I ordered an eel and avocado roll, chicken and steak teriyaki entree with miso soup. I get my food and I only had an avocado roll not what I ordered. definitely not the same experience I have had in the past. It's like boiled meat that is partially seared then light splashed with a watery teriyaki. I normally get brown rice, this time I didn't, the regular hibachi rice is clumpy and almost not cooked right (most likely cooked while rice was still hot, which if you know how to cook fried rice correctly, you don't cook with hot rice.) let's just say that the best thing about my meal in a whole was the miso soup. Usually this is my go-to spot but I've noticed a decline in customer service which will cause me to no longer frequent one of my personal faves !!! I ordered in the drive thru and was told to wait in the front for my food. After 20 mins I called to check on the status of my food and was told that it would be right out..... 15 mins later and it wasn't. So then I go inside and have to wait another 10 mins waiting for someone to come to the register. When I finally was able to speak to someone she acted confused and said she made the order. First time being here at Hibachi Express. Got a nice warm welcome from a lady at the cash register. They weren't really busy at all and I got to have my dinner in less than 10 minutes. Food was very delicious but pretty greasy too. Got me full and I still had the other half of my meal to go. Also pretty cheap! Really enjoyed my chicken hibachi with the yum yum sauce. I'm confused at all the great reviews. Maybe when I went they were out of stuff? First of all it was the worst hibachi I have ever had, and I threw away everything except for the rice. It was really disappointing. The steak wasn't even steak, I'm not sure what it was but it was rubbery and tasted like those beef jerky bites soaked in trash juice. I'm not one to leave a bad review but I was really disappointed. The yum yum sauce tasted like the gross kind you can buy at the grocery store. Not homemade like other places . I spent over $30 on 2 tiny tiny bowls. This is the WORST Asian food I have ever had in my entire life. For one they took 30mins just to make 2 hand size bowls. The vegetables are extremely soggy and the "fried rice" is not fried rice. The worse part was the actual meat. If you told me the meat was actually pieces of a tire, I'd believe it. The chicken and steak and straight up RUBBER!!! They freaking boil their meat. To top it all off the owner wanted to give me a hard time about getting a refund. Food was good wasn't the best but good. You can tell the food was precooked i ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi with a shrimp tempura roll. The steak was chewy and the shrimp tempura was good it looked fresh. The shrimp tempura was covered in sauce wasn't really able to taste the sushi well enough to see if it was frozen food. So we ordered the salmon bowl, rainbow roll, dragon roll, chicken and shrimp hibachi and crab rangoons. First off the salmon tasted a bit sour. Like it was spoiled. The sushi was bland. A little too much rice but I can get over that. Their spicy Mayo is very mild so I mixed in more sriracha. The chicken and shrimp hibachi was good and the Rangoon's are definitely loaded up. There is a new Hibachi place in town, and it very well may be the best yet. They just opened this week, but they've got their stuff together. I've been twice now and have had a pretty good sampling of the hibachi chicken, steak, and shrimp. I've also tried their gyoza, salad, and California rolls. Everything was delicious. I just finished eating the steak and shrimp hibachi, which runs about $11. For that you get what seemed like a whole steak worth of beef with zero fatty bits. The steak was cut into large pieces and had wonderful flavor. The shrimp were also cooked well and were probably around the 30 count size and devained. The fried rice that comes with the meal is better than most. It actually has a flavor other than grease! You could really taste the soy and ginger. The rice at these places is usually something I only take a bite or two of, but I find myself finishing this stuff off and taking home what I can't eat for later. Vegetables also come with a hibachi plate and they too were cooked very well. I also like that there is some variety. You get onion, zucchini, broccoli, and mushrooms with the plate. The gyoza was well prepared with a fresh dipping sauce and the salads have that delicious orange sesame dressing that I could practically drink. It tastes house made as well. They also serve their food in lidded containers which makes it very easy to take home. Their menu options are also more interesting than the other hibachi places and they offer bento boxes. Oh, and the best part, they have a drive through!!!! This place is less than a mile from my house, and I can see myself becoming a regular. On top of it all, it seems to be a family business, which makes me even more inclined to give them my support. They are in the same location as the Fried Turkey Shop in Hope Mills. read more
