My husband and I spend time and money at this establishment. I decide to get sirloin tips instead of my usual. They come out and I was out of breath after I had to saw through the meat. The fries were cold and mashed potatoes had been "made for a while". When asked if all is was ok I said the tips are so tough I don't want them but would eat the potatoes to be able to eat with my husband as he eat his ribeye One bite of tip and spit into my napkin not another one touched and they discounted the check half because I ate the less than desirable potato's. I spoke with the general manager April and explained the same, and she told me those are the worse item on the menu and unless you order them near to raw they are tough. Now WTF is wrong with this? I advised her if they knew this why not advise a customer so they can order something else. You can order a side of potatoes for a lot less than $8.00 but it's the principal when they choose to charge you for a side that you can't eat with a meat. I hope this review puts her in check and may make her realize she may need to be in another field as customer service is definitely not right for her And don't get me started on the outside of the building, not 1 bait trap I could find, even the Hampton Inn next door has them and they don't even have a restaurant. As you see the pic how many and what type of rodents and other animals could walk right in. Oh and by the way we've never sent food back for any reason as long as we have eat there. Disgusting! Terrible management. Not blaming the waitress in any way she just serves what she has. Also the cook is great not his fault he only can cook what is brought to him. The water dripping wasn't coming from rain this is their drainage system. I've never had reason to notice these things until disappointment of the food. We went there yesterday after staying away for probably 8 yrs. Had heard good things and wanted to give it another chance. I ordered the flounder. When it arrived it looked great but when I cut into it, it was slimy- not well cooked. Took a while to flag down our waitress Gracie, who did say she was sorry and took it back to the kitchen. Another plate comes out & once again the fish is undercooked. This time husband is getting really annoyed. Could not find the waitress. She never came back to see if the second one was better. Finally flagged down the hostess to get her. This time we asked for a box for my husband's food & sent my food back for good. This restaurant is only 4 miles from us and we used to frequent it, but then it went down hill! Well, we have been here twice in the last 2 weeks! They're back to great service both late afternoon and 7 at night!! I had a medium ribeye steak and baked potato....both were done perfectly! They have a nice lunch menu! The staff was friendly both visits even tho there were only 2 waitresses each time....the gals kept up! But more importantly, the food has returned to the way it was years ago! Bravo! Wait staff was attentive but it took a few minutes to get to our table to take our order. My food was fine. The steak sandwich I ordered was cooked medium, just as ordered. I could not eat as a sandwich because the bread was so soggy but all in all the steak was what I was after so that was okay. My potato was more room temperature than hot. I wanted fries but the waitress couldn't guarantee that they would be fresh (hot). My daughter and husband order fries and their fries weren't hot and they were over salted per my daughter. My husband could not eat his chicken sandwich - tasted weird. Apparently, their specialty is burgers because my daughter and son-in-law both liked what they ordered as far as the entree. The one great thing about our meal was the hot fresh rolls. They were outstanding. We've eaten there several times and I believe this was the worst visit. Maybe just a bad day for the kitchen. My biggest complaint was the women's restroom which was just horrendous. One stall had at one point two different locks on the door - both were broken - impossible to lock. they other stall had a commode that was set just about 10 inches from the floor. It was so bad. Went here Friday evening, it was busy, parking lot had at least 20 cars; I had to be seated in the back of dining room, which is no problem because it's just an extension with the same feel as the front. Ordered Texas two-step, chose plain seared salmon medium doneness which was excellent and fresh: also chose baby-back ribs, which was a half rack, but huge amounts of meat. Had two sides of broccoli which were in a bath of melted butter, also fresh and tender. All this food, which was very filling and satisfactory, for $20. An hour after that we got our food. It was terrible ate nothing and left. We refused the comp paid full price 87 dollars and some change left 0 tip and was out never to return. Doesn't look like much from the outside....but we couldn't have been happier with our meals. We were trapped in a storm at the Hampton across the way and only had Sagebrush as an option. We were very happy with our food, which was all done correctly and brought out hot (for take out). Staff was clearly swamped but busting it. read more

The lunch menu is always delicious and the wait staff do an excellent job. Prior to eating there for dinner I would have given a much higher star rating. The Covid-19 pandemic did increase their dinner rating in my opinion. We ordered curbside pickup one evening and it was almost as good as the luch food we were used to getting. After I have tried dinner from there 1 more time I will know if they had an off night or if I just had a bad waiter the night my meal was inedible. I am posting pics of what we got from curbside. When I visited this location I was served mash potatoes that smelled absolutely rancid. Our waitress was friendly but did not check on our table until about 30 mins after we had received our food. By that time I did not want a replacement side dish as I and the rest of my party had finished the rest of our meals. I came at 8 on a Sunday night so it was not crowded and I was seated immediately by the hostess. She brought me a basket of rolls drenched in butter (yum), a menu and water. My waitress, Lauren, came shortly after and took my order. I ordered the 6 oz. Filet, medium rare, with 2 sides - salad and fried okra. This was $18.95. Cheap. It didn't take long to get my food. My salad came out quickly. Very average with some limp salad mix, cheese and a tomato wedge. The main dish came out about 15 minutes later. Steak was cooked perfectly and it was good. The okra was probably frozen from a bag, but that didn't bother me. I would come back if I'm ever in Wilkesboro, but I would skip the salad for some broccoli maybe. My parent's have been here a couple of times since moving to NC and so though it was a good option for us to go to on our way to see a play in Wilkesboro. Zero line. We were seated right away. Place has a VERY rustic feel with well worn wooden booths. They have a good dinner specials (all $10) menu in addition to their regular menu offerings. No one was ridiculously hungry - my parents opted for items from the specials menu and I from the regular menu. (There is also a $5 lunch specials menu). I had the fish & chips (substituting a baked potato for fries) - Fish was ok. 4-5 small to medium pieces. Batter was good and did not get very greasy. But clearly these were filets that had been halved. If you were eating the fat end - it was ok, cod was nicely cooked and tender. But if you got the thinner end of the filet - the fish was very over cooked and tough. Not the best fish I've had but ok. My bigger compliant - margarine arrived to top my baked potato and our complimentary bread (Mmmmmmmmmm the bread is very good). This must be a regional thing as my parents say they have experienced it several places they have been in the area. I don't like a lot on my baked potato but I do like REAL things - LIKE BUTTER. (big sigh) Dad had the Center Cut Sirloin Steak (w/ baked potato) - as it was the 2nd time in a row he had ordered it he likes it - and I'm sure will get again. Mom had the Chicken Scampi with Pasta - Scampi is usually served with shrimp and she doesn't really like that - so this was something new for her to try and she enjoyed her dish as well. We all had a good time nibbling on the bucket of shell-on peanuts on our table and our waitress was very nice and attentive. Overall, for other options in the immediate area - I'd say I'd probably go again, but would perhaps try something other than the fish and chips. read more

TERRIBLE. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My husband, friend, and I visited this place for lunch. We had an hour to eat and get back to our office (about 5 minutes away), and the parking lot was virtually empty, so we figured we'd have enough time. Well, we were greeted right away, but that was about it. Despite there being very few customers in the dining room at the same time as us, our waiter took 5 minutes to bring us our drinks, and 20 minutes to bring my friend his side salad. We sat for a total of 45 minutes and still saw no entrees (not even in a to-go box like we requested after we had been waiting for 30 minutes). By this time, there is no way we would have had time to eat and get back to the office in time, so we left. We know the wait wasn't the waiter's fault, but he could have at least apologized and we received nothing of the sort. It is important to note that I am 5 months pregnant, and my lunch was pushed to a later time than usual that day due to a temporary change in duties. As it was, we had to rush back to our office and get me something from our cafeteria to quickly scarf down while I worked after my lunch break ended. Sadly, every one of my work friends that I have told this story to have stated they have had the same experience despite there being very few customers in the restaurant at any given time. So good it is crazy!! Wow!! This steakhouse was awesome! We had a party of five. The blackened tilapia was cooked to perfection! Not too dry and not over spiced. The crispy shrimp was delicious! The BBQ ribs were tender. We requested some extra sauce and our waitress graciously responded promptly. The filet Gorgonzola pasta was absolutely amazing. Pasta was cooked really well and the cream sauce was so creamy and flavorful. I had the prime rib (mid rare) and it was excellent. Cooked to the appropriate temperature and super tender. The rolls were warm and moist, almost melt in your mouth. Lastly, our server was pleasant. Highly recommend this place. Wish it was in my home town so I can visit again. read more
