I was first referred to Sako's via a good friend who knows a lot more about cars than I do. So, I knew I could trust Sako from the start. The first time I took a care there, at the old location, Sako gave me an assessment of what to do and what he said I didn't need to do yet, which I appreciated. He broke it down clearly and didn't try to take advantage of getting as much work as possible like many shops would. It left such a great impression I knew I'd be back the next time I needed a local shop. Fast forward to just a week ago and I had issues with two of our cars - the old VW Passat and a temp car, a Hyundai Veracruz, my in-laws gave my son until his project car is done. Neither one of these cars do we want to put much more $$ into them. I told Sako we need them safe and working and what's needed. He totally took care of them. For the Veracruz, a Starter replacement and brakes. For the VW, the control arms, fixed the AC/Heater system, fixed an oil leak, welded the cracked header pipe, and more. He finished the VW within a couple of days and same for the Veracruz - even during the busy holiday rush. Sako shoots straight and he's very honest. Horrible service. Two friends recommended them as they had used Sako when they were younger. I brought my Jeep in and said I wasn't in a hurry to get it back. TWO MONTHS later I got it back. Some things were fixed but some didn't get fixed. The bill was very vague. After two months of using it occasionally I noticed the balance cover gasket was leaking. I called to setup a time to have it repaired under the 12 month/12,000 Mike warranty and was told to bring it in. After many phone calls and badgering (over one month elapsed) on the status I am here picking up the Jeep with nothing done to it except to steam clean the engine to find the leak. It's ridiculous and unprofessional. The parking lot is always full and you'll hear things like "leave me your number because I lost it and how long will you be gone?" This is a poorly managed place and I will not be back except to deliver the bill from another shop to do the warranty work. If Sako doesn't pay that then we can meet in Small Claims Court. read more

i tried Sakos a few years ago because my brakes sounded horrible.. i explained the problem to him and had him check it out and do an oil change. When i got back later that day, he charged me for the oil change and told me that the particular brake pads i had on were indeed making noise, but they were fine and had 60% of their pads left. Worst business transaction of my life. I feel like I was part of a shake down. In fact I think this place may have broken the law. Sako did more work than explicitly requested without asking me if I wanted it done , charged me much more for that unasked for work than any other autoshop quoted me at, loaned me a car with a broken gas gauge. But worst of all, told me I could pay some upfront and the rest later, but when I arrived Sako left the premises and forced me to pay all of it upfront, despite texting me that morning to confirm our agreement. There's like 5 other auto body shops on the street. Please, I beg you, go to any other one because there's no way they could be less scummy. You will be ripped off. read more

I would give him no stars if I could. I was recommended by family members because I was told he was trustworthy but boy were they wrong. He is the biggest scammer I have ever encountered. Had my Prius towed 55 miles there because the inverted water pump needed to be replaced. Before we even got it towed there he quoted us at $300 which we felt was decent. So we got my car towed there and the 12V was dead so he charged it and when it was finished charging he said there was nothing wrong with the car. We explained to him that we knew the problem, it was the inverted water pump and asked him to please just fix that part. So, like he did many times before he said "oh I'll check it out again," but something told me he had never checked it out in the first place and besides that we told him we didn't want a diagnostic because we already knew the problem and had it coded before. So finally, we pick it up because nothing is being done to fix it and he tells us that will be a hundred dollars b/c he put gas in it (which we know damn well he didn't because it was completely empty when we picked it up and it's a Prius mind you)! He noted that if we left and the repair light came back on he would apply that $100 I pay to the repair. So ten minutes after getting my car from the lot my repair light comes back on so we rush it to the shop and good Lord almighty! You know what the problem was?! THE ONE WE TOLD HIM! The inverted water pump that was the whole reason we took it there in the first place. So WHAT DOES HE TELL US?! He tells us it'll be $350 on top of the $100 we already gave him for doing absolutely nothing to my car. And mind you he originally quoted us $300 for that repair which is the whole reason we decided to go through the hassle of towing it 55 miles to get it repaired there in the first place. Needless to say I will not be getting it repaired there. I'm beyond frustrated and he will be seeing me in court if I don't get my money back. read more

I took my Toyota truck to Sako's after it did not pass emissions test. Sako took the time to explain a couple of possible problems, and I went ahead with the first repair the diagnostic computer suggested. That solved the problem partially, however Sako continued to troubleshoot the truck at no extra charge until all the remaining error codes were cleared and the truck passed the emissions test. What I SHOULD do is write a bad review, then Sako wouldn't be so overworked! But the reason he is so busy is he does great work at reasonable prices. I've seen the few bad reviews here and I guess things didn't work out for these guys but I can tell you we are very glad our friend recommended him to us nearly ten years ago.
