Took vehicle in for recall service. While consulting with the service advisor, I opted for several additional maintenance extras. I was quoted a price and agreed. Advisor asked if I was going to wait or pickup. I figured there was a fair amount of work to be done, so I told them I would arrange for a ride back to dealer two days later. I arranged my ride and showed up two days after dropping off. I went to the cashier to pay and get keys. Bill was for zero dollars. I asked "what happened to the extra services I scheduled?" The woman simply said "sorry, they didn't do any extra service." Thats it - just "sorry." Really angry that I drove 30 minutes and NOTHING I asked for was performed. This was my favorite dealership for their service! They were outstanding. We had a very nice salesman, who greeted us as we walked in the door. He took the time to listen to my son's needs and showed us a few cars. Beautiful cars, very sleek and sporty on the outside. The one issue was the cargo space. We looked at the 3 row seater and when you put the seats up, there was no space to put, strollers, and other necessary items, when traveling with two young kids. Had an amazing experience condescendingly being talked down to by this 'sales manager' about his brilliant math, and whether we cared as much about the purchase as he was for us... 5 mins after meeting us. Telling me you have brilliant math to only give me a trade-in estimate below the lowest offer i got doesn't sound like your math is connected to reality lol. Dude thought i was bluffing with my expectations... and desperate - i wasn't, went to several dealerships and this was the worst experience. Then asking me for my other offers like i owed him something. Weird. Sorry, I'm the customer and not playing the game you're in the mood for. And unfortunately, despite you saying you know about every CX-5 on sale in the area, please don't assume dealership and online search sites are the only places decent people buy and sell cars. And your lot looks full and your shop looks empty. But i'm happy you and everyone around you thinks you're smart and good at what you do. Bought a MAZDA CX-5 SUV in 2016 there. Been happy with the vehicle and the sales experience was way above average. Recently went back to have a recall issue dealt with and a couple of other minor fixes. Service was great at a reasonable price. No upselling on extra stuff we didn't need. Like the waiting area and overall layout of place. My only issue is we live in Leesburg, so this is a way away. But that's not on them. read more

We had to buy a car because our only car was hit and totaled. It was a crazy stressful experience but Safford Brown Mazda made it a lot easier. We walked in on Friday probably 30 minutes before closing and were welcomed by Tyler Standifur. He was very kind and offered water or coffee upon entrance. He was new at the time (only a week, but he's already made his first sale!) so we also sat down with Matt May (the manager). Matt goes above and beyond with showing us the car -- he gives anecdotes about his own experience without feeling like you're being schmoozed. Tyler was also giving useful tidbits which was impressive for his short work experience (contrasts with other dealers we went to). This trip was just for us to get more information about different models so we could discuss and talk numbers at home. Before we left, Matt kindly notarized a document for us as we had brought up that we had trouble with that in conversation. On Saturday, we actually bought the car. My boyfriend and I were involved in a hit and run accident on Nov. 14th to which the person totaled our CR-V that we had while at a stop light and ran from the scene. We were looking for a particular car since we were given a rental car for the time being. The rental car that we had, was a Chevy Equinox which we loved, so we decided to look for a similar one since we found out that our car was totaled and the damage was more than our car was worth which was a good 14K just as an estimate but could've been a heck a lot of more once they did the repairs.. Anyways, we found that this dealership had the one Chevy we were looking for so we decided to take it for a test drive and fell in love! Everything from the minute that we walked in all the up until we left was a great experience! Mind you we went right when they opened on a Sunday morning so the process was rather quick considering that most of the time you're spending all day at the dealership when purchasing a car. Hello. I would like to present my story to anyone who will buy a used car from this dealership. In short, I advise you to stay away from this dealership if you want to buy a used car. In 06-Jul-2021,I bought a used Mazda6 2018 from this dealer. Before I sign the papers, I asked them about the inspection papers that belong to this car but they told me that the car was inspected fully and it is in good condition. However, the inspection papers are not available now and in the next day they will send them. I trusted them. They never do that. They deliver the car to me in 08-Jul-2021. I assumed the car in good condition and trusted them. In the next day Friday 09-Jul-2021 (See Pictures), I was driving the car in a route, and I got a warning sign that said "Smart Brake System Malfunction" and the red brake sign turned on while I drive at 60 mph. I really became afraid because the brake sign is dangerous. I went to private mechanic to inspect the car, and he found that front left Caliper was leaking, and the brake fluid was so low. So, this is a clear evidence that this car was sold to me in this condition and my mistake was that I did not ask them for pre-purchase inspection. Today I went to service to fix that problem and I showed to them the pictures of the warning signs and the leak in Front left Caliper. The person who supposed to fix the problem told me that there are some signs that someone outside the dealer had worked on Front left Caliper before and because of that the warranty will not cover it. It was apparent that from the beginning he tried to accuse me of misused the car and causing the Caliper problem after buying the car. I explained to him and other staffs, The problem appeared the next day of driving the car and I do not know anything about the condition of this car. Maybe the previous owner fixed it outside the dealership, but not me. And before selling the car to me, you should inspect it and fix any problems. After a while they agreed to inspect the car, and after the inspection done, they came up with a shameful and weird "evidence" to accuse me again of causing the problem. This time, they told me that the wheel has some dust and dirts inside and it is wet and there is clear sign of an object hit the Caliper recently. Accoring to them, if the problem started before I buy the car then the wet will dry out but it is still wet!!! therefore, they accused me of going off the road and hit an object after buying the car and causing the problem !!!. Their scenario was not happen at all after I bought the car for one day only the problem started. I told them the dust and dirts on the wheel are because the brake fluid leak and logically the wet will never dry out as long as the leak continue. So, their "evidence" is not an evidence at all !!! They sold the car to me with this problem and accused me of causing the problem after I figured it out. They did two Shameful mistakes!!! I am really upset of their accusations to me. I am a moral and responsible person and if I caused the problem, I would fix it myself. The only thing they offered is to tight up the screws and told me that the problem 100% fixed. If they want to fix the problem, They should replace front left Caliper completely because the Caliper in bad shape. After two day of "fixing", the Caliper is still leaking and the brake fluid becomes very low again! To be fair, Mr. Kevin Rodriguez was very nice, and he believe me and try to negotiate with other staffs in the sales and service departments to solve the problem but the problem in the other staffs. read more

Sevice prices are going up. Up sell pressure is going way way up. I decide not to lower my ratings. I still trust them to do works. Scheduled for a $99 oil change and tire rotation, $20 VA inspection. Just had a 30k service 1 year ago, drove only 1400 miles since then. The car runs well. After check up, here's the estimates: Drive Belt tensioner Leaking - Safety $500 (urgent) Serpentine Belt - passes inspection -$60.00 Inspected vehicle and recommend replacing serpentine belt with tensioner (I believe above estimate is correct, glad that they found the issue) Below are items I decided not to do: Sparkplug replacement - worn = $285.00 Recommend replacing spark plugs and cleaning all ports Fuel induction (EFI) services - $199.90 (I don't mind to replace sparkplugs for performance reasons, e.g. replace with NGK Rtuhenium HX. But think it might be too early to replace with OEM ones now. I could be wrong. EFI services might be nice, but price is not cheap comparing with a bottle of fuel cleaner. I don't see enough evidence bad carbon bulidup. I only use gas from Shell. ) Total estimate is $1100+ BTW, the look of these spark plugs are fine to my eyes, only one plug has slight carbon build up. No symptom of malfunction of plugs. Is there a professional can give a review on the plugs? See attached photo. read more

Both of my DRL lights went out during August of 2020 and was told that there would be a 5-6 month wait for replacement parts . . . . . WHAT? Functional DRL's are a VA state inspection requirement and if not working then your auto fails inspection. I wished that Mazda corporate and Brown's had been more proactive in taking care of this issue in a timely fashion. A Mazda regional rep. was supposed to contact me but I never received a call. I chose the Mazda brand because of all it's advertised to be. I should have researched this dealership better. Be prepared for ALL the sales tactics that give car salesmen a bad name. They give the appearance of treating you well, but they intend to do anything they can to take advantage of you in the sales process. While in the showroom the day I bought from them I overheard several conversations between salesmen about how they'd "stuck it to" other customers. Overall bad behavior from sales. As I described my accessibility need to the salesmen I was working with, other sales people laughed. Humilitating!! I chose Mazda because of the brand's disability assistance program. Our experience: - they use a handwritten offer sheet, listing "optional items" meant to distract you from focusing on the real numbers. The handwritten sheet with crossed out numbers will be a challenge if have learning disorders (dyslexia, or dyscalculia). - though they advertise that they honor Carmax estimates on trade-ins, their initial trade-in offer was significantly lower than Carmax. When they were presented with the written Carmax offer, they just changed the numbers elsewhere on the offer sheet to get the price they wanted. - I was sold a car about 90 days ago that was supposed to be capable of a simple adaptive change to accommodate my disability. After several appointments to make the change, Safford Brown is now telling me that my only option is to pay over $12,000 to purchase another model!! - this dealership did not honor the advertised veterans appreciation discount The showroom looks nice. They'll appear friendly and pleasant, giving you all the gourmet coffee you want. Their sales practices are deliberate, dishonest, and deceitful. Beware! If you're elderly, disabled, or just want to deal with honest people, don't buy here. read more

Horrible service department. I've had bad service every visit since buying my Mazda but today really was the worst. I was called around 9am and told they'd do the inspection to see what was needed, crickets until 2:30pm. I called for 30 minutes, couldn't ever reach anyone in service. The front desk gal who answers the phone is exceptionally rude. I finally hear from them around 3:00pm - somehow all the work is done. I never actually approved any work, but they went ahead and did the factory recommended work. Fine. I go to pick it up, my car is out front with all the windows down - not cool at all. I go in to pay and the girl is once again rude. When I get into the car, I find it's been driven 3 miles above the mileage logged on my receipt. My best guess is they couldn't provide me updates because someone was out using my car, but I'll never have a real answer so who knows. Went up the road and sold the car, proud owner of a new civic. I called the service department twice over a month span before coming in to get my free oil change and I was informed both times they were honoring the free oil changes until the end of 2023. Great because I wanted to get my brakes and muffler worked on. I'm also in the market to buy a new car in the $40k - $45k range so I was going to shop while waiting for my service to be completed. I arrive for my oil change appointmnet THE NEXT DAY, after my second phone call to verify that they are still honoring the free oil change, and they say that the oil change is no longer free. UPDATE - 5-15-2019 - One Star (Should be No Stars) Unfortunately, I have to drop my four star rating to one star, and would drop it to no stars if I could. As noted in my earlier review, we bought a 2019 Mazda 3 sedan back on 3/16/19. What was not mentioned is that we wrote a check for the car. No financing at all. During the paperwork process, the "finance" guy (I think his name was Nic Glumsic) handed us some credit application paperwork, which we refused to fill out. We didn't want our credit reports run. He assured us that our credit reports would not be run, and that the paperwork was just to ensure we were who we said we were - which seems odd since we had valid drivers licenses to show, etc. Anyway, with his assurances, we filled out the paperwork and completed the sale. Then, in April, both my son and I (both of us are on the title of the car) received letters from Brown's Mazda thanking us for applying to them for auto financing. Say what?!?! Nic Glumsic and Brown's Mazda of Chantilly lied to our face on multiple occasions, because we asked several times if our credit reports would be run, and each time the answer was no. In addition, we insisted that they not be run. And since we were paying for the vehicle outright, no credit report would be necessary. It's outrageous that they lied and pushed through those applications despite our multiple requests that it not be done. I will never buy another car at this dealership, and if you're considering doing so, look at some of the other reviews. A quality dealership doesn't have this many negative reviews. Lots of better Mazda dealerships in the DMV. Spend your money elsewhere, and hopefully be respected and treated with honesty. read more

I spent almost an entire (fascinating!) afternoon at Safford Brown's Mazda Chantilly, much of it with Gabe Santos, my sales guy. The experience could not have been a better one, from the moment I saw the Mazda CX-9 waiting out front for me upon my arrival to my initial greeting from Gabe to the test drive to the evaluation of my Acura for its (apparently, paltry!) trade-in value to the pretty passionate (on my part) negotiations to sealing the deal. I got an extremely good price, was able to use my lender, Bank of America (which is Safford Brown's as well!), at an interest rate that BOA adjusted down once my credit rating (of which I am very proud) entered the picture. I love the car's color (blue reflex mica - I have no idea whatsoever what that means; all I know is that the color is both breathtaking and soothing at the same time), its myriad options (everything I wanted: heated leather seats, sunroof/moonroof, nav system; back-up camera, separate climate control for second row passengers, a phone setup that will curtail my getting ticketed for bring on my cellphone, a bunch of driving safety features, and a third row), its low mileage (74, 200 on a 2015 vehicle) and the car's performance from the time I drove it off the lot to my arrival home. I was treated throughout the buying process with consistent kindness, patience, and respect. Jeff James, the Finance & Business Manager, tolerated my buyer's histrionics with cordiality and (probably) amusement, and John Gutierrez, the Sales Manager guru who negotiated with Bank of America and jiggled the numbers for me to afford the car should be elevated to Sales Sainthood.
