My bf and I happened upon this place while in NJ for an event and WHAT A FIND! I love it. The atmosphere is super chill and welcoming. The staff are lovely. There aren't too many customers inside because it is still a relatively new location. The food is very fresh. They have a multitude of options that cater for all dietary restrictions. There is ample free parking and spaces to sit. I think most people carry out but I think it would be a great place to sit and get some work done. I wish there were more locations like this around the MD area because I would for sure eat there. If I find myself in this area again, I will be sure to stop by.

Boonton, NJ - walking into Alhara, we were hit with an uncanny sense of déjà vu, and quickly…read morerealized it used to be the location of another favorite Middle Eastern eatery called Al Aqsa. Despite the surface similarity, it is a totally different restaurant with new owners. Alhara brings a regional focus on Syrian cuisine in a fast-casual format, featuring shawarma, falafel, build-your-own bowls, loaded fries, salads & soups, and dips and sides like labneh, hummus, and babaganoush. On paper, it sounds familiar and formulaic, but lemme tell ya, Alhara is anything but ordinary. Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food is everywhere in NJ & NY, with no shortage of pretty excellent options. I've eaten my way through a fair share of them, but found the quality and flavors at Alhara to be distinctive, exceptional, and a cut above. The homemade sauces are unlike I've had anywhere else, with unique taste profiles that are flavorful and complex. The garlic whip and babaganoush are out of this world, the falafel is just perfect (crunchy and fluffy in all the right places), the long grain rice is delicious and seasoned just so, and the shepherd salad holds its own. Nothing is bland or average. Be sure to try the pomegranate sauce - not homemade but an uncommon condiment that'll pleasure your palate with a sweet-tart zest. Being first-timers, we wanted to try everything and ordered a couple of bowls with all different kinds of toppings, sides and sauces. My bowl was so heaping with all the fixin's that the sauces had to be served on the side. You can order from a digital kiosque or at the counter. The owners (a lovely couple) were friendly and patient with our questions even as we stood over the kiosk for an eternity with decision paralysis over what to get. Alhara has been open for about 7-8 months. Boonton is full of good eats, and this is a welcomed addition to town and definitely a new favorite!

Alhara Schawarma was fantastic as soon as I walked in. Told the owner I'd never been before but had walked by numerous times, and he said let's change that. Had a beef/lamb schawarma sandwich with crispy Saj bread - thinner than a tortilla - fries and then drizzled with pomegranate sauce that breaks the savory and salty flavors in the sandwich. Delicious. Served with plastic gloves as the "pomegranate can make it messy", but probably wasn't needed but a nice touch nevertheless. Also had cup of lentil soup served with lemon, was very nice. The owner wanted me to try the chicken schawarma, so gave me a small cup. Delicious. My new favorite find in the Parsippany area.

The almond cornetto was perfectly sweet. Soft of the inside, crispy on the outside. The cornetto was big enough for two! The salted toffee latte was delicious as well, not too sweet and had the nutty after taste. Even though it was packed, we managed to get two seats by the windows, they had two fun games to play to keep them entertained! I can't wait to try a flight next time!

It's located on a street corner in a neighborhood section of Montville/Boonton. The building is covered in this beautiful old stone that adds a distinctive charm to the coffee shop. Inside the decor is really cozy and warm. I ordered a Pistachio Cream which was delicious and super creamy. Service was pretty quick and considering how busy it was when I stopped in. They offer some food options as well. Inside there is plenty of seating and there is some outdoor patio seating including one of those outdoor bubbles. Parking can be challenging when it's really packed. I recommend visiting if you're in the area!

They had lemon zest or lemon in the meatballs. At first I wasn't sure about them because they did not taste like your traditional meatball but it worked. While we all agreed the flavorful and well-executed food and cocktail programs remain worthy of five stars, the overall experience was just slightly disappointing compared to past visits due to some minor lapses in service. Our server completely forgot to bring the house bread and infused butter to the table. More disappointing was the lack of birthday recognition, especially compared to our previous visits and observing other tables around us receiving that recognition. Despite noting the occasion in our reservation, there was no special touch during the meal beyond a casual 'happy birthday' when we were first seated. It was hard not to notice other parties sitting nearby receiving complementary champagne and being serenaded by their servers over a birthday candle during the dessert course while our table was overlooked. My father-in-law was visibly disappointed to miss the opportunity to embarrass his first-born with that classic celebratory experience. It was a letdown because we've had stellar experiences here before, but this felt like an 'off' night for the front-of-house team. The food is absolutely still worth a visit, but I hope the service returns to the more attentive and celebratory level we've come to expect.

There's no restroom in the seating area (I'm sure they have one in the back) and the seating situation is super basic. I decided to eat in anyway, and the cashier very kindly brought me a paper plate with extra napkins. This drunk chicken sandwich (vodka sauce) was enormous; I knew right away that I'd have leftovers. The flavor was excellent. But I wish they wouldn't wrap the sandwich in foil like that. Not only does it look less appetizing, but I t really threatens to make the bread moist on the way to your house. Also I found the chicken a bit chewy. I will make a can of tuna and dump it over salad for tonight, and she took sub to heat in oven at home. The employee at the counter could tell we were not enjoying this lunch ($40 total) but did not seem to care. I will not be back. I have given this location 5 stars in the past.
