There were four of us and we got two appetizers, which was more food that we needed! The serving sizes are very generous. We had nachos and an order of cauliflower. Absolutely the best cauliflower I've ever had. I'll be sure to get that each and every time I return. Great musician, Korie inspector, playing in the courtyard. The only downside was we had to ask her plates, we had to ask for silverware, we had to ask for napkins, we had to ask for water refills. Maybe they were just a little understaffed for a Tuesday night, but it will not deter me from coming back. In fact, I highly recommend it. Perfect for a summer night. Went to the Barnyard with friends last evening for dinner. The hostess and bar staff were friendly. However, our server was the worst we have had at a restaurant in a very long time. There was nothing wrong with the food and our drinks were delicious. Interestingly, the specialty drinks had no prices on the menu and my drink was $15 on our bill which was ok with me because it was very good. Our server was so rude throughout our evening. We asked him about the drinks and we were left to feel like it was an inconvenience. His demeanor and attitude was just so rude. Any questions we had about the menu he seemed so angry. He hardly said anything to us all evening. I tried to make some light hearted comments and he told me he didn't appreciate it as he was so busy. All of the other servers seemed fine. Between the four of us for a cocktail and food we easily spent $50 each. My husband and I typically tip 20-25% because we know serving is hard work. Needless to say he didn't quite get 10%. My daughter wanted to try this place out. We had been at the zoo, the mall, and wanted to eat dinner here before driving back to Sierra Vista. She chose this place because of the large outdoor seating, where there were cornhole boards and a small playground for kids to play in to fight boredom. It worked out well. We arrived shortly after 4pm on a Tuesday and the place was already busy. But even better than the outdoor seating was the food. My daughter and I shared a vegetarian pizza and the boys ordered off the kid's menu: Mac and Cheese for one boy and two sliders and fries for the other. The boys enjoyed their food, but we had lots of leftovers. Our server was attentive and very efficient. We ate outside and were a table of four. We checked out Barnyard Crafthouse on a Wednesday night and loved how laid back the atmosphere was. There was a live musician playing, which added a really nice touch. We were seated right away and chose to sit outside. It was pretty cold that night, but thankfully they have outdoor heaters, which made it comfortable. The bathroom was clean, and the outdoor kids area was awesome for my little one! For food, we ordered the spinach dip with pita bread and I'd go back just for that. It was so good! I also got the BBQ smash burger, which unfortunately was a bit disappointing. The bun was extremely dry, and the meat lacked flavor. We tried the pig tail fries and the garlic fries as well. Both were delicious, but the garlic fries tasted almost exactly like the pig tail fries, just with cheese on top?? so we weren't sure if there may have been a mix-up. Overall, it was a nice experience with a great vibe. The food was alright, with a few hits and a few misses, but we'd probably come back for the atmosphere and that spinach dip alone! read more

We got the cauliflower appetizer for a group of 5 people and it was the perfect snack while we waited for our main dishes, which took awhile. I got the AHI BLT with no tomato. It comes served as an open faced sandwich with a large portion of tuna, lots of sriracha mayo and another soy-based sauce. A generous portion that doesn't need fries. My cousin got the fish and chips which he raved about, and my aunt got the Baja fish tacos which were spicy. My uncle was not a huge fan of his French dip beef sandwich as the bun was a bit mushy but my sister liked her buffalo chicken sandwich with a pretzel bun. The menu itself ranged from $20-50 for some of the main dishes, which seems pricy for Tucson. The main draw is the outdoor seating and the play area behind which is good for kids. I would come back with a large group. It briefly rained while we were there and they turned off the heaters and put up umbrellas but it took them awhile to make the switch; luckily the rain subsided quickly. read more

Once we sat at the table to eat, we were outside under a tree where little worm looking creatures were falling from the tree into our drinks and food. The waiter finally put up umbrellas because we were mentioning it and asking to move. Second visit update. The venue is still lovely and the service still top notch. But potential diners and YELPers deserve to see the mouthwatering photos of what we ordered this week for lunch. First we had a delightful peach cocktail. Green chile burgers sounded inviting, but both of us decided to exit the box and go to things that aren't offered in every restaurant. I hadn't had a crab Louis salad in a very long time. Barnyard's version included tender-crisp asparagus, which I adore, and mixed olives, which I also love, in addition to the lettuce, crab, tomato, and hard-boiled egg I would expect on a crab Louie. The thousand island dressing was yummy and brought it all together. The only thing that could have improved this delectable meal would be if the crab had been cut into chunks instead of finely minced. My friend went with something we hadn't even heard of: an ahi BLT. It was gorgeous and huge! When she put on the top bread she said she'd never be able to get it in her mouth, much less eat it all. The sandwich came with garlic fries. They were kind of free-form wedges of soft, lightly crisp potatoes dressed with butter and garlic. So different and so yummy. (She did manage to finish!) Half of my gargantuan salad was already boxed for next-day lunch, when our waiter returned to offer dessert. Oh no. He suggested house-made apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Well, other than chocolate and cheesecake, apple is our favorite dessert flavor. My friend said she just couldn't but we decided we could split one. And, of course, not a morsel was left. The pie was chock full of tender apple slices that retained their structural integrity; no mush here, topped with crumble instead of a boring top crust, and drizzled with caramel sauce. We went in to order some appetizers after a long hike. The Barnyard is a cool place on the "Upper Eastside" of Tucson. They provide some nice indoor and outdoor seating and the grounds are well kept. Service has always been a hit or miss and this time it was much of the same all in one. Not so warm greeting (but still did her job). Waited at the table for someone to Mae eye contact so it was a guessing game for some time as servers walked past our table. I'd say about 10 minutes in our server warmly greeted us. Service from there was so-so. Checked in on us from time to time but I could have used a few more refills of iced tea here and there. Food was interesting. The Ahi app wasn't very good. Waaaaaaay too much seaweed salad and although the portion was large, the plate only came with a few won ton chips. Hummus platter was decent and we loved then calamari the best. They work really hard at presentation (which I appreciate) but I wish they spent more time on functionality more. All in all we still enjoyed our time. read more

I gotta say ! This is by far one of the best American casual dining spot so far. The location is in a very secluded and quiet spot in Tanque verde. The decor of the restaurant is so cute with farmhouse style. It is an ideal spot for events. Their service is good, our server is very attentive to our needs and the bathroom is sparkling clean. Food: oh my, I love their food. We got cauliflower appetizer and it was amazing. Their poke stack was seasoned right and the whole combo just tasted perfect with the chips. Been here a few times and each time the overall experience and food has been pretty good. My last visit, we came for a birthday party and my only issue was the food took over an hour to get to the table. The place wasn't terribly busy, although there was a good amount of people there. But over an hour to get our food is a little crazy. This is a really great place for large groups and parties. They have a great outdoor patio which can accommodate those large groups. A little hot in the summer, but in the cooler months they have outside heaters which really make the place enjoyable. They have a lot of out door games which keeps everyone super busy. I guess if you're distracted playing the games, the hour wait to get your food probably isn't that big of a deal. Servers are great! The highlight of the overall experience. They are accommodating and are intentional to the needs of the table. They are friendly and when the food comes out, they are quick to bring it out. Food quality and taste is great. We ordered fish and chips, pizza, and nachos. All are great! The pizzas are made in the pizza oven here and they come out great! Nachos were really well seasoned and a lot comes in the order. I've had the chicken wings appetizer and those are delicious! The general taos flavor is the best, in my opinion. Overall this place is a great place to visit. UNCALLED FOR TREATMENT BY SHIFT MANAGER! We were there for a birthday party, a lot of us, mainly of Latin descent. The main table did not have enough room for everyone so we sat a table next to another, smaller party table (there was no Wait to Be seated sign nor was there a RESERVATION sign on the 4 person table). The restaurant shift manager came to our table and loudly addressed us with: your cannot sit here, why are you occupying this table, that we had to either find a way to fit on the already crowded table, or leave or go outside. It was RAINING! There were other empty tables at that time inside the restaurant. We went outside, they gave us a table and chairs that were soaking wet, it was still drizzling! Visited June 14. Staff are friendly. Food was awful. Ordered Fish and Shrimp baskets. $15+ for each. The fish was mushy. Couldn't eat it. Shrimp was mostly breading with little shrimp. My friend liked her beer. I'm not a beer drinker so had a cherry flavored beer which was tasty but $5 for 5 ounces. We sat far from the band but still had to yell to hear each other. I warned him he might want something else but he didn't listen. Queso, Bean dip and a strange salsa were the dips. The chips were great but the dips were just strange and not very tasty. I won't take any stars off for that because I expected that it wouldn't be to his liking. My friend's husband had the fish tacos and he said they were delicious. I was not a fan of the BBQ sauce Chicken wings, though the wing portion was pretty good. I think I would get a different flavor next time. (My mother is not a buffalo sauce person, but I am!) The Spinach Dip was Spinach dip, nothing crazy, but it was good. And the French Dip my father ordered was decent too. The Fries were probably the 2nd best thing there. Crispy. Fluffy. Truffle option is a great option is you like that flavor profile. The star of the show however, has got to be that cauliflower. There aren't a lot of places that get crispy cauliflower right, and they do it amazing. In a "General Tso" type sauce (Asian profile, think orange chicken) it works really, really well. Where they fell short was the nachos. My SIL does not like BBQ Sauce on the pulled pork, and were told there was no BBQ sauce. When we got the nachos, there was BBQ Sauce. I didn't mind it, but having been told it wasn't there, and having it there kind of put a damper on things. Her any my nephew did not eat more than 2 bites and said "No." They did offer to change it, but we always hate sending food back. Service was good. No Complaints. Very well attended to.
