn't work for me, as I'm up late and sleep late, but I was prepared to suck it up and do it. When I went on Yelp to let them know the new hours, Always Care came up. It's directly across from Picnic and I have driven past it countless times, but it really hadn't registered. I called them and they do have exercise bands, so I decided to stop by today as part of my errands. That's exactly what I did, finding parking right in front. I had stopped by Picnic earlier in my errands and had taken a photo of the storefront from across the street. The door was locked, w/ a sign directing patrons to ring the doorbell, which I did. The owner, Stan, let me in and when he looked down and saw my exercise band in my hand he knew who I was. He brought me a new one, one that was longer and stronger than what I had, which was much sturdier than the bands I had had previously from Kaiser's PT department, so I had assumed mine was about the strongest available. Not the case. So mine has been retired and tomorrow I will start using the new one. If I ever need another assistive device I will most certainly come here. All sales are final, which seems reasonable to me.
