But I didn't let my self-doubt talk me out of it. Chris and David were incredibly supportive and answered any questions I had prior to class; they set me up with a mat, blocks, and blankets. As the class began, I followed along much better than I anticipated. With Chrissy's help, I was able to do things I didn't even know I was capable of. I felt so good at the end of this class. I intend to go back for more classes as soon as my schedule permits. This studio can accommodate the newest of beginners to those with years of practice. I've taken more than my fair share of yoga classes with a variety of teaches, many of whom are stellar - however, Jen is by far the best. She starts off the class with just the perfect thing to say to you midweek - something inspiring yet relatable in her cool soothing voice. Every class I've taken with her is different and every class is great. She mixes it up enough to keep you on your toes but as a regular one can pick up on her style, whatever that is. Her music choice also flows with her class and you can honestly tell she really cares and is having fun while teaching. I can't ask for a better yoga class.

Westchester Yoga Arts is a hidden gem in downtown New Rochelle! I was skeptical to try smaller…read morestudios here after attending yoga classes in the heart of Manhattan, but I must say, I am so glad I made the switch! Located conveniently next to my apartment, WYA has every kind of class I could ever need, and class sizes are smaller than in Manhattan so there is more individualized attention (and space to move!). Not to mention, this studio is way more affordable! The space is very clean, but be warned there are no changing rooms (just 2 private bathrooms). WYA has a wide variety of different yoga classes (core classes, gentle classes, classes for beginners, classes for more advanced folk) and zumba/belly dance classes to boot. Zumba is one of my favorite classes at this studio- it's a fantastic workout! All the instructors (for zumba and yoga) are super friendly, helpful, and are there to answer all questions. The studio has a very "family oriented" atmosphere among the staff and clients, and most of the instructors will remember your name. What I also enjoy about this studio, is that there are opportunities to advance in your practice. The yoga classes here take you step by step through head and hand stands and show you proper set up and form for learning more advanced moves. I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone looking for something in New Rochelle.

I'm looking forward to trying the other classes. Every staff member I've met so far, whether through class or front desk, have been incredibly friendly and helpful. The members here are great too! My only qualm is that there aren't markers on the floor to indicate where to put mats. So when a class is packed yogis are scattered about and the space isn't maximized.

It was a very comfortable atmosphere and the instructor (wish i could remember her name) made it fun and enjoyable, which is nice for me as a beginner, at times some other studios have an intimidating atmosphere of ultra flexible and experienced Yogi's, and while there were definitely some there, the vibe was still comfortable and inviting. I've done a handful of Yoga classes in my lifetime, though this one was especially gratifying, both me and my girlfriend felt extremely refreshed and as though we really experienced the true benefits of a well instructed yoga class. I believe it was due to the instructor really taking an hands on approach and describing the poses exactly as they should be done descriptively, she really kept the momentum going as well with a variety of different poses. Not for beginners…read more Booked a class for my husband and I, his back is about to go and he's been told Pilates is a good way to strengthen his core. It was the first class for the both of us. The instructor/owner let us know a few times we should have booked private instruction, I thought because of his back. Class was pretty amazing, again our first time so it kicked our butts. We were obviously the beginners of the group but we tried our best to keep up and I don't believe we slowed the class down. I was feeling pretty good afterwards, it's been a while since I "did a workout" and had that nice endorphin rush; I told her we'd def be back, presumably for private sessions. It's just... on the way out I overheard the instructor greeting students for the next class and what she said just made me not want to return. "Have you done Pilates before?" The girls answered yes. "Oh, thank God! I'm dying..." So, yeah. If you know what you're doing and are going for the routine and equipment, it's a lovely space. If you want to go to a class to learn how to do Pilates, it sounds like this is not really the place for that.

Their late policy is absolute: arrive even one minute past your class time and you will be locked out and charged -- no exceptions, including unforeseen circumstances. They do not answer their phone and do not accept voicemail, so there is no way to reach anyone in real time if something goes wrong. If you have time blindness, executive function challenges, ADHD, Cptsd, or a highly sensitive nervous system, this studio is not designed with you in mind. It is not trauma-informed, and the environment does not accommodate neurodivergence in any meaningful way. For those who need consistency and predictability, it's also worth knowing they have modified the traditional hot yoga sequence -- so what you practice here may not be what you expect. The waitlist system is also poorly communicated; you may not know you've been moved from a class you reserved until it's too late to plan around it. Beyond logistics, the atmosphere feels cold and unwelcoming -- though I'll leave it to others to determine how much of that is the studio versus the region. This studio is BUSINESS FOCUSED rather than CUSTOMER focused, which contributes to the stressed, unfriendly state of the world today. There are wonderful yoga communities out there that lead with warmth and genuine flexibility. This one, in my experience, is not among them.

My favorite part is the different types of classes you can take, so it's not just original hot yoga but other types as well along with HIIT of course! This makes it fun to switch it up and also take a couple of classes in a row if you wanted, since they schedule different ones back to back. Another hugeeeee plus for me is that they have early morning classes and late at night if you slept through the morning ones like I often do LOL (along with late morning/ mid day, early evening etc). Additionally, the staff is nice & welcoming and I oftentimes see instructors paying extra attention/TLC to newcomers If you're a hot room lover then deff come to Yoga Freak ASAP!!!!
