    Garden Salad
    Joya S.

This is a nicely decorated place with tables where you can sit basically on the floor Japanese style. The garden salad has this great ginger dressing. I got the eel cucumber roll which was great. However the other roll my mom got did was not so good. It was a cooked roll and it seemed similar to canned tuna. I'm sure this is not the restaurants fault since I've been here many times and everything else I had was good. I would not recommend getting a cooked roll that is meant to be eaten raw. Service was good. This is one of my go to places to get sushi in the area.

Asparagus roll, crunchy spicy salmon roll, Jade roll.

I've been craving sushi for some time. You know that feeling of finally getting what you want and it not measuring up? Well you won't get that feeling from Sake Hana!! Wow what a delightful meal! My boyfriend got beef fried rice & a pork spring roll. I got the sushi and calamari. I'm the sushi fan; he is not. I got a variety of rolls for him to try, but sadly, he said it wasn't for him. That only meant one thing: more for me. I did try some of his fried rice... holy Moses I think that's the best fried rice I've ever had. It's got this grilled/smoky flavor to it and it's just so good!! The sushi was so so so good; better than I expected. We have enough left over to enjoy again. The Black Horse roll was superb. I thoroughly enjoyed the zap of pepper and the sharp heat of the jalapeño, too. We'll have to come back once the pandemic is taken care of!! Thank you for your great food, Sake Hana!!

General Tso's tofu- Yes but not the best I've had. I prefer smaller crispier pieces

I was disappointed by the way the manager handled the fact the we found a very large piece of glass in my husband's drink.

The first time I went there was in 2009 on the recommendation of a friend who used to have a Japanese restaurant. With job changes, going back to school, and plunging headfirst into a turbulent new career with multiple job changes, I never got back there until 2022. And guess what? They remembered me! The staff is genuinely friendly. They remember what I like, and a few times I've described dishes that weren't on the menu--and they made them perfectly. They actually listen, and that level of care is rare. The wine and beer selection fits my tastes really well, which is a nice bonus. Every time I visit, the atmosphere is happy and relaxed. I often see other customers come in and get greeted like old friends, and it's clear this place means something to a lot of people. It's not just a meal--it's a place that lifts your mood. Okura has become one of my favorite spots. Friendly people, great food, and a warm, welcoming vibe every time.

With me being Asian and my family being familiar with Asian cuisine we looked forward to trying this new restaurant. We usually do a quick scan of the clientele to see if Asians are actually dining in the Asian restaurant. Didn't see many. I may have been the only Asian in our section. Staff consisted of mix of Asians and non-Asians. Before the food came out our waiter brought over a little black plate with 4 white towelettes rolled up like little marshmallows. My youngest thought it was a marshmallow and tried to eat it. We stopped him! Coincidentally, the booth behind us had a large party of adults and one of the adults did the same. Makes for a good laugh but down the road this could be a huge liability. Osaka restaurant should change up the presentation before a customer chokes on the little towelette. We started out with scallion pancakes, egg rolls, wonton soup, and hot & sour soup. Scallion pancakes were hot, crispy, and tasty. Egg rolls were blah. No flavor and all cabbage. No protein mixed in. Wonton soup is as basic as you can get. It was delicious! However, Hot and sour soup was a huge disappointment. It was dark colored water with a slight soy sauce and black pepper flavor. Where was the sour? Where was the heat? No black mushrooms. This had to be an off night for this restaurant. Taste test the batch before serving. The entrées. My son ordered sweet & sour chicken. Without requesting separate sauce, Osaka served the sauce on the side. Perfect for my son. He likes to dip the chicken into the sauce and eat with white rice. Since the chicken was served plain we all tried a piece to taste test the quality. Actually not bad. My son finished his whole dinner. Portion was huge too. My other son ordered Mala chicken. Delicious mix of chicken and vegetables with spicy heat. Huge portion. Definitely a favorite. My husband ordered Orange Chicken. Chicken was crispy on the outside, tender inside and sauce was sweet with orange flavor. Mild spice. He devoured almost all of it. Again another huge portion. I ordered the Teriyaki beef. It came with a side of steamed broccoli and rice. I chose brown rice. This beef was so tender and tasty. Melt in your mouth kind of tender. Teriyaki flavor could have been a little more intense but not bad at all. I would definitely order this again. Huge portion served. I ended up taking half of this home. It made for a pretty good lunch the next day. We finished off our meal with a shared dessert; Fried banana with vanilla ice cream. Order this dessert!! Don't live with regret missing out on this happy ending. My overall take on this place... try it out. It's Asian food in the suburbs. Not quite Chinatown or upper mainline but it's pretty good for Asian food in Downingtown. Huge portions. Some things are hit or miss but my guess is it's just starting out. Osaka is definitely worth checking out and coming back for your favorite dishes. (The other restaurants owned with Osaka are pretty good too.)

All around great tasting. Not drowning in sauce, just a perfect blend of tastes. The California roll is one of my standards of comparison for sushi places. Their California roll was legit. A great foundational sushi roll and at a great price. The Spicy Tuna is another standard of comparison for me. Again, great taste, great price. In general, I am not a fan of warm cream cheese in my sushi rolls. So, the volcano was not my thing. My wife really liked it though, and that means a lot because she is picky about sushi. The Hairy Mexican roll would have been good except for the sauce on top. They listed it as Sriracha sauce, however, the taste is more like enchilada sauce. I didn't like that at all. The rest of the roll was great, including the jalapeno on top. This will be our new local go-to for sushi going forward.

It's a bit of a conundrum to find the entrance; it's on the back side, up a flight of stairs. The dining room brims with families, couples, groups of friends, seniors--all walks of life. One table away from me, sat a father and young son heartily munching on their dinners. I decided to ask them about the menu. The father told me that they come here once a month because his son is a picky eater, but loves GuGu's cooking, so consumes everything on his plate; and the dad thinks the place is the bomb. Started with the gyoza appetizer and enjoyed it very much. My seaweed salad was fresh and generous although the dressing was not to my liking, however able to change it up with some soy sauce and wasabi. A red curry duck main that I went with was luscious, meaty and satisfying. All dishes were nicely presented. Service is professional. I appreciate the linen-like, deposable napkins that are a part of the place setting--nicely absorbent. I agree with others that it takes time for food to arrive, but worth the wait.

I really enjoyed the twist on the typical walnut shrimp dish. I liked the fried shrimp in the bang bang dish best. My only gripe about that dish was that there was not enough sauce. The shrimp in the Thai basil dish was small and I would not get that again. The miso soup was on the salty side for us but it is a generous portion. The shrimp tempura roll was good and comes with 5 larger pieces. Overall, I enjoyed the food here and think that they do a really nice job with take-out.
