Not a pleasant dining experience. The food was poor. The service was undertrained and seemed to lack guidance. The outdoor ambiance was nice but the smokers by the entrance filled the dining area with smoke everyone the door opened. The food: no taste. There is a clear expectation that patrons will cover the food in yumyum sauce. The meat was tough and overcooked. The service: our hostess seeing that we were not being served started our service. It was 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. I witnessed lots of servers moving around unhappy and not invested in the patrons' satisfaction. All this is easily overlooked if the food is good. But the food was not good. And the prices reflect well prepared meals which is reasonable if it is a well prepared meal. I'll say again. These were not well prepared meals. There are much better options nearby. Avoid this one. read more

All kidding aside this restaurant is in an old church which makes a great setting. We had the kalbi, a sushi eel roll, and teriyaki chicken, all delicious. The best was the gyoza! My family and I came in for dinner (7 people) 3 of whom wanted to order all you can eat sushi and the other 4 of us were going to order hibachi. The four of us who wanted to order hibachi don't eat fish yet they refused to let the 3 order all you can eat sushi due to not everyone at the table ordering all you can eat. Are you kidding me... They charged me almost a $5 convenience fee when I called in, drove here to the restaurant myself, and picked up the order myself. This fee was not mentioned on the website NOR was it mentioned over the phone by the gentleman who took my order. This just left a really bad taste in my mouth and I haven't even opened my food yet. Just felt so greedy and wrong. Usually not one to throw a fit over this but at least let your customers know before you charge their card! It's just not ethical! We went to Sake for lunch this week. It is right down the street from Sacred Heart on N 9th Avenue. The owners converted a church into a restaurant, and they did a great job. The atmosphere inside was nice. For starters, we selected the Egg Rolls. They came out in a short time, and they were very tasty! I ordered the Lunch Combo Special of 2 Rolls: a Volcano Roll and a Crunchy Crab Roll. I also ordered White Tuna Nigiri. The Chef did a great job with the presentation. The rolls and nigiri looked absolutely delicious. A work of art!!! The Nigiri was fresh as expected and the rolls were soooo tasty. Great job Sake!!!! After living in Tokyo for three years, I've lived in many States and searched high and low for something, anything, that would be remotely close to the amazing local fare that is found there... and lemme tell you. I ordered the Takoyaki as an appetizer and the Vegetable Yakiudon as my entree, which came with a side salad and vegetable tempura. NOMMM. * Vegetable Tempura (battered and fried broccoli, sweet potato, zucchini, and onion) accompanied by a sweet dipping sauce. This was way tasty. * Takoyaki (savory ball-shaped cakes made from wheat batter, small pieces of tender octopus, and other ingredients, like green onions and ginger - cooked on a specially designed griddle and drizzled with a savory takoyaki sauce and spicy mayo) The takoyaki was seasoned just right with the perfect blend of batter and octopus. I decided to go to Sake Cafe for dinner when I arrived in Pensacola. I sat at the sushi bar area and had a glass of the merlot and the snow ball sushi. The sushi ball was probably the best I ever had, like ever! It was a ball of crab salad, wrapped with cooked salmon, spicy mayo, eel sauce, green onions, sesame seeds and a yummy out of this world sauce on top. Every bite was full of flavors in your mouth. This dish didn't come with sushi rice so I ordered a side of rice to go with it. They also have happy hour specials from 3-6pm that has appetizers, alcoholic drinks, and simple rolls for decent prices. I will come back just for this dish alone. Until we meet again.. So was in this part of town and heard they have a good Happy Hour. Pricing was ok, not cheap, but some tasty items to try...the Crab Nachos were great and the Takoyaki was really good. But also ordered some standard rolls. One of the rolls (Spicy TUNA) was a bit on the ripe side....so I passed on it. When the Waitress came I let her know. She said sorry and asked if I wanted another but I would be charged if I took it with me. I said no...and then she asked me if I wanted.to keep it on the bill? I was very disappointed with this place for the amount we spent on the food . It was not worth it. The hibachi was not worth the price . I am also very disappointed with one of the associates who I assume was the manager. I was sitting not far from a table where this woman was talking to I assume another employee. (Who was with his family)She was very loud and disrespectful to the young man. I overheard the young man was having trouble with his car. The woman proceeded to get very loud at the young man and told him that they were short staffed and that he could not take time off to fix his car. She was very disrespectful to the young man . This used to be a place I enjoyed coming for happy hour sushi when I came back into town. Came in with a family member during happy hour and it isn't so packed especially with the newer location. We were seat right away. As for sushi, it was more rice than actual fish or fillings in the rolls. Though everything was good until getting our check. We saw there were an extra charge which we did asked about. They stated that if we didn't finish our food we would be charged extra. I have never experienced that here prior with all my visits. And I have NEVER been to a place that charged you for not finishing food you paid for that wasn't an AYCE type place. read more

I had the sushi (crunchy snow crab roll and special shrimp tempura roll). I liked the special shrimp tempura roll more, but both were pretty basic and standard to me.
