Decided on the Steak Shawafel and pretty much added everything that did not tack on an additional fee - mixed greens, arugula, hummus, sumac cauliflower, sumac onions, tomatoes and onions, pickles, . . . Also, the complimentary lentil soup. My order was ready on time. Went back to my office and the salad bowl was big, heavy, and full! They definitely did not skimp on any of the additions or meat and came with 2 falafel. So filling and satisfying. Stand outs were the sumac cauliflower and falafel. When I say chipotle, I mean going down the line to pick what to add into your bowl or wrap. First time last month, I got a bowl. The bowl was good with all ingredients. My bowl had steak, rice, lentils, cauliflower, greens, onions, Tazhiki (dont mind misspelling), garlic spread, some chipotle-ish sauce, cilantro lime sauce, and chili. I feel the flavors were everywhere. I enjoyed, but could've been better. Second time, I seen a gentlemen enjoying a massive sized wrap and thought to myself, that's what they look like? So I went for it. Next two visits, I got a wrap. Mine today was chicken, rice, lentils, cauliflower, onions, tazhiki, garlic, cilantro lime, chili, and the chipotle-ish sauce. Main thing that differentiates a wrap from a bowl is that all bites pack a punch with all favors as opposed to small portion flavor from a fork. I love all the toppings and options you get at Sajj Mediterranean! Similar to a chipotle style, you get a choice between which meats, wrap/bowls, and lots of tasty toppings. It also comes with a lentil soup which was sooo good! We got the shawafel (falafel and chicken shawarma) with half rice, salad, cabbage, tomato cucumber, beans, spicy tahini, and add feta and falafels. We also got some fries on the side. My wife got a similar bowl but added beats and chili peppers. Both bowls had a lot of food! And everything was amazing! I first tried Sajj when it opened and the service is great!! I love the selection they have and the quality of their ingredients. Portion sizes are quite large and you can chose your own toppings. I would say this is like a Mediterranean style Chipotle where you can select salad, wrap, bowl etc. When I went they gave me a free baklava which my dad loves. This is located in a plaza and there's parking available. There's other shops and restaurants there too. SAJJ will be your go-to for nutritious, healthy food that doesn't taste like boring plants. I opt for the keto salad bowl and it's packed with flavor. I'm not the biggest salad eater but this bowl tastes like comfort food. It's filled to the brim with mixed greens, tomato cucumber mix, cauliflower, avocado, feta cheese, and tahini sauce. I dislike feta cheese and forgot to ask for it to be left out but I ate it anyways and it wasn't too overpowering. They also offer a green chutney sauce as well as a spicy chili sauce. The spicy chili sauce is HOT, so beware if you cannot handle your spice. I can, therefore, it was delicious! Now for cost, it was a tad bit on the pricier side, but you can taste the quality and they give you a large portion. One bowl is probably two meals. With my dietary needs, protein is essential, so I ordered the Double Protein Grain Bowl; it came with chicken shawarma, falafel, steak shawarma, garbanzo beans, hummus, feta cheese, and arugula. It was definitely loaded with protein and worth the pretty penny. This place would be a solid 4 stars for me, but some the steak was a tad bit salty. We can only make a good first impression once. Went for Dinner Food -2/5. Lentil soup had good consistency with a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. The components in the rice bowl shared a common problem of having a mushy texture. The eggplants were bitter from being overcooked, the cold vegetables had absolutely no crunch to them, the chickpeas were grainy, and the rice was just mushy. Falafel was completely dried out as if it was sitting in the steam table for too long and the steak had no sear which led to yet another mushy texture. All the mushy textures were made worse by the lack of any strong flavor in the bowl but the toum and the condiment sauces did help alleviate that problem. Service - 3/5. Friendly but not great at explaining the menu. I had some unanswered questions, but I felt there was a language barrier, so I did appreciate their effort. Value - 2/5. The portions are huge, and there are plenty of additional options included with your meat. I also enjoyed that they had a shawafel option as it allowed first time diners to try as much variety as possible. All of this in the mid 10s price range would generally make for great value but unfortunately the food was more of a chore to eat than enjoyable. The food is a great portion size and always greeted upon arrival when we go inside which we really appreciate. As an added bonus when you order you get a small side of lentil soup, which I love the fact they add that to the meal. They're very quick efficient And it's a very clean place to dine. We usually take it to go, but there is seating in there and very clean. When they first opened, they did have promotions where you had buy one get one 50 percent off but unfortunately I haven't seen any of those lately going out to any of the San bruno residence however still like the place good quality and again good people. I decided to go with the a two-meat bowl with the steak and falafel, half rice/half mixed greens with pretty much everything added on. The meat had a good amount of flavor to it and the falafel had a nice crunch with a moist center. You have the ability to add a couple different sauces such as tzatkiki, tahini, and a garlic sauce. I got all 3 to try them out! Lots of fresh veggies really made me feel good and 'healthy' which is something I don't do often lol For $13 it was a ton of food. I went there with my friend and we both got the steak shawarma and I got mine with falafels and spicy tahini sauce and tzatziki with salad base and all the toppings. Environment: 9/10, it's got pretty cool decorations and a wholesome atmospheres. Service:10/10, the staffs seem super friendly and my friend and I was kinda being loud but they allowed it since there are not many customers at the time. Food:9/10, to be honest I rarely have Mediterranean food so this is all kind of new to me and I'm not disappointed I'm actually really glad that I tried it out, I love the tzatziki sauce a lot it's super refreshing and exactly like how I imagined it would be. I love the falafels too since it's the first time I've had it and I love how cumin-y it tastes like and how the inside is like pea paste. I love the lentil soup too. Then I asked for french fries (this was at 4:30pm) and she said "oh, we just cleaned the fryer, so there isn't any available...at dinner time, on your menu and you don't offer it?)...weird, if you ask me. We ordered: Keto salad bowl $14.25 - chicken shawarma on a bed of mixed greens. Comes with sumac cauliflower, tomato cucumber mix, cabbage, avocado, feta cheese and tahini sauce. Steak shawarma bowl with turmeric rice $12.75. It's nice to be able to customize your own bowl and toppings. Chicken kabob pita $14. My 10 year old who is sensitive to certain spices ate this entire thing so that's a really good sign that the food is good. We also added side of falafel $4.95 for 6 and for dessert: chocolate hummus with cinnamon pita chips $3. Everything was very flavorful and I was satisfied after our meal. 3 sides of lentil soup were also included with our order. I would pass on the dessert next time. The chocolate hummus wasn't too chocolatey and cinnamon chips were kinda bland. This portion was also small. I would definitely come back. It can be difficult to find healthy food options sometimes and I appreciate having a good keto option. Although a few items are priced pretty high, for example the keto bowl -- I'm wondering if I could've gotten the regular shawarma bowl and customized to fit keto lifestyle. You basically pick a base (rice bowl, wrap, salad, or pita) and then pick between the protein options (falafel, shawarma, etc.). Then you get to pick a bunch of sides and mix-ins. I had no idea that was how it was before I got here. There's eggplant, cauliflower, hummus, beets, sauces, and much more that you can add freely to your meal! There's a few protein options. I had the chicken shawarma and it was amazing. I think the less options the better the restaurant gets at making those few taste amazing. I can't wait to try everything else. The quantity and quality of food you get is very good. Sajj is to middle eastern what Chipotle is to mexican. You get to choose from a number of proteins (chicken shawarma, steak, falafel and pomegranate chicken), you can pick rice or greens, a roasted eggplant topper, roasted cauliflower and freekeh. They had hummus, the garlic sauce (oh my god to die for!), tzatziki and veggie toppers - the cucumber/tomato/onion salad, pickled beets, relish etc. etc. What I had was - - Shawafel in a salad bowl with most of the toppings with hummus and the garlic sauce on the side What my husband had - - Falafel Bowl - he really enjoyed it It comes with a side of the hearty lentil soup which had great flavor. Anywho, I love their pomegranate chicken and the hummus always hits the spot, their house salad was a nice touch and just what I needed to add some veggies to my meal. Of course I couldn't not get their tabbuuleh salad, sorry it's not pictured, kinda devoured that as soon as I saw it. This is the perfect option for a vegan or vegetarian in need of a protein kick. It's chock full of lentils and greens. More importantly, the food is as delicious as it is nutritious. The falafels are perfectly crispy and soft inside and the hummus is smooth and flavorful. The condiments add spice and flavor to every element of the dish- the peri peri is especially delicious.
