My 33 yo Singer was not up to the task of slipcovers. I was warned several times by the technician that I was going to kill it some day. That day came and I had to make a decision. After hours of research and varied recommendations about incredibly expensive commercial machines, I finally decided on the Sailrite Ultrafeed SLZ-1, mostly because I already knew Sailrite for their product quality and exceptional customer service for their fabrics and notions. This machine is a true workhorse compared to my old Singer! It's robust motor powers through my slipcover project with ease. It's like driving a Maserati after owning a Yugo for 33 years! My one and only request would be for more home sewing feet attachments. I'd love to see feed dog covers and a free form quilting foot attachment. I'm "sew" happy with my new Ultrafeed!! We purchased a product called Super Grip to make the bottom of a bench cushion nonslip. It turns out that product should not be used on finished wood. We were the lucky customers to discover the previously unknown issue. I wrote a review for the website that Sailrite declined to publish although they did add my review title to the item description. Here is that review ... We used this on the bottom of a cushion for a finished (slippery) wood bench. About 18 months later we discovered that the product transferred a layer of PVC to the bench surface. The bench is indoors, does not get wet, and is not in sunlight. The finish on the bench had been in place for many years and was stable. Sailrite had no solution and referred the problem to the manufacturer who thought it might have been a chemical reaction. The manufacturer also had no solution. Sailrite refused to refund the purchase price saying it was out of policy, store credit only. We don't own a boat. We will never use that credit. It will cost us far more to refinish the bench than the $90 we spent on this fabric. A terrible experience - no accountability, no curiosity to figure out what happened, no effort to make things right. read more

I have been trying to set up a wholesale acct with them for some time. I am a reseller and use some of their components to build my product. They have declined my application and wont respond to why. I have sent them all my necessary permits and proof I am a reseller but to no avail. When calling they just blow me off and say its handled by a different dept. Very poor business! read more

I had been a customer of Sailrite for over 20 years purchasing fabric and equipment. A recent purchase of their Sattler acrylic fabric was disasters. Anything that touched the blue fabric left white marks that cannot be removed. Every fold left marks. I tried to contact someone in customer service which they won't speak to you. They require you to waste you time filling out a support ticket and they get back to you. The response I got was that's normal. A request for a refund was ignored. Ive been switching my business to Rochford Supply in Minneapolis. I've purchased Rochfords Recacril acrylic fabrics and never had this issue. Rochford also has fantastic customer service and will actually talk to you. I don't recommend Sailrite for any purchase. Use Rochford, better products and service, hands down. read more

I placed a large order a month ago and paid $300 for shipping within the United States. I have yet to receive my order. I have been in contact with Sailrite and they assure me all was sent yet it is hard to believe them as I have received orders from farther away than their facility, shipped through the same method and ordered well after I placed my order with Sailrite. Meanwhile they have my funds and I don't have the product that was paid for. I have trouble trusting these people and will not use them again. read more

The materials are good. However, I used the Lee Cloth Sailrite video to purchase supplies for the project and found the information very limited. I called SailRite to consult with a specialist about how much of each material I should purchase, however, the specialist didn't know how to advise me. I told her my rough estimate on how much fabric and hardware I thought I should purchase, and she agreed. However, upon beginning the project I realized I did not have enough of the edging material and only purchased 2 of the 3 snap shackle clips I needed. I am very disappointed with the details of the video and support on how much of each material is needed to purchase for the project. I ordered swatches of windowshade mesh because it's similar in weave structure to heavy buckram, which has been used for years in the millinery industry but is increasingly difficult to find stock of. The quality is good however the binding is extremely stiff and won't go around corners. Why make it so stiff?!

I love these guys. A few years ago, my mom and I were looking to make shopping bags, but couldn't find any designs we were happy with. Mom found the Sailrite market tote video online; with a couple tweaks (added stiff interfacing, webbing instead of fabric handles, I make mine bigger), we've been making them ever since. They're a huge hit hereabouts - the grocery store baggers love them because they stand up on their own. I've bought a lot of their Seamstick tape. It's the perfect thing to hold the bag handles in place before sewing them down. (One thing - don't sew over the tape. It will gum up the machine something fierce. Use a narrow tape to keep that from happening.) I like their pins, too. I'm finding that they even have a video on reupholstering a recliner. Wow. I may have to try that one day. read more

Just finished sewing the panels together using the supplied basting tape. It really works great. I was able to create a 2 inch belly in the sail. The sail is not very large. It's for a dinghy. The sail material is very stiff but I was able to run it through my wife's singer 3102. read more

TO THE TRADE: I am a fabricator. I filled out the application for wholesale pricing to the trade, but as I found out after the following experience, they send a few follow up emails to complete the application, which must have ended up in my spam, and thus I was under the impression I was a wholesale customer and was not. That said, I rarely ordered from them because the posted pricing was so high. I did order supplies and things no one else seems to carry since my business sign up. On my last order, they actually shipped me some 200 dollars of merchandise I didn't order. As a fabricator, the first thought through my mind was, what a mistake, what an expensive mistake. The shipper could get in trouble, the customer who is waiting can call and complain about not getting their goods etc. all problems business to business people understand and respect. I called them immediately. I asked to speak to the accounting office and told them about their error and to find the customer around that date and get their products out the door while I ship this back into their inventory. As nice as a family company they "appear on their videos", no one said thank you at all to me, as yet. While on the phone I asked the gal to see if I , a business, could get " better pricing", as up to this point I thought the wholesale was too high to use them as a frequent vendor. Come to find out, she said, I had retail customer status! So the sum of what I ordered on that last shipment ended up being some 65$ retail surplus. My application from day one was for business and never knew they set me up retail. She told me to re-apply. TRADE alert, a business applies and you skim over their status and book them as a retail customer? Hmmm. Keep in mind, I called THEM to RETURN a mislabeled box with 200$ worth of inventory that some people would have just kept! Then while on this call I asked about pricing and realized ALL my orders where at the retail price level. I then asked that they reimburse me the difference for the confusion, at least on this order some $65 bucks. It was then, and then only, I got a huge thank you, laying it on thick with christian lingo etc, only to find the end of Zach Grants letter saying, UNFORTUNATELY this is above my authorization level to approve a change of our "policy". In his letter he states the owners were part of the meeting about my case. (meaning a group were called together, including the owners, to hear I returned 200 dollars of goods, found out my company was under the impression I was set up at wholesale level pricing and was charged retail, had asked for refunds and decided to turn down). But despite my return of goods for their benefit, the group, including the owners, decided that" policy stands" and refused to return to me any overpayments. I helped their profit losses, yet they would not show understanding about my losses due to application set up and refused to grant me the 65 dollar over charge on that bill or any other bills I paid since filing a business application. Doesn't this sound distorted? When I mentioned to Zack, "the low level unauthorized to help" person that since the owners were present at the meeting of my request, what is their problem? (it is funny they had a company meeting with the owners to discuss if I deserved some accounting credits after returning 200$ worth of losses to them!) In their position, I would value a customer like this, I would be accommodating to help their profits as they helped me. Or perhaps think, this is a customer I want to keep. So I asked for a credit on my next order. With each request I found out new data , now this Zach is a member of the family and gets firmer and firmer with me. etc etc etc. Really? There was so much tap dancing I thought I was watching Fred Astair! Then I read all these reviews, yes from the retail consumers, and I discover their customer service is horrible at that level also. Bottom line is, when I called them to return inventory into their accounting, they learned what kind of customer I am. When I learned I was not set up properly and asked for refunds I learned what kind of vendor Sailrite is. They took the return, and refused to help me out in the same "samaritan" manner. Bottom line this nepotistic family standing by their "Policies" probably doesn't have a policy for kindness toward honest people and admitting their wholesale procedures have a problems with follow up in spam and mislead the TRADE clientele. Look OUT they don't have your back. Thank goodness there are respectable companies in the trade that have no problem with business customer service and treat clients with mutual respect. Thats where I will buy products. They are short sighted. Hiding behind their own made up policies. Do they have one for when they make a mistake? Nope. Do they value trade clientele, no. read more

What I received was cheap packaging foam that compressed in on itself with the slightest pressure, NOT highly dense and certainly NOT extra firm.
