More competent & intelligent staff. Every time I ask questions about my husband's health & condition, these nurse(s) always respond "I don't know". Why don't you know? They make-up Kakaiexcuses. In addition, I asked the nurses about my husband's vitals, sugar levels and so on. They say "good". What does this mean? I feel like I have to pull these answers out-of-them. They make a deep exhale breath (it's like OMG). I tried to speak with a charge nurse. She told me that I got the wrong side. What?! Then she hanged-up on me. I like going there because they treats my husband's health enough to get him home. They don't get to the root cause: they just bandage the system by medication but not the cause. read more

I would not recommend this hospital or ER, if you live in Murfreesboro you will have to travel a bit but its your health and if you can make it 30 min drive its best to try the hospital in Smyrna or Franklin. I spent 51 days dealing with what over 20 Doctors I seen said was pneumonia every time, one said cancer, I was admitted 5 times spending anywhere from 1 day to 2 days in the hospital a total of 10 days in there, and pumped full of antibiotics for about 42 of those 51 days and it got worse, I was told by my primary who isn't affiliated with them to come to her hospital in Franklin and was diagnosed on my sodium issue in 12 hours and the lungs they tested and found it is not bacterial again in 12 hours , waiting for fungal results and if neg they are doing a lung biopsy in 2 or 3 days to find out what it is. I am happy with the doctors where I'm at because they are in my room her everyday and explaining everything to me. use St Thomas at your own risk, the rooms are really nice the nurses were great every time, I am also happy they use pain killers to make you comfortable and not weird about it but other than that it is very tough to find anything good to say about them. The doctors here just seem to put you through the system and don't diagnose very well at all. read more

My husband is currently a patient in this hospital. He has been in for a week now. I am not going into details but I can assure you as a retired RN, the care from the hospitalist and most nurses is not only subpar but dangerous. I have had a couple of very good nurses but it appears that nursing care in the hospital any more consists of giving medications. I could get that in a nursing home. There was rarely an assessment done. The leg he had surgery on was never looked at. His ice pack was not filled unless I asked for it. He only receives water if we ask for it and he cannot get up or bear wt on his affected leg. He now has congestive heart failure which the hospitalist misdiagnosed for 4 days before I could get a cardiologist in to see him. I asked for one every day. Now, although the above seems like details, let me assure you it is not. It was so bad it was almost humorous to the point I had to fire the hospitalist and get someone else in as my husband with a broken leg, kept getting worse and worse. So many people that are non-medical think they received great care because the nurse smiled at them and was nice. Look out for those smiles because they do not mean they are competent. I will be going to Williamson Medical Center or Nashville from now on. I do wish to thank the couple of nurses on the floor that did listen to me and obtained the help we needed. Visited Oct 05, 2023. I'm not sure how I feel about the hospital but let's just say it's a love/hate relationship. The doctors and some staff here are wonderful. There's ample parking in certain lots and free valet. The hospital also have automated phone reminders (some are calls/some are texts). I love/prefer the text reminders so I can refer back to and the Check-In process is electronic. The overall point I'm trying to make - we, both customer and providers, are trying to move paperless and be efficient through technology. Well as I come for my appointment - all I know is it being at address 1700 Medical, Nuclear Medicine Department, and to arrive 30m early for appointment at 7:30A. Perfect, I come and arrive at 6:50A and parking is a nightmare due to construction. I make my way in and ask for directions to Nuclear Medicine for an appointment. They direct me then I come across Kristy P. (KP). Me standing at the check-in desk (I assume because there was a sign in sheet) KP: Can I help you? Me: I have an appointment in Nuclear for a treadmill test. (Viewing phone for specifics) KP: As a future note, make sure you bring the paper copy. Me confused: Oh okay. KP asks again what I'm here for then I proceeded to tell her and show her my phone. She berates me and comments "I hate stuff on phones, you young people." More checking and comments were made since my name was not on her printed listed. At first was just thinking "Must hate her job" because she was sighing and tossing the papers and pen aside and told me to take a seat after making the call to confirm my appointment. An employee from the back appears saying "Good morning", she replies "is it?" Which almost strengthens my assumption. However after I'm seated her tone of voice changes to a gentler tune and she starts asking everyone waiting if they've been helped and proceeds to tells someone in passing good morning. Definitely felt discriminated. Another employee, Susan, comes from the back, asked if I have stickers which is provided at check in. Now I was not told about any stickers and did not check in anywhere but that department since I did the same last time I was there. Apparently I was suppose to check in by the Main entrance doors - didn't know and was not instructed to do so by anyone. It's okay because Susan said they will check me in then I can head back to the department when complete. Check-in were the same people I asked for directions earlier. This whole process of waiting cluelessly plus checking-in was from 7-7:40A. Then headed back to the department and here Kristy is again: "Oh lord," rolls her eyes, sighs.. "They sent you back." Grabs my paper and calls the back to inform them I'm ready. Honestly, sure it's convenient to have my appointment reminder sheet, but that's just it - it's a useful resource for the patient. The sheet also says what to bring. No where on the sheet nor have staff told me to bring my appointment sheet. What's irritating is knowing staff at other hospitals do not even come close to being aggravated or angry at the patient about checking in for an appointment more than here Rutherford's Ascension St. Thomas (only with the older staff not the younger). When it was my time to head back for my Treadmill Test, the two attending employees Ashley S. & Susan we're wonderful. They conversed and made sure I was okay for the entire PT. I hope they stay because they made the sour start turn around to a great end. read more

Absolutely unbelievable service! I was in the ER waiting room for 3 AND A HALF HOURS waiting to be seen while people were walking in and waiting 5 min just to be brought back. I was throwing up blood and kept getting pushed to the back until I was the VERY last person in the waiting room. Then we get called back just to wait 40 min in our own room and never received help. I ended up walking out and hopefully I don't die since I couldn't get any help at a HOSPITAL!!!! Do no go here! I had a recent stay at Ascension St Thomas. I am happy to say that my stay was very good. This review comes from a nurse who has been a nurse for over 30 years. This review comes from a nurse who has been a nurse for over 30 years. The care I received from this hospital more than met criteria. In many ways, my expectations were exceeded. My OR experience was exceptional. The entire process from preop testing to PACU was amazing. All of the staff were very informative, concerned that I knew what was going to happen at all times, and very respectful. I can't think of a time that I've had a better surgical experience since I handpick my own staff for my last C-section. The nursing care was absolutely brilliant. All nurses that I dealt with were very professional, kind and accommodating. I could tell they were from varying levels of experience, but only because of my level of experience. They all handled themselves with exceptional decorum. Pain medication was delivered in a very timely fashion. Care was very appropriate. And they did listen to any concerns I had. The accommodations were great for my stay. It was spacious and easy to navigate. I was very impressed with the multifaceted over bed table. In fact, my only complaint is that the mattress on the bed was a bit harsh, but I had plenty of pillows to negotiate. Environmental services staff were very professional and kind. I commend all of them for the wonderful job of cleaning and actually communicating with patients. I had a very good rapport with anyone that came in my room. It doesn't seem like it, but even environmental services staff can make a difference in anyone's stay. The only truly difficult point I had with my stay was dietary. It is of exceptional importance to be mindful of patient allergies. One of my allergies is aspartame. And I was constantly having to correct dietary services from leaving behind aspartame laden Jell-O and drink mix. it really just stresses me that dietitians aren't taking a bigger approach and making sure the patient's allergies are attended to. Aspartame leads to anaphylaxis for me. This is not a mistake I can afford. Not everyone is like me, however, I believe that more care should have been displayed with my situation. Luckily, I question everything and I'm a supreme advocate for my care. But for others in may not be as knowledgeable, this can be a death knell. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my stay, and will be coming back if I ever need Care again. I thank all of the doctors, nurses, and staff for their diligence, professionalism and care. Amazing staff and amazing care!!! Came here for awful chest pain another hospital had told me was just a UTI. Nobody bother was something more serious wrong until I came here. They immediately sent me to imaging and concluded my bile duct was obstructed. They're super fast I had everything fixed the next day. The staff and friendly and polite. Always have issues when I come here but this last visit was the worst. My husband went in for chest x rays and an ekg, took three hours, and that was annoying but expected. After we discharge and get all the way home, we realize he left his keys there. We have a lot going on today, and tomorrow as his birthday, we're on a tight schedule. However, we go back to get them after calling and them saying they are in the lost and found. Expecting to walk in and pick up his keys, we have now been here for OVER AN HOUR, while the security guard sits and stares at us, saying someone else has to get them because they were "lost" on shift change. So our lost and found was lost? Cool. The kicker was that when my husband walks in, he is patted down excessively and asked several times if he has a weapon, and told to spin on the metal detector about seven times, and SLOWER each time, as if he couldn't believe he didn't have anything on him. That set me off, so I walked in from the car and when i reached security, he barely looked at me and let me walk through. My husband has face piercings and happed to be wearing all black, i do not. And we're still just sitting here, over an hour later, waiting for nothing because the security guard "can't do anything" So no one can help us? Awesome. If you have a choice drive past this hospital and go to another. Terrible doctors and nurses. I was unconscious and taken here after a car accident. Woke up and they had my birthday wrong. Tried to tell them multiple times and the nurse said "it's fine" my sister also tried to correct her and she kept waving it off. I couldn't stand without falling. Was told I'm fine and literally rolled in a wheelchair to the door. They thought I had no health insurance and just wanted me out. I had to call multiple times to put my health Insurance on and to fix my birthdate as they wouldn't give me my records for the car insurance since my birthday didn't match their records. Went to another hospital 2 days later and was told I had a concussion and a sprained neck as well as nerve damage on both of my legs and got an infection on my stomach from the burns from the seat Belt. This place is a joke. Please go somewhere else if you want to be treated like a person. read more

ER good, hospital never. Don't leave your loved one there for even a minute alone especially an elderly loved one. They try to get elderly out ASAP one way or the other and don't believe that because they are a catholic hospital that they aren't palliative / hospice "happy." My Mother died there I believe needlessly. Among other things they did they put a feeding tube into her lungs. When I got the 800+ pages of documentation we were stunned. It's like the ER said one thing, the surgeon said the same as the ER, and then one hospitalist started a deplorable chain of events. ER good, hospital never. I miss my Mom who I cared for, for 23 years. When I initially refused Palliative (which her surgeon did NOT send) APS magically appeared and I was surrounded by a gaggle of staff who wouldn't listen to me even though I was her FF and POA. My mom had to go in for surgery here this past week for a possible life or death issue. They took exceptionally good care of her and she is at home now recuperating and doing well. Thanks to the amazing staff of caregivers she will be around for a number of years to come. read more

Dr. Evans is a joke. He has always judged me and is honestly never willing to fully help me. Ive had issues with him in the past. With this visit, i needed an MRI because i had a head injury and i am on a blood thinner and i was having lots of issues and was told by my hematologist that i needed an mri to get a more in depth look at my head and i told Dr. Evans that and he refused to do it. He laughed at me and said it wont show anything and that he will do ANOTHER CT scan. I told him i didnt want to be exposed to more radiation and he still didnt respect my wishes. He only spent 2 minutes, if that, with me examining me saying all i had was a "little bump on the head." He is a joke of a doctor and he is not a good doctor what so ever. Hes not a dr for the right reasons. As long as he is working there, i will NEVER be back. read more

I was in a mental health crisis the week of July 10th. I'm out of town (visiting my grandparents, who has very little understanding of Mental Health) First, I was beyond Frustrated with the Tennessee Crisis Lines... which left no other choice to call A Suicide Hotline (local to my home town) because of my area code. After constant frustration, 911 was my last option. I didn't need an ambulance, Just wanted to see if I could sit down to talk to a mental health professional about my anxiety. The police that showed up to my grandparents door around 8am Friday 7/15, they suggested a doctor office visit. The doctor wasn't available and too far away (In Nashville) (grandparents live in Murfreesboro) . So I made that decision, Take me to the ER! After checking in, luckily getting back quickly, sitting in the ER for 5-6 hours without anyone to talk with was absurd. I was scared, had no idea what I gotten myself into, and laid in a bed (in a hallway) for that long. People were too busy to ask how I was doing and only came to talk about where to go from there. No communication either. They come, ask me questions and leave for hours before the next update. Let me tell you... leaving anyone , especially a young gal, like me, (25) with high anxiety alone basically I think is not expectable. Shaking with anxiety and stressed out no one is there to calm me down. It was traumatic. read more

I wouldn't leave any stars if I could for this place. We came in through the ER with my sister having a massive heart attack. The nurses were rude. They told her to just breath. Well....she's having a heart attack so naturally she was gasping for air. We sat in the ER waiting room and watched the nursing staff mistreat a 91 year-old lady and a pregnant lady in labor. That was just the beginning. My sister has suffered at the hands of unprofessional nurses, case managers, and unreachable doctors. If your life depends on it, you better keep on rolling to Nashville before stopping at this place. They don't want you there anyway. Go somewhere that cares. read more

I went to this location on 12/15 in active labor. While I'm in the middle of laboring without the epidural because only one anesthesiologist is on call and is in a C section, I have to fill out a bunch of forms on my phone for insurance and to update my information. That's ridiculous. What makes it even more ridiculous is that even though i completed and submitted the forms i still receive statements from the hospital with my old insurance from when I went there yearsss ago. So I go online and update my insurances for the second time. Then I receive a bill only showing one of my insurances on there (I have 2). SECOND so I deliver my baby and they come in have me fill out paperwork for his social, birth certificate, insurance, and Imagination Library. Tell me why I only receive my childs social? I had to go to the health department and get his birth certificate after waiting 2 months for it to come in the mail. And when I call his insurance to get updates I'm informed the hospital never sent over his paperwork to apply for Tenncare. So I do it myself after being told the hospital would do it on my behalf. Then I go to check if he was ever registered for Imagination Library and of course he wasn't. Strongly disappointed and concerned with the way this hospital is handling patient information and paperwork. The only reason this isn't 1 start is because the nursing staff is awesome. read more

This is a horrible place with no compassion for the elderly. I stupidly chose them instead of sending my mother by ambulance to Vanderbilt. The doctors and staff all have different stories and want to get rid of your loved one as soon as possible because they don't want the liablity. You are left with very poor choices or hiring private care, which is not covered by Medicare and/or supplemental insurance, so it'e extremely expensive. I waited about 4 hours just to see Triage, then another 2 before going back to the ER where i felt like i was shoved in a corner. we passed by plenty of free beds but i got a small room the size of a closet with no bed, no tv. Mind you this was at 2 am when i was so tired and i was there for a leg injury where i could not stand so it would have been great to lay down. I felt like they rushed me once i was back there. The doctor seemed cold. The nurses, triage, front door security were all super sweet and accommodating though. i was surprised they never took a urine sample/blood sample as I had an injury that could be caused by an infection and I did have a low grade fever. The ultrasound was the quickest one i have ever done and I've had several done at another hospital. Then after it all i was pretty much told to follow up with someone else to get an MRI.. still confused on why they didn't just do one there? read more

Almost midnight and I have been awake since 9:00 am Tuesday. Constant pain and bloating in my midsection. Medical Tech just came in to take vials and said I am running a slight temperature. I thought I was feeling warmer than usual. Didn't get to see the doctor after the surgery and the nursing said that it would be sometime Thursday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. I guess patients at Saint Thomas are not high priority since MMC Doctors only work with Saint Thomas. I sent Nancy home so she could get some rest. I wish I had gone to Stone Crest in Smyrna they reviews are fantastic compared to Saint Thomas. I've had three nurses today and they work hard, but they were all contract folks. Good people just not enough of them, but some of thr recruiters reviews about Saint Thomas were disappointed with upper management. I think the county needs to give Vanderbilt a chance to build a hospital here to complete. Everyone call you county Rep. Thanks for all the well wishes. read more

Rude nurses, people walking around listening to music on their phones at full volume (aren't hospitals supposed to be quiet places?), and everything seems a little dirty. It feels a bit like a prison facility. There's no reason this place should be as expensive as it is. It's like getting treatment at a Dollar General. Have both worked and been a patient here. All in all, the sense I get from this place is this: they care more about the money they make than the patient. I only give one extra star for the few and far between that went out of their way to help me when I was working my very first job there, and for the one nurse that helped me a lot through most of my labor. They should have hired more people in my department, because we were way overworked, and they took advantage of newbies like I was. I was considered only part-time, but was working 40+ hours a week doing multiple jobs for different hospitals under Ascension, cause they needed extra help and it "wouldn't take long". Never got benefits, was fired right before eligibility when I inevitably made a mistake from lack of training and having handling things on my own because I was told I was "smart enough to figure it out." Would use my lunch break to cry in the bathroom, then eat my lunch as I worked. Giving birth there, one nurse that stayed with me all night was the highlight of my experience. So helpful and encouraging for my wishes for my natural birth experience. My good experience ended when it came time to give birth. I was put on my back and my protests that I wanted to be upright as I had in my birthing plan were ignored by staff with me. Whatever works best for y'all though ((eye-roll)). If it wasn't for that, I'd have no complaints. I honestly hope those good nurses who helped me are paid extra, and this hospital does better in taking care of its own. Oh yea. More recently, I had a bill from this hospital mailed to me that I know I had already paid off. So I call billing and tell them so. I was told the system messed up somehow and accidentally resent the bill. Glad that misunderstanding was cleared and I didn't end up repaying. Told them that I hope it didn't happen to other people that may not have remembered paying certain bills and may end up accidentally paying them twice. I really hope that it was an honest error and they diligently call to make sure people that were resent bills don't pay them twice. read more

I recently was admitted for Influenza A and irregular heart beats. From admission to discharge I would give St Thomas a 5 star rating. Excellent care from the nursing, respiratory, pharmacy, physicians, housekeeping staff along w/ delicious meals all made my stay one of healing and rest. Hats off to our community hospital! Some of the nurses are very nice and helpful in the emergency room. Other nurses you can hear just sitting and complaining and not songs professional at all. But they have no blankets anywhere, they had to bring sheets to cover my dad because they were out of blankets. This hospital is all about finding ways to save money. Father-n-law was admitted for Covid, at age 91. He was there for 14 days due to not being able to get a bed in skilled nursing facility for rehab, to get his strength back. He went in talkative, came out a zombie due to dehydration. Why would you not give a 91 yr old man that has Covid an IV of fluids?!! Now he is fighting for his life since he was so dehydrated by the time he went to the skilled nursing facility. It should not matter your age, you should give everyone the care they deserve! This hospital will let you die, they do not care!! read more

I'll start with saying I'm not big on posting about anything but I felt this is one is necessary. About 2 weeks ago my mom (68 years old) who lives in AL was visiting her mom in TN. They were at a store and she had sudden cardiac arrest(no MI and the drs don't have a exact cause) the worker at the store called 911 and started CPR then EMS took over once they got there. She was transported to the ER at Ascension St Thomas Rutherford Hospital. When she arrived she was on the Lucas, with an IO in her shoulder and not breathing. They intubated her and finally got a pulse after 25 minutes total CPR. To make a long story short here's the time line. Saturday -2ish pm cardiac arrest -had emergency heart cath and found she has extensive blockage but had created her own bypasses so cabbage is necessary in the future but not emergent -5ish I get to see her in the ICU. Vitals stable no pressers. Heparin and sedation gtts -7ish weaned from sedation completely unresponsive and continued to be unresponsive until -2ish am wakes up and tries to get out of bed. Put back on sedation meds -throughout the rest of the night and morning she is waking up at times and begins to be appropriate in her responses. Sunday -1ish pm she's extubated -3ish she's able to talk more but has zero short term memory. Can't remember a few days before the episode but long term intact Monday - she continues to improve and by 2ish pm she is moved out of ICU to their step down cardiac unit. The week that follows -she continues to get stronger. She has no memory of what happened but can now recall what's been told that happened. -she has a run of afib one night but they get that under control. This delays discharge for about a week -Tuesday 10 days after the episode she is discharged to go home. She is able to walk and talk and do her own care. When the cardiac surgeon at St Thomas first came to see her on day 2 he told her there is only one word to describe what happed and is a miracle. And we believe that with all our hearts. God was definitely watching out for her and she's only alive because of Him. So my family definitely want to give Him the glory but that's not really why I'm posting this. I'm posting this because God did save her but He used some pretty incredible people in the process. When your family member is in the hospital it's scary but when that hospital is hours away in a different state, more stress is added. The care my mom received at Ascension St Thomas Rutherford Hospital was absolutely incredible!! Every single ICU nurse and tech she had was not only knowledgeable and very effective and efficient but so very kind. They knew that the chances of her surviving were really none but they did everything in their power to change that and to care for us in the process. I was with her during her entire ICU stay so I experienced this first hand. Once she was moved to the step down cardiac floor on the 7th floor I wasn't there the whole time but my dad was and he says they also received fantastic care there as well. I did go and see her a few times when she was on the 7th floor and each time I was there the nurses and techs were attentive and kind. People are really hard on the medical field right now and especially in hospital settings. It doesn't matter how hard some work, someone seems to have something to complain about. It's discouraging for the hard working nurses and techs that go in each day just trying hard to do their job well and all they hear is negative. Please if you get an opportunity to praise someone for doing a good job please do. Don't worry I'm not stopping with the praises here. I'm going to email the hospital and include the names of those who took such good care of us. But I also wanted to post here in hopes that this will encourage you to reach out and thank and praise others if given the opportunity. Thank you Ascension St Thomas Rutherford Hospital nurses and techs for great care and a job well done! A life was given a new chance because of you and your dedication to your job. read more

WORSE ER EVER! They always seem understaff! Everything BEYOND the doors going back to the rooms is Just nasty! I was there passing kidney stones and was running back and fourth vomiting and having to pee in the restroom by the nurses station, have to skip over blood and vomit from other people! Doctors verbally berate patients, ignore standard procedures and guidelines, and directly ignore boundaries set by patients. Disgusting rude behavior from several nurses and staff members is completely unacceptable for a place that should be dedicated towards making people feel safe and healthy. Instead, staff consistently treat unwell patients like they're stupid and violate physical boundaries, like when I asked several times to not be touched on a specific part of my body only to have several members directly ignore this request, making me and others extremely uncomfortable. The staff are so dehumanizing and unacceptable towards mentally unwell patients, this place is a disgrace to the medical field for allowing such behavior to fly under the radar for so long. read more

Worst parking. Waiting on road rage in hospital in parking lot. They took up spaces gave them to valet parking. The upper hospital staff needs to get there head out their butts. You fleece them inside and out you have people forced to drive down turn lane I know that is illegal and when some one gets hit they going to be sued. I brought my dad in for a check up on his blood pressure, at the ER. they did an EKG, took blood samples, X-ray, and MRI. we've been here for six hours already. he has had the iv vain thing in his arm for four hours, just sitting there. and let me tell you when that nurse put it in. he pushed in way too hard because a lot of blood spewed out. he's said it hurts and i've asked the people at the emergency service check in place if we could take it out because it's hurting him. i also asked him what we were waiting for because no one informed me on what we're waiting for. he said okay give me one moment, almost an hour ago. my dad and i are hungry and getting impatient waiting for... what exactly? I don't know. there is already so many one star reviews on almost every platform. save yourself the money and actually go get taken care of else where. even if it's the closest hospital to you, travel a little bit more to get a better service and worth the money. update: after waiting for eight hours, a medical student David Q, was the best and the nicest. the doc was ass and all the other nurses were too. so thank you David Q. he apologized for the long wait and got us out of there as fast as possible. my dad had the iv tube thing stabbed into his arm for six hours. again. we were there at 5 pm and left at 2 am. read more

I took my extremely ill husband to the Ascension emergency department on a Friday afternoon before a Monday holiday. He had already been diagnosed with pancreatitis and gallstones 2 days prior in 2 Alaskan ERs while on a trip. I brought all those records and reports with us. The check in and triage process went smoothly. Once in an exam room the nurse asked him a few questions, hooked him up to a monitor, drew blood and put in an IV line for a bag of fluids. His temperature was not taken, he was not given instructions about going to the bathroom - the nurse left the room. I'M SO GLAD I WAS WITH HIM TO BE HIS ADVOCATE. I had to ask that his temperature be taken. I had to ask for a urinal. The young lady in charge of registering him, handed me a "tablet", and as she left the room told me she was just across the hall if I needed assistance. She was on her cell phone when I finished registering my husband. Four hours and 3 doctors and 1 nurse later, another ultrasound and chest X-ray done, we learned Ascension surgeons don't like to be inconvenienced on Friday evenings. my husband was discharged with 2 prescriptions - one of which was written incorrectly so the pharmacy could not fill it. I called the emergency department and spoke with another physician who was very understanding of my frustration. I learned that Ascension physicians are told what they can do and when they can do it. The only good thing about this hospital is the chaplains/pastors. The nurses here are insensitive. They're very rude. It was so shocking and awful. The rooms were a mess when we visited that I HAD TO clean up. Ridiculous. When you are a health care professional you are not only caring for the patient but as well as keeping good communication and HEART FELT communication with the family of the individual that's sick!!! The care isn't up to a high standard here. They could do much more and be more attentive to their diagnosis. As I believe they misdiagnose. I believe MY family family member WAS misdiagnosed. Funny thing is, is that we were never given a CONCRETE diagnosis and he passed... WE are skeptical and it's extremely upsetting.... We feel this had happened. AND WE WILL FIGHT IT! Doctors take an oath !! SAVE THE PATIENTS!! Don't give up because they're older!!!!!!!! Older individuals don't DESERVE THE CHANCE?!?! When my family member had passed in the ICU and I was carrying my mom and grandma out of the ICU there was a group of nurses RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOORS OF THE ICU... LAUGHING AND HAVING A WONDERFUL CONVERSATION!! Insensitive, ignorant and rude. You see a family walking out crying and barely being able to walk and you are going to carry on your hysterical conversation. This is unprofessional and totally disgusting. I would like to give my thanks to Ali H who was an amazing care taker. THE ONLY CARETAKER THAT PUT HEART AND EFFORT INTO HELPING MY FAMILY MEMBER. She bent over backwards to have good communication and care for my family member. I am grateful for caregivers as herself as well as health care workers like her. Ms. Ali if I could give you 5 stars I would. Also the chaplains at this hospital are wonderful. Very great with communication and extremely supportive and helpful. We are forever grateful for you. Thank you for being the greatest thing about this hospital. UPDATE!!! THEY LIE ON MEDICAL RECORDS FOR LOVED ONES THAT WAS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE!! THEY WROTE THINGS THAT WE DIDNT EVEN HEAR ABOUT FROM THE DOCTORS!! THEY TWIST YOUR WORDS!! IF YOU BY ANY UNFORTUNATE REASON HAVE TO COME TO THIS GOSH AWFUL HOSPITAL, DONT TAKE MAYBE, PROBABLY OR I DONT KNOW AS A RESPONSE!!! Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital - RESEARCH I HAD TO DO BECAUSE THE HOSPITALS STAFF AND HEADS ARE CLUELESS OF ANY NEW RESEARCH!!! CLUELESS - Cardiologists Near Me - Murfreesboro, Tennessee

My husband was admitted as an inpatient for extensive back surgery. He received exemplary care from the Nurses, Techs, Physicians, NP's. As a RN of 36 years, I tend to demand excellent care as I would give to a patient. I had absolutely no complaints. Unfortunately, after we returned home, my husband had a fall that resulted in us returning to the ER. No complaints regarding care there either. They wanted to admit him but he insisted on coming home again. We were only back home for a day when it became apparent that something was terribly wrong and he could not stand up from bed or chair or walk without maximal assist and intensive pain. His surgeon, Dr. Shirzadi was wonderful and directly admitted him due to ER physician's not being in our insurance network. As it was a Sunday, they could not do the MRI he desperately needed so it was done late the next afternoon and the problem was found when the physician reviewed the study the following day. He had to wait one more day to return to surgery which was difficult due to the intense nerve pain he was having. Surgery was a success and his pain was relieved. We are now back in a holding pattern due to our insurance not being timely approving the rehab facility he needs. During our long encounter with the hospital we have only had 1 or 2 caregivers that were not providing the care he needed. I still see this as an excellent overall care experience as there are always 1 or 2 that are not up to standard. While my husband was in the hospital, I had to use my mobility scooter to be able to stay with him most of the time as the distance required to walk from the parking lot to a patient room is impossible for a disabled person. A few things in the hospital became apparent that are barriers to disabled persons that surprised me. The public bathrooms do not have an automatic door opener which I needed to use my device. The gift shop door was impossible for me to access when I wanted to purchase something for my husband. There is not enough handicap parking for a hospital. This was not as much of a problem as I was on the scooter however, for those utilizing walkers, rollators, canes, this is a huge problem. There is no schedule for the transport vehicle in the parking lot and no way to know if it is running or not when you park. I understand that volunteers are the ones manning this however, it should be a paid position that is available at all times when the front doors are accessible. In spite of the slight deficiencies I have mentioned for handicapped individuals, this facility is an absolute "5" rating overall. I thank them for having this available in our area preventing the need to go into Nashville to receive care. read more

This place is a joke, does not take protocols, unorganized, staff communication is terrible. Brought my dad here in which i regret. I live in murfreesboro i would rather die than come here.
