This is my store. I work at the Woodland, WA Safeway as the Floral Manager. I also shop here. We have a great team and an excellent Store Director, Ryan Beaty. The store is well stocked and all employees work hard to keep the store clean and beautiful. We take great pride in our work. Some people that you may come to know; Christine managing the Seafood department, she goes above and beyond in preparing three different ways to serve up shrimp. Her samples are amazing! Swimmin' Seafood team! The Meat department is led by Anthony, he and his specialized group are very knowledgeable and extremely accommodating! Our Produce department is led by Edward and Fresh Cut led by Cathy. They and their teams keep everything clean, fresh, meticulously organized, and well stocked. Managing Starbucks, we have Miracle, she makes the best drinks ever! She has a friendly and experienced team. Go Starbucks! Our frontend is led by Gabriella, our Service Operations Manager. She is very efficient and keeps the frontend running smoothly. We also have a slew of professional/ friendly PIC's, checkers, and courtesies, all are here to assist and make your shopping experience pleasant. GREAT FRONTEND! Kimberly runs Drive Up and Go. She and her team do a great job picking orders for all of their customers. They take the utmost care in what they choose.. I myself am very proud of my Floral team, a very hard-working and talented group of people! The Deli is ran by Nikki, she and her culinary team do a great job providing convenience breakfast, lunch, and dinners for our customers. Kelly, is our Dairy Manager. He keeps things fresh, well stocked, and looking good. Lindsey, our Frozen Manager does an excellent job keeping items in stock and well faced. Casey leads the Bakery, smells very good every time I walk by. A talented bunch. Lisa, is the General Merchandise Manager, her department looks perfect. Stacey, our Grocery Manager and her team keep the rest of our store well stocked and faced; not a small task. Crystal is the Assistant to Ryan. She plays a role of support and helps to keep our store looking beautiful. Linda is in charge of File Maintenance, she and her team keep all of our tags up to date. We also have another Anthony out in Fuel. He and his team keep the fuel station looking nice and they are always willing to assist. Backstage we have Bonnie leading Receiving. She does a great job working with vendors and keeping our back room organized. Last but not least we have Cheyenne, our lead Booker and Hiring Manager. Every time I've been to this store this year, there has always been at least one customer bringing in a non-service dog. When I complained, the employees always say that it is store policy to tolerate this, even though it is against state law. Today, I was there about to check out, when some dog urinated all the aisle -around 6:30 PM. The cashiers ran over there to clean up the mess while one of them talked to the owner in the parking lot. They should be reported for this policy. read more

We visit this Safeway often but mainly for quick grocery items, the pharmacy and gas. It's super convenient. However, this review is for the deli and bakery. I ordered a birthday cake. The cake was fresh and beautifully decorated. It was delicious and we had no complaints. Then, there was the deli. I ordered two sandwich plates. One was a combination of 1/4 cut sandwiches with deli meat and cheese. Absolutely nothing special. They were actually plain and appeared to be lacking. I definitely wouldn't order those again. No spread on the sandwiches but small piece of meat and cheese ... not good. I also ordered the salad sandwiches on buns. They were terrible. I'm not saying the egg salad or other salad (whatever it was) wasn't fresh. The mixture was if you could locate it in the bun. I bet there wasn't one teaspoon per stale, hard bun. It was spooned in between folded lettuce and pretty bad. I'm not sure anyone ate any. It's much cheaper and better tasting to make quarter sandwiches yourself than to order from the deli. read more

I recently was diagnosed with cancer and a prescription for pain meds was approved by not only my doctor but my insurance, but the pharmacy wouldn't fill it as they said it was too soon. When I explained my situation and that the doctor and my insurance approved it, their response was "The pharmacy doesn't care whether you have cancer or not! The pharmacy's policy is NOT to fill any pain meds early!" Now while I understand that there are certain CDC guidelines as well as pharmacy policies they must adhere to...to speak that way to ANYONE in such a snide, unexceptionable way is just wrong. And not only did she say it to me, but said it so loudly that everyone in line heard her as well. Even they looked disgusted in not only her words, but especially her tone. My doctor ended up writing me another prescription, but I had them change to Fred Meyer pharmacy in Salmon Creek, where I KNOW their customer service is very good. The thing is, is this is not the first time I've had issues with this pharmacy. Between the rudeness, short curt phone calls where they cut you off and hang up on you quickly. As well as not getting through on the phone for 4 days straight and wait times on meds where you're told an hour and it take 4, I'm DONE with them. And I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that anyone who's thinking about using this pharmacy, possibly think twice. I understand they're short staffed and they have a lot of people to help, but there is NO EXCUSE for talking to people the way they do. And I know I'm not the only one, because I've heard them talking to other's the same way. The Tech's are great and do their best, but the lady Pharmacist is exceptionally rude, and clearly uncaring. And if I could give them a negative -2 star rating for her alone...I would! read more

Safeway is expensive! Unless I have coupons I avoid this place. However, their fresh produce selection is often the best in town and gas is often the same as Fred Meyer. Last time I was in I bought a package of Oreo cookies. They were stale. Apples and gas...all lease I go elsewhere. read more

I've only been here for the gas. It's actually an incredibly convenient location if you're heading south on I5. Yeah, they have different cash/charge prices, but whatever. What else am I suppose to say about this gas station? I've never had a problem with anything here. It's easy to get back on the freeway after you're done. I've shopped here weekly for over ten years. It's a fine grocery store, not too big not too small- just a typical Safeway. Most of the clerks are great but I have my favorites who do their job quickly, are friendly, and can chit chat while still doing their job. Other stores maybe cheaper but this stores sales prices beat them out, plus they bag my groceries in a logical way. Deli: we are picky eaters and don't like their deli food- honestly the Astro up the street has better deli chicken. Bakery: my kids love that they can pick up a cookie while I have my loaf sliced. But typically, especially in the summer the flys takeover- no donuts for this family. They do have good variety on the day old rack which I always check. Meat: always good quality meat and the butchers are always helpful! Produce: Decent quality (best in Woodland, sometimes pricy). I find myself at Chucks during Summer and fall. Just for You App: an absolute must at this store. I ALWAYS scan the weekly add on the app, check just for you, and make my list before going shopping. Sometimes the app doesn't populate when I get in the store so I can't see my list which is frustrating! Price: 100% of the time I scan my receipt before leaving the store. Yeah I'm that lady with a full cart parked in front of customer service. At least once per month I have to ask for money back due to being over charged. It's super annoying and I'd guess that in 2019 I've had to ask for upwards of $50 refunded. Check your receipt! Rewards: not sure why they added grocery items to the rewards- the gas rewards is better bang for buck. Gas: all my vehicles run fine on their gasoline never had an issue. Just like anywhere use caution with debit/credit cards. It's right off I5 and I've heard people have had their cards skimmed. read more

I never buy gas here, but their prices are pretty fair. I will stop in from time to time, around 11 pm when it's raining hard and I need a break from the freeway. They have a great selection in their bakery. The chocolatey goodness always cheers me up, and it's reasonably priced. The only major foul is that their bathrooms can get a little dicey, but I've never encountered any feces smeared across the walls, or drug paraphernalia, so it isn't a deal breaker. read more

Woodland Washington Safeway is wonderful, this is a long comment but please read all the way thru so you know what kind of service you can expect here. I'm a single mother on disability so every penny counts, the wonderful staff here is always willing to help out with coupons that won't click or scan by putting them in manually. There's been a cpl times when I've spotted items that have been damaged or the packaging has been opened somehow & they're almost always willing to discount it for me, obviously this is only on items that are still safe to use. Obviously they have cameras & can see if someone has messed with an item or packaging so I hope nobody gets any ideas about damaging items for discount because you will get caught. To make sure there's never a question I usually leave the item on the shelf & bring them to it. There's even been times when an item was given an incorrect 50% off starting price but they're so amazing they honor it anyway, even if it means practically giving the item away. Now this is very rare, the staff is very careful but also human so mistakes on rare occasions get made, but it's even more rare anymore for stores to stand by the honor of item pricing tradition, meaning if that's the price on the sticker wrong or not we're going to honor it. The store has even made steps to prevent any question of customers changing out 50% off stickers, they're hashmarked & designed to stick only once so even if you've managed to peel the sticker off in one piece the adhesive stays behind. This insures that there's never a question as to whether an employee put the sticker on or if a customer is trying to pull a fast one. Little things like this I know can be lost on most people these days but it's important to me because it's one more step that insures customer relationships stay good, nobody wants to bring an item to the register with a 50% off sticker & be questioned about trying to steal items by taking markdown stickers off one item & moving them to another & this prevents that. Recently I found a usually expensive product in the clearance area which there's is always tidy & organized, I'm not going to specific as to the product but there were several & I knew from seeing them in the store that paying full price is around $17-$20, one had a red 50% off clearance tag stating that the product would be half off $1.99. I was sceptical but also didn't know if they'd already been price reduced. I grabbed it & told the cashier right off that I wasn't sure if the sticker was supposed to go on another product but wanted to see if they'd honor it. She very nicely called her manager over who was a bit in shock when she saw the mistake but without hesitation she told the cashier to honor the price of $0.99 even retrieving a different one for me so if I wanted to give it to someone as a gift I wouldn't need to worry abt the sticker. This is the only time I've ever seen such a drastic price mistake, again humans make mistakes, & I'm sure it will be the last but the fact that they honored it was just so amazing. I can't tell you how much $ this store has saved me & just tonight I was in & saw a product I'd never heard of before in produce, green dragon organic apples in a 2lb bag. Now the produce manager is so cool that if you want to try a product he'll actually cut into it & let you try a piece. It was a bit later than usual & I found a really nice manager on the next isle, I told her I couldn't find a tag or price & hadn't even heard of them before so wanted to taste it before buying it. She was familiar with store policy so without hesitation opened the bag & pulled out a whole apple, they're very tiny though so again no ideas, she told me & my son to go ahead & give it a try & she'd go price check it at the register for me. They were very delicious & when she returned told me the price & offered to take that bag which will be marked down I'm sure telling me I should get a full bag if I wanted to buy it rather than paying for a bag that was short an apple even though we were the ones who ate the apple. Little things like this mean so much to me & I plan on shopping this location for years to come. I'd also like to say that they help local schools as well with donations if it's in their budget. My little town has one helping hand & most food banks don't get the option of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats & cheeses, Safeway donates food to our helping gand giving local families the opportunity to have full healthy meals when $ is tight or non existant at the moment, this also means so much to me since I've had to utilize their services in the past & probably will in the future as well. I really hope someone reads this review & decides to give them a whirl. Just like small town America used to do, the staff here is always happy to have a friendly conversation with you as well, always taking time to try to brighten someone's day. read more

Not a big fan of grocery store cards and Safeway like most other chains require them to get the discounts. Let's face it, these are not really discounts. These are competitive prices that if not offered would result in the store going out of business. The card is not a consumer benefit as the stores will tell you. It is a store benefit. If it truly is a consumer benefit, why don't they give discount prices without it and only give you the extra coupons, points, etc if you want to participate by using the card. The cards are pushed by advertising companies and used to collect buying and personal information about you. I shop where I don't need a card, WinCo, Fred Meyers, Walmart, Trader Joes, and a handful of other specialty markets. As far as this particular store is concerned, I get claustrophobic in there. They have too much stuff stacked in the isles that gets in the way. Produce is weak at best and meat selection limited. Checkout is a real pain. I like to keep track as best as possible between the price on the shelve and what is being rung up. It is amazing how many errors are found here. Safeway's computer system makes keeping track nearly impossible. It gives the regular price and the discount, not the actual price. You need to be a math genius to figure the actual price before it rolls off the 3" screen. Is this design on purpose? And when you challenge a price, the checker will say "no, it is X dollars." pointing at the screen as evidence. Great. New customer service statement. "The computer is always right (not the customer)." Bottom line: Safeway is the closest grocery to me and for that reason I will shop there when I have to but, this is usually for something quick (as in glorified 7-11). My regular shopping will be a better store. read more

Just went and purchased the fried chicken from the deli. We eat it often from the Safeway in Astoria, OR, so decided to give Woodlands a try.. This chicken was either old or over cooked, it could have been chicken jerky easily.. They replaced it with a little apprehension and the second batch was equally as bad.. I am always happy with all the smiles and customer service I get at the Woodland Safeway. I have been to other Safeway stores and sometimes been treated rudely or ignored. However that is rare since Safeway usually has the very best employees. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE Woodland Safeway! We are always treated with kindness and respect. And my very favorite person in the store is the wonderful lady back in the bakery. I believe her name is Hai. She goes above and beyond to make us feel great. We just picked up another birthday cake today and it was so special and so moist. Beautifully decorated and well worth every penny spent. My daughter got a birthday cake at The Dalles Oregon location and it was awful. It had collapsed, was dry, and to hide the lop-sided-ness they covered it in extra frosting when it was supposed to be lite on the frosting. But she had to take it since the party was about to start. I know that when we get anything at the Woodland bakery, and especially the special order cakes, that we will get the very best. You have the greatest staff throughout the store, but I was almost in tears with the look on my sons face when he saw the beautiful cake that Hai put together for us.
