Day of appointment comes, scheduled to arrive at 10am..no call until 11ish to say he was coming at 12. I leave work at 3 so clearly it wasn't enough time. Then I was told it'll have to be next Wed. Then he said maybe he could come after work but once I said I'll be home at 5 and was in MD...it was more BS. I was never told the process was basically 7 hours!! Richard is an incredible body and paint guru. The only thing better than all of his well earned reviews on yelp, is the quality of his work. He is a very honest and straight forward person. The price he quotes is the price that you will pay no matter what. He came out and repaired a couple deep gashes I had in my front bumper, as well as a couple door nicks on my right side view mirror, and left back panel. He did this all for about what my deductible cost ($250) saving me a claim with my car insurance company and having to go multiple days without my car. His work is clean and immaculate. No matter how close I got to my car I could not tell that there was any work done. He did it right in my driveway for less time than he originally quoted, he was very professional, clean, and left my car and the area looking better then when he got there. I highly recommend him for any and all of your car painting or minor repair needs. He was very straight forward when I asked him about a paint issue on another car. He was honest (very rare nowadays) and said that he recommends I go to a paint shop, as he was not sure he could do it perfectly. Great Experience! I contacted Richard after researching local companies that do similar types of work. I had at one point used such a service in CA with excellent results. Richard scheduled me promptly and arrived within the time window given. He got to work and took care of a couple of other similar issues while here. His price was completely reasonable and fair. If you're reading this, hopefully this will be the last time something unfortunate happens to your car. But in your situation right now, I can tell you that Richard does top-notch work, works quickly, and charges a fair price that represents a significant value when compared to local body shops. The biggest thing for me, though, was the time savings. He did something in two hours that would have had most body shops keep my car for 2 days, perhaps some even longer. The whole commitment was three hours as he said to let it sit for another hour before driving it. That's less than half a day of missed work, so I definitely can't complain. The work he did was flawless. I had a pretty decent ding that came from hitting a pole in my garage (every time I pull into my spot I wonder how I did something so boneheaded, but I digress). He filled in the ding that was half on the body half on the bumper, evened out the surface, and matched the paint perfectly. All done very quickly. A last note is that he's reliable, responds promptly to email, and is super professional on the phone. Honestly, those were not exactly three attributes I expected when I booked with a mobile service, but I wanted to give it a try due to the time issue discussed above. I thought there was going to be like an 80% chance I was going to be dealing with a lazy dipshit that was independent because he couldn't hold down a job at a brick-and-mortar body shop. Richard is exactly the opposite. He's really an artist when it comes to his work and he also must have at least a decent business/operational mind because he recognized this opportunity and seems to be doing quite well (his schedule was pretty full, even more than a week out). My expectations were admittedly fairly low, but this was my mistake. As I said, Richard is incredibly professional on every front and I'm sure you will be impressed by him on every front, as I was. I had scratched my front bumper while accidentally hitting the column in the parking garage.. this seems to be a common thing in these reviews. I texted Richard and sent him a picture. He responded promptly with a quote, availability, and amount of time it would take. He actually came about an hour early than my scheduled time which was great! It took about 2 hours or so to fix, he did a great job even while working in the scorching heat. The paint dried very quickly and I could tel where the paint job started it was a little faded and not smoothed, very minor things I noticed. Richard told me to wait until the next day for it to dry completely and if I'm not satisfied, he will come back to fix it. The next day, he dropped by and sanded everything down until it was perfect and I was satisfied! Great service and great price. Very convenient for not having to rent a car or go to a body shop. It's hard to express what an exceptional job Richard did for me and overall what a complete professional he is; not only about how he works, but how he interacts with you! He turned a disaster of a situation around with my SUV where a guy not only didn't match my paint, but left it with flat, ugly paint after some mediocre body work. I hadn't worried about scratches on my SUV until I got ready to trade it in and needed to get the most value for it. I needed the job done quickly and well, without dumping a whole lot of $. Richard was awesome, I highly recommend him for surface paint work. 1. professional, courteous, friendly, communicated clearly by phone and text. Brings a generator so doesn't need to plug in anywhere. 2. punctual ... actually had an earlier opening that day and offered it to me, which worked much better. 3. gave me an accurate estimate over the phone with an exchange of photos and description. Final cost was $15 more for an area that required wet sanding... and he buffed out driver's side handle scratches I hadn't requested or pointed out without going over the estimate. There were a few other gouge areas to the plastic fender and inside door he readily and freely gave me advice about handling as they required more extensive intervention. 4. as noted above, he did not take on work he felt he could not do well and was honest about it. I was actually initially a little annoyed that he was not entirely comfortable with completing the job on the street and we ended up finding a spot in the alley behind my home and I had to move my car. But I fully understand that he was considering safety and his comfort with completing a good job ... and that earns him respect in my book. The entire process was easy, pleasant and inexpensive. Can't believe I waited so long and definitely won't the next time. I am a new city dweller and Capitol Hill is NOT an ideal parking locale. My advice for others like me is to consider scoping out an appropriate area the night before if you live on a busier street and park your car there so it's accessible and safe, Or talk to a neighbor who has a spot in a back alley. My car got keyed while parked on the street. There were two 15- inch long gouges on the passenger door and fender. They went through the clear coat and, in certain spots, paint.
