My daughter wanted to try this place out. We had been at the zoo, the mall, and wanted to eat dinner here before driving back to Sierra Vista. She chose this place because of the large outdoor seating, where there were cornhole boards and a small playground for kids to play in to fight boredom. It worked out well. We arrived shortly after 4pm on a Tuesday and the place was already busy. But even better than the outdoor seating was the food. My daughter and I shared a vegetarian pizza and the boys ordered off the kid's menu: Mac and Cheese for one boy and two sliders and fries for the other. The boys enjoyed their food, but we had lots of leftovers. Our server was attentive and very efficient. We ate outside and were a table of four. It was warm out, but the sun was low and it got cool soon after sunset. We noticed that everyone around us were older people; no families with young children.

Celebrated my dad's birthday here and they were able to accommodate a group of 16 people. We called the morning of and they had a great outdoor table for us where the kids could play nearby. The food was delicious and great portion sizes! My dad got a complimentary brownie and ice cream, which was big enough to share with everyone.

We checked out Barnyard Crafthouse on a Wednesday night and loved how laid back the atmosphere was. There was a live musician playing, which added a really nice touch. We were seated right away and chose to sit outside. It was pretty cold that night, but thankfully they have outdoor heaters, which made it comfortable. The bathroom was clean, and the outdoor kids area was awesome for my little one! For food, we ordered the spinach dip with pita bread and I'd go back just for that. It was so good! I also got the BBQ smash burger, which unfortunately was a bit disappointing. The bun was extremely dry, and the meat lacked flavor. We tried the pig tail fries and the garlic fries as well. Both were delicious, but the garlic fries tasted almost exactly like the pig tail fries, just with cheese on top?? so we weren't sure if there may have been a mix-up. Overall, it was a nice experience with a great vibe. The food was alright, with a few hits and a few misses, but we'd probably come back for the atmosphere and that spinach dip alone!

This restaurant is great for when the weather is beautiful in Tucson. Staff is friendly. It gets very loud if you are sitting indoors during their busy hours. Portions here are pretty big. Fish and chips is great, fish is very juicy. Burger is spectacular. Calamari has a lot of very good flavors however I didn't like that they breaded the corn on the cob. Overall was very tasty.

Ambiance 5/5, food 3.5/5, service 4/5. This place has a lot of outdoor seating and is great for large groups but that also means your order can get backed up. We got the cauliflower appetizer for a group of 5 people and it was the perfect snack while we waited for our main dishes, which took awhile. I got the AHI BLT with no tomato. It comes served as an open faced sandwich with a large portion of tuna, lots of sriracha mayo and another soy-based sauce. A generous portion that doesn't need fries. My cousin got the fish and chips which he raved about, and my aunt got the Baja fish tacos which were spicy. My uncle was not a huge fan of his French dip beef sandwich as the bun was a bit mushy but my sister liked her buffalo chicken sandwich with a pretzel bun. The menu itself ranged from $20-50 for some of the main dishes, which seems pricy for Tucson. The main draw is the outdoor seating and the play area behind which is good for kids. I would come back with a large group. It briefly rained while we were there and they turned off the heaters and put up umbrellas but it took them awhile to make the switch; luckily the rain subsided quickly.

The service was OK. Not knowledgeable about beer and they were out of 3 beers at least that I was interested in. The place is super loud and they could benefit from some sound dampening tiles. It was weird the center aisle of tables isn't lined up in the center between the bar and the tables against the walls. My French dip sandwich was more a pot roast than French dip. Don't go here unless you live on the east side. Not worth the effort.

We have never been disappointed here. Probably tried most of the menu items. The Barnyard has a really chill atmosphere that makes it a place we always list when we are trying to decide where to go. Service has been great, even when the restaurant is busy. Definitely a place we take people in town visiting. As the weather cools off, the outside seating is our go-to spot. They also have little spinner devices for your table to keep the flies away after monsoons.

Second visit update. The venue is still lovely and the service still top notch. But potential diners and YELPers deserve to see the mouthwatering photos of what we ordered this week for lunch. First we had a delightful peach cocktail. Green chile burgers sounded inviting, but both of us decided to exit the box and go to things that aren't offered in every restaurant. I hadn't had a crab Louis salad in a very long time. Barnyard's version included tender-crisp asparagus, which I adore, and mixed olives, which I also love, in addition to the lettuce, crab, tomato, and hard-boiled egg I would expect on a crab Louie. The thousand island dressing was yummy and brought it all together. The only thing that could have improved this delectable meal would be if the crab had been cut into chunks instead of finely minced. My friend went with something we hadn't even heard of: an ahi BLT. It was gorgeous and huge! When she put on the top bread she said she'd never be able to get it in her mouth, much less eat it all. The sandwich came with garlic fries. They were kind of free-form wedges of soft, lightly crisp potatoes dressed with butter and garlic. So different and so yummy. (She did manage to finish!) Half of my gargantuan salad was already boxed for next-day lunch, when our waiter returned to offer dessert. Oh no. He suggested house-made apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Well, other than chocolate and cheesecake, apple is our favorite dessert flavor. My friend said she just couldn't but we decided we could split one. And, of course, not a morsel was left. The pie was chock full of tender apple slices that retained their structural integrity; no mush here, topped with crumble instead of a boring top crust, and drizzled with caramel sauce. The ice cream has those irresistible vanilla flecks. So good.

We went in to order some appetizers after a long hike. The Barnyard is a cool place on the "Upper Eastside" of Tucson. They provide some nice indoor and outdoor seating and the grounds are well kept. Service has always been a hit or miss and this time it was much of the same all in one. Not so warm greeting (but still did her job). Waited at the table for someone to Mae eye contact so it was a guessing game for some time as servers walked past our table. I'd say about 10 minutes in our server warmly greeted us. Service from there was so-so. Checked in on us from time to time but I could have used a few more refills of iced tea here and there. Food was interesting. The Ahi app wasn't very good. Waaaaaaay too much seaweed salad and although the portion was large, the plate only came with a few won ton chips. Hummus platter was decent and we loved then calamari the best. They work really hard at presentation (which I appreciate) but I wish they spent more time on functionality more. All in all we still enjoyed our time.

I gotta say ! This is by far one of the best American casual dining spot so far. The location is in a very secluded and quiet spot in Tanque verde. The decor of the restaurant is so cute with farmhouse style. It is an ideal spot for events. Their service is good, our server is very attentive to our needs and the bathroom is sparkling clean. Food: oh my, I love their food. We got cauliflower appetizer and it was amazing. Their poke stack was seasoned right and the whole combo just tasted perfect with the chips. Meatball board was soooooo gooooooooooood. Overall, all their food tasted perfect for me and was not over salty. I would def return here in the future and I am so happy that this spot existed in Tucson

We always have a great time and fantastic food at the barnyard and recommend it to folks all the time. The service is speedy and attentive. We are always greeted with a smile and the bartenders will let us sample beers before ordering an entire drink. The charming location and outdoor areas make this place special.

Our poor waitress Alison was working HARD she had tables inside and outside and was really making sure we weren't neglected. We ordered our mocktails which were amazing and well priced compared to other places I've been. They have fresh baked bread with oil, garlic, Parmesan and she let us know bread should be out soon but we ordered an appetizer in the meantime of calamari which was cooked to perfection and it had an Asian spin on it which was really good. We then got our bread after the appetizer which was nice to munch on while we waited for our food. The short rib ravioli is my absolute favorite it's so flavorful, the sauce is rich and deep in flavor Pro tip- save some bread to wipe up the extra sauce. Desert was the lemon olive oil cake it was a tiny bit dry but it came with ice cream and buttercream and the mixture of everything made it all come together. Honestly it's so cute inside and the patio is nice with the misters. Service was great our waitress was really running around the restaurant but we never felt neglected and the food was phenomenal. They got back to me right away and were very friendly and encouraging that they'd help me out. When we got there, it wasn't busy at all, so we didn't need a reservation. It was a bit disconcerting that the hostess didn't know anything about me having the reservation, but like I said, it wasn't busy at all. We put a couple tables together and had all the space we needed. The large garden setting was spacious and lit by strings of lights which created a nice ambiance. Every table was in the shade by the time we arrived, so if anything, we should've dressed warmer. Our server was friendly and answered our questions. The menu isn't huge, but there were a couple of things I could have with my dietary needs. I ordered the chili burger on lettuce instead of a bun. I upgraded to the Tuscan salad for my side for an extra $4. I asked for some ranch dressing on the side for dipping my burger. My hamburger was very well done, almost to the point of being burnt on the edges. It was hard to cut with the plastic knife I was given. The tiny bit of Tuscan salad was disappointing. It tasted ok, but was definitely not worth the upcharge for the amount I got. So, my meal was disappointing and unsatisfying. The people we ate with would probably rate the place higher than I did because they enjoyed their meals and I didn't hear much complaining. My husband got the Reuben with fries and enjoyed it. The sandwich had a sweet taste to it, perhaps from the apple on it or their sauce. The ones who ordered nachos got a gigantic portion of those. When we got our bill we saw that there was a charge for the little side of ranch dressing. It would've been nice if they'd told us when we asked for it. It might be fun to go back when they have live music.

It was worth the wait, and our only regret is that we hadn't prioritized trying it sooner. Everything was magical, from the laid-back, hippie atmosphere of the street it resides on to the experience once inside the establishment. What makes this even more notable, and further enhances the experience, is the lack of similar dining establishments in deep southern Arizona. One can find fine dining in Tucson, over an hour away and far too far for a simple evening out. That's not to say there aren't decent or good restaurants in Cochise County. However, none excel in all aspects of an evening out experience, from greeting to service to the quality of the meal. We had a reservation and were seated immediately at the only table open in the restaurant. That is a plus for their table management. Within two minutes, our waiter appeared with water and bread. Expressing our joy at this proper start to the meal is impossible. In eight years of living in southern Arizona, we have often observed management and wait staff at other establishments taking five minutes or more to arrive at the table. That delay typically foreshadows a lack of basic service that follows. The bread basket featured freshly baked country bread, accompanied by a small plastic ramekin of butter. We would have enjoyed the butter served more elegantly, but that is a minor matter. The bread was excellent. We had heard that the restaurant's appetizers are a highlight and decided to try three: a fresh bacon, apple, arugula, and beet salad, Mussels Meuniere (which were specials), and Arancini. The salad was beautifully composed with just the right amount of dressing to highlight the flavors of the ingredients. The Arancini may have been the best I have ever had. Perfectly fried balls of tender risotto set in a delicious tomato sauce were an unexpected treat. The mussels, unfortunately, were the low point of the meal. Overcooked and rubbery mussels in a tepid sauce that lacked depth and flavor were a major disappointment. Still, that was the only disappointment of the evening and didn't detract from the rest of the meal. We chose two specials for our main course. My wife selected the Salmon topped with a deconstructed Clams Casino. I opted for chicken cutlets topped with eggplant and a dollop of pesto, served in a rich Roman mushroom tomato sauce. The Salmon was incredible. Perfectly cooked and nestled on a plate expertly nappeed with a sublime sauce, it alone excited the palate. But when topped with a well-made clam casino mixture, the dish became an epicurean delight. The chicken was masterfully prepared and was highlighted by the silky-textured eggplant that topped it. The Roman mushroom tomato sauce was well made, my only minor comment being that a different choice of mushrooms might have taken the dish to another level. That said, I would order it again, and probably will if it's on the menu when we return. The dessert selection had me wishing for a larger stomach. Every item on the menu and the specials board looked enticing. We settled on a Basque Cheese cake with blackberries and bananas. We could not have asked for a finer way to end the evening. Perfectly cooked, silky cheesecake in a subtle white sauce and topped with dollops of fresh whipped cream provided just the right amount of sweet and tart to end the meal.
