This is the first hotel I have seen where the humming birds eat right out of your hands. Rooms are cozy and the pool is warm. They have several fire pits, pizza oven, BBQ and popcorn machine. There is a smaller breakfast area next to the office in which they have muffins and sweet rolls. Our room had a kitchen, but there is another one you can use. It is shared between all of the rooms. There is some noise from the cars going by but it's really quite peaceful. It is well worth the money. read more

I loved everything about this small, yet big-hearted hotel. Mid century decor, a large window with garden and pool view, a kitchenette, lots of closet room, lights, AC, fan, etc....would have never guessed that beyond the tall bushed fencing, there is a life. Despite the rain we encountered on our first day, it did not stop us from enjoying the garden, the pool, its beautiful flowers throughout the hotel and humming birds all over to keep you at awe. Friendly hummingbirds, I must say. Wait til you meet George (purple chest), the approachable one. One of my best friends had chosen this hotel for our birthday trip. A trip we've planned for about a year. She and her husband have frequent this hotel in the past decade and have raved about how wonderful this place was. The pictures she had originally sent us didn't quite describe that only 10 rooms were available at this hotel. Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but I was immediately captivated. I loved staying at the Desert Riviera! It reminds me of a good mix between a hotel and an AirBnB where you have a hotel front desk for all your arrangements, yet your room (all 12 rooms are!) is steps away from a quiet "backyard" with a pool next to firepits, an outdoor BBQ, and a pizza oven. Highlights of what's complimentary: - Have hummingbirds fly into your hand when holding feed - 24/7 access to a 92-degree heated pool and a jacuzzi - Two fire pits & a popcorn machine - 24/7 access to snacks (boiled eggs, fruit, milk, juices, yogurt, granola bars) plus a welcome basket of snacks - Board games (Yahtzee, Scrabble, trivia, etc.), cornhole, bikes, and books/magazines galore We brought supplies to make s'mores each night at the fire pit (they have skewers and hot cocoa!) and they also made us pizza one lunch ($15) directly from their pizza stone. I loved spending half the time exploring Palm Springs and the other half relaxing and partaking in the hotel's offerings. They have off-street parking and the Kingside Poolside room has a separate kitchenette (and there's an on-site shared kitchen) and two walk-in closets. I along with my wife were invited here for the weekend ( 6/5-6/7 ) by our friends family who rents the whole hotel out every year. They have a total of 11 rooms and they booked them all for the weekend. They were celebrating a birthday. I thought itd be a cool idea to bring my Dj set and surprise her with some live music for the day. So just to be sure before i pack anything I had our friend call the office and ask them if itd be ok to do something like that. She spoke to a man name Corbin and he said that its totally fine as long as its between the hours I believe its 8am - 10pm. So the surprise was Saturday I wake up early ( 6am ) and set my stuff up before anyone woke up. I played music at around 9:30am normal level. I Played until 11ish and a lady came from the office and told me it was too loud. And that i wasn't authorized to bring in DJ gear. And that they were getting complaints. I explained to her that I had already gotten a OK by a man name Corbin during the week. And she said well hes wrong we dont allow this here. I said fine ill put my things away she said you don't have to just lower it and take the bass off. I said at that point there's no reason to play music ill just play it through my phone Lol. So I ended up lowering it and having very minimal bass played for about 20mins and got more complaints. So I just turned my stuff off. They took their JBL speaker out played music and that was louder than mine. Played it for hours !!!! So my buddy said give it one more shot we'll put you on the other side where they have that speaker I said ok but this is the last time and ill use 1 speaker at the same level as the JBL. I played for about 1hr and this was already in the evening and got more complaints to the point that the owner showed up to see what was going on. The music wasnt loud I went out to the street to see what the hell these people are talking about and I heard nothing. A muffled sound is what you can hear. I wanted the police to show up so they can actually hear what was going on. They never showed up just a bunch of people complaining to the owner. The fact that the family bought all the rooms for the weekend which isnt cheap and you can't play no music not even at a reasonable level is ridiculous. The people in that area are ridiculous too. We had a new born out there and he wasnt even crying while the music was playing. But yet we had big babys out there crying about the extremely low music I was playing. Comical. Never again. Save your money and go somewhere else. And the 2 stars are for the cleaning staff who were extremely nice! read more

We have stayed here on 5 occasions and hope to stay at least 5 more. We love this place. We like to go around Christmas time and stay a few days. We enjoy the heated pool and the hot tub, the beautiful surroundings, the comfortable rooms and, last but not least, the very helpful and friendly staff. Nothing more relaxing than sitting by pool with a glass of wine and enjoying the quiet. I like the bikes that are available free of charge. There are so many interesting neighborhoods around the hotel. The breakfast is very good and offers several protein choices. I look forward to visiting again later this year. read more

We have been coming to the Desert Rivera for over 10 years. Fabulous location, terrific mid-century modern vibe, meticulous maintenance and wonderful customer service. On this trip, we want to give a special shout-out to Corbin at the front desk. The Dodgers were in the World Series and in 2020, when we were here, we had to watch the game in our room. This time, thanks to Corbin, we were able to watch it on the big screen TV over in the BBQ area. Originally the monitor was not working but Corbin was able to figure out a work around. We stayed at this hotel from 8/16-8/18 and we enjoyed our stay. Corban who works there gave us a tour of the hotel and the guest kitchen where the refrigerator was available to only the guests. The hotel lobby has a good selection of breakfast item such as muffins, breakfast bars, hard-boiled eggs, bagels, teas, beverages, etc. The shower head has a soft flow and the bed and pillows are comfortable. We stayed in room 11 which is a suite, I felt like we lived in a apartment. The pool was heated and it was surrounded by beautiful flowering trees with hummingbirds and feeders. Another wonderful stay at this place as we came back again for the annual Tour de Palm Springs Bike Ride, to celebrate my birthday, and Valentine's. It's not a big place and children are not allowed but because of this, I love the privacy and quietness feel once you're in the courtyard. I appreciate their continental breakfast food which is available every morning , and throughout the day, access to a fully-equipped kitchen and my ultimate favorite, the Super Bowl BBQ. It's very nice to share a meal and enjoy the game with all the other guests staying here. The only recommendation I have for management is to please have the jacuzzi and pool deep cleaned . I was very disappointed that the jacuzzi had algae all around and the pool had debris everywhere as well. I look forward to a relaxing time in jacuzzi and pool after our long bike ride and daily hikes. Other than that, I highly recommend this place for a relaxing stay in Palm Springs. read more

This is a great little boutique hotel, particularly for people like my wife and me who like peace and quiet. I think it's adults only, first of all, so that is a plus for us. But there are a lot of things to like about this place besides the peace and quiet. It's right off the main road (I think Palm Canyon Drive or something) but still quiet and residential in feel. It's got a nice swimming pool, hummingbirds that will feed right off your hand, all the pool accessories, PLENTY of food choices (meaning both breakfast and snacks), and get this - a pizza oven (pizzas in the freezer, you cook your own). That was a really nice touch, let alone having gluten-free pizza as an option. We had the GF pizza and it really was QUITE good. The room was great, I really loved the original tile, TV worked great, nice little kitchenette (we had a specific room type that included the kitchenette, in the corner room) that had everything you'd need even including a toaster. Service was great, too. Really happy that the room was even ready a little early, as we'd arrived earlier than expected. Missy (I think that's her name?) gave me a great tour of the property on my arrival, which was really helpful. This hotel achieves the perfect balance of classic older Palm Springs (older in architecture/design/PS vibe) with modern amenities (I really liked the bathroom fixtures), comfortable bed, nice living room area with couch, huge closet, and (in our case) nice kitchenette. Add the nice extras - no children, relaxing vibe, pool, food, and great service - and you've got a winner. We had one minor issue that was not the hotel's fault, the people next door were constantly going in and out of their room (from room to pool back to room) so the door kept opening and closing so it was just a little irritating in terms of the noise (they could have just left their door open if they expected to go back and forth that much). Not going to hold that against the hotel, and would definitely return to this little gem. read more

Every staff member in this place greeted us with a smile and genuine courtesy. The facility is clean, well maintained & lush. We booked the hotel based on the positive reviews. It is a small boutique hotel with them of the 1950s. It is a small drive from the center of downtown. Our room was spacious clean. All rooms aound the pool. The pool was clean, nice and it so romantic at night by putting out small candles. Just relaxing by the pool and having the mountain as the background is astonishing. The breakfast was ok, " just bagels, cheese and boiled eggs". But they offer unlimited soft drinks and. They offer of charge bicycles to use and explore the city. Sometimes it may get noisy by the pool since it is a small place depending on the residents at the moment. Finally the staff were super nice and helpful. We loved this place! First the staff is excellent. Next it is a special place. There are old time (50's) pictures in each room. Think Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra. This a vintage feeling wonderful place. It is exceptionally clean and well kept. The pool , spa, fire pits, lounge chairs put you in the mood. They are sister hotels with the Hotel California so we had a massage there. It was Valentines Day and they surprised us with Chocolates! Also, when arriving they offer a well wanted adult beverage. It is so much nicer to stay at a lodging with personality rather than pay the same for an ordinary chain hotel. They have a full kitchen outside with commercial Bbq, pizza oven, etc. Rooms also have either mini eating areas or the suites have full kitchens. Stellar experience for my husband's 50th birthday, as we were looking for a few days of relaxation and easy fun in Palm Springs. Now, we are lifetime Platinum Marriott people who rarely deviate from Marriott because of all the perks we get. For this birthday surprise, my husband wanted to go quaint and boutique, to avoid crowds for our getaway. I researched extensively and finally chose the Desert Riviera, having never seen nor stayed there before. As it turned out, this place was everything I'd hoped for and more! Our room was full-blown decorated with streamers, balloons, and a bottle of bubbly on ice when we arrived. They picked up a birthday cake (our choice of chocolate raspberry was divine!) from a local bakery and had it decked out with birthday candles on a cake stand! Needless to say, I got lots of kudos for setting up a perfect birthday getaway that made my guy feel pretty damn special. The property is fabulously decorated and maintained, with countless little indulgences and thoughtful amenities. The staff (all masked), were on-point all day and night, lighting fire pits, wiping down surfaces, and taking care of their guests with special care. We really felt taken care of and free to enjoy ourselves. Highlights include the excellent playlist of classic, chill tunes, a two-person hammock shaded by palm trees (my fave), perfectly heated pool, lovely jacuzzi alcove, awesome fire pits to hang out, hummingbirds all around the landscaping, great WiFi throughout and bikes for guests (we particularly enjoyed taking the tandem bike to explore the area). We can't say enough about the Desert Riviera and the amazing team who made our stay and our birthday celebration such a special and memorable time. We stayed at the Desert Riviera for a couple of nights to get away from our home city, and it was an absolutely wonderful stay. The grounds are immaculate and well-taken care of, and the pool was always kept sparkling clean. There is also a relaxing fire pit with a hammock nearby, in case you really want to relax the day away. The room itself was pretty clean and well cared for. I liked the mid century details, and loved the small kitchen area. It was convenient to have a place to wash dishes, too. The mid century bathroom was adorable! Oh, and you will totally be wanting the shower head for your own bathroom once you try it out. The hotel is great about making snacks and drinks available to you when you want them, which is nice. We even got a bottle of wine one night to enjoy outside when we had the grounds to ourselves for a bit. The staff is also extremely pleasant and ready to help. Ashley and Ellie (sp?) were wonderful and helped make our stay lovely. Last but not least - ask about the hummingbird feeders. Their resident hummers have learned to trust humans and you can hand-feed them. It's an experience you won't soon forget. I loved having them all around the grounds. This 10 room adult only boutique hotel is a gem in the desert. Just 5 minutes from downtown Palm Springs, riding the complimentary bike cruisers made our experience extra fun! Staff is friendly, respectful, and accommodating. Steven, Corbin, and Janis were all excellent hosts. The rooms are modern and very clean. Bed was comfy and kitchenette with little dining provided handy space. Amazing shower head and water pressure. The heated pool, jacuzzi, and fire pits were extra bonuses. This spot is a little piece of paradise. I love it here so much. I have stayed here a few times and have never been disappointed. This last time was great! The manager Misty Roland is the best, and her customer service is on point! She is wonderful host with great energy. My guest and I felt sooo welcomed. Our room was super clean as always, and they were on top of sanitizing everything. Best part for me is the no children and pets. All the perks that come with staying there are fun as always. Bikes, pool, outdoor kitchen, BQ, kitchenware, fridge, towels blankets etc. along with complementary beverages and much more. I stayed for Coachella for weekend 1 with my brother. The hotel is quiet because it has a retirement vibe. I'm ok with that because I just need a place to sleep that is clean and well cared for. Decor is mid century Palm Springs, free water, soda, snacks, simple breakfast. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Don't expect to party here, leave that at the polo fields if you are going to Coachella. Desert Riveria is such an amazingly legit place to stay. Traci, and Misty were both great, as well as the couple who were/are helping them with things this summer. I loved that they had the spring float recliner as I just floated around the pool the entire time. Another great asset is that the pool is 24 hours, and all guest are 18+. So no kids, yay and I was legit at the pool/in the pool until like midnight every night of my stay. The room was cute and clean, the ac kept it nice a refreshing. The vibe is mellow, chill and quaint this isn't the place of you are trying to rage and party loudly. Which isn't a. ad thing not everywhere needs to be that. The grounds are kept up beautifully, and they have done a tremendous job to make the most out of their space. It's truly unique! The Desert Riviera Hotel is a wonderful place to stay in Palm Springs! Now I am sure every other guest that was there while I was there, was not there for Coachella. They were all there to relax and get away. Which is very easily done at the Desert Riviera. Where do I start? The staff are all ridiculously nice and accommodating. The place is surrounded by walls covered in plants and vines which makes you feel like you are in an oasis. The courtyard is filled with trees, plants, flowers and grass. You'll find a heated pool, hot tub, bbq grills, pizza oven and movie theater style popcorn maker in the outdoor dining area which also includes a flat screen tv for your use. The rooms are very well kept and clean, very spacious and comfortable filled with complimentary snacks and beverages. The kitchen area also comes complete with plate ware, utensils, a microwave and even a blender. I absolutely loved the way I felt like I was at a home away from home, rather than a hotel. It was a great experience and was happy to leave the wildness of the musical festival to come back to our quiet, calm, and oh so relaxing retreat before we made our way back into the madhouse of the festival the next day. I was lucky to find this gem and can't wait to come back. If you find your self in Palm Springs this is the place you should come and stay at. What a wonderful experience it was to stay at this quaint little hotel. The atmosphere is inviting, super clean and all of the staff is friendly and accommodating. On our first night, we were greeted by Corbin who gave us a detailed tour of the hotel and made several in-town recommendations for dining and entertainment. We later met Tracy who also took very good care of us for some additional personalized requests and even invited us to tour their sister hotel; Hotel California. Lastly, there is Teri who is a total sweetheart and such a delightful hostess. I loved her energy and attention to detail. I especially appreciated the extended loving and caring attentiveness Teri gave to my elderly mother. We left the Desert Riviera with long lasting memories, extremely content and relaxed. I'm eagerly looking forward to booking our next stay. read more
