I haven't had Mediterranean food in awhile, so this place made me try something new. The staff was nice and fast working. We enjoyed the steak shawafel and the steak sharwma! Flavor was good. I found the mint lemonade refreshing and add more flavor to my meal. Would recommend, the space is clean and plenty of seating choices. Came here on a Sunday evening FYI!

Stopped at this spot on my way to wine country. It's located right off the freeway in a big complex. I've been to a different location of Sajj, but it's been a few years. I like this sort of "Chipotle model" where you can get what you want in either bowl or wrap form. One of the things I like the most is the huge variety of different toppings you can get, including pickled vegetables, sauces, and spreads. I ended up saying, "I want everything," and it made my bowl more than I could eat at one time. But everything was delicious and fresh. Also, everything comes with a cup of soup, which is pretty good. I like how they have a vegetarian and healthy options. It was a little bit pricey, about $18. If I hadn't been on a road trip, I could have taken it home and had two meals for that price. Definitely a quick spot for lunch, a few tables inside to sit at.

I was really missing CAVA and was looking for something like it in the Bay Area. I found Sajj in San Bruno which other reviewers said had a similar feel, but I don't think Sajj is quite up to the mark despite charging CAVA-like prices. I got the chicken shawarma and what I received was well and truly a "slop" bowl with flavors that don't really mix well together. The only positive here was that they give you a free portion of lentil soup which I thought was a nice touch.

This place checks all the boxes. Healthy options? Check. Full of flavor? You bet. Options for everybody (including kids)? Yes. Not to leave out customer service for a great value. The quality of what you're getting, wholesome ingredients and with a solid portion make this a slam dunk. Home run.

Love their food and system. It's an easy in and out, and you get to pick what you want. For me...it is pomegranate chicken. rice and a lot of toppings. The food was a 5 but I was waited on by a super grumpy woman who seemed mad and did not say a word or crack a smile the whole time, which was off putting.

Great service from Jose, Adrian, Marie, and German. Food was so good and the staff there were all very kind. They catered to my needs as a person who has dietery restrictions and eats plant based. Great for vegans and vegetarians!

Sajj Mediterranean continues to impress with its exceptional service and inviting ambiance, making for a truly enjoyable dining experience. The staff's attentiveness and the restaurant's pleasant atmosphere consistently contribute to a positive visit. The Salad Bowl with steak is a highly recommended choice, delivering on both flavor and freshness. Coupled with the complimentary lentil soup, it provides a delicious and satisfying meal that keeps diners coming back. It's clear that Sajj Mediterranean maintains its high standards, offering delectable food and a welcoming environment that enhances the overall dining experience for all its patrons. Maria served me and she gave excellent service!

Sometimes, you just have to try something again and again until you develop a taste for it. I had never been a huge fan of some Mediterranean dishes, Hummus, Falafel, Baba Ghanoush were dishes that I usually passed on. Then some friends introduced me to a "new" Mediterranean restaurant near our house that was fantastic. So, now I'm trying to expand my knowledge and experience. My mom has frequent doctor's appointments nearby SAJJ, so we decided to give them a try. We had our dog with us, so we needed to be seated outside. Looking on yelp and using the filter to find outdoor seating, we saw the ratings were decent. Driving up, we saw that they had two outdoor tables but we only needed one for the three of us plus the dog. We looked over the menu and I placed the order using the QR Code. When I got to the end of the transaction, I needed to have my wife go inside and let them know that our order was to be eaten on premises and not packaged to go. When the food was ready, everything was delivered to our table. Here's what we got: Drinks - Diet Coke, Strawberry Lemonade, Water (my mom always wants hot water, but they apparently don't serve it?). The Strawberry Lemonade was a bit on the sweet side but it was nice and refreshing. Diet Coke is Diet Coke. Lentil Soup - 5 - This comes free with every combination order. It was a bit on the thin side but it was very flavorful. Something I could drink every night during winter. Pomegranate Chicken Plate - 3 - All of the accompaniments were good but the Chicken itself did not have any discernable pomegranate flavor. Chicken Shawarma Plate - 3 - Some of the chicken appeared to be undercooked as it was pink. Steak Shawarma Plate - 3 - I found the meat to be over cooked and over seasoned. I think that had we had simply skipped the meats, we would have been happier overall. Bottom line, would we come here again? Yes, but veggy only. The Lentil Soup, Tumeric Rice, Cous Cous, Hummus, Tzatziki, Tomato Cucumber Mix, Diced Pickles, Pita Chips and Pita Bread are all winners.

Ordered via the app for the first time. But I didn't see the $5 off first order until after so couldn't use the coupon. You can create your own plate or choose from specific bowls. Ordered the vegan bowl and was pleasantly surprised with the food. The plate came with, salad, 2 falafels, pickles, hummus, pita bread, rice/eggplant/garbonzo beans for $14.95. They have a station for utensils, napkins, water and sauces. The service was nice for pickup. They had the order ready before the suggested pickup time. My only complaint is that the red hot sauce is very salty. Plenty of parking Definitely will be back

Chicken Shwafel Salad Bowl and Lentil Soup

You know, there are countless aspects of pre-COVID life that I really miss, but one of the things that I surprisingly miss the most are some of the eateries by my old office. Obviously, I can still go back to the ones that are still around, but it's different making a point of it versus just walking the few blocks over there. What's even more surprising is that of the bunch, one of the places I miss the most is Sajj! Don't get me wrong - I've always been a fan, but I never visited them as often as some of my other regular spots because the line was always so long. However, now that I've discovered this location with nary a wait? It's like getting to relive those experiences but without the hassle! Funny enough, even though I've always been curious about their wraps, pita breads, and salad bowls, I've never ordered anything at Sajj other than their rice bowls. No particular reason why, other than it's the easiest to reheat if I ever have leftovers. However, being at a new location, it felt appropriate to also try try something different. So, in this case, I opted to get a CHICKEN SHWAFEL SALAD BOWL (Chicken Shwarma and Falafel) with pretty much all of the toppings - Mixed Greens, Tzatziki, Hummus, Garlic Spread, Sumac Cauliflower, Tomato Cucumber Mix, Cabbage, Garbanzo Beans, Diced Pickles, Diced Beets, Sumac Onions, Cherry Peppers, and Lemon Olive Oil Dressing. With such a long list of components, it's no wonder how, all together, this ends up being a fairly hefty salad - and that's before even mentioning the three Falafels and the seemingly generous amount of Chicken Shwarma underneath it all. Other than how I should've asked for less of the garlic spread (very garlicky), everything blended together really well. All of the veggies were fresh (other than the pickles because pickles), the Falafels stayed crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and the Chicken Shwarma was quite flavorful. I wish I had asked for some tahini to be drizzled on as well, but it's not like my salad didn't have enough going on already. Regardless of whether you get a wrap, pita bread, salad bowl, or a rice bowl, though, the absolute best part of just about any meal at Sajj is their Lentil Soup. I'm not sure what they put into it, but I wouldn't be shocked if crack was one of the ingredients. Which is kind of crazy, because I don't remember it tasting this good at the Sajj by my old office. Although, maybe I just enjoyed it that much more this time because I knew my entire afternoon wasn't going to be spent sitting in a bunch of meetings that could've been an email instead. All in all, FOUR AND A HALF STARS rounded down for now.

I ordered the vegan plate through Doordash which turned out to be perfectly packed balance of deliciousness and healthy food. The plate includes salad with a sweet and sour vinaigrette, boiled chickpeas, eggplants, rice, hummus, 2 falafels and diced pickles. The pita bread was served whole and cold so would have liked it to be in smaller pieces (as shown in the Doordash pic) and warmed to make it easier to eat. Overall, impressed by the tasty good and quick service.

BIG shawafel bowl, free soup, and tamarind drink!

I was lucky enough to win a gift card to SAJJ years ago when we lived in San Francisco. I loved it then and still do. I haven't been in years since there aren't any locations near us. However, we were looking to get lunch with my mother-in-law before dropping her off at SFO and spotted that there was a SAJJ nearby. Ooo! It was a good excuse to return! We had a great meal here. One of the first things I spotted was that if you download the app, you get $5 off on your first visit. Score! So, I downloaded the app and it was quick and easy. I didn't need to order in the app either which was great. I love the build-it counter style, so I chose a bowl with the steak/lamb shawafel (includes bonus falafel!). I chose a 50/50 blend of rice and salad, and pretty much all of the toppings and sauces! I loved the cauliflower topping in my bowl. Plus, I came away with a big hunk of a bowl, which left me lunch for the following day! I also ordered the Tamarind drink which was good, but too sweet. I wish it was more sour/tangy like I had at Shawarmaji in Oakland. Oh well... I checked in on Yelp and I saw there was a free check-in offer! Wow! I rarely see those these days, so that was pretty exciting! The check-in offer was for free pita chips and dip. I chose the hummus because our son loves hummus. The pita chips were really good; they were obviously so much better than ones you get in a bag at a super market. The entrees also come with a free side of soup! It was super nice to have that as a starter on a chilly day. It was really yummy too. I love soup. All 4 of us really enjoyed our meals here. My mother-in-law really liked her pomegranate chicken bowl. I was excited to leave with leftovers as well which made a great lunch the following day. The staff were kind as well. Overall, SAJJ was as great as I remember...maybe better? The free soup, plus the $5 off on the app, and the Yelp check-in really hit it out of the park for me. I just wish there was a location closer to us, but this location, we'll certainly keep in mind again when we need to go to SFO!

SAJJ Mediterranean Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - SAJJ Mediterranean

Does the SB location have the $8 meal deal with student ID like the San Mateo location?

Hello I work out locally at the gym nearby and I was wondering if this place was under previous ownership? Also what is the cooking style for example Lebanese?

There was a mediterranean restaurant there before, however this is all new and I think all new owners. I know saying the food is Mediterranean is very broad, however I do believe it is a mix of different influences.

Does this location have an area to sit down and eat their meal like the one in San Mateo?

Yes, they have about 10 tables (the ones that seat 4) inside.

Is it halal?

Yes, SAJJ is certified Halal!

Reviewing as part of the Yelp Celebration event!…read more I visited on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was full but I managed to find a spot in the residential area. After checking in, my food was ready in about 10 minutes. The manager/owner came outside to personally hand me the bag which was very kind and thoughtful. Overall experience with the staff was very welcoming and friendly! Portions were super generous and I really appreciate that the salad/pickles were packed separately so they don't get warm from the hot foods. Everything was so flavorful and fresh. This could easily be two meals! Sauces were a nice addition as well. I would highly recommend Sofra if you're in the area (or passing by) and need a warm, hearty meal. Let's start with the service. Our server was incredibly attentive from the moment we walked in. We were handed menus and then asked if we preferred still or sparkling waters - we opted for the latter. Next, he politely made some recommendations to the more popular items on the lunch menu. We went with his suggestions and he did not disappoint! For two people, we shared the following two items: * MEZZE PLATTER - hummus, babaghanouge, falafel, tabbouleh, and pita ($19) * BEET SALAD - roasted heirloom beets, carrots, goat cheese, honey thyme vinaigrette ($18) For our entrees, we had the following: * BEEF SHAWARMA WRAP - lettuce, sumac onion, pickles, tahini sauce, mixed greens ($19) * ROASTED SALMON - pacific salmon, turmeric rice, grilled broccolini ($29) Food was absolutely incredible. Fresh ingredients, simple preparation, Mediterranean fusion, and assembled thoughtfully without compromising nutrition. I am a fan. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with an inviting style for large groups, intimate fireside chats, or bar seating. They even have a pretty neat happy hour menu that I hope to check out one day. All in all, this is a top fav in South City. Looking forward to a future dining experience here!

Entrees did take a little while longer to be served but I don't blame the workers for the crowd. Service was attentive (server, food runners, & bussers). My drink: Post & Beam Cabernet Sauvignon red wine - rich, full bodied, mildly sweet with a smooth, long finish. Complimented my entree very well (lamb shank). No clash in taste going from eating to drinking. Appetizers: Calamari: Not a huge fan of calamari personally but it was okay. Crispy and chewy squid inside as expected. Greek fries: Typical fries. Crispy and garnished with 2 sauces. One has a mild spice. Nothing super special but it was good as a choice of "sides" from the menu that turned into an appetizer. Had some leftover for my entree that paired well with it actually. Zucchini cakes: crispy shell on the outside but a mushy, hashbrown-like inside of a flavorful mix of vegetables. Really enjoyed this one. Would recommend it. Entrees: Mine: Lamb Shank: soft, tender, the meat melts right off the bone. The sauce is amazing. Tasteful down to the garnish. There was one end that was super fatty and slimy and then different side of the same end that was really chewy like bubblegum but other than that, still my favorite dish from everyone else's. Glad I chose this. Fisherman's Pasta : the presentation is immaculate, very proportional ratio of seafood to the pasta. l like the variety but honestly, this dish is bland. Good thing I got the lamb shank! Arnisia Paidakia (Lamb Chops): Didn't eat but the person who ate it said it tastes good but kind of dry. What he enjoyed about it was that the rice was made of wheat & savory as well. Lobster Risotto - wasn't my personal order but I got to try a bite.
