Cute spot. Good place for a casual happy hour gathering with friends or a date. The drinks were good. Decent happy hour prices. 5/5 Ended up trying some of the food. Fish and chips were just ok. 2 pieces of fish (2-3 bites per piece) over fries for 22 dollars. It was ok. I liked the crispness of the fish but there was a bit of a fishy taste to it maybe from old oil? Not sure. The fries were fine, but nothing special. I wouldn't buy this again. You can get an order of fries for 10 dollars. I don't think the 2 pieces of fish were worth 12 dollars. 3/5 Brussel sprouts with balsamic and pine nuts. There was a puddle of vinegar on the bottom... that was confusing. Made the sprouts on the bottom soggy. Usually it's a balsamic glaze. 2/5 Giving this place a 4 overall because the staff and service were very friendly. Would go back for happy hour drinks. read more

First time and truly the last here. Will Never come back. July 2nd 2026 11pm. It was 96 degrees INSIDE the bar!!! Inside The establishment. Some1 should inform them we're not doing hot yoga. It was 91 degrees outside. I asked the bartender if we can open the door and his response was "I'm not opening that door". No apology or explanation why customers should sit inside a nearly 100 degree bar. just a very nasty and rude Bartender. I assume he'd been asked by other customers To open the door but his attitude was unacceptable. Came here on a Friday evening, part of 4, without a reservation for a few drinks. If you only want drinks, you can mingle at the bar or around a few high tables. We eventually got hungry and wanted some food and they were able to seat us when a table opened. One Drinks we got: *one point of confusion was we realized we had 2 different versions of the menu, one had some different drinks. They took all the order though - Midnight espresso: good espresso martini! - pickle time: very sour (maybe too much?), lots of dill - wrenquila: if you love a spicy marg, you will LOVE this drink. There is something very very cool about The Wren. I hate to admit it but we were those last two patrons who wanted a drink before heading out and the Wren I had been to before. They did not need to seat us but they did and even though it was 10 minute stay at the bar and because we care about people it was an order-and-pay kinda thing. We were here maybe 7 minutes but we wanted to let you know this kind of embracing is why New York is very kind, cool and heartfelt. We cashed out and left but we really appreciated it. Only rating 4/5 stars because I feel that, although good, the food is a bit overpriced. I had a passion fruit margarita that did hit the spot but $16 seems like a bit much. I had a chicken sandwich which was recommended by the bartender. I can't say that I recall seeing bbq sauce on it on the menu and it had a bit too much for my liking, making the sandwich too wet. I didn't hate it though, but would have preferred mayo or something other than bbq sauce. The fries were really good, and a large portion, but not a $10 worth. The interior is super cute and I did enjoy my meal and the service. However, it was a bit bougie for my taste so I wouldn't put it at the top of my list. read more

Being a Saturday night, it was pretty crowded, but it was after 10, so it wasn't too hard to snag an outside table (not first come, first serve, you do have to check in with the host). I had the smoked brisket croquettes with house mustard, which missed the mark for me. The flavor was pretty weak. The kale and artichoke dip with gruyere cheese and sourdough bread fared better. Overall a decent bar/snack menu that also boasts whipped ricotta, shishito peppers. Mains = friend chicken sandwich, a burger, a turkey club, fish and chips, a couple salads, schnitzel. For drinks, I had the garden center (vodka, elderflower, lemon, ginger), the bae watch (basil infused gin, mint, lemon), and the rabasa (tequila, pineapple amaro, cocci americano, lemon, grapefruit, simple, peychauds bitters). The drinks were fine, not as amazing as I thought they would be. The bae watch was my favorite--most flavorful, cleanest, most refreshing. Outside was pretty nice and not loud. Rachel was my server and did a great job. She was rad. Inside was crowded and loud. In fact, if I hadn't been able to sit outside, I would have chosen another place altogether. I wouldn't try this place again on a weekend night, but would try it on a quieter night. Wouldn't go out of my way (so many more creative places in a similar category--Goodnight Sonny, Bandits), but don't write this one off either. read more

Solid Bowery restaurant with interesting food and a good drink selection. I've been coming to the Bowery for years and it's always tricky finding a place thats chill and not too expensive but still has that older Bowery feel. The Wren and its proximity to The Bowery Electric for musicians make it a good pre-gig meal. Came here after soundcheck for just that reason. The wine selection is fairly good and the lighter fare like the shrimp salad was a great pre-gig choice. Delicious poached shrimp over arugula, with pickled fennel, watercress, chips, red wine dressing. The popcorn chicken as a shared plate is also quite good. The dipping sauce crushes. I've heard it's quite good for brunch and would definitely come and try! Also should mention our server was great, was happy to split the check amongst like 8 of us, but we did all in one and they did a great job of keeping our drinks poured. read more

This place is a great spot for brunch! Two of my best friends and I went during the weekend and had the whole place to ourselves. I think we must've gotten there before the rush, but that's fine with us. We had gotten an avocado bowl, waffles, and this delicious goat cheese and artichoke dip. All items were beyond amazing. The service and ambiance were also fantastic. I definitely think this is a great spot that we happened to stumble upon. If I'm in the area again, I would definitely stop by. Really enjoyed my visit to The Wren while visiting NY. I was looking for a restaurant that was open late and luckily their kitchen was open past 11:30pm. It was mid week so it was pretty calm. Such a lovely little place. You walk in and you have a few tables around, the bar area and more tables. We sat in the back area and it was really enjoyable. Real candlelit dinner. Our server was really friendly. We started with a sour beer and a Tom collins. The sour beer was really tasty, as was the Tom collins. Then ordered the white bean hummus which was recommended by the server. It was so delicious and crunchy. We also ordered the veggie burger, it was so fresh and flavorful. Great portion and taste. Also ordered a side of fries which was a big portion and really fresh fries. The ambiance was great. The food was yummy. Truly a little gem in the area. I did try coming back over the weekend and the security was really rude and said the kitchen was closed at 11pm but not letting that encounter ruin my first experience! But definitely keep in mind the kitchen closing time may vary as can some of the staff. Overall, still worth the experience on a week night. read more

Came here for drinks, and when we got there the host was going back and forth on whether we would be able to sit outside or not: Snip, snap! Snip, snap! We did end up getting a seat outside, and the ambiance was nice but the traffic going up and down bowery had me unable to hear my own thoughts at points. After a subpar espresso martini, I pivoted to a Watermelon High that also ended up being subpar. Just a bit too sugary for my liking. I came here for an event one of my business contacts who I hadn't seen in a while was speaking at for an organization with a very worthwhile purpose. I didn't have a typical customer experience as this was a private event but I did have food and water there and I have to say the food I had was good and service was on point though it did get crowded so you may want to consider using this space for your smaller, more intimate gatherings. Came by for snacks and drinks on a Monday night. It was so yummy I came back for brunch on Saturday. They have really good outside seating for people who are COVID conscious, partially open and there's working heaters at some of the tables. Nomz: The shishito peppers were very good, super well seasoned and flavorful, huge portion. Popcorn chicken was nicely cooked, it had like a cajun-y seasoning that was really good. The chicken sandwich was really tasty and good size, wish it came with fries! Drinks: I had the Singapore sling and it was yummy, not too sweet. Our organization had an after-party/cocktail hour downstairs. Despite the massive turnout, the night didn't feel all that cramped in the beginning. The lines at the bar ran quick, and they were gracious enough to consistently refill and offer apps, even for the later comers and passerbys. Stopped here around 3PM on a rainy Sunday. There were enough people in that didn't make it empty which was nice. The cocktails were interesting but none of them really stood out to me so I just ordered a gin and tonic and the others in my group ordered the midnight espresso (7/10 the chocolate bitters was too much and the drink looked very light and o espresso beans were added on the top) the rhinestone eyes which looked more like a champagne cocktail but my friend didn't even finish it, and the chai it out which was apparently decent but I didn't try. We also ordered the fries (8.5/10) which were solid and the Brussel sprouts side (5/10) not crispy enough for me. Wonderful staff, food, service and drinks. I came here for a company holiday party and the staff were amazing. From the initial planning to the execution of the event I was very impressed. Elizabeth, who I worked with to plan the event was so accommodating, and Rachel the bartender was amazing. I'm not a big alcohol drinker but she made the perfect drink to suit my taste buds. It's a nice bar/restaurant, a bit on the dimmer side, but it's very nice. It can get a bit loud, but that's because of the way the room is. There's not too much variety for food, so it's more of a bar type of eatery, so if you want a full meal, this might not be the place for you,but they have fantastic drinks and is perfect for a get-together with friends or colleagues. The vibe at The Wren is undeniably good--cozy, trendy, and perfect for a casual night out. However, the service left a lot to be desired. We waited for quite a while before finally having to flag down a server to take our order. When they did come over, they were friendly enough, but the delay set a poor tone for me. We ordered the bruger and the Chipotles chicken sandwich from the Brunch menu, When the food arrived, we discovered that neither the burgers nor the chicken sandwich came with fries. Personally, I feel it's a reasonable assumption that burgers come with fries--but apparently not here. That being said, the food itself was absolutely delicious and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the experience took a downturn later when I fell ill with some tummy issues. While it's hard to definitively pinpoint the cause, it did leave me with a less-than-stellar impression of the overall dining experience. I haven't asked my friend if she had any issues yet, but when I find out I'll update the post. So, while The Wren is a nice spot with great food, a few missteps-- lackluster service, an unexpected upcharge for fries and post-meal discomfort--prevented it from earning a higher rating. read more

Came here for casual drinks on a Sat around 6pm. We didn't make a reservation but they were able to seat us in a table by the window. There is seating outside and inside. Charming place with great cocktails, loved the copper mule! We got popcorn chicken, fries, and artichoke dip (LOVED THIS!) to share with the table. I have also been here for dinner and enjoyed the burger. Drinks are about around 15 for cocktails which is pretty standard for NYC. Apps were also about 10-15 and the entrees were 15-20. This was a fantastic experience from start to finish! A repeat worthy visit absolutely. The Wren is a cozy, candle lit, unpretentiously authentic Irish Pub, with some real wood stumps to dine off of in the small entryway section. We were warmly greeted quickly, and the waitstaff were patient while we got settled and chose two entrees and two drinks, one for each of us, although we ended up sharing. They were glad to offer extra info about what different dishes might be like size wise, although the menu descriptions were fairly detailed otherwise. Yes, as at most pubs you would hope for hearty, tasty, filling food, and this selection went well above and beyond that! The waiter brought two extra small plates to help us out. The homemade burger was very tasty, a hand formed thick patty, no trendy smashburgers here, put together with care and quality ingredients. It was messy as a juicy burger should be, generously sauced. It was properly grilled to order, not dried out. The fish and chips meal was equally good, nicely golden beer battered, with hand cut moist inside and crisp outside fries, just like the fish. Deliciously decadent fresh tartar sauce and lemon wedges enhanced this meal. The creatively inventive drinks were satisfying and tasty in their own right. The waitstaff seemed genuinely friendly and eager to know how we liked our food and drinks, if we needed anything more such as condiments, more napkins, but not obnoxiously so, just attentive and timely. This was our early evening stop in NYC, fresh off a first time subway experience, and in many ways it was a highlight of our entire trip, surpassing any expectations for a restaurant, especially a pub; but sometimes the simpler more committed small places can really deliver! read more

The whipped ricotta being removed from the menu is the greatest disservice to regular patrons and we really need it back. Overall would love more shareable snacks and please a crudo!!!!
