Sage and Stone worked long hours and many weeks to transform our overgrown backyard and ugly side yard into beautiful, functional and sustainable spaces. During the planning process, Gabe provided detailed and thoughtful plans that reflected his great taste in plants and impressive knowledge of materials. We kept him pretty busy during this phase, asking for changes in design he was happy to accomodate. His patience and professionalism were much appreciated. Once work was underway, the Sage and Stone crew were always friendly, creative and hardworking. If we asked to have plants moved or paths extended, these changes were handled quickly and always to our satisfaction. Our particular project was done during the winter months over two phases. And during this time, rain and cold were a constant. But this did not deter Gabe and the Sage and Stone crew from showing up when expected and working long after dusk and dark. Weeks later, we have a beautifully constructed backyard, a handsome new fence and planter boxes filled with top-quality soil. Now that spring has sprung, the fruits of all this labor are taking shape. I can't say enough good things about Sage and Stone. We started with a major overhaul of a sloped yard that was useless. We wanted a combines play space and edible garden that was esthetically pleasing with a bit of an Asian feel. When I described this quirky idea to Gabe, his eyes lit up. He came up with three vastly different designs and my husband and I loved one of them. It came out so well that neighbors that I had not met stop in their cars to compliment me on it. They are so knowledgable but when it came to design and selecting plants (I was very specific about what I wanted) they gave me as much leeway as I wanted. I never got the "well, we don't really do that" reply. To a person every single one of them was personable, helpful, and very respectful/careful about my two kids who were very interested. We actually miss having them around. Now, I was not really thinking I would do ongoing landscaping, but here again they positively surprised me. They let me know what needs to be done and I tell them what I want them to do vs what I will handle myself. Lastly, our project was delayed on my end because of a family tragedy. Found out about Travis and Sage and Stone thru our neighbors, who are friends of theirs. My wife and I had pretty specific ideas for what we wanted done in our backyard, which included: ripping up all the grass; building a retaining wall in - order to gain about 3-4 feet in depth to our yard (an extreme slope at the back made part of our property unusable; and build a patio, dry stream bed and pond. We wanted a "blank slate" to continue the work ourselves and have Travis and crew to do the hardscape. Just what we wanted, a textured platform for our Northwest inspired Japanese garden. The actual work took longer then Travis had anticipated, in which he bent over backwards to please us. The planning process took all winter (they could not start until late in May), however, Travis came over a couple of times for revisions to our blueprints, which was above and beyond what we had expected. We are super stoked to see what we come up with in the next 5 to 10 years as our garden envolves, all of which will have foundations in the work that Sage and Stone provided. Gabe and his team were top-notch. A different landscape designer had referred us to Sage and Stone to install her design for our front yard--which involved removing grass, removing plants and bushes, planting lots of new plants, building a raised bed, and installing an irrigation system. I met with Gabe and he listened carefully and was very responsive and enthusiastic. As it turned out, they had a space open up in their schedule and were able to install it that week! With several people working long hours, they installed it over 3-4 days. All were highly experienced and knowledgeable and friendly, too. The yard looks beautiful and they did an exceptional job implementing the design. Jimmy installed the irrigation system and was very helpful in troubleshooting a faucet malfunction. Once we got that taken care of, he came back to explain to us how it all worked and wrote out a detailed watering schedule for us to adjust the timer each month. Then he double-checked the whole system and found a blockage and stayed late to fix that. We were very happy with their work. read more

Do not do an outdoor scape project without talking to Sage and Stone first! I did a perspective drawing of the project to solve some erosion, drainage and walkway issues we had with the existing hardscape in the front of my house. Gabe and Travis worked meticulously- in the POURING rain- and totally nailed it: Every little special curve drawn in, every flair and nuance I wanted was executed. They were fun and easy to work with, competitively priced and up front about ways to keep it in budget without sacrificing beauty or function. Couldn't be more pleased with the work from Sage and Stone! They presented us several options for our yard at several different price points and worked with us to get the most bang for our somewhat limited buck. They got rid of our sad, sad front lawn and brought in lots of hearty, beautiful native plants. Plus they even discovered a few plants that we had forgotten about and gave them room to grow and thrive. They also replaced our boring aggregate walkway with a gorgeous stone path. The work was done a year ago and everything is coming in really nicely. And even a year later, they are still available if we have questions or if we need help with maintenance. Great guys. Sage and Stone has been doing maintenance at my house for about two years now, and I've been meaning to post this forever! They've not only beaten back almost all weeds, but they've gradually transplanted plants to the "right" spots, pruned plants to have some style, added plants where there were gaps, helped establish groundcovers, etc. restacked my firewood where it made sense, adjusted my gate, etc. Their rates are about $20 more a month than my old maintenance company, but definitely worth it! The crew is professional, knowledgeable, and reliable. I really couldn't more highly recommend them! read more

We starting working with Travis and Gabe a few years ago after deciding to build some low stone walls in the approach to our house. What we got was art itself! Gabe and Travis captured the essence of what we were hoping to achieve - a natural yet structured, clean look. Had Sage and Stone put in a fence and gate about 3 years ago, very happy with results. Another part of fence needed repair last month, so of course I would go to where I had great service.
