Ordered takeout from Saffron and had such a great experience. Their online ordering system is super easy to use, which made everything really smooth. Our order was ready on time and packaged well. Even though we were just picking up, the staff were attentive and helpful, which I really appreciated. The space itself is also very nice. Clean, well kept, and has a welcoming atmosphere. We started with the veggie samosas and mixed pakoras, and both were amazing. Perfectly cooked with great flavor and really good sauces. For mains, we had the Chicken Makhani (butter chicken) and the Chicken Malabar, and both were so good. Super rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The portions were also very generous. The garlic naan was a standout. Fresh, soft, and perfect for dipping into the sauces. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious and really hit the spot. This is a full-service, sit-down Indian restaurant, unlike its fast-casual neighbors in this new strip mall. I had actually ordered takeout but I wanted to sit there and eat; they directed me to a table and a server tended to me very congenially even though I already had my food. There is a bar here that was playing a game I wanted to watch, and it was indeed nice to sit and linger. My food was pretty good. For my entree I got the Chicken Makhani, which is basically butter chicken but I requested the medium spice level which I think really improved the flavor. Based on this, I would say that their five-level spiciness range is accurate. The portion size was ample and most, but not quite all of the chicken was nicely cooked and of good quality. I also got a side of Cheese Pakora, which came with two sauces that were both good but I wouldn't have liked that cheese thing without a sauce. Prices are very good considering what you get. We may have found our new favorite Indian restaurant. We really have enjoyed the other Indian restaurants that we have tried around town however Saffron Indian provided some unexpected greatness. We typically order naan, chicken tikka masala, and chicken makhani. We certainly have ordered some other dishes, however those are our main items. We ordered online. The process was simple and our bag was waiting for us as scheduled. Their naan bread was really good. A little thicker than other naan breads and seemed a bit smokier while still being a bit chewy. We tried the plain Naan and Garlic Naan. Really good Naan bread with the garlic being our favorite. Both the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Makhani were very good. Flavorful sauces with big pieces of chicken. The next dish was a game changer. We thought we would try the Beef Josh. This might have been our favorite dish. The Beef Josh was savory and flavorful but it was the tender chunks of beef that really made that dish. We tried two new dishes to us. The Chicken Kathi Roll and the Chicken Tikka Dosa. The Chicken Kathi Roll was Chicken Tikka inside a big flour tortilla. This was good. The chicken was a bit spicier than the Chicken Tikka dish we ordered. Still pretty good. The Chicken Tikka Dosa was also a new experience. The dosa is a large crispy crepe which has a nutty flavor to it. This came with a Tikka sauce for dipping. A fun new and tasty experience. So far so good. We are looking forward to coming back again to try their Tandoori Chicken and Baigan-bharta and maybe some Samosa. Really great food! read more

I have been visiting this restaurant or ordering food delivery, pretty regularly during trips to the Twin Cities. The food quality is pretty consistent. The restaurant itself, if you choose to visit, is very nice and perfect for families/groups or for a romantic evening with your significant other. The service is also pretty decent. But most of all the variety on the menu is pretty vast. But that also means that most of the items are pre-made. But some items like the dosa or bhature have to be made to order and definitely taste much better. read more

This place means it when they ask for your spice preference! Often times I feel like places have spice levels but they always end up weaker than described, but not here. I ordered my biryani at spice level 3 and it really packed a punch in the spice and had my nose running and eyes watering. I know next time to order at level 2, haha, but I appreciate the authenticity. They have a large menu with a theme of items based on different localities. It can make it somewhat tricky to look up dishes, but for the most part it can be easily deduced what the dishes are. The biryani was a hearty portion enough for two meals and had good flavor. They also had a lot of naan options, but I wish they provided more slices for the prices being charged. This is a wonderful place for toned down Indian cuisine. The food is wonderful, not overly flavorful (a good thing for our kids), and a great variety! This is our favorite local Indian restaurant. We eat there or get take out as often as we can, especially now, to support a small, immigrant-owned business. The food is always delicious and the service is always fast and friendly. The ambiance is pretty great for a suburban strip mall. Drinks are creative and well made. Great beer selection. We've tried a variety of foods and they have all tasted great. With ICE taking over our city, we are hoping everyone who works there is safe. This was our first trip to Saffron but not likely our last. Although one of our party was not happy to find the Tandori Chicken served on a bed of fried onions and peppers, he traded with me and liked my dish while I liked both. I especially liked the variety of dishes representing more different areas of India in both the north and south. The service was good and the atmosphere pleasant, more so than I expected in a strip mall. The portion sizes were good and the prices reasonable. We'll be back. read more

We ordered takeout from saffron so can't speak to their dine in experience yet. We ordered the chili chicken momos and chicken chettinad curry. The momos were ok, the sauce on the outside was good, but the filling wasn't seasoned well and seemed bland. The chicken chettinad curry was good and very flavorful. Based on the curry alone I'd like to try more dishes and even dine in as well. It is a newer restaurant so I'm sure more changes are to come, but I'd love to give it a try again in the future. read more

I've ordered from here a couple times now and the food is good. I like that it's not far from my home and it seems to be cheaper than some of the other Indian restaurants close by. You can order online for pick up or delivery, but I always do pick up. My only complaint is the time you're given for when the food will be ready is a bit off. It seems to be ready much sooner which is great but if you go by the time given your food might not be hot. I definitely will keep coming back. Might try dining in sometime too. read more

This is my 3rd time here. I ordered Dal Makhani, level 2, and it was delicious. I definitely could have ordered a 3. We had vegetable samosas for appetizers, which were also really good. I LOVED their mint chutney. My friend ordered Chicken Malabar. She said this is the best Indian food she has EVER had!! she does not tolerate any spice, and ordered accordingly. It was perfect!! The space is bright, the noise level was low to moderate. It might get noisier if it's more crowded. We tried the curry momos (dumplings) which were new to us. They were very tasty. We've had chana masala at many Indian restaurants, and this one didn't disappoint. We also had (chicken) vindaloo and kadaiwala. Both were very good. Will definitely go back. Loved the sauce, sort of reminded me more of a tikki masala sauce (could be wrong) and i ordered the paneer naan to dip into it, highly recommend! You can tell this place has some secret gems on the menu, but everything that came to our party of four was delicious. My daughter ordered the appetizer fish cakes for a meal and wow, those were good. The Biryiani was perfect. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. The only reason for four stars was the service. While very nice, the server never spoke above a whisper and didn't arrive to take an order until we had sat for 20 minutes, on the verge of walking out. I suspect the owner came by twice to see how things were, and I sensed his sincerity. A peek into the kitchen (I know, bad habit) and it was very clean and orderly telling me there is a lot more than meets the eye.
