6 years later. I still enjoy shopping at this location. The location is prime with other businesses in the same location. I can get my nails done and shop here afterwards. LOL! In the past 2 months the Safeway at 136th and Meridian has pretty much shut down the service desk. Getting any service has become a challenge. No money orders, nothing. It appears there are fewer staff to help customers. The staff at the deli are grumpy. Has there been a change in management? At this point I will be taking my business to Fred Meyer read more

First, the Safeway Grocery Store is fantastic. This is for the Gas station at that location. A while back, they did an upgrade to the pumps for card readers. Since then, they have never worked correctly. It has been at least 6 months. They say the technicians are working on it, but they are still broken. Now, none of the pumps read cards, have any kind. When you go in, they want you to hand them your card so they can put a $100 hold on the card. But if you use $20, you can't get $80 back to the card. Also, if you go in the store, you can't use your gas points. My advice go someplace else for gas. More to follow. read more

While the store and pharmacy staff are excellent, some checkers need basic training. One spent 10-15 mins talking to his church friend customer in front of me in line. Then forgot to sack some of my items. But best of all was the guest services individual who would be better employed on the view on tv. Grouchy, rude bordering on insulting. This still newish Safeway in the city of Puyallup has been thriving off Shaw Rd and Pioneer for almost three full years with a mega-size parking lot, patio tables in front, indoor tables too and a super spacious layout. I've been to the MOD pizza in the same lot a few times, but this was my first time doing it up at this super grocery store. I was really impressed with the refrigerated products on the far end of the store as well as the full stock of shelves and essentials and those endcap snack deals... Yaaaas golden OREOs... I'll take you for the flight! Impressive craft brew, wine and spirits with the right deals and feels. The quality of produce is great and they cater to a variety of favorites and dietary needs in the area... quite a bit of gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and even vegan products all over Safeway - Puyallup. Being from Los Angeles, California I know mostly Vons and Pavillions but Safeway is where the magic started for this grocer franchise. I must say self-checkout is a win, but even the regular lines are super smooth as they have plenty of staff up front as well as throughout the store for any assistance. Customer Service was mostly warm and friendly with this eerie odd undertone of suspicion that carried over to a few fellow customers as well from the moment I walked in till the moment I left... Which is the only reason this isn't five stars all the way for this amazing location. Note to Safeway - Puyallup and patrons: you should project and treat everyone as a peer and the same, especially without any grounds for judgment or caution other than preconceived bias... And regardless you'll still get nothing but kindness for this shopper. read more

Very clean and a large deli counter selection. Staff always friendly. Meat department is very good. Fresh bakery goods. Parking is a nightmare. Plenty of spaces but cramped with low visibility. Who designed this? At a certain hour in the evening they block and shut down one of the entrances and exits. I assume to curb theft. Isn't that a fire code violation? Can someone PLEASE DO YOUR JOB and fix the gas pumps at this Safeway? It's been 2 months at least that several pumps have defective keypads that do not work at all / fail to connect to the bank / fail to access rewards / and if they get far, still fail anyway. It's like a circus fire drill to get gas at this location, as folk are driving around, backing out, blocking normal paths to identify working pumps. At the very least: identify the problem units, then CLEARLY mark them as out of order in a VERY VISIBLE manner (Like putting cones ON TOP OF THE PUMPS so we don't have to pull up to see a note on a keypad). I'm getting my gas at Fred Meyer now. Your rewards mean nothing if I have to wander thru this defective forest of gas pumps. read more

The Puyallup Valley finally gets a new Safeway! Produce looked immaculate. Great choice of cuts in the meat section. The beer and wine selection could be amped up a little more though. Two thirds of the beer fridge was domestic. Need a better selection of craft brews. Generic selection of spirits, but will find what you're looking for or close to it. Overall happy that us residents off Shaw have a new grocery option. read more

We don't normally shop at Safeway, but wanted to see how prices compared to other grocery store options. While shopping the Safeway app was used to clip the savings on items we needed. At the checkout, the anticipated savings fell short. We had to go to the customer service counter to get the almost $30.00 missed. We had to show pictures of the adds in the isle and the reciept to prove we were owed the money. The person who gave us the credit did not document any of the errors. So that leaves me to think that others are not getting the savings they should and that the advertised savings are just a bait and switch. Safeway needs to fix the system to adjust the prices without going through the extra effort. How many other items are wrong and how people are paying more money than they should???! read more

I love this store! When I come in there's hardly any customers, it's quiet and a big store. It's very pretty! But just like the other one it has a rude ass employees that are just here to collect a check! I get here about 8:30 PM wandered around the store with my phone in my hand googling Asian dressings and no one asked if I needed help. I get to the register and the cashier rings all 3 items i have, after I pay he hands me my receipt and he never stop talking to the other employee next to him! He did not greet me nor did not ask how my day was he did not even tell me my total. As I walked away the guy that bags the groceries dropped his head down and said "have a nice day". I had just moved to Washington almost 2 years ago and moved right up the road from Safeway. I would always spend a lot of my time at that Safeway since it was such a convenience for me and my family with it being RIGHT THERE. I would make all my trips to Safeway and started to love the store. I loved the store so much and it was so convenient that I even applied to work there. Little did I know that I would soon find out the dark side of Safeway. The nasty jokes from the employees, the rudeness and racists customers, hell the rudeness and prejudice employees as well. When making a complaint to management it fell on deaf ears and was basically a narrative of just deal with it or get lost. I got lost and got the hell out of dodge! When I walked away from the job there was no follow up upon why or even trying to make things right. Nope cause 2 weeks later the job posted yet again. They pretty much said if you're not seniority then we really don't give a shit. Not to mention the passive aggressive employees towards black people in the store is mind boggling but yet I seen a Marshawn Lynch or a Russel Wilson hell even an D.K. Metcalf jersey everywhere I turned. But I digress, I will never shop at another Safeway way again. Fred Meyers has better deals anyways . read more

People should be trained in how to make noodles. For the price and what you get, I will never order it again. My other half and I ordered the exact same thing and they looked and tasted totally different. One was brown and the other was white. We were the only two noodle bowls the employee was cooking for and we waited just under 30 mins. The store seems clean and well stocked but the cashiers are the S.L.O.W.E.S.T. E.V.E.R. I don't normally shop here if I don't have to because I know it will be a long wait. Today was a rough day. Nothing, I mean nothing was going right. I left my debit card at home and really needed cash back. I was way out of my neck of the woods when I ran over to this Safeway. I had to drag all of my sleep deprived children into the store with me ( long story, but like I said bad day) I used my digital wallet hoping for cash back. Apparently you can't get cash back with a digital purchase I was stressed and venting when the nice lady behind me thought I couldn't pay for my groceries and offered to pay for them. After I explained I paid for my groceries, just need to get cash back, My kids were being squirly and had me stressing out, I couldn't even properly tell her thank you. I felt so bad, she and the cashier were so nice. We went out into the parking lot and like I said I had all of my kids with me., As we were walking towards the car an older man who was backing up in his truck was not paying attention to anything behind him and nearly ran over me and all of my children. I totally freaked out and started hitting his truck screaming " stop!" because I did not know what else to do as he was nearly about to run plus over, I was trying to block my children from his truck with my body. The man was a total jerk and so was his wife, in the front seat, Never apologized, gave me mean snares, shaking their heads at me and acted as if I had done something wrong. I was shaking by this point I could not even collect myself to think straight. This amazing human being came out of no where, offering to take my cart, and put my groceries in the car for me... the buggy boy. As soon as I got in the car I began crying because despite the terrible morning I was having God placed 2 sweet souls in my path at this Safeway. I wish I could have told this young man what his kindness meant to me. As well as the nice lady behind me at the checkout stand. This Safeway is wonderful! The employees are extremely nice and helpful. We have had a few problems with prices not ringing up as advertised or being charged twice for 1 item BUT customer service has always handled it professionally and kindly. This is our favorite store to shop at. read more

Recently had a great interaction with the store manager, Will. An error on our (the customer's) part left us extremely disappointed. Just like with every bad review it comes down to 1 or 2 bad employees. Had a curbside pick up order scheduled for for 7-8pm. Jason called me at 6:41pm and said my order had to be picked up by 7 as he was off in 15 minutes. When asked about the fact the app and text say 8 he said no its 7. After talking to a very nice manager who said it was 8 and getting to safeway talked with another rude employee (possibly the same one). He answered a business phone as "hello" then got irritated when asked if it was safeway. He proceeded to call me by my full name over and over. Waited 20 minutes for my order. read more
