I just got back from my first time in NYC. I was walking to Rockefeller Center, when I saw Saks. I have to about I had to double check what street I was on! This was THE SAKS on fifth Avenue. I really felt silly, that I had just walked into the flagship store. I'm not by all means, a trendy fashion icon. But I'm glad to have stumbled on the iconic luxury department store in Manhattan. i know Saks has been struggling since their Nieman-Marcus takeover, and one of my last experiences with Saks was with a really snotty associate in the SF Bay Area... but wow, the sales associates we interacted this week at the NYC 5th Ave store were amazing! 2 guys we met on the 5th floor were super friendly and helpful, and steered us in the right direction, and made a call for us. and then Joanna in coats was just amazing! She was definitely knowledgeable and helpful, but most importantly, she was super patient with me when i had a stupid credit card issue AND a gift card issue with my purchase. I'm elated, that Saks has returned with their holiday light show. The presentation is spectacular, takes place every 10 minutes, the entire 5th Avenue facade is lit up, the sound system is crystal clear and pleasantly loud. The Holiday Display (Light Show) was wonderful this past Holiday season. The show is best at night time and it displays lots of lights & colors for a duration of 10 minutes or so. The song "Diamonds" by Rihanna is playing during the show. This Avenue is filled with tourists and a lot of commotion during the holiday season. It's not too difficult to get a good picture and/or video of the show despite the crowd. This is something that I may make an annual tradition whenever I'm in the area. read more

Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH Outlet (WOODBURY COMMONS, NY) RUN AWAY FROM THIS PARTICULAR STORE Very disappointed with my recent experience at this store. I purchased a product recently and attempted to return it, but my return was refused. I found the situation extremely frustrating, especially given how recently the purchase was made. I understand that stores have return policies, but those policies should be clearly communicated to customers before or at the time of purchase. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling that customer satisfaction was not a priority. The store manager along with other people who work at the store were very NASTY. I will never go back to this or any other Saks Fifth Avenue store. I'm also cancelling the Sacks fith avenue retail card. read more

Review is strictly for the light show as we did not find a reason to go inside. Definitely be ready for shoulder to shoulder crowds with minimal space to move. Thankfully the show runs every 10 minutes so if you catch the end of a show let the crowds go away and snag a better spot. The show is short but is worth seeing. It ran for about roughly 5 minutes. We snagged a decent spot across the street to view it and had to deal with the occasional bus or large vehicle passing by or people walking by. One of the many Christmas time things to visit if you are in NYC. Close enough that you might as well check this out at the same time as the Rockefeller Tree! read more

Come year annually to see the Saks Fifth Avenue holiday light show and holiday window display typically and occasionally when in the area go into the store to peruse to see what they have. Nice decor for the holiday light show. Some of the holiday windows were very cool. Very high end store... if one can afford it. The show is less than 5 minutes and runs every 10 mins after 5pm usually before Thanksgiving til January. 2025 show: Diamonds theme. Started great...then lulled... middle song and greeting should have been the beginning...seemed out of place. . 2024 show: canceled 2023 show: clock themed.. a bit boring 2022 show: Elton John theme...was the best of all the shows that I have seen so far. read more

I purchased Valentino gloves from Saks Fifth Avenue in January 2026 for $1,200. After wearing them only twice, the inside dye transferred onto my hands and stained my skin. I returned the gloves in good condition, but Saks refused the return and sent them back with a hole that was not there when I shipped them. The item was damaged while in their possession, yet they used it to deny my return. Very disappointing experience. Poor quality and even worse customer service. I went to Saks Fifth Avenue on my most recent visit to NYC. The store is absolutely gorgeous. Everything about it screams luxury and high-end. I was greeted warmly by several associates. I was on a time crunch because I had tickets to a show, but I had a specific item in mind to pick up. I asked an associate to put me to the right counter and if it had been a snake it would have bitten me lol. I specifically wanted an engraved Guerlain lipstick case. That was the easy part, however I had a hard time picking the right color with all the shade choices they had available. Sounds like I'll just have to return to get more! read more

Visited Saks 5th Ave to put my noise on a few new scents. Michael & another sales associate were super helpful at the Creed counter. I only travel with my 1 carry on and personal item when I fly, so I couldn't buy a big bottle; though I was able to get a small flask and they were kind enough to not only fill my atomizer with the scent I really enjoyed but they have me a few samples as well. What apps value to this location is the very high-end stores and also the smaller products that usually aren't carried by this brands. This selection from clothing, fragrances luxury bags, and luxury items. It is just impeccable and the service here it is top-notch everyone's here to help you find what you want and they have special employees for designated brands. I came here looking for a candle. I looked around. I smelled everything that I could, and everything that I smelled I was given a huge depth of information. I ended up going with Le Labo. This is a fragrance lover's dream! I went to one of the floors (I forgot which one, probably the second) and was met with multiple stands of colognes. There were a ton of niche too, which is cool because I got to smell a lot of them I've only seen online before (Creed, Mind Games, Bvlgari, etc). The store clerks weren't too talkative except for one woman who wouldn't seem to stop talking to me. I have had a terrible experience with ordering from Saks 5th Avenue. For my son's wedding I ordered a Teri Jon dress from Saks. I liked it and decided to keep it even though the hem needed to be taken up about 3 inches. Within the 30 day return window, I took it in to my tailor. He instructed me to pick up the hemmed dress in two weeks. When I went in to pick it up, I was shown by my tailor that the dress had been clearly worn before. He knew it was new to me because the dress still had the tags on. He gave me the portion of the hem that he had to cut off which clearly showed dirt and wear at the original hem line. I then contacted Saks Customer Care, was given a run around even though after being sent pictures of the damaged and dirty hem, they admitted it that the dress has been worn before. Because I was just barely outside the 30 day limit for returns, they said they could not give me a partial refund or allow a return. This is even though they acknowledged the dress had been previously worn. They repeatedly apologized but said their hands are tied. I will never do business with Saks again read more

This is Saks' flagship store in Midtown Manhattan on Fifth Avenue that opened in 1924. After Saks & Co. merged with Gimbel Brothers, Inc., they opened this iconic store. It is ten stories high and has three facades with several American flags. The exterior of the building has several large glass display windows on the ground level for pedestrians to enjoy the latest fashion trends. I like coming here during the holiday season and seeing the light show on the front of the building. The inside of the store is lavishly decorated for the holidays and looks like winter wonderland. Go check out the tree and holiday lights at nearby Rockefeller Center and then come over here and do some shopping. The window displays are decorated for the holidays and get better and more creative every year. read more

Once again the flagship store on Fifth Avenue was just beautiful for the holidays. Hundreds of thousands of lights dress up the windows facing Fifth Ave and all ten floors of the store. This year is a joint venture with Christian Dior. The theme Carousel of Dreams is absolutely stunning. A giant zodiac like clock covers the entire outside of the store. The Carousel of Dreams follows the fascinating story of Christian Dior's first visit to New York in 1947. His journey from Paris to New York City, with a mix of references to landmarks and to the Dior fashion house. Each window was more magnificent thatn the one before and the entire store was decorated beautifully. If you want to get into the Christmas Spirit just take a a walk down fifth Avenue, to Saks and grab a selfie in front of one of the iconic windows. read more

A lot of these negative reviews are related to online issues, not this actual store (which is the physical flagship Saks store). Cmon. I've been a Saks customer for a long time, but mostly online. I don't get to one of the stores very often. The Chicago & BH stores are nice but this one is my favorite. The store is absolutely stunning & truly iconic. Some of the staff isn't always the warmest people you have ever met but I've been able to get help whenever needed. I bought a bag in the Celine store here most recently and both sales associates were friendly and were able to locate what I was looking for even though it was in a different area of the store. Also the Prada associates are nice as well. I would come here absolutely anytime I need something designer. Love. Truly a fashion lovers dream space inside. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I was arranging wedding shopping for a friend, we needed a tux and suit. Traveling from out of town, I was organized and worked to book an appointment with a stylist. My first reach-out to Saks "concierge" was on June 10th targeting a June 29th appointment. I chased Saks all the way up to the day of (theoretical) appointment (5 subsequent emails trying to just get a response). Never had a stylist, never had an appointment. I even gave them my cell, to call or text, and told them I would not be monitoring email once in the city for the weekend. I finally get an email from "one of the managers" trying to scramble to pull together an appointment on the same day but she has nothing, no information that I'd provided. "Is this for womenswear or menswear". What a joke. I was embarrassed - could you imagine? Being the friend setting up wedding attire shopping in NYC, and you can't even get a basic appointment w Saks? Thank God Bergdorf Goodman exists because they delivered - assortment, expert stylist, and an amazing experience. Never, ever would I look to Saks for anything. read more

Saks used to be one of my favorite stores but the service is not the same as it used to be. They have good taste but their order fulfillment is so flawed now. You need to purchase 300$ worth of stuff if you want free shipping on line. Which is fine. But then they will ship each item separately which will result in pending transaction and loss of time waiting for FedEx. Then also sometimes they can forget about the order and just leave it in progress. I also would really appreciate if they make it clear on line if the shoes are men or women. I mostly shop online from Sake because it is more convenient but coming to the store is always a present. Department store is dying but to be able to see the real stuff is still better than ordering online then if didn't fit you have a choice to return either in the store which you will get refund faster or return by mail will take more time and you will have to deal with waiting. I bought a bag and didn't fit so I bring it back. The person who accept my return really like my bag so maybe he will buy it after I return. Good for him. The reason I gave this stars because no one care when you ask for direction. It was funny, start from I stepped in.
