I downloaded yelp just to write a review for this place. For my first time eating here, I am massively impressed with the food and service! The servers were very helpful, kind, and accommodating. They have a separate part of the restaurant where they will cook in front of you. (That half opens after 5pm, so I didn't get to see that in action this time.) The food was immaculate and delicious!! We even grabbed a few salads to take home just bc the ranch was so good! My partner has a lot of dietary restrictions and she enjoyed everything as well. It's a bit pricey, but the portion sizes give you bang for your buck. Will definitely come here again and recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi or hibachi. :) read more

First time there and not the last. Service was very friendly, fast and attentive. We had the hibachi entrees which come with a soup, salad and your choice of entree. When we first got there, we didn't know that sitting at the table to have food cooked opened at 5, so we came back. The guy said he was the only one there at 4, so we had to come back. It's seems to be a mixture of a take out restaurant and a Japanese steakhouse. When we went back, we waited maybe 5 minutes to be seated, and it didn't take long for the chef to come out. It was the same guy from when we first got there. He was really nice! It seems like more people like to sit in the other side and just have their food ordered and eat there rather than have it cooked in front of them. He did the throwing items at our face but it was onions instead it rice. He was really funny. Everything was great. I do like coming here because many Japanese food options, esp sushi. Everything was just okay. Can't compare to the restaurants in the RTP area, but it does satisfy the cravings. Avoid the "white tuna"! I had sashimi there: tuna, salmon, yellow tail, and something they called 'white tuna'. The fish tasted good and was served in good sized portions, but a couple hours later I got stomach pains and felt nauseous. After googling 'white tuna sashimi' I found this is a common affect of this fish (Escolar). It is outlawed in Japan and Italy. I think serving this type of fish speaks volumes about the character, ethics and priority of the owners. I will not be returning. read more

This place has been around since 2008. We have been coming just as long. You come to same for the food quality and the entertainment of watching your meal be prepared in the flat top in front of you. The chefs are normally funny and try their best to make your meal great. I had the filet and scallops and my wife had the filet and shrimp. Both well prepared and flavorful. Because the teppan style cooking they will wait to sit you until they have enough to fill one side of the table. Which means you will most likely end up sitting next to strangers. That's ok, never had a problem. When we first came to Sake there were three full tables each setting 20. Now the third table has become storage. That looks a little bad seeing boxes stacked to the ceiling in the dining room. They do lots of business in take out especially on the sushi side. The price is competitive and the quality of the food is good. If you have little kids who don't like fire be warned of the entertainment includes fire. read more

No reviews as of lately? Let's change that. My fiancé and I went here after shopped at Tanger. Small place but VERY tasty and somewhat of a gem here in Mebane. From the outside, you almost wonder if it's even open. But when you sit down and your first plate is brought out, you know you made the right choice. The staff was friendly and quick. An excellent example of a non-chain American-style Japanese restaurant. Sake has two sides to the restaurant, the teppanyaki (usually mistakenly referred to as hibachi) style where the food is cooked on the hot griddle right in front of you, and the regular tables at the other. The service is great, the prices are good, and the quality of the food, especially the sushi, is top-notch. There's no need to drive to Kanki for excellent Japanese food. read more

I work in the area so I only go here for lunch, but its my favorite lunch spot around. They have a sushi menu which allows you to choose two rolls and a salad or soup for about $8.00 if I recall correctly. Definitely the healthiest option that I've found. The sushi is pretty good, certainly not the best I've had, but I do keep going back... Service is dreadfully slow though - I can only go when I have at least 45 minutes to an hour to kill (that's including the drive time to the restaurant). It's never really busy when I'm there either, so I'm wondering what the service would be like when it actually is... Either way, the food is great. My co-workers normally split between the sushi special or hibachi and they rave about both equally. Definitely give this place a shot; I can't vouch for the Japanese Steakhouse side, but the regular seating side has some top notch food in an unassuming location. read more

Went there again last night and the food is excellent. The sushi is absolutely comparable to places like Oishi in Chapel Hill, Little Tokyo in Cary (http://www.yelp.com/biz/little-tokyo-japanese-restaurant-cary), or Shiki Sushi in Durham. The special rolls are fantastic and the fish is always fresh. I have not eaten at the Teppanyaki (Hibachi) side but the menu seems like typical Hibachi style. I have seen the cooks/entertainers though through the window and it looks like a good show. The presentation of the sushi is also excellent and very artistic from banana leafs to press-molded wasabi to creative arrangements. The service we had was totally fine although there were not many people in the restaurant. Would recommend for kids on either side of the restaurant and this place is probably one of the only really decent eateries in Mebane, NC. read more

It was ok. For my sushi I ordered the volcano roll. That was actually good. I also ordered the mahi-mahi for the hibatchi part of my meal. I liked the rice and the veggies, the fish was okay. Everything but the sushi was just okay. The hibatchi items were not that memorable. The service was alright. Drinks were refilled at about half the glass being empty. The show was good. There were children at our table and they had never seen it before so they thought it was cool. My husband and I really enjoy Sake. We have only dined-in once, but we pick up take-out often. They have a great take-out deal: buy one hibachi dinner and get one for 50% off. We always get the filet, which comes with rice, veggies, salad, and soup.
