I contacted Sal about doing a pretty substantial cleanup of our whole yard. He came out to talk about the work I wanted done and provided an estimate. Today he finished everything we discussed and I was very impressed with all of it. He took care of so many details and made our place look just great. Included debris cleanup, weed removal, tree & lawn trimming, clearing up some bushes that were overgrown, tree removal, and pruning. Sal was awesome! Our sprinklers weren't operating and one of the pipes was leaking. Sal came, took one look at the irrigation control and found that it was a wire that was connecting to the wrong spot (our previous contractor wired it wrong!) With the leak, he correctly diagnosed that it was the tree root that broke the pipe (trees were shaking hard during the rainstorms in winter). He fixed that nicely. While he was here he also gave us some tips on irrigation and answered our landscaping questions. His rate was also very reasonable! We will definitely hire him again for future work read more

I had three quotes for gardening services and chose Sal even though he wasn't the cheapest. He was more thorough with what needed to be addressed. This neglected rental home had a huge branch fall on a gazebo, multiple small tree's and a bush growing up against or too close to the home, overgrown weeds plus bushes, and weeds grown into rocks (ground cover). Both front and back needed lots of work. Rose bushes had weeds grown into them. Sal made an effort to do the work ASAP before the new tenant moved in and did a great job. My husband and I moved into a new home and reached out to Sal's Gardening Service for initial help with getting our lawn and plants into shape. Sal was great - responded promptly, arrived at scheduled time, charged a reasonable rate, and did a thorough and great job. Sal does good work. However, he is extremely unreliable and unresponsive. He started performing weekly yard and garden maintenance for me and my neighbor and we were one of his early customers as he established his business. At first service was very good and he came regularly and did excellent work. However as time progressed he started missing weeks at a time with no communication whatsoever. I would repeatedly call/message him and he would say he is coming on a certain day and then not show up at all with no communication again. I was patient with him as i really liked his service. However, the pattern continued and now it has been 3 weeks and my yard and garden looks terrible. I messaged him a few days ago and here was his response: "I will be there soon as I'm done here. Down the street from ur place. Where your place is I will be there 3-4 hrs. So was just trying to finish this here first." Then, guess what? No show again with no communication again!! Now i have start all over and find someone else more reliable and get my yard back in shape. I would rather have reliable consistent service. read more

This guys is legit and found someone to do my weekly yard work. He worked in 100+ degree weather and I felt terribly but he didn't complain once and did an amazing job. Sal's service was overall a great experience! I had sent a price quote to 4 gardening/landscaping businesses via yelp. I had 3 responses and Sal was the most responsive with pricing and availability. He was able to get out to my small condo within the week that I had requested and was able to clean up my messy patio. He also had offered a few suggestions on fixing our rain gutter and other preventatives from clogging. He also recommended ways to maintain our overgrown tree that has been blocking out sunlight into our living room. I first called Sal up to get a quote to install a small vineyard in our backyard and instead hired him to create a 48' x 4' garden box instead. He is beyond knowledgeable of the plants in my yard, how to manage them, what my current gardener could be doing better, and overall knows his stuff that I seriously considered hiring him (and still may..) for my weekly service. I don't usually write bad reviews but I feel obligated to write this one in order to warn people of this service. I hired Sal to run a 25 foot irrigation line at a home in Martinez. At first Sal was easy to get a hold of and his prices were reasonable, so I hired him to run the line. This is when things started to go bad. It was nothing major at first. Just a little hard to nail him down and get the job started. He finally did show up and worked for a few hours. At the end of the day he wanted to be paid. I was a little uncomfortable with paying him since the job was not done. There were a few more hours of work to do for the job to be done. I finally agreed to pay Sal for the work he had done with the agreement that he would complete the job within the next 2 days. Well, it has been 2 days and I can't get Sal to return any messages. He basically lied to me and is now avoiding me. He took the money and disappeared. I would be very cautious about doing business with this company. He is unreliable and is a terrible communicator. At this point I need to hire another company to come and do the whole job. If you are going to use this business and you want to actually get things done then I would recommend you keep looking. My experience is that you just lose time and money with this company and nothing gets done. read more

My elderly mom lives in the Bay Area and I live in LA , so when she found a leaking sprinkler valve on a Saturday I did not know if I would be able to find someone to help her. Sal performed well working alone as my weekly gardener. I then hired him for an additional $600.00 to do a total cleanup on the property. He accomplished approximately 50% of the work and then he left the job site, leaving his cousin, a completely incompetent gardener, who cut down and pulled out all of the wrong plants, leaving ugly, bare areas! Thereafter, Sal demanded an additional $420.00 to finish the job. He disputed the original quote and insisted that he required more money. As an alternative, he offered to wave the balance of his fee, telling me that I could use it to hire someone else to complete the task. I did so. He is a nice man who should write down his bids in detail. read more

While Sal does good work and is very knowledgeable, he turned out to be extremely unreliable. My experience is almost identical to Param... I hired Sal to do some landscaping and put in a drip system for it at the beginning of July. I was please enough with his work to hire him on for regular maintenance. After 3 weeks the drip system developed a major crack with water shooting out of the main connection. I contacted Sal about coming to fix it... after several text exchanges over the course of two weeks telling me he was coming, on his way, will be there in the morning... Nothing, no show (all my new landscaping had to be watered by hand). Needless to say it was an incredible disappointment. I ended up having to PAY someone else to fix the system and have now found a new decent gardener to do my monthly maintenance. I liked Sal, very personable... but personable does NOT get the job done. it's a buyer beware scenario sadly.. he lasted just a month. read more
