I am honestly appalled by the way I was treated today. I received a call saying I had missed my…read moreappointment, even though I had tried multiple times through both text messages and phone calls to cancel it beforehand. The very first thing said to me when I answered was, "You missed your appointment," in an incredibly rude and condescending tone. I wasn't even given the opportunity to explain the situation before being interrupted and argued with. What makes this even more frustrating is that if the receptionist had simply been kind and professionally explained the cancellation policy, or stated that they had not received any indication that I was canceling, I would have completely understood and comfortably obliged. I am not someone who argues policies -- I understand that when you sign up for something, you agree to those terms. However, it was the rude, disgusting, "mean girl" tone from the very beginning that completely set the narrative for the entire conversation. The behavior and attitude I experienced were unbelievably unprofessional and unnecessarily hostile toward someone who was once a prospective client. I will also be attaching screenshots showing my attempts to cancel the appointment through text, along with the multiple phone calls I made beforehand. That being said I felt so pretty after my last haircut that I feel as though I have an ethical obligation to my hairdresser and the community to share. I've been going to Lydia for about two years now, and always genuinely love the work she does! While Quinn and Foster is a new space for her, it is very pretty with minimalistic decor and I have always had a chill relaxing experience (and at a great price)! I have wavy plus/curly minus hair and usually have a hard time finding somebody who can do a haircut that fits both a straight blowout and a curly style- Lydia always kills it. I still remember my first cut with her- I walked in with incredibly damaged curly hair and tears in my eyes. I was sooooo fed up! Her first words,"it's ok, but do you trust me? We can fix this... This is what needs to happen...". She couldn't have been more right. She cut the damaged stuff and left me with the cutest, curly Felicity cut ever! We went from that to a trendy Fem faux hawk and now a longer bobbed Sharon Stone curly cut styled just for me. This woman gets my curls and cuts or razors just for them. Bring a pic and she will comply- Shannon has strong control of her shears. But don't be shocked, she also knows her face shapes and hair types- she will honestly tell you if it will work or if that style fits your busy schedule (speaking from experience). Whenever I work with any type of artist I make sure I am completely obsessed with their work and have total confidence in their skill so I can fully trust them and let them do their work without worrying. Lexi is THAT gal! I spent the better part of a week scouting stylists and I knew she was it. So I go to AV Beauty and it is the cutest freaking thing! It's essentially one big room and it makes you instantly feel connected because the waiting area is right there in the action. (I'm an introvert and might be turned off by this somewhere else but it was awesome!) Lexi was so sweet from the first second - offered me a drink, caught the vision from my reference photos right away, and was super upfront about managing my expectations with what we could achieve in one session. (spoiler alert: she definitely under promised and over delivered). Ya'll, I have a LOT of THICK hair! Like, you have no idea. I typically spend a whole day at the salon and I was there for seven hours and my homegirl, Lexie, did not quit! She was amazing. She wants to make sure it's complete top quality and she's put her whole heart into it before you leave her chair. One of my favorite parts was that the other stylists and clients are all in the same space and it was basically one big hang out. Kinda the same charm as an old school barbershop where everyone chats together but with way more style. I left there feeling like I was one of the gang and it was my first time there! Arica was our makeup artist and she was truly amazing. She had the most fun and simultaneously calm energy. I'm not used to wearing a lot of makeup and she listened to my worries and made me feel so pretty. She also made my mom feel so comfortable and she looked amazing. Arica is a ray of sunshine and so talented.
