I've driven by this restaurant many times and observed the parking lot was packed in the evening; because of this, I decided to try it. It's a bit of a conundrum to find the entrance; it's on the back side, up a flight of stairs. The dining room brims with families, couples, groups of friends, seniors--all walks of life. One table away from me, sat a father and young son heartily munching on their dinners. I decided to ask them about the menu. The father told me that they come here once a month because his son is a picky eater, but loves GuGu's cooking, so consumes everything on his plate; and the dad thinks the place is the bomb. Started with the gyoza appetizer and enjoyed it very much. My seaweed salad was fresh and generous although the dressing was not to my liking, however able to change it up with some soy sauce and wasabi. A red curry duck main that I went with was luscious, meaty and satisfying. All dishes were nicely presented. Service is professional. I appreciate the linen-like, deposable napkins that are a part of the place setting--nicely absorbent. I agree with others that it takes time for food to arrive, but worth the wait. read more

We got takeout for lunch from here and really enjoyed the food. We got the bang bang shrimp bento, Mongolian crispy beef bento, Thai basil shrimp bento, and the yuzo walnut shrimp bento. Each bento comes with rice, edamame, two steamed dumplings, miso soup, and a California roll. You can upgrade the roll for $2 so we got the shrimp tempura roll. They thoughtfully packed the sauce separately so that our shrimp and beef would not get soggy. The sauce for the yuzu shrimp was delicious. I really enjoyed the twist on the typical walnut shrimp dish. I liked the fried shrimp in the bang bang dish best. My only gripe about that dish was that there was not enough sauce. The shrimp in the Thai basil dish was small and I would not get that again. The miso soup was on the salty side for us but it is a generous portion. The shrimp tempura roll was good and comes with 5 larger pieces. Overall, I enjoyed the food here and think that they do a really nice job with take-out. A random place that we stopped by because it's near Longwood garden so we didn't have much expectation. Food turned out pretty great. The duck has a great sauce (sweet and a bit sour) and portion is big. I don't like the beef too much because its texture is more like jerky imo but sauce is not bad. Sushi is pretty good and the shrimp is not normal shrimp tempura but is wrapped in very thin dough/potato, making it extra crunchy. The only bad thing is we waited 30m+ for the food to come out; we had no idea why because the place didn't seem to be very crowded, and even then we only ordered 1 roll (and people mainly come here for rolls and sushi it seems). We are usually never around this area but came because of Tough Mudder. We came for a late lunch on a Saturday around 3pm and the place was able to easily accommodate a large group of 8 people. I was not sure what to expect because they have wide variety of items on their menu - Chinese , Thai, and also Japanese cuisine. I get worried when a place doesn't specialize in a cuisine but I was surprised by how delicious the food turned out to be. I would recommend going with their sushi and Japanese options as I think that's more of their focus. The sushi roll I got were really good and the portions sizes are large for a fair price. My friend was not impressed with his pad Thai noodles - it was mostly just noodles and very carb heavy. The ambiance is cozy, the place makes you feel like you're in a forest, eating inside a cabin. They also have this Robot that roams around, delivering food and saying hi. This is my favorite sushi place I've had in Pennsylvanian! Overall great dinner experience but service was not great. We called ahead to make a reservation. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time but were still seated right away. It was easily to park in the restaurant parking lot. Service throughout the whole night was slow and our waitress did not check on us much. We had to wait a long time to order and throughout the night it took a long time for her to check on us, refill drinks, and get the check. What a great place!!! Very casual, staff is super nice, food was fantastic. Its a BYOB place so dont forget your wine. The will open it for you. They have those cool ro ot that brings your meals. Food was good but the service was horrible. The waitress couldn't care less about us. We went as a family of 5 for lunch. The restaurant was almost empty so it wasn't like she was busy or anything. She rolled her eyes at everything we ordered and did not come even once to refill water etc after the food arrived. We then found out that there is an automatic 20% tip for a table of 5 or more. She was getting her tip anyway, so she couldn't care less about serving us. Not going back because we don't want to experience the same as we are always going to be a family of 5. It was a terrible experience. I had been looking for my waiter but couldn't find him. Finally, he came over, still chewing something in his mouth, asking if we wanted more water.
