I ordered the tonkatsu ramen, which was tasty but definitely on the westernized side -- I mean, who puts corn in ramen? They certainly don't do that in Japan, but whatever, it still hit the spot. Only real downside: the bathroom lighting. It was way too dark -- all the lights were off except a few near the sink, which made it feel kind of spooky. Do yourself a favor and come here with your friends. Large, comfortable dining room and the menu has fantastic variety!! We shared an Eel Avacado Sushi roll for starters. Fresh and delicious!! My husband had the Spicy Meso Ramen, which included Crab Meat, Grilled Pork, Bamboo shoots and boiled egg. He noted that it was delicious, but only really had one bite that was "spicy". I ordered the Teriyaki Steak and Shrimp. The beef was tender and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I put Yum Yum sauce on my fried rice and was in heaven! We also had our favorite drinks, Yuengling beer for him, Cabernet for me. Our server Ingrid was top drawer!! Please check it out!! We went here spur of the moment on a cold night because my husband really wanted sushi. The rolls here are very affordable, and my husband really enjoyed the sushi he had. I ordered hibachi and asked if I could have double veggie instead of rice. It was no problem! The food was good, and the service was quick. Always fantastic quality, regardless of wether it's ordered takeout, delivered by Uber Eats, or dine-in. Serving staff are attentive, food is always great quality and tastes great. Pricing is quite nice as well for Dine-In. Ambiance of the restaurant is very pretty and inviting, though the door broke for some reason, so there's just a plastic cover for it now. Hadn't been in a while. We discovered that they face the same challenge as many popular Bloomington restaurants-- kitchen management. The food on a dull Sunday evening was delicious. Two poke bowls were tasty and well prepared, as were the appetizers (tuna tataki and their odd but fun cheese fried concoction). The problem was that we waited a very long time. Worse, the entrees came before the appetizers. We were starved. The food and ingredients were fine. We therefore robbed a star. It's a nice place. The waiter made no excuses. We're otherwise patient, but were ready to get up and leave-- it took that long. Yes, good food takes a while; custom bowls are made to order. Doesn't take forty+ minutes. read more

If you've been to actual good sushi in Bloomington like japones or Ami then DO NOT GO HERE. The good reviews are not accurate. The restaurant itself is poorly designed and feels cold not comfortable. Plastic on top of table clothes like they want to do the bare minimum for clean up. Only one soy sauce choice and it wasn't wiped off. Service super slow ( although our waitress was super sweet, the food just came out really slow). The wasabi isn't real and looks like green playdoh. Oh and I almost forgot. MY BOYFRIEND GOT FOOD POISONING. We came here after he surprised me for our anniversary with a fun activity and we decided to try somewhere new to eat. We saw all the good reviews and thought why not but truly these positive reviews must be just friends of the owner or people getting paid off because the sushi was not up to par even with taste nothing felt fresh and the place didn't feel very clean but we didn't expect to get sick! How horrible. We will not be coming back. And I truly don't know why anyone would. My boyfriend was throwing up for 10 hours after we got back. read more

I was on a Pho expedition, since I was out of town and I live in a Pho-desert. Nothing for 50 miles! Anyway, even though this is a cool looking Japanese restaurant, with what appears to be an amazing sushi offering, they have Pho with rare round steak, so I tried it. It was good. I've only been here once, but I was very pleased! I thought the ambiance was nice--not extremely fancy but seemed clean and bright. I was a little hesitant towards ordering Vietnamese pho (rice noodle) at first since it's a Japanese restaurant with Chinese elements, but the pho was actually really good! Broth was very flavorful, beef was nice and tender and they gave a good amount of it, and there were a lot of noodles which I love!! Only thing is that the bean sprouts and the basil was not as fresh as I prefer, but otherwise it was really good. And o another thing I loved was that they had bigggg portions so I felt super satisfied but if you have a smaller appetite that might be something to be prepared for. Having lived in Hawaii for three years, it was painful picking my favorite sushi place in town being so far from the ocean. I've come to terms with the fact that I'm probably gonna have to eat sashimi that is thawed and I'm OK with that now as long as it's still good quality and as fresh as it can be. My kids and I, who are also sushi obsessed, have decided this is our favorite sushi restaurant in town. (My Thai second) We have definitely tried lots of the others out. We usually come during the happy hour time because my kids typically just like edamame, potstickers, & a simple salmon roll. I love getting the avocado salad (dressing is delicious.) then I either get the tuna Tataki or a fancy larger roll depending on how hungry I am. My only complaint is I used to get the hot sake until I realized they warmed it up in the microwave and that was a bit of a turn off to me so now I just stick to water or a glass of wine. My favorite part about this location has been my servers. Both of my regular servers were extremely hospitable and friendly and consistently delivered great service. There is ample parking. Other guests coming in for teriyaki grill items seemed very content also. read more

No smiles. Ordered the Family Boat which is the largest combo. Don't think it will serve a family unless yours is a 1 or 2 person family. The diced cucumber garnish looked water logged and tasted soapy. Sushi 1 star: no taste. Tuna was red dyed. They should have used the orange dye on the salmon since it had a grayish tone. Sashimi 1 star: same comment as sushi. Cut roll 3.5 star: I recommend you stick with the cut rolls since they have much more flavor from the additional ingredients. Miso ramen 2 star: Soup did not taste like miso. Didn't taste like much of anything and had a slight sour taste. Noodles were acceptable. Tonkatsu ramen 3.5 star: much better flavor but slightly salty. The salt might have been the flavor. Without it, it may not have had much flavor. Service 2 star: It's not that the employees were rude, they just didn't seem happy to have customers. Table, chair and floor had noodles left on them. This was my first trip to Sakura 15 and definitely won't be my last. They're new and dealing with a good problem: word on the street is they are really good AND they're perfect for carry out which in my case meant a 20-30 minute delay on my food. I wasn't happy with that but the food itself made up for it easily! This location has been 2-3 Asian cuisine places in the past but they didn't last. I pray S15 does. Decor is ultra modern with an Asian twist. I didn't dine in so I don't know how service is but they were practicing social distancing well due to Covid-19 as I watched he room for quite a while. I ordered the steak and scallops dinner which came with a huge portion of both plus fried rice in great packaging. Egg roll included: The taste was great, it was hot (obviously it was just cooked and I picked it up myself and it's a 10-15 minute drive home). I also ordered a side of noodles which was dirt cheap and could feed an army. I ordered way too much because I had no idea what to expect. Others in the group had chicken and steak hibachi dinners. All enjoyed their food and we had leftovers for two days. The 'maybe we should order extra rice or noodles' is not necessary as I learned. Pricing was so good I just assumed small portions. The sushi appetizer we ordered (just a couple small rolls) were just ok. If I was looking for sushi for dinner I might look elsewhere but I usually mix and match so this will be my go-to. There was just nothing to the rolls for me but again i was overwhelmed by the hibachi side so that may have something to do with it. I'll order sushi again to see what I think. Normally we have a great experience here. That was not the case today as we were seated and waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged by any waiter. We put in food orders, 2 rolls for one and lo mein for the other. The lo mein came out and was eaten all before the other got their rolls. Glasses sat empty for 10 minutes and when they were refilled she filled them half way. Now this would not have been the worst experience if the restaurant had had more customers in it but there were 5 tables occupied with 3 waiters, so we are confused as to what this service was today. read more

Walking in to Sakura15, you feel like you're in another part of the world. The decorations are beautiful, the seating is white leather chairs with nice tables and the staff is polite, smiling and very attentive. My Hubby had the Japanese udon noodles with beef (no vegetables of course) and I had the Beef Shoyu Raman (no crabmeat), when his plate came out, it was 3 times the size of a dinner plate, loaded with one of the best smelling/looking/tasting foods we had ever seen!!! It was so flavorful! My Ramen took a couple minutes longer and while the ramen broth was delicious, the noodles looked and tasted just like the instant ramen you can buy in the store. I was a little food jealous of my Hubby for sure. We will definitely return, but I won't be getting the ramen again. I will for sure opt for the Udon with Beef! read more

There's no way this place is 4 stars. They must have their friends filling out fake reviews. We just went there and literally had the worst sushi experience ever. What went bad: Decor is depressing Tables have clear plastic over ugly table cloths. Plastic is sticky and gross to be eating on. Chairs are shaped in a way that force your shoulders forward and it's uncomfortable. I'm an average size guy so not sure why the chairs are designed this way. The sushi itself is gross Ginger was hard and old tasting Wasabi seems squeezed from a tube Chopstick were the cheap wood kind in paper sleeves like you would have for takeout We asked for a tea refill and instead of serving from a tea pot they took our glasses away and bright then back with no regard for who's cup was who's When the sushi came they didn't bring plates or a small bowl for the soy sauce. They then dropped off small plastic disposable cups for the soy sauce. When we asked for soy sauce plates like the table next to us they seemed annoyed and took 5 min to bring them while our 4 month old sushi expired in front of us. All of the servers seemed very unhappy to work there and treated their customers badly The sushi "bar" has been converted to a takeout station. It's pretty sad that you can't sit at the bar and watch them make sushi but maybe they don't want you to see how bad their prep is. What went right: There was ample parking outside. I visited here with my dad and sister after hearing them rave about how good the sushi is. All I can say is WOW. First of all, the ambiance inside is gorgeous. The waitstaff is kind and attentive as well. The sushi was out of this world. I think the pictures speak for themselves! Seriously...SO good. We also had their crab rangoon and they were hot and delicious as well. 10/10 would recommend, especially if you love sushi. I didn't personally try their hibachi food, but the table next to us did and the smell was enticing. For real, you won't be disappointed going here! read more

To start there is absolutely no way this place is 4 stars. Came here for sushi because everything else was closed for easter and I am extremely disappointed. The restaurant is ugly and poorly designed it almost looks like they salvaged furniture from whatever they could get their hands on. (The tables were covered in plastic, the coverings were straight out of an elementary school cafeteria, and the chairs belong in a living room.) The food was bland and un-authentic not to mention they ran out of clean soy sauce containers even though the restaurant was empty. The ginger also tasted a week old. The bathroom was dirty and there was a can of trash right next to the toilet. If that wasn't enough they couldn't even bother to put the soap in the metal dispenser and left the plastic container out on the sink. Even the waiters had a look of disappointment about their jobs as they served customers. I hope this restaurant reads this and takes action! read more

After trying the place on three separate occasions I have to finally post a review for the new Sakura 15 restaurant. The first time I was able to dine-in with my family. The place was busy, but the service was not skipping any beats. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. I grabbed a bento, my wife ordered the hibachi steak, and we ordered some sushi. I also ordered some pork egg rolls and I've gotta say that I'd straight eat these things as a meal on their own. They're THAT good. The sushi was well-made and tasty. My bento came with teriyaki chicken which was flavorful, and there was plenty of it. My wife's steak was cooked well and very juicy. They even dropped a whole jar of yum-yum sauce on the table for us to use! On separate occasions we ordered delivery from Sakura 15. Just like you'd eat in-person, the food was hot and delicious. Even the pork egg rolls were crunchy and steaming. We are glad Sakura 15 has taken over this location and will continue to go back for that sweet sushi goodness. read more

My son, daughter-in-law, and I were in town from Ohio for my granddaughter's tennis tournament. The games were delayed, delayed, and delayed again because of weather so by the time we were ready to find someplace for dinner we were tired and hungry. Since none of us were familiar with the area we searched on Yelp for suggestions. My granddaughter suggested Sakura from the description and reviews. We were seated immediately and our server, Cindy, gave us menus and took our drink orders quickly. She explained that she had several other tables but was efficient, helpful, and very pleasant through our meal. We ordered hibachi meals and in an acceptable amount of time our egg rolls and salad were delivered. I'm originally from the east coast and I'm used to having hot mustard, which wasn't available, for my egg roll. However, the sauce served with them was very good. My granddaughter's salad was larger than expected. Our hibachi meals were huge, more than I could eat and I took my leftovers home. It was tasty reheated. We were still talking about how much we enjoyed our meal and wishing we had a similar restaurant at home. Looking at nearby tables, I was impressed by the size of the sushi rolls. They were huge and the other patrons were scarfing them down so they must have been tasty. I saw some folks enjoying noodle dishes. The menu, for such a small place, was extensive. read more

One of my good friends insisted I try this new(er) place. We went out there earlier tonight and sat down. It was a weekday and pretty quiet so other than a few other tables, we had the whole place to ourselves. The server was very kind and quick to greet our table. She immediately got our drink order and appetizer order. Shortly after, we ordered some sushi. They have 50% off most of their sushi which is a great deal. I ordered a hot tea, a house salad, miso soup, a yummy roll, and an Alaskan roll. they were so good, especially the yummy roll. Definitely a favorite. I then ordered additional sushi to take home to my family. The server was extremely attentive and took great care of our table. This place is so delish. It's quickly becoming our new fav restaurant! We've tried their sushi, hibachi, lo mein, and pho and everything is solid. This is the only place to get good pho in town (they actually serve some parts of the beef pho raw, so you know it's the real deal). The lo mein just keeps getting better and better, and as far as we're concerned, they've got the best sushi in town. They're able to accommodate my shellfish allergy. My daughter has a fish allergy and enjoys their hibachi on the regular. This place is a keeper for sure! read more
