Classic mac and cheese with "caramelized onions"
Anne S.

The only reason i am giving it 3 starts is because the first time i ordered from here, i liked it. Second time was a huge disappointment. I did contact the restaurant (both were carry out orders) via email, which i found on their website, but never gotten a response. What i ordered was supposed to be classic mac and cheese with caramelized onions. There was barely any sauce, pasta was dry and the few onions that were in it were not even remotely caramelized.

This place has beautiful views. I went to order a few different drinks, but were out of literally everything. I tried to order beer and I also tried a cranberry margarita, I ended up just getting a water. The burger had great flavor. My daughter absolutely loved her wings we thought they were good size. My husband was not the biggest fan of the Carne Asada fries. They were very soggy and tasted like the fries were already cold when they assembled them and I just feel like mushy fries are never good. If we went back, we would pass on the fries, but definitely go for wings or a burger.

This place has been here since the 50's & it shows. Apparently, they have been doing something right! Service was SUPER! Food was just as good!! Started with cup of Chicken Corn Chowder w/Corn Bread. WOW!! Some of the best I've ever had. Next Fish/Chips w/Slaw. The chips were perfectly cooked. I like they left the outside skin on of the potato. Fish was 'real' Cod & slaw was great. My Wife had the Chicken Enchilada, Rice & Bean. With so many Mexican restaurants here, they did an admirable job. She had the Jalapeño Marguerita which was very good. Me, just D. Coke. Tab $63+ tip. Will we be back? Yes, we will. Thanks to everyone!

Well there's a packed house and vibe for sure but it definitely isn't the food that brings locals here . My husband's mahi taco tortillas just crumbled when he picked up to take first bite. My vegan stew was good and I appreciate a vegan item on the menu more than you know , however it was SO SALTY I didn't finish. It came with sourdough garlic bread ( I was assured was vegan butter) and that bread had so much butter I also didn't finish. Our Iced tea was so refreshing , we must've had 5 or 6 ! Service was great , everyone who helped us was outgoing and friendly. We sat outdoors at the table , there's a bar too. No reason to come again .

I tried to check in after I got home but Yelp wouldn't let me. We went here after a hike at Saguaro national park and had a delicious lunch with friends. The food was delicious and the beer selection was very nice. The restaurant itself was very nice and clean. Bathrooms are single use multi gender style but also very clean. The inside of the restaurant although nice was very echo type and seemed loud. Our waitress was amazing and kept our drinks rolling and updated us on the food as it was getting prepared! Great customer service!

This is the perfect ol' style built 1950's restaurant, such a great calming ambience where you take in the open outside patio or inside! The food is soooo good, my fave is the green chile Mac with pulled pork, I'm not kidding you the portion is huge and one order can feed two! The reason I didn't give five stars, is the outside patio sits low and the metal fence just covers the view of the mountains, more or less it's to cover all the close parking, so not much of a view. Overall, great bar and wonderful attentive staff!

Ask the Community - Saguaro Corners Restaurant & Bar

Do they have gluten free options?

There are sone gluten-free options, but they're not necessarily marked as such on the menu.

Is this a good place to watch the sunset?

Yes it is. There's outside dining and tables by the windows. We didn't actually watch the sunset from here, but the view should be good.

How are the wings?

The wings are FANTASTIC! They are smoked, the sauce is a sweet heat, and they are served over a bed of house made chips. YUM!

I know I just posted on Tandem, but this must be told, lol…read more Birthday dinner tonight at Tandem. The prime rib was succulent, perfectly seasoned, and medium rare. The stacked scalloped potatoes are unlike any you've ever had: creamy on the inside and crisp on the edges, and asparagus, my fave. We shared the gluten-free flourless chocolate cake with chocolate syrup and real (of course) whipped cream. Sorry no pic of dessert, but we went after it the second it hit the table, lol. So so good.

We got seated immediately with menus in the bar area and the bartender was our server for the evening. He was super knowledgeable and gave recommendations and let us know about the specials which was mozzarella sticks with a bacon fat marinara to which we ordered. My husband got the prime rib cheesesteak, I had a burger, and my friend had the lobster roll. I expected the mozzarella sticks to come out first but they came out with all of our food which was fine. The mozzarella sticks really lacked luster the breading was un flavorful and the bacon fat marinara sauce was actually not good either. The burger was maybe 4/10 they just cook the burgers well done - I was never asked how I wanted my burger. The bun ended up non existent half way through. The chips were interesting I think they must fry them in the bacon fat or a blend because the same flavor was in the marinara sauce which wasn't good. Hy husband loved his cheesesteak said it was great. My friend loved her lobster roll, she agreed with other reviews of the ratio of butter and mayo was great vs ones she has had in the past. We all didn't eat the chips. I think if they were fried in a regular oil it would've been fine or given the option of just plain fries would've been a nice substitute. It felt wasteful. Loved their large bar selection, would've loved to see a mocktail on the menu.

There were four of us and we got two appetizers, which was more food that we needed! The serving sizes are very generous. We had nachos and an order of cauliflower. Absolutely the best cauliflower I've ever had. I'll be sure to get that each and every time I return. Great musician, Korie inspector, playing in the courtyard. The only downside was we had to ask her plates, we had to ask for silverware, we had to ask for napkins, we had to ask for water refills. Maybe they were just a little understaffed for a Tuesday night, but it will not deter me from coming back. In fact, I highly recommend it. Perfect for a summer night. And I can't quite leave this review without saying the ambience of the setting was just perfect. Lots of shade trees areas for families to play, there were cornhole games going on, there was another sitting area with a waterfall, I could see when I was leaving out there is a dedicated play area for children. This is a great place for a big party it's a massive ranch and they have utilized all of it in great ways.

There was nothing wrong with the food and our drinks were delicious. Interestingly, the specialty drinks had no prices on the menu and my drink was $15 on our bill which was ok with me because it was very good. Our server was so rude throughout our evening. We asked him about the drinks and we were left to feel like it was an inconvenience. His demeanor and attitude was just so rude. Any questions we had about the menu he seemed so angry. He hardly said anything to us all evening. I tried to make some light hearted comments and he told me he didn't appreciate it as he was so busy. All of the other servers seemed fine. Between the four of us for a cocktail and food we easily spent $50 each. My husband and I typically tip 20-25% because we know serving is hard work. Needless to say he didn't quite get 10%. Love the atmosphere but felt like we weee on egg shells with this guy. I would go back but would not have him as our server.

My final evening in Tucson led me to ALLORO Bistro and Cocktail Bar, nestled inside the Hilton…read moreTucson East. With a Fish Friday special on offer, it felt like a fitting and convenient choice to close out the trip. Unfortunately, the evening began with a noticeable lack of hospitality. The host stand sat unattended--no greeting, no direction--leaving me to seek assistance from the bartender, whose indifferent response suggested that if I waited long enough, someone might eventually appear. After about ten minutes, a server arrived, asked a quick "how many," seated me, wiped the table, and disappeared without a trace. The service that followed never quite found its rhythm. A woman wearing a wrist brace--presumably a host or manager--floated through the dining room, occasionally escorting guests, though rarely anchoring the front. After another stretch of waiting, my server arrived, offered a menu, and returned with water. From my seat, I had a clear vantage point of the entire dining room: roughly five or six staff members moved about, yet the overall energy felt detached, subdued, and curiously unwelcoming. To the restaurant's credit, the ambiance offers a quiet charm. Soft, flattering lighting casts a warm glow across the space, and the proximity to the bar adds a gentle hum without overwhelming conversation. The clientele--largely older patrons--kept conversations low, creating an atmosphere that would lend itself nicely to an intimate date night. The menu, however, failed to inspire. Aside from the prices, little stood out--though I remained hopeful for the Fish Friday special: Chef Brandon's Alaskan hand-battered cod. At first glance, the dish arrived with promise--golden, crisp-looking fillets paired with fries and coleslaw. But the illusion quickly faded. The fish was disappointingly soggy, its coating limp rather than crisp, and the flavor was strikingly bland. The fries were inconsistent--some adequately cooked, others seemingly still thawing--resulting in a disjointed and underwhelming side. The coleslaw was, frankly, unpleasant, with an off-putting taste that made it difficult to finish. There were small redeeming touches. The aioli delivered a pleasant burst of flavor, and even the simple ketchup accompaniment felt like one of the more reliable elements on the plate. After being checked on, I pivoted to what seemed like a safer choice: a patty melt. With clear instructions given, I anticipated a recovery. Sadly, it followed the same trajectory. The sandwich arrived dry, sparsely layered with onions, and lacking the rich, savory depth that defines a proper patty melt. Once again, the saving grace was the house-made dill pickle aioli--bright, tangy, and genuinely enjoyable. Throughout the meal, the service remained inattentive, with staff frequently congregating near the bar rather than engaging with guests. Despite the restaurant's clean and well-kept appearance, the overall experience felt disjointed--an establishment with potential, but lacking execution where it matters most. In the end, while the ambiance offers a pleasant backdrop, the culinary experience does not rise to meet it. Having traveled extensively and dined across a wide spectrum of establishments, this visit did not leave a lasting or favorable impression. Regrettably, Chef Brandon's offerings do not earn a place on my foodie list, and I cannot recommend ALLORO Bistro and Cocktail Bar. On to the next destination--and as always, don't forget to tip your servers.

They got back to me right away and were very friendly and encouraging that they'd help me out. When we got there, it wasn't busy at all, so we didn't need a reservation. It was a bit disconcerting that the hostess didn't know anything about me having the reservation, but like I said, it wasn't busy at all. We put a couple tables together and had all the space we needed. The large garden setting was spacious and lit by strings of lights which created a nice ambiance. Every table was in the shade by the time we arrived, so if anything, we should've dressed warmer. Our server was friendly and answered our questions. The menu isn't huge, but there were a couple of things I could have with my dietary needs. I ordered the chili burger on lettuce instead of a bun. I upgraded to the Tuscan salad for my side for an extra $4. I asked for some ranch dressing on the side for dipping my burger. My hamburger was very well done, almost to the point of being burnt on the edges. It was hard to cut with the plastic knife I was given. The tiny bit of Tuscan salad was disappointing. It tasted ok, but was definitely not worth the upcharge for the amount I got. So, my meal was disappointing and unsatisfying. The people we ate with would probably rate the place higher than I did because they enjoyed their meals and I didn't hear much complaining. My husband got the Reuben with fries and enjoyed it. The sandwich had a sweet taste to it, perhaps from the apple on it or their sauce. The ones who ordered nachos got a gigantic portion of those. When we got our bill we saw that there was a charge for the little side of ranch dressing. It would've been nice if they'd told us when we asked for it. It might be fun to go back when they have live music.

With that said, I had woken up starving, so waiting was not an option for us. We were instantly seated as we had arrived at the diner. As for my appetite, I can eat for two. So, I had ordered the B&G Special (Full-order). This is pretty much biscuits covered in gravy with the option of sausage links or patties, with egg cooked to your liking. The cinnamon roll was honestly not great; it had a plastic, elastic feel when chewing the bottom of the roll. Perhaps it was freshly baked that morning, but it had sat in the warmer until we arrived. As for music, the brunch started great with some Metallica on the speakers played in the diner. However, we quickly got confused about the vibes, as the following song played was K.C. & Jojo - All My Life. The genre changed with each song, keeping the guest on their toes on what song would be played next. Overall, this Jerry Bob is still a great spot for breakfast. I'll revisit at a later time to try the cinnamon roll again, perhaps arriving earlier in the morning. Just be prepared for a diverse music playlist.
