Service was non existent. My water didn't even get refilled once. I ordered a sake, but had to ask three times before it was brought. I ordered the hibachi steak and chicken, the chicken was ok but my steak was close to well done even though I ordered medium rare. The food was pretty bland in general. The soup was good, but I'm 99% I found a gnat in it so I bailed at the end. Prices seemed a little high. The sushi did look good and fresh. Just walking through the front door of this establishment is a real treat. Classy and formal without being overdone...hard to believe it had once been the old Radio Shack. The staff is friendly and eager to serve. The food..ohhhh the food...who would've ever thought we'd get such a fine selection of fresh sushi right here in Ponca City. I did not expect to find a sushi place this good in a small town! Sakura offers everything you can imagine sushi-wise, along with hibachi grill items as well. I didn't notice grills at any of the tables however. I'm strictly a sushi roll girl, so I didn't experience the hibachi, but I was really pleased with my dynamite roll. That with edamame was plenty to fill me up, but their normal rolls (as opposed to the special rolls) are all very reasonably priced at $5/each. You'd surely want to order at least two of those. We had great service and I was pleased with how nicely decorated and clean the restaurant looked and felt. I hope they continue to do well and offer something that maybe people who live here don't get a chance to try on a regular basis. read more

Not really a sushi guy, but it's pretty good here. The hibachi is good, but even better if you tell them to spice up the rice a little bit. Actually, that's the whole reason for this review. That damn fried rice, with whatever hot sauce they used, was the best fried rice I've ever had. It's a small thing, fried rice, but it's so damned good that I ordered a second plate of it just to take home. Food comes hot and fast. Only downfall, if you could even call it that, is the language barrier with the wait staff. They don't speak very good english. BUT...our orders have been correct the couple times I've been in so far, so perhaps it's not a big deal. They do, however, have some young punk playing host at the front desk that has a crappy attitude. If I'm coming to your restaurant to spend 20-40 bucks on rice and chicken, with 3 friends all looking to do the same, don't act like such an ass when we (4 grown men) request a table, and not a tight booth. My friends who eat here like the food and atmosphere. I'm allergic to shellfish and morning afraid to try it. I do hear good things, though.

Well, we tried 3 times to get napkins, it did not happen. 3 people and 2 napkins, I did not think it would be a problem, but it was. Next the items we had were very bland. Do they not use salt or spices in sushi? If not then it was prepared properly. Just not to my liking at all. The miso soup was just not to my liking, so that is just me. Now when you have tempura chicken and shrimp and the only way to tell them apart is the tail on the shrimp I know that is wrong. The fried rice was bland, my wife took hers home and it is siting in the box in a puddle of oil, not good. The tempura veggies were good, but no salt at all makes for an odd flavor. The lighting in the place is so dark I could not see the menu, that is just to much. Some of the things my Daughter got she liked just fine, but most of our food was not to our liking. Asking the lady waiting on us did nothing, not sure if she just ignored us or the language is that big of a problem. As to myself, one trip was all I needed, I tried the place and did not like it, I wont be back. read more

Hubby and I had the dinner bento boxes, hot saki, and hot tea. We will be back. The food was plentiful and excellent, good value for the price. I would have given 5 stars if not for the minor flaw. The miso soup was on the weak side and tea came lukewarm and had to be reheated. Except for that, we rated it excellent. It was actually too much food and wish the lunch bento box could be available for dinner. The staff was the genuine article with heavy Japanese accents, which lends credibility to the food. They were also super friendly. We are keeping this on our list of great places to eat! read more

Soooooo this four would be a 2.5 if I was in any major city or on either coast. My expectations were really low coming in here. The definitely exceeded those but I would not make this a regular stop. Yes, I am a snob when it comes to sushi and no I don't give a shit what you think. The atmosphere was nice and the noddle dishes were pretty decent. as for sushi places go this place is very good and professional. it is pricey but what sushi place isn't.
