A Blimpie with a 4.8 on Yelp and 4.5 on Google Maps... seriously? You know this Yelper had to…read moreinvestigate. For context, I'm a Subway loyalist. I used to eat it daily back when a full meal was $4.99, and I've even had Subway in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. So yes, I have a calibrated palate for mass‑market sandwiches. They've got a handful of subs on special, but for a couple bucks more I went with my usual Italian--here called the "Italiano"--on Cheddar Jalapeño bread. And of course I did the footlong because size does matter. I asked for it toasted, only to discover they use a panini press, which flattens the bread like a stress test. Not my favorite. Ironically, I used to love Blimpie's oven‑style toast before Subway even offered it. They do have a separate oven for melting cheese, and that part I absolutely recommend. The sandwich itself was very good and definitely in Subway territory. For $1.29 you can grab a self‑serve cookie--critical, because I can select the front‑row cookie with the maximum chip‑to‑dough ratio. Fresh daily, solid flavor, very Subway‑adjacent. But I still prefer Subway's footlong cookie. It's a personality trait at this point. Staff was extremely friendly. I'm pretty sure the owner was working the counter, unless a gentleman of his seniority just enjoys staying busy or needs the cash, which is increasingly common these days. Honestly, that personal touch is probably what gives this place an edge over Subway. Pepsi products here. Acceptable, but I'm a Coke person. Blimpie is becoming an endangered species, even though it predates Subway by a year. But overall, I still think Subway has the stronger product.

Somehow, someway, it seems to never work out for me. But it finally happened and I'm mad at myself that it took so long. Probably 2+ years ago a friend and I were at a local sub shop in Sugar Land, and he mentioned how Blimpie was always his favorite. I couldn't even remember if I'd ever been to a Blimpie, but I saw that there happened to be one, so I bookmarked it on that day, and it haunted me ever since. Blimpie cares not about decor or vibes, but they do make an absolutely incredible sandwich. The menu is unique, in that each sandwich is basically just one ingredient different than the sandwich above it. I opted for the Blimpie Best Deluxe on parmesan bre The bread was pillowy soft. The flavor of the sandwich was absolute perfection. It somehow got better each bite. I could not believe how much I liked it and how sad I was when it was over. It will probably torment me indefinitely that I didn't order the larger sandwich. I will prevail. And I will visit again. My question though, is very simply: why did Blimpie almost completely go away? It's light years better than Subway.

My wife and I stopped in for a bite to eat after a service in the Woodlands on Sunday morning. After perusing their menu which was quite extensive, we decided to split a Klassic Ruben with Sauerkraut and Corned Beef on Rye. Wow! We were so delighted with our meal! This Ruben was just dripping with deliciousness. Just as good as we would have gotten in Palm Springs, Hollywood or New York. And the fries were nothing to sneeze at either. Hot, fresh and crispy. Just how I like them. Coupled with our Long Island Express and Beringer Red Sangria, we were two very happy dinners. The service at Katz's was just as good as the food. Brian was prompt and extremely professional. We did return a week later and both enjoyed a meal a half pastrami and corned beef and my wife a Philly Cheesesteak both with Tomato Basil soup. Again, another outstanding meal. There were so many delicious items to choose from on their menu we can't wait to return to try their breakfast selection, their dinner/main features and some of their fabulous looking deserts. Katz Deli looks to us to be a Jewish style deli with a touch of Texas/Southern/Cajun flavor. Katz is a small chain in the Houston area and I tend to avoid chain restaurants, but Katz Deli got it right and we are eagerly awaiting our next visit.

We ordered the banana pancakes (about 3 for $9, which is a great deal), corned beef hash and eggs with a bagel and cream cheese -- some of the best I've had at a breakfast spot, and a brisket bowl (not pictured). Everything came out quickly and hit the spot for a late-night meal. Late-night bites for Easter are a tradition for us, and Katz's ended up being such a great surprise. Definitely a place I'd come back to more often.

Earlier no iceberg- just marvelous greens of all exciting types. Not so now!! Much of the salad had lots of chunks o white iceberg!! And vinegary dressing. Oh, no!! The good news is that our favorite main courses are still like out of ny Greek grannies' kitchens - the fabulous moussaka and the souvlaki Were as delectable and amazing as always!! And those tender tasty lemon potatoes were just as we always loved them!!l We were delighted , but now in search of the best Greek salad in town- The breezy outdoor patio is so roomy and comfortable and there are many large fans up above to keep diners cool and comfy on a hot day!! Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the desserts. I recently bought the assorted cookie box along with several assorted cake desserts to take home and try. I spent close to $70 on the desserts, so I was really hoping they would be worth it. Unfortunately, we were extremely underwhelmed. The dessert I was most excited to try was the marzipan cookie because I've had a really good one at another Greek restaurant. This one is called a Kourambiedes (almond cookie), and unfortunately it was very disappointing. The texture was actually great, but the flavor was extremely off. It almost tasted like plastic. I'm not sure if the wrong ingredient was used or if there was too much baking soda or baking powder, but something definitely seemed off with it. I was also really excited to try the pistachio cake, but unfortunately it had very little pistachio flavor at all, which was a letdown. The baklava were dry, and the rest of the cookies in the box were also very dry and didn't stand out, especially considering how much we spent. I really do enjoy Niko Niko and their food, but based on this experience, I probably wouldn't spend that much on their desserts again.

I've probably considered going approximately 137 times, but just like Chick Fila, I'd say 90% I am craving it on a Sunday, when they are not open. But finally, the stars aligned, and after running some errands at the mall, we stopped in here. Again, why did I wait so long. 1. The cost: hilariously low. 2. The wait time: virtually none. 3. The quality: excellent. It's incredibly rare to get two of those in one place, let alone all three. But we truly loved every single thing we tried. I ordered a double cheeseburger and potato salad. Both awesome. My wife ordered the ham and cheese sandwich. Despite loving the first couple bites of my burger, when I tried hers, I couldn't figure out which one I enjoyed more. Even our son's chicken tenders and fries were both excellent. Going in here is like going back in time - in terms of what it looks like, and the total on your bill. I have no idea how they manage to pull this off when food costs are so out of control, but please don't make the same mistake I did. Come here. Now.

Absolutely Fantastic!…read more I'm visiting the Conroe, Texas area from Seattle and had heard so much about Chicken Salad Chick on social media, so I knew I had to give it a try. It absolutely lived up to the hype! Since I had never been before, I told the wonderful lady helping me that I wasn't familiar with the menu. She took the time to explain everything, helped me figure out exactly what to order, and she did an amazing job with her recommendations. Everything I tried was fresh, delicious, and so good! The food was fantastic, but the friendly, helpful service made the experience even better. I can definitely see why everyone talks about this place. I'll absolutely be back whenever I'm in the area. Five stars!

I finally had a chance to try Chicken Salad Chick after seeing it all over social media and TikTok,…read moreand I was honestly really excited to finally try it for myself. Unfortunately, I left pretty underwhelmed. First of all, the side portions are TINY. Like, seriously tiny. I got the two scoop meal with the Kicking Kay Lynne and the pimento cheese scoop. I don't know why looking at the menu I thought that the pimento cheese was a pimento cheese chicken salad, but it turned out to just be a very sticky blob of pimento cheese. That was definitely my misunderstanding, but it was still disappointing because I was expecting something completely different. The Kicking Kay Lynne chicken salad was good. I enjoyed it, but honestly, it wasn't anything mind blowing. After seeing so many people rave about it on TikTok, I expected something that was going to make me understand all the hype immediately. I also tried the grape salad because everyone online seems to act like it's life changing. Maybe my expectations were just way too high, but I really didn't see what all the excitement was about. The grapes weren't nearly as crisp as everyone makes them sound, and overall it just didn't impress me. The broccoli salad was good, but here's the funny part: it tastes almost exactly like the broccoli bacon salad I buy at Costco. So again, good, but definitely not something I would consider special. Overall, nothing I tried was bad. I just think TikTok had me expecting a much more exciting experience than what I actually got. The food was decent, but for me, it didn't live up to the hype at all. Maybe I'll try a few other chicken salad flavors another time, but based on this first visit, I'm not rushing back.
