Pork Gyoza
Jared T.

For starters; fantastic Pork Gyoza. Hands down must try. The food came out quickly, the waiter was very friendly & always had a smile. The Sushi itself came out in about 15 minutes, with amazing presentation & tasted as good as it looks! The Volcano is a must try, not many places do the Volcano properly anymore but they stuck too the traditional style. The dancing eel was OK but I'm just not a huge fan of cooked rolls I suppose. the Hilton Head was fresh to the crunch & had so many flavors. I normally get some yum yum sauce to compliment my sushi but I did not even wanna taint my food with it this time! I don't know why these negative reviews are weighing down such a place, don't let them deter you from trying it like it almost did me, this place is definitely a gem in its own right!

Philadelphia Roll take out

Order some takeout from here, and it was decent. Very basic. Loved in Japan for 5 years and I've had some similar to this. Overall a solid 3. Would be a last stop for sushi around here.

This was $22 worth of nasty!
Toya L.

For $22 this is pathetic! I have ate in person and it was a lot better but this is not acceptable! I called them and they said they weighed the food before cooking it to make sure it was the correct ounces. This isn't even grilled hibachi. The chicken, zucchini and shrimp is not what I expected or wanted. I've had hibachi from here to California and this was the worse I've ever had.

The volcano roll on the left and the marine boy roll on the right

The staff was very nice and we were quick to be seated ! The actual interior was nice and cozy and the food was very yummy. I got the marine boy roll and the volcano roll and the pork gyoza as an appetizer. Overall it's was a nice experience

After living in Japan for two years, I did not enjoy this place whatsoever. Miso Soup tasted like sink water. Shrimp tampura didn't taste like shrimp. The most delicious thing here was the cold water. Never coming back.

If your goal for the night is to get drunk and eat "sushi" that isn't great, yet won't kill you, then this is the place for you.

Went for a family hibachi experience and it was very good. Entertaining chef and tasty food. I'd go back.

Having a waitperson who doesn't understand English makes for a frustrating meal, which was also unsatisfactory. I'll never go back .

Used to come here frequently. Lately the quality of the sushi has declined and the service is abysmal.

Hi Everyone, Ya,…read moreknow, maybe you don't feel like bagging your lunch today, or making diner tonight, but you've got to eat! What ever will you do? What type of food do you want to eat, now or later? Questions, questions, those nagging questions. Well we here, in the peanut gallery, may have a solution for you today. If you enjoy eating Sushi (Japanese cuisine, in which raw or cooked fish can be inserted into or be placed a top a rice roll with other ingredients). Now I thought that Sushi was ONLY raw fish (which I know you knew, but I didn't, lol), and Sushmi which I thought was actually only cooked fish inserted in, or a top a rice roll, with other ingredients, such as seaweed, cream cheese, imitation crab (I.e. pressed white fish) etc... But, bust my buttons, Sushmi is actually Hindu female name, not a name for Asian cusine, which means welcoming or pleasant, (which I know you knew, but I didn't, lol), but I digress, along with some other Chinese classics then we can highly recommend you visit AKOMEYA right here in Bluffton, SC. Why? Because my friends, their food entrees are actually very savory and delicious treats. Their ambiance is inviting, neat, and clean. Their Servers are friendly, personable, and helpful. Their prices are affordable, that's right, as in, most of us can actually afford to pay for them. For instance, they offer four lunch (ONLY) Chinese meals that are relatively healthy as prepared with a delicate balanced of ingredients that are tastebuds delight. And yes, Jethro, them there "viddles" will fill your belly and keep you a comin back for more helpins! But for how much? $10.00 per entree. Now that them their is an affordable price for lunch, even for Jethro da Bodeen. Their diner menu offers many delightful and tasty tantalizing entrees as well which we have also have enjoyed multiple times. So if you have a hankerin for some good viddles like our man Jethro, it's time to get on down to AKOMEYA and git sum. BTW, Akomeya is also a specialty rice shop with locations at many major train stations in Tokyo. Although rice is their main focus, they also offer an impressive selection of kitchen goods, condiments, and snacks--making it a must-visit for cooking enthusiasts or anyone in search of thoughtful, Japan-made gifts (which I know you knew, but I didn't ). Enjoy!

We walked in and the was ONE table of five in the whole place. Should have been our first sign…read more The service was the WORST I've ever had! The server asked once if we needed drinks. Never asked again. Then I asked for a glass of water and she didn't say a word. Just turned around and got it. Brought it back and just sat it down and walked away. We ordered two sushi rolls and she didn't bring utensils to eat it with. I had to find them for us. Then my wife wanted a little bowl for soy sauce. I had to go find it because our server was no where to be found. She had an attitude about anything we asked for. I'm not joking when I say it was the worst service I've ever had. Needless to say the tip wasn't what it should have been or could have been. Now the food? Awesome! I had the hot sand sour soup (one of the best I've ever had), we had two different sushi rolls. One was the Akomeyea roll and the other was some tuna roll I didn't eat. The chicken low mien was very good and plenty of it. I gave it 3 stars because the food was very good. If we ever decide to get dinner here again it would definitely be to go. No way would I eat in the restaurant again with service like that and as empty as the place was. I get why it was like that if all the service is like that.
