They were unintrusive, yet always on the premises if a guest needed anything. Under their care and ownership, The Hideaway was was given a Class 1 Historic Site designation in Palm Springs, and it well deserved it. Their hearts were in this place. The communal kitchen was open to all and from it, a light morning breakfast of fresh brewed coffee, teas, fresh fruit and fruit juices, yogurt, and toast and english muffins were offered. This was served in the adjoining lounge area which was open all day for guests to enjoy. (Pictures still remain on this website.) It was a great venue to meet and chat with other guests if that's what you felt like doing. (I imagine Covid shut this down, but they never brought it back.) The well-maintained bikes they had on the property were designated for guest use. We had a blast many mornings riding around Palm Springs seeing sites one would be inclined to miss driving by in a car. In the afternoons, as guests swam and lounged poolside and sipped whatever they were drinking, this kind of breezy, light 50's/60's martini lounge music played, adding to the whole mid-century vibe. This place was absolutely amazing. We were sad when the owners sold, but hopeful that new management would take the same care of this historic property and its guests, but it is now an entirely different experience. Gone are these amenities, as is the care and the heart that went into running this place. It looks and feels like if a dime can be saved by providing the minimum, it is. (To be fair, there are coffee pods and Kirkland breakfast bars in every room). Staff is rarely around; during our last stay, we had to repeatedly call someone to get the pool cleaned and cleaned the pool ourselves several times. Stuff is broken or torn and neither fixed nor replaced. After coming here annually for well over a dozen years, we were spoiled by what was. It's a shame and a disappointment that the care and attention that went into our amazing experiences at the Hideaway are gone. This Historic Site in Palm Springs deserves better and so do its guests.

I don't want to tell anyone about this place because it's so wonderful. As a frequent visitor to…read morethe desert, my first impression of The Hideaway was magical. It's small, quaint and has the best view of the mountain. I love that it's adults only! The room was beyond clean and had everything you needed for a quick getaway (coffee machine, water and snacks). The AC and heat worked well. We were walking distance from everything and I look forward to my next visit here for NYE.

Where do I start... First off the new owners should remove "breakfast" from the title since that's…read morenot a thing. But, that's not really why this is getting two stars. The first room we got didn't have a functional deadbolt lock. We tried calling the owners of the facility just for it to not go through like some of the other reviews say. Anyways, the older women who runs it came to check it out and unfortunately had the audacity in the broken English she spoke to just use the bottom lock. Yeah, idk about that lol. My girlfriend and I looked at each other just in disbelief. Fortunately, we were given another room Nextdoor. Typically, my girlfriend and I's routine is to go right to the AC and put it at a reasonable temperature. It did not work. We asked the older lady once again, and she slides over a dusty electric fan. Eek... aside from that, the beds were definitely uncomfortable too. Oh yeah, the fire alarms are detached and thrown into some drawers. I guess the only cool thing about this cabin was some old written diaries talking about the place since 97' when it was owned by the first people who rented out the cabins. Cool stories for sure. Hopefully these new people can fix up some things and make it to seem like what it was during the good'ol'days

I would absolutely recommend staying here, cozy and quaint within walking distance to the village, our room was called Love Letter and had a gorgeous view of the lake, total of 9 rooms with ample parking gives you a feeling of staying at home rather than a hotel or Inn. Gail the manager, who has been there for only three months, was very nice and friendly and accepted us like family, they have their lobby filled with all sorts of snacks, coffee, tea, assorted fruits, fresh and delicious apples from the trees, chips, cereal and more, all open to the guests 24/7, she had even made homemade acorns with chocolate kiss on top, were delicious, all in all a great getaway, for sure a gem to be discovered.

The whole experience was great. Booking was super easy, pricing for the area was quite reasonable and then the actual space was super cute and fun. We stayed in the "Love Letter" room which had a fantastic view of the lake. The style was, as noted by previous reviewers, Victorian and beautifully done. We were greeted by Chris and given a tour of the spaces available to us which included a kitchenette stocked with snacks and goodies (midnight cereal, YES!), a wide selection of DVDs and board games. The room had a little fireplace, lounge room, large bathroom (no bathtub) and a super cozy bed. The ONLY thing that was less than perfect as that the blanket was a tiny stuffy smelling. We very much enjoyed this B&B. Be sure to check out the Belgian Waffle and the Village just across the way.
