Finally a real brasserie in the East Village. The bar area with thousands of bottles. The music, from Ella to Blossom Dearie to classic jazz. To friendly personable sevice in the restaurant area near the window looking out on Second Avenue. And a full excellent menu. Originals like avocado tartin and salmon Moroccan style, old favorites like mussels (very fresh, lovely broth). The mushroom tartin has a great selection of fungus with melted cheese on sourdough bread. The beef Tartare has great add-on selection of Hawaiian black sea-salt, quail aggs, shallots etc etc. Next time will try the escargots, or a daily special like frog's legs or Tuesday's farmer-style beans cassoulet, Too many choices for one try (the dessert menu with mousse etc not as imaginative as appetizers, entrees etc), but all we had was excellent, and Executive Chef Frederick Piccarello rightly puts his name on the menu. Oh, the wine list looks good, but we had tast cocktails. Prices? Fair! Two of us, with a drink each, entrees, appetizers and a shared dessert paid $93. We still love the East Village Thai, Lao, Szechuan, Slav etc restaurants. But when in the mood for French food, Brasserie Saint-Marc is now our only choice read more

Although I had high hopes for this restaurant, I must say that I was deeply disappointed with the overall experience. While the hostess was cordial and seated us promptly, the same cannot be said for the servers, who despite being very polite, failed to provide us with the level of service one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Our waiter disappeared for an extended period of time, preventing us from ordering our meals in a timely fashion, and the cocktails we eventually received took an inexcusably long time to arrive(20+mins!). Meanwhile, other tables seemed to be receiving much more attention from the servers. This sort of neglect left us feeling overlooked. Despite the quality of the appetizers (tuna crudo was excellent), we were eager to leave as soon as possible, as the rest of the experience had left a sour taste in our mouths. Additionally, we were dismayed to learn that our waiter had neglected to inform us of the presence of nuts in one of the dishes we ordered, the server ended up placing the dish on the table and then asking if we were allergic. In short, I feel that this establishment has much room for improvement when it comes to service. read more

This place is an absolute gem, especially the speakeasy downstairs. There is something about the vibe that feels both exclusive and welcoming at the same time. I recently hosted a night here, and it could not have gone better. As a retired NYC promoter who has experienced countless venues over the years, I can honestly say this one delivers on every level. The atmosphere, the layout, the music, and the staff all come together perfectly. I am even thinking about bringing my old crew back for a once-a-month day party on the last Saturday of each month, starting at 3 PM. Expect good people, amazing energy, and some of the best DJs around. If you love good vibes, great drinks, and that hidden speakeasy feel, this venue is the spot. Such a beautiful restaurant with delicious food and drinks. The vibes are wonderful both upstairs in the sit-down restaurant and downstairs in the speakeasy. The staff was sooo sweet and accommodating. We had Branden as our server and he ROCKED. He was managing many other large tables at the same time as us and was still able to fully make sure we were attended to. I've never seen a server work as hard as him. He was so charming and fun to chat to and always made us feel welcomed. We had so much fun. We got multiple cocktails including some craft and they were all very tasty and worth the price! When you're done with dinner, definitely go downstairs to check out the speakeasy. And on the weekends, check it out late at night. We will be going back for sure!!! read more

I met a few people here for drinks. I am a beer/wine guy so I was pretty impressed with the draft selection and the wines. My friends had cocktails and whiskey which they were all very happy with. I had Von Trapp Pilsner and finished the night with a glass of Gamay. We had some food, I got the salmon tare tare which was incredible. They serve it with homemade chips, fresh sliced potatoes. The bartender was great, definitely knew his stuff. The food came out quick, place is really nice, great date spot for sure. Very clean which is refreshing around the area. I really like the spot and will be back. It's new so the vibe was a little off because the place is big so it wasn't more than half full but other than that looks like there's a new gem. read more

If you're looking for a beautiful venue, Brasserie Saint Marc is it. We rented both the Secret Garden and the Chandelier Room for our wedding of 30 guests, and it was the perfect space. It felt intimate without being cramped, while still giving everyone plenty of room to enjoy themselves. A special shout-out to Megan, who was truly our angel throughout the process. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and gave us everything we needed and more. The entire staff was amazing, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would recommend Brasserie Saint Marc to anyone looking for a stunning venue and exceptional service. 10/10! read more

I am French so I saw this new Brasserie and decided to try it out. Food was delicious and they had a nice wine selection. We decided to get a magnum of 2014 La Bernadine. For food we had the duck confit, coq au vin, and escargot. Since they are also Ukrainian we had the Varenyki. The food was excellent. As picky French we were impressed. The decor is gorgeous and the place is very spacious. The staff were nice and we will be back. They are changing the menu weekly and the owner Greg came to the table and told us about it all. Had such a great first dinner here I decided to come again for dinner last night with several friends. Once again it was a great night. I started with the octopus salad which was perfectly cooked. For my entree I had the Saturday plat du jour which was grilled filet mignon. I ordered it rare and it was perfect. For dessert this time around I I couldnt decide between the chocolate mousse & creme brulee so I ordered both. They were both a bit of heaven. Not only was the food fantastic but so was the service. I decided to throw my baby shower here recently. I was a little nervous because they were a new restaurant, but I fell in love with the space so I decided to try it. Everything was great, the food, the staff were all very nice and helpful, we were all very happy in the end. The space is very photogenic, all of our photos came out great!!! The lighting was perfect and everyone was jealous I picked such a great space. We hosted a party for about 70 people in the main bar, working with Megan to set it up. Couldn't have asked for a better venue and better team. The hostess Nya, coordinator Megan, the bartender Bart - they all made it such a good experience for our guests. They designed and printed out a custom cocktail menu for the event, helped us decorate, and let us use the iPad to put our own music on.
