Just happened to pop in at 3pm on a Wednesday as the other neighboring Asian restaurants were closing and glad we did. Few people were finishing up so we were seated immediately by the friendly staff and the show started: Papadam: crispy and light with the right balance of spices to get the palate going for the rest of feast. Tandoori Sampler: Overall a nice platter for sharing as the chicken was tender, the prawns were succulent but the kebab was on the dry side and slightly bland. Goat Curry: hands down, one of the best prepared curries as you kept going back with as the goat was tender and the curry had the right amount of heat and toasted spices as the cardamom and cloves were prevalent, Veggie Biryani: Generous portion as it overflowed the bowl with plenty of peas & carrots and some charred cauliflower which added a subtle smokiness to the dish. Naan: Garlic & Plain were great pairing with the goat curry, would definitely return for that combo. We had a perfect lunch at Noori today. We had the chicken korma curry and mushroom mutter vegetarian curry, which were both smooth and delicious, and had the right amount of spice. The onion naan bread was fluffy and had great flavor. I recently got their goat, biryani, and it was really really good; although for me being someone that has a fast metabolism/generally pretty hungry appetite he said it would make me full! It didn't, but it was very flavorful; and fairly priced! I didn't have a lot of money on hand at the time, but he navigated what was best for me to get; and what to consider next time! While that portion wasn't that big for me, it may be enough for you; and it is worth every penny! I love this place. They had a new item on their menu - chicken jalfrezi and I had to try it. I ordered chicken curry and chicken jalfrezi. Chicken curry - right amount of spice. Chicken was soft and juicy. Good quantity and perfectly cooked. Chicken jalfrezi - I am a fan of this dish. More than me my 2 year old loved it.  It's a blend of vegetables and chicken. We all had to go to the toilet for hours afterwards. The lamb kabob didn't look filly cooked inside so we had to fry it because we didn't want to get sick, but wound up getting sick anyways. The Naan is way too plain and needs butter or something. Worse than plain white bread! The kheer was also very plain and a total RIP OFF for a sauce cup portion for $4?!? Wouldn't it be great to have a place that you can come to again and again when near the airport? That's what we thought when we chose to dine here. Then this happened on our first visit. We ordered a Tandoori Salmon. Instead, the nice, young server brought us the Tandoori Sampler. Okay, she made a mistake. She heard wrong. "Salmon" and "Sampler" sound a bit alike. After quite a bit of explaining what we actually asked for, she reluctantly removed the plate and returned to the kitchen. Eventually the Salmon Tandoori came. Then came the bill, which my sweetie accidentally paid in full before she realized the error. We were charged for the both the the dish we wanted and the dish we never ordered and didn't want. Then we asked for a refund of the overpayment - and were forced into an argument with the manager, who apparently thinks it's okay to force people to pay for food they never ordered or touched. It got very unpleasant. Finally, after voices were raised and they understood that we weren't going to give up and walk out, we were grudgingly given a $20 refund. The food? Well, we're not fussy eaters, but the salmon was full of bones, and the spinach dish was barely warm. Plus they never asked how spicy we'd like it. Everything was too salty. Folks, we've never had anything like this happen to us at a restaurant before. If you want to take your chances at this place, that's up to you; but I would avoid this place if I were you. This place is HORRIBLE on time and customer service. You order food ahead of time for pick up and they ALWAYS wait until you arrive to start getting the food together to pack even though it's just sitting there already cooked and ready. I always end up having to wait an extra 20-30 minutes past my pick up time which is ridiculous. I went to this place to get some food before I hit to work this evening, I placed my order and I was told it will be ready in 15 mins, I came after 25 mins and found that it wasn't ready, I was standing far to see their food process, when it came to my food the young man packing my food was continuously touching my kebabs when even the food was in a open container but he keep rolling it for no reason, I was wondering why is he doing it, during which he whipped his forehead with his hands, I looked away to ignore it, after couple of seconds he was trying to put some sauce in my food bag when he dropped one on the floor, he picked it up from floor with his bare hands and put it back inside the bag, I tried to stop him but he was looking at me and just did it anyway, I got the bag and went to the counter explaining the situation but the guy at the counter was saying ok let me give you another one, I was trying to explain him that it was not about another sauce !!! Why did he do it in the first place??? Is this the level and standards of hygiene you guys have over here? I threw the sauces away and took the kebabs only, I ate the food 2 hrs ago and it's the third time I am throwing up since then. read more

Currently our favorite Indian/Pakistani place in the area! I didn't grow up eating Indian food until I moved to SF for college and all my friends did. While I don't eat it that often, it has become one of my favorite foreign cuisines. Noori is (I believe) a locally owned place, as they have just two locations; Sunset District, San Francisco & San Bruno. We've eaten in the restaurant a few times, but have more often ordered for pick-up and brought home to eat. The parking can be hit or miss based on the day of the week and time, it is located right on the main strip of San Mateo Ave. Once inside, the place is usually not packed and generally quiet and chill. The servers are all nice, and while they may not be overly outgoing or energetic, they have always been attentive to requests. This place converted my wife from someone who was disgusted by the smell or thought of curry, to someone who craves more often than I do. The dish that initially won her over, was the classic Chicken Tikka Masala. This is always a good dish to ease people into Indian food since it's generally made with cream or yogurt, which takes out some of the bite of the curry/spices. Other dishes we've ordered: -Noori Fries: Seasoned fries w/ a side of Tikka Masala Sauce for dipping. Really good! Better fresh at the place, otherwise put them in the (toaster) oven for a few minutes to crisp them up before eating at home. -Tandoori Chicken: Very tender, juicy and flavorful. Remember it being a little spicy which we liked. Definitely recommend! -Beef Vindaloo: The beef was also very tender. I don't like a lot of fat in my meat so can be wary about what I order, but this was really good. The meat mostly fell apart in my mouth and was little to no fat, perfect! The Vindaloo sauce is not overly watery, and very tasty! -Beef Tikka Masala: After we determined the beef was tender and delicious, we decided to combine that with out favorite sauce...did not disappoint! -Lamb Tikka Jalfrazi: The lamb was also very tender. Not overly chewy or gamey, which can easily happen. The sauce was good, very flavorful. This one was more similar to the Tikka Masala. -Mutter Paneer: Chunks of homemade cheese in a caramelized onion sauce.. solid! -Basmati Rice (plain): Solid portion, always cooked well. Perfect for soaking up all the sauces! Naan (Plain, Onion, Garlic, Chili Garlic & Aloo): All naans we've had have been delicious. They are a good size and always taste fresh. We haven't been since the Stay Home order went into place (nothing personal, we haven't eaten out at all). However, we are planning to place an order for pick-up soon to help support this awesome place! The only picture I can currently find is the "After" shot from the time I took my wife here for her first full Indian/Pakistani meal. I will upload more food photos next time(s) we eat there! Not sure if he still works there, but one of my first positive experiences was ordering take-out from Moon (sp?). I always order an extra side of the Tikka Masala sauce for dipping and general eating, and they've always been very generous in accommodating!
