This was my first time visiting this location. The staff over the intercom was kind even though clarification of communication was a miss for me; I still appreciated the fact that the gal stayed happy in her tone. That meant a lot. As for the gal who exchanged payment- she was verbally short & didn't seem to want to hear anything I had to explain that it was my first time at their location and only 2nd time visiting the Salad & Go Franchise as a whole. As I began to apologize for trying to navigate the menu because it was dirty and difficult to see on my end - she stopped me and said, "I didn't take your order"... while she quickly closed the window. I patiently waited for my order in the drive-thru. As she gave me my bag she had a very bland and "now get out of my drive-thru line demeanor".. I thanked her even though she was short with me. She basically told me there was a survey on my receipt and quickly closed the drive-thru window once more time.. Upon arriving home - I opened the bag & noticed little to no salad. I ordered a Thai Salad & a Thai Wrap. Both were inadequate and appeared missing ingredients: "The Rest of The Salad".. I don't think I have ever experienced this going to Panera, Chipotle or any other restaurant that offers salads so to see how small and sad these were, left me knowing that I will definitely will never go to Salad & Go again. If you see the salad bowl and burrito - you too would wonder if this needs a class action suit. As what I understand- This IS NOT what was advertised... Can someone say industry gouging and false advertisement? I wonder how many times this has happened to other consumers. What a tragedy.. I want a 50% refund.. Judge for yourself: See Photos.

The decor is a bit dark, but chic & colorful. Our server, Esmerelda, was fantastic: funny, attentive, polite. There was a guy there who seemed to be the Jack of all trades. He brought us our food, I saw him behind the bar, and even bussing tables. He, too, was friendly & smiley. Cocktails: they had a great selection but we went with plain ol' Cokes. That's okay, we'll partake of their boozy drinks when we visit again. Food: parmesan truffle fries were aah-mazing. I even told Esmerelda they should add a pizza with the garlic aioli. The buffalo mozzarella had a bit of a kick to the sauce; we could have used more toasted bread to dip into it. We ordered the heaven and bianca pizzas. The crust was thinner than normal, which I was happy about, and the flavors of both were delicious. Dessert: despite not finishing the appetizers & pizza (no worries, we thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers!), we opted for a gelato flight. It was divine, and hefty samples. You wouldn't think 4 oz was much, but of gelato, it was plenty. We selected chocolate, strawberry, salted caramel, and mango. If you haven't tried Roma 23, I highly recommend it. Even if you don't live close by, it is worth the drive.

Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. We ordered and were asked if we were dining in or taking our food to go. We said dining in, but there were no open tables inside (around 12 total) and zero tables available outside. We ended up waiting in the back for a table to open while staff repeatedly walked around looking for our table number, never once asking if the order might be ours. After several minutes, someone finally asked if we were number 11. We were. Once seated, the decor was cute, but service was mediocre at best. The food was the biggest disappointment. It had been a while since we last visited, and it's definitely not the same. The rice was bland and flavorless, and the gyro meat tasted like frozen, reheated product -- very dry, with the main flavor being salt. Instead of the fresh-carved gyro meat you typically see on a vertical rotisserie at most Greek restaurants, the kitchen area was closed off, so there was no visible preparation or carving station. For nearly $50, the experience simply did not match the price. Between the disorganized service and underwhelming food, we won't be back. Next time, we'll stick to supporting East Valley Greek spots that offer better quality and value. I want to preface, this place used to be good. Not sure of ownership changed, but save yourself a trip and find something better and more affordable

There was a steady flow of customers, but not over crowded. Not too bad for a Super Bowl Sunday mid morning get together. I selected the Everything Smoked Salmon sandwich with a side of home fries. The presentation was colorful and inviting. Anytime you can see flavors, you know you're in for a fulfilling treat. I was asked if I would like the bread toasted and of course I affirmed that I did. It was a nice crunch in contrast to a heaping serving of beefy tomato and salmon. The home fries were a nice side dish choice and were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The tangy blackberry orange lemonade is always a top choice for beverage. All served in good time with a smile. Outdoor seating was plentiful for a great day like today when the weather is perfect.

We've spent a lot here over the years and have always supported and recommended this location. That's why my son's recent experience was so disappointing. He stopped in to get some work done, something he's done many times during slow hours. Sometimes he buys something, sometimes he doesn't, and it has never been an issue. This has always been a welcoming place. This time, a staff member told him he couldn't sit and work unless he purchased something. What made it worse was the explanation: a table of eight older gentlemen "didn't like" that he was sitting there working, and that was the reason he needed to leave or buy something. It wasn't busy, it wasn't about space, and it wasn't about a policy. It was simply another group of customers not liking his presence, and the staff acting on that. After years of loyalty, that was incredibly disappointing. If there's a new policy, that's fine, just communicate it clearly and apply it consistently. Asking a long‑time customer to leave because another table "didn't like" them is not acceptable. This experience genuinely made us rethink continuing to support this location.

We actually followed the owners here after frequenting their previous coffee shop, En Route. When they opened New Penny, supporting them was an easy decision. The café is thoughtfully divided into two distinct spaces: a family-friendly dining area and a lounge-style bar area geared more toward adults. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. There are house-made dishes, local merchandise, a shaded patio, and plenty of charm throughout. My wife's favorites are the Breakfast Totchos and the Acai Bowl. Personally, I am also a loyal Breakfast Totchos fan. As for drinks, the Copper Coin and the legendary Cowboy Latte are both worth ordering. What truly sets New Penny apart, however, is the people. The owners and staff have created a space that feels inclusive, welcoming, and genuinely connected to the community. Support local businesses. Better yet, support local businesses that are doing things the right way. Get to know the owners. Get to know the staff. Places like New Penny don't just serve food and coffee--they create gathering places. Whether you're meeting a friend, taking a business meeting, enjoying a date, or simply looking for a quiet place to sit by yourself, New Penny delivers. One of my favorite local businesses, and one that my family will continue to support.
