Four of us met for dinner at this restaurant near Target across from Triangle Town Center. We pretty much had the place to ourselves early on a Monday night. Friendly Gal took good care of us. The menu has a nice variety and prices are super reasonable. The two Vegans loved their selections. The curry veggie Udon dish came out first and looked amazing. She loved it. The rest of us got Teriyaki. They offer it in a bowl or plate. We asked what the difference was and she said it was the same thing, just either served in a bowl or on a plate LOL. Okay, we like choices. Veggie Teriyaki bowl for one guy and Beef Teriyaki plate for the other. Chicken plate for me. Our Teriyakis came with a choice of salad or soup. We all got the salad with ginger dressing. Very fresh greens with a mayo-based spicy ginger dressing. Very good! The teriyaki dishes were not super sweet like teriyaki can be, which was nice as it didn't feel like eating pure sugar. I wasn't a fan of the two dumplings that came with mine, as they tasted greasy. I had a lot leftover, but the other three had no problems polishing theirs off. Do note that the chicken was dark meat, which I prefer anyway, but I know a lot of folks prefer white meat. If I were to go back, I would definitely try a noodle dish after seeing that beautiful udon dish. read more

I regret being swayed by the good reviews. I was in the area and wanted sushi, so I dropped in for a quick bite. I ordered two specials. Instead of proper rolls, I got a mound of rice covered in various sauces with a tiny amount of fish. All of this was generously "enhanced" with crab sticks--both inside and on top. It was terrible. To be fair, they only charged me for one, which I appreciate. Still, that didn't do anything to improve my impression of the visit. read more

Our local sushi spot. Delicious sushi and great service. Smaller so I would encourage to call ahead and pick up or just be prepared for a little bit of a wait. They typically have a BOGO or special deal on rolls throughout the week. For three rolls and two entrees we paid ~$50. So reasonably priced all things considered. read more

The service was very, very, very good. The rolls just weren't. Everything just kind of hit bland. Sushi was sort of loose and mushy. Sauces were too heavy. We tried this spot for the first time --takeout only during COVID-19. The quality of the fish is definitely much better than most sushi spots and their ginger are freshly hand cut (not bought from pre-packages). The presentation, packaging and staff were all very nice. I went here before a hair appointment and I was out within less than thirty minutes. The service was impeccable and my waitress was efficient. She went over the specials and gave me time when I wasn't sure what I wanted. My water was always filled. There are a few half price sushi specials, which is nice. I wish some of the Korean dishes had descriptions about what was in them or pictures because I had no idea what they were--I may have tried one of them if there were more with descriptions. I chose the sushi lunch special, which came with two rolls and either miso soup or salad. I chose the miso soup and it was great. I chose the shrimp tempura crunch roll and the sushi roll (chef's choice) for my sushi choices. The sushi roll that was the chef's choice I felt was more appropriate for sashimi, but it was good. A little bland. The shrimp tempura crunch roll, however, was probably the best shrimp tempura roll I've ever had. It wasn't heavy like some other shrimp tempura rolls have been at other restaurants and I would be interested in trying more of the specialty rolls. Four out of five instead of five because of the lack of descriptions on part of the menu. Good price for lunch sushi, though! read more

probably worst sushi i've had in raleigh. i got two of the weekly specials, and of of them was deep fried which wasn't listed on the menu. they cut the pieces in half and only 3-4 pieces had any fish in them. everything was very rice heavy and warm. seems like they used lots of eel sauce and spicy mayo to mask the taste of the warm tuna. the other roll with the salmon,tuna, and crab was decent, but just way too much rice. took over 20 min to get food when only 4 other tables were occupied. read more

Came here with my 5 yr old after karate lesson. The place was very clean and quiet on a wed night. We ordered edamame appetizer then two sushi rolls (shrimp tempura roll with avocado) - my son loved it and had to order two for him. I had seafood pancake - a little on the soft side and not as crunchy. But the flavor was good and portion was just right. We will definitely come again. Lots of different assortments of asian fare. I got the lunch special bbq short ribs and it came with rice, miso, salad, a spring roll, AND tempura!! I like the short ribs the most out of all the lunch special meats- it's the most tender. Tempura also happened to be relatively crispy in a to go box. Make sure to order ahead as the food takes around half and hour but is prepared fresh. Also the soondubu is very worth as well- you can get a seafood and meat mix for around 10. Ive visited this restaurant a few times and for the most part, they were pretty good. My reason for the two stars is that: 1) they take too long to make the food. There may be two tables with guests and you will not get your food for about 30-45 minutes. 2) Their hours of operation are not accurate. I visited the restaurant around 7:30 pm and was told that they were no longer seating guests as the cook was leaving soon. This place is open whenever it's convenient for the owner, not the customer or hours indicated on their front door. I thought this restaurant was going to be my favorite tempura spot but it's not by a long shot. read more

The sushi here is decent (kind of expensive since it's not BOGO), but the korean food is where it's at. I got the seafood soondubu, a flavorful spicy soup with soft tofu. It's on par with my favorite place's in Greensboro. The seafood was mostly shrimp, with a few pieces of squid and mussels. I don't like shrimp, so I wish there was more of the other stuff, but overall I was happy with it. The serving size is generous, I have enough leftover for another meal. This is a great little family restaurant that I found by word of mouth. Went there with my mother today and all the food was excellent. The ginger dressing on the salad was probably the best ginger dressing I've ever had. The fried dumplings appetizer and the teriyaki shrimp were delicious. I haven't tried their sushi yet, but if their hot food is any indication it will probably be excellent. We will definitely be coming back here in the future. read more

To start, my husband has been begging me to start trying sushi places around Raleigh. We had one that we really loved where we used to live, and I had given up on finding anything like that around Raleigh. I thought they were all super upscale and expensive, and I'm not someone who loves to dress up every time I want sushi. We were looking for somewhere casual, close by, okay to decent service, with really delicious sushi and reasonable prices. Carolina Sushi & Roll checked every box on my list today. We went in around an hour before they closed lunch service (so around 1:30pm). There were a few tables inside, but parking was remarkably easy (and there's a sign on the door saying that there's plenty of parking around the back of the building, which is nice in case we go during a busy time). We were greeted and taken to a table right away by our server, who was so incredibly nice! I'm so sorry I didn't catch her name, but she was the best. They have an amazing selection of sushi, including a small list of 1/2 priced sushi on the table. Today we tried the Shrimp Volcano roll, the Las Vegas roll, yellowtail scallion roll, and lastly the Scream roll. I'll be honest, I didn't care much for the yellowtail scallion roll. It was just a bit onion-y for me. But the rest of the sushi was SO good that I just had to give this place five stars still. The atmosphere was beautiful, the sushi came out within a reasonable time, the service was WONDERFUL, and the food was freakin' delicious. This place is amazing and we have been going to them for YEARS, back to when they first started at their old location! My personal favs are their Volcano and Carolina rolls, omg! The food is fresh, and so wonderful! SO many things to try and all have been so good to us all! And SPECIALS! You can order half price rolls ALL the time, check the weekly specials!! You can try a new one each time, paying only half!! Their house made ginger dressing for their salad is SO good! I have only been here once, buy wow. I had both ramen and sushi. It's not Ichiraku Ramen, but it is great. Best part about it, it was not full of salt, so it did not give me a headache, or raise my blood pressure like all of the other locations. They can prepare it without mushrooms if you like, and they even give you the option of having egg in it. If you don't know about the eggs, that is where it appeared as if they just cracked a raw egg in the ramen, and the boiling liquid cooked the egg. I liked the ramen very much. As far as the sushi, I found the prices very reasonable, and more reasonable than other places. The portions were a good size, and nicely presented. This is a place I definitely recommend going to. Their new location is great! I got to order the tamago sushi and nabeyaki udon both were phenomenal, especially if you're used to authentic Japanese cuisine. With that being said it's also great for the price. They have a large menu for both Japanese foodies and American palettes so this is a place that can please anyone. The staff are friendly and are usually playing some interesting Korean food shows on the tv if you're into that sort of thing-- it definitely plays into the atmosphere.
