We arrived to Miami the day before our cruise and wanted something different, but within walking distance of our hotel. The Uber ride from the airport told us traffic is ridiculous Friday night and we were not willing to venture far. The menu is extensive and it's hard to decide what to eat. We started with the Tiradito, which is White fish, lemon yuzu sauce, cilantro, and sriracha sauce. It was so fresh. Each little cilantro leaf had a drop of sriracha. We also had the Usuzukuri, Miami Roll and The Yuzu Hamachi Roll. All were very fresh and flavorful. We don't see these options in San Antonio. Just wish we had time after our cruise to visit again. This is a nice local sushi and sake restaurant in Edgewater. The server we had was super friendly and helpful. We also had a nice seat with plenty of cushions and room for a hungry kiddo. We tried their house hot sake which was a good price for the size of the bottle ($13 for an XL bottle.) we also tried the crunchy spicy crab appetizer, white fish ceviche, miso soup, baby octopus (yum!), and two rolls (Boston and kiwi - yum!) The prices were reasonable and the food was very good with hearty portions. * Update: We've been back a couple of times since our first time. The last two servers weren't the friendliest - they would take our order and bring it out but no conversation or rapport like the first time. We had an adult date night with plans to watch Wicked at the Adrienne Arsht nearby. I did my due diligence (so you don't have to) and completely recommend this place. Food: we got the flamed salmon roll and ordered the salmon deluxe, but was brought the trio deluxe(and welcomed the error with open arms). We also ordered apps and beer. Food, definitely on point. Its practically tied for our fave sushi spot. Ambiance: It is kind of small, or, perhaps lack of too many patrons just gave it that vibe. Not a lot of people, but for what we needed, it helped. Wherever we go, we always check out the local sushi spots! Sake Room was walking distance from where we were staying and a few locals recommended it. Sayuri was our waitress and she was friendly and quick. We started with ice cold Sapporos beers on tap and Dirty Edamame. I prefer my Edamame to be seasoned with more than just sea salt and this really delivered! For my entree, I ordered the Weeds Roll. It was so flavorful and the fried seaweed on top was a nice addition. My husband ordered the trio deluxe. He will typically order a sashimi dinner (an assortment of raw fish) when we go out for sushi. They only offered raw fish ala carte, so he opted for the trio instead. What a good find! Posted up at the sushi bar on Friday night to enjoy some sushi and beer. We ordered the tuna tartare tower to start which was awesome. It's a stack of rice, avocado, tuna and ponzu. As for rolls. the we split the Jalapeño popper roll and the spicy tuna crunch roll. The Jalapeño popper roll was so good - it's got cream cheese, shrimp tempura, jalepeños and of course, spicy mayo! The spicy tuna crunch roll was delish too - i've never met a roll that isn't made better by adding spicy mayo and tempura flakes. To wash it down we ordered Sapporos. The spicy tuna crunch roll was not spicy at all, so I basically paid for tuna with crunch. The service was terrible, they forgot to provide us soy sauce, ginger and wasabi. The server was pretty rude and it was hard to get her attention. I ordered a Stella beer and the glass was not filled all the way to the top. I spent over $100 and I don't feel it was worth it. Met up with a coworker (which is amazing since we both happened to be in Miami!) for late lunch/dinner and HIS BIRTHDAY. We both decided to start off with a glass of Sapporo, delish. He decided to go with the Pork Gyozas and I went with my favorite Asian appetizer, edemame. Both very delicious and salted/seasoned perfectly. I will always recommend edemame as your healthy appetizer choice! For our entrees, I went with the salmon/avocado roll and the Volcano roll (pictures shown below). The first roll was simple and delicious, definitely something light to enjoy if you do not want to eat much. But since i also skipped lunch that day, I decided to add on the Volcano roll, which was WAY more than I expected. Not only was it gigantic, but there was more topping on the sushi "ball" rather than inside of the roll itself. Let's just say I over did it with the Volcano roll, and should've stuck with the salmon/avocado.. My coworker went with the Pork Datsu Skewers with ginger salad. And honestly, I was jealous. After a run we came here but quickly realized after sitting down we had forgotten to bring money. Our host laughed and was nice about it. When the mood for sushi roused us again we came back, a couple of weeks later. This is not a traditional Japanese restaurant but more of a fusion of some Asian themes. This restaurant sits on Sunset Avenue and has both a bar with bar seating and tables. The modern decorum is patterned grey walls and grey painted ceilings with Buddha prominently in various places. Nothing spectacular. Tables have nice looking black napkins and a bamboo to each table. I started with a draft Sapporo and Nicole had water, to which we added miso soup and Nicole ginger-dressed salad, as appetizers. The presentation of the miso was nice on modern white porcelain-faux bowl, but the soup itself was rather bland---not the tangy flavor of miso that one expects from a good bowl of miso soup. The soup tasted watered down, was missing sea kelp and larger piece of tofu. Nicole also was disappointed with her ginger salad, noting that the dressing lacked the thick pieces of ginger and taste was equally bland and the salad leaves used were romain as opposed to traditional iceberg lettuce and carrots---further the large salad was puny. Perhaps it was the starters that set the tone for the rest of the courses, but there were a couple of more disappointments with the menu selections we chose, or what I ended up settling for, as the restaurant discontinued serving Chirashi bowls, sashimi served on a bed of rice. It's a just a little odd when a Japanese-style restaurant can't come up with a benchmark menu item: sushi rice with slices of sashimi on top, but they will make you some sushi rolls. I struggled to find anything else worthy, and finally asked for a recommendation. The host selected a popular item which was their tri-fish riceless rolls. Nicole also had a riceless roll order. At 20$ a pop there were not cheap. When the orders came out I looked at the presentation which again was pleasant. But the riceless rolls just fell apart with your chopsticks, and they were not satisfying. The value of the fish compared to what was served was not there. In the end we spent 65$ for a coupe of small appetizers, one beer, and two sushi roll orders. Similar competing restaurants are also charging this but you get a better value. I don't see myself going back when I need sushi I'll go to one of the other three competing restaurants that are also walking distance from home. read more

I get wanting us to try something different, but when the rolls we had been ordering averaged out to ~$12, you should probably give us another option that is also in our range. At the very least, give us a warning of the price, we ordered it without looking at the menu because we wanted to take her word for it. I use to always go to saje room on NW 18th and yesterday went to pick up take out and ordered 3 crunchy crab salads, 2 weeds rolls and 2 Jumanji rolls. For the first time ever the crunchy crab salads were bad. They tasted like they had cleaning supply. This had never happened before. And after getting home from work in the late afternoon I was thinking about how disappointing it was ti have to throw away my favorite crunchy crab salad and decided to call the restaurant and tell them what happened and at first the person said they would refund the salads, and after putting me on hold, she came back to say the manager said they wouldn't be issuing me a refund because it had been 24 hours. Awesome find! This place competes highly with some of the best sushi in town! This is a family owned restaurant. They have some awesome rolls; and some of the freshest sushi I have ever tasted in my life! It was hard to chose what to eat so we asked the staff for help and they were smiling from ear to ear as they recommended the jumangi and maguro rolls. They were absolutely delicious! We gobbled them up and took the rest home to share with the fam (who would have hated us if we didn't) This place is located right in Biscayne Blvd. It's a great place you can walk to before or after a show at the Adrienne Arsht Center and let the miami traffic die down as you have a delicious meal. I don't know how I hav missed this place the last 3 years living a few blocks away. So delicious and perfect little fushion of Asian cuisine. They mainly have sushi and rolls- a lot of them, but also noodles, fried rice, yummy apps to go along with it. Some of the rolls are a little pricy but majority of the menu is fairly priced. I have to go back to try more but after my 1st time I can definitely recommend the gyoza for appetizer and fried rice as a side. So yummy. If you love crab like me, the Dr Philips roll was perfect crab inside and out!:). They have wine and beer as well. Bottles of wine average around the $30 mark.
