Worst example of neighborhood store ever! It's always 15 Mins in line...shelves are empty often due to poor mgt

I despise this story and will mostly avoid it no matter what but yesterday I was at the post office, needed a few things for dinner and against my better judgment, went. I found what I needed despite their chicken selection being TERRIBLE. I get in line and the cashier is an older gentleman, he's nice enough but when it's my turn, he spends MINUTES restocking his plastic bag supply without even a word to me (sorry, just a minute....whatever). Nothing. Then he starts scanning items and reaches for a plastic bag without asking if I want that. sorry, no, i don't. I said no, I want paper. Fine. Then some kid comes up and HE is the one that started bagging and did ask. However. He put my chicken (it wasn't in a plastic bag because there ARE NONE in the meat department) and then proceeded to pile all of my other groceries right on top. Including single vegetables that weren't plastic bagged either. Seriously? I just couldn't get out of there fast enough and if I can help it, I won't go back. I find the store dingy, bordering on dirty and the employees most unhelpful. read more

The bakery is AMAZING I get all my cakes here for any occasion. I always get asked from guest about the cakes, there're really that good!! I always get a chocolate cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Good prices as well. read more

This is my favorite place to shop for my groceries. Love their layout and their bakery store is great and baked fresh daily.

You can certainly get a better price elsewhere, but produce, baked bread, and meats are pretty darn good. Don't forget your club card and keep and eye on sales. read more

Went to check out and there was a huge line, next cashier opens a line and says, "I'll take the next in line" I walk over with my one item, and she takes a basket from someone else in line, and says she's taking them. I say, "Okay, guess it's a little longer." She replies, sarcastically, "The rest of you can fight over it." I said, "Okay, if you want to do that, I'll buy this elsewhere" and she said, "UGGH well you don't have to be rude!" I asked for a manager and she said "Why?" I have been a Safeway shopper 0ver 50 years. I have bought gallons of Safeway chocolate milk. But, never again. I don't know whose idea it was to change the formula, but you have made a grievous error. Safeway was the premier chocolate milk on the market!! This Safeway is convenient for me and has everything. Inside they have a Starbucks, which is for this momma a necessity before shopping. The bakery always makes really delicious desserts. I brought home a Dutch Apple pie for thanksgiving and it was huge hit. I have yet to try and fresh baked breads, but I'm positive they won't disappoint. What was surprising to me was that they were open on Thanksgiving day. I felt bad that the employees had to work on that day, but I was very thankful for I had forgotten to buy fresh green beans and bacon for our dinner. Like Raleys, Safeway has a pretty wide variety of wholistic, organic food which I really like because I'm trying to eat healthier and smarter. I think that the lay out can be a tad confusing at first, at least it was for me. They also have a pharmacy located in the back of the store. read more

Clean store, decent brands, nice safe store to buy things at. Now the downside... More expensive, not enough checkers, and today was the second time I have dealt with seemingly deceptive advertising on products in store. In both cases the big print made it look like a great deal, but when you read the small print, it's actually a sign placed in the wrong area. Now, it would be tough to litigate, because it would be written off as a simple mistake, but this same scenario has happened to me twice now. Caveat Emptor! When I am putting out this much scratch for stuff I could get somewhere else, it better be a straight honest deal and chop chop quick... It's only positive at this point is that it is the closest. read more

I tried to just call the store manager, but after 5 minutes of automated menu holds, I was disconnected. So, here I am with my complaint. I bought a Safeway package of sliced turkey from beside the deli yesterday. It had no expiration date. When I went to make a sandwich the turkey was moldy. I had to toss the sandwich and the package. Beware - if there is no expiration date, do not purchase. read more

I ordered food for the first time. I was so surprised. They had a third party deliver my groceries they missed some when I paid for my groceries I did not get refunded for what I did not get. Never do it again. read more

I love this store and will go out of my way to shop here. The cakes from their bakery are the best!

We go to this location to get prescriptions filled. The pharmacy staff is the best you can get. They are efficient and have always gone out of their way to find fills for the particular rx's we need. Sure are glad that all of the rx's were transferred to this Safeway. read more

You would think with so much competition going on Safeway employees would have better manners and customer service to try and keep their company going strong! Too bad management does not read their review then maybe they'll do something about some of their employees! Don't blame the customers when your employees put an item up on the shelf that reads $5. And it's not. (Customers do not read the tags (I'm one). read more

I'll give it three stars because this is not about the whole store. Seems most employees have attitude. Produce person needs to know customer comes first and running one over with his cart doesn't cut it. Bakery lady really has bad attitude. Daughter ordered 24 cupcakes with a design on them. Went to pick up and only four had been done. Told her to do all of them and she charged even more money what a ripoff. On the plus side the girl in the deli was great. read more

Nice clean store with great selection of organics. People at the register are always friendly too and love that their bakery super careful about cross contamination when it comes to peanuts...at least so they say when I expressed the concern. read more

I go here when going to Winco is too inconvenient, or when I need a small amount of items. Even with their "just 4 u" app, prices are very high. Their organic produce selection is pathetic and most of the time, they are out of things like jalapeños - or other normal items one might be looking for. That's annoying. They're also usually out of whatever happens to be a good deal. Tonight they were out of the salsa that was on sale...so I had to pay the same amount for less than half the size. The deli selection is good, so that's why I give them 2 stars. I would give more stars if their checkers were pleasant...ever. Maybe I've just had bad luck at their store...but I've gone to this Safeway a lot and tonight's annoyances were just too much all at once. I wish their was a local grocery store in Sparks with good organic produce, decent prices and friendly people. read more

The produce at Safeway is consistently good. There are cheaper places to shop for most things and I will be the first to admit that I hit CostCo and the likes for much of my shopping needs but Safeway fills a niche for me. I did have a very disappointing birthday cake a couple years ago and hence the 1-star gig on their score. Imagine if you will a birthday cake so inedible that three and four year old children pass it up. That is pretty wretched but that was a long time ago and everything else has been very good since then. read more

This is our family's default go-to store for shopping, and not just because it happens to be the closest to us. Always clean, always friendly, and when they take the cart our to your car, the won't even let you tip. Safeway has a bad rep for being expensive, but we don't find that that's the case. If you get a club card, they tend to have really good deals on a lot of the items we buy regularly. Produce is usually good, but a couple of times has been a bit off. Bakery is great; it's handled a couple of our special-order cakes without a problem. The store never seems to be all that busy, but then, we usually go at off hours like on weekdays or late on weeknights. read more

I have gone to this store several times before and got the same bad service I usually get. Last week I took my kids in to get a piece of candy so we headed to the candy aisle and picked some candy that clearly stated buy 2 get 2 free. So we picked the candy where the sign was located and we headed to the check out. We handed our candy over to the cashier and upon her scanning it, the discount never came up so I brought it to her attention (after entering my phone number), and she sent someone to check it out. That employee came back with the typical excuse; "the sign was not suppose to be there!" I figured they had the common sense to honor the price since the sign was misplaced. Boy was I wrong!! She charged me regular price and refused to give me the sale price. I gave them their candy back and went to Walgreens where I should've have gone in the first place! Will never go back! read more

I really like this Safeway. It is Safeway so the prices are a little higher than the Walmarts of the world. I don't really mind to avoid the crowds and other things Walmart brings. I want to particularly address the florist in the store. They are always great. Every year when I wait to the last second to get a gift they personally help me put something together and make it perfect. And you might think a florist in a grocery store might be lacking but this is not the case. I have yet to be disappointed there. You won't either I'd be willing to bet. read more

The quality shows at Safeway verses stores like Smith's and Save-Mart. The prices may be higher -- I'm not sure they always are --but I'm confident in the choices. read more

i LOVE THE DELI SANDWICHES! They recently brought back the olive spread after they told me it was gone for good, so hopefully it will be around for a while. They also make wonderful bagels here daily. read more

I love Safeway, I am here all the time! It might be because it's so close or that I would rather cook then go out to eat but I love this store. It's always clean, nice people and I get smiles all the time. I have the "just for you" app and it makes clipping coupons easy, especially for how often I'm on my smart phone. I bought a turkey when you spend $25.00 get a signature turkey for $7.99. Well to make a long story short we cooked it today it didn't smell right. And I always get my turkeys there at Safeway. Has anyone else experience getting a bad turkey? There's no dates at all on the tag. Wondering how old it really is. The cat wouldn't even eat it. read more

Shopping here is frustrating, every single time. If I didn't have to come here for the one item they carry that I need, I would not. My blood pressure rises just to walk in the door. Here's why: If the Express is open, there is almost always a line. Oftentimes, the clerk is in no hurry to stop visiting. I'm not the only one complaining! Better to go to Smith's for the self-checkout. I don't really find any more or better products here, anyway. Not sure why this branch is even in business. Please bring back the self-checkout. read more

This store is a little out of the way for me, but the quality is far superior to any of the stores closer to my home. The prices are slightly higher, but not always. If you shop right it's about the same...and if QUALITY matters to you remember that the old axiom holds true...you do get what you pay for. read more

I am pleased with this Safeway. I am in town for my aunt's memorial and had to plan everything. I live in SF so had to do the planning from out of town. The people at this Safeway were so helpful. I ordered everything here- cake, food trays, flowers, even boxed coffee from Starbucks. Everyone was so very helpful and the food was delicious, flowers beautiful. It was a huge help and excellent customer service from the ordering to pick up. Such a relief. read more

I rarely shop here just because of the prices. I would rather drive further for a better price than know I'm getting ripped off. The last few times I've been to this store the customer service just SUCKS. (No other way to put it) not only am I not finding what I came here for, but now I'm waiting in long lines, 1 or 2 lanes open max, and then the cashiers are the RUDEST in town. (Is smiling prohibited from the staff). I don't "need" to shop here. Plenty of other options to go to. Get a clue Safeway do you care about customer service or not? read more

The pharmacy staff is terrible and lost all paperwork for a prescription that I need to take every day. I now have to go back through my doctors office to get a new prescription-a process I've been told can take several days. The technicians were rude, unapologetic and unhelpful through this process. Typically I love Safeway, they have an amazing bakery and produce section. When I needed to special order they did their best to help me. However I had a bad experience yesterday and left upset, this morning the store manager Robert personally called me to fix the problem. I was so impressed and appreciative by his promptness, desire and guarantee that my experience would be corrected. Many stores see you only as a dollar sign, Safeway genuinely cares and treats it's customers with respect. I won't forget their devotion to maintaining a great store. read more

Safeway isn't cheap. However, the selection is nice, the atmosphere is decent, It's quiet at the times when I shop, evenings after 8 PM. Their selection of Mexican groceries is lamentable, but I can go to other stores for those items. read more

This really is the last decent grocery store in town. The bakery always has great fresh baked breads and desserts that don't disappoint. There is always great sales, especially their $5 Friday sales. Cashiers are usually nice and helpful. There's also a delicious deli, a Starbucks, and a bank all inside the store. I definitely prefer to shop here over anywhere else! read more

I just got back from shopping here!!! My year old girl is sick. She was also asleep in the car when I drove up. Not wanting to wake her or leave her in the car while I got the medicine, I called the store and explained the situation. One of the employees was awesome and brought me what I needed. This is regarding Safeway Fuel Station.. I was there awhile ago to get fuel (6/28/16) and it was a nightmare. The driver of the tanker which delivers their fuel was very rude. As soon as parked my car to get gas, he slammed a cone in front of my car as if to say don't pass by here. I was supposed to get a full tank of gas but I cut it short because he was acting hostile and I didn't want trouble. He even shouted at me when I left, and he instructed me to reverse instead of making me move forward. He is really bad for your business, I am never going to get gas there again. read more

This Safeway's butcher department is amazing!! I've had them do specialty cuts on several different occasions. (Once a very lovely crown roast), always with a smile, and no extra charge, other than the regular price for the meat. They really take pride in what they do, which is a rarity these days. Waited for customer service for dam near 30 minutes Watched another clerk call them twice and get no response There were 3 or 4 other people waiting behind me who gave up and left before receiving service I explained I have my dog in the car I just wanna pay my power bill can someone help me with no response finally Wilma who was watching me from the booth where apparently she eats her lunch Finally approached me after watching me for 30 minutes every plied I was on lunch so I couldn't help you maybe they should have somewhat cover their him please while they take their lunch or maybe Wilma could have took the time to speak simply explaining that's the situation Instead of staring at me for 30 minutes within earshot and doing nothing I work construction and even I have better customer service skills than that If I could take stars away from them I would My service was unacceptable and Wilma should take a class on customer service if she's gonna work the customer service counter I'm only giving this one star because I have to to submit my review read more

Floral Dept is awesome! Great selection and longest lasting helium balloons (lasted over a week)

6:35 Friday night and lines are 6 to 8 people deep and only two lanes open. Pissed off shoppers and people leaving.
