I had seen great reviews of Vitale's on Yelp and in Facebook groups so I've had this place bookmarked for some time. Today, I had the opportunity to stop in for lunch. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall on Rt 46 East in Parsippany. I've heard the chicken cutlet sandwiches were very good here, but I was in the mood for meatballs. The meatball sandwich was unbelievable! Loaded with meatballs on toasted bread with a delicious sauce, I loved it! There were so many meatballs, I had to eat some before I could eat the sandwich. The guy working behind the counter was very friendly. There were quite a few tables and it clearly looked like a lot of "regulars" here. I'm really glad I finally stopped here. OHHHHHH... I really really really enjoyed this!! My sandwich was absurd!! The bread and the meat was absolutely heavenly ( I'll post a picture later ). Decided to try this spot out for lunch when I was craving a sandwich. The setting is basic, actually totally different than what I expected. Lands somewhere between a sandwich spot and grandma's Italian eatery. I'm always excited, so maybe that was off-putting to the guy behind the middle of the room counter, but who cares- I ordered two of the most gigantic, delicious fresh tasting sandwiches- I've had in forever. It only took 11 years but we finally made it back! It's still incredible... This time, I went with the meatball parm and my husband had the chicken parm. The bread is toasted perfectly with a great crunch on the outside and soft and doughy inside. The sauce is wonderful and the meatballs were obviously homemade, probably using an old family recipe. The chicken parm was equally perfect... Lots of locals in the restaurant and one commented that they were hit hard by the pandemic. HUGE sub sandwiches, wraps, salads, homemade square pizza pies and outstanding Italian Inspired comfort dishes are just a few things that They specialize in here and I like the fact that I can get in and out with My order in a flash.   They also offer delivery service too only I've never had the need to use it but hey nowadays it's a good thing to know. Vitale's is located in the Parsipany Hills Shopping Plaza on Route 46 between Vail and Baldwin Road and parking is never an issue. My favorites are the chicken cutlet sandwiches which are always fresh and tasty. While chicken cutlets are my gonto, they have a great menu variety and you really can't go wrong no matter what you pick. A little bit of an odd choice for an Italian Deli, but I went with a Philly Cheesesteak for lunch today. Added a small bag of chips and a Snapple and just enjoyed my day off lunch. After ordering I realized I had been here once a really, really long time ago and I remember having a great sub. My cheesesteak with onions and mushrooms was very good...I mean, I'd still rather go to Philly for the ambiance and authentic feel/flavor, but this was a good sammich...as good a cheesesteak as I've had up in this area. The pasta salad was pretty good with the cucumber pieces, but I added a little salt. Portion size was more than enough...didn't need the chips. I met my former college roommate and friend of over 30 years at Vitale's for lunch. The fantastic time we had was due to the hospitality that we received from our server and the amazing subs from the kitchen. And, thankfully the owner alerted me to the fact I left my wallet at the counter. For lunch, I had the chicken cutlet sandwich with cheese, LTM. My friend had a turkey and provolone with L and Oil and vinegar. My only wish was a fountain soda over a bottled soda or iced tea. The half subs were huge! We only ate half. That says a lot! There was only one person/server and maybe that isn't the usual, but our orders were missing items and my son's ravioli came out after everyone else was finished eating. Very disappointed. my coworker and I got two whole sandwiches from here based on the yelp reviews and pics of other peoples sandwiches. they all showed a lot of meat on them. but when we received ours, it almost looked like they forgot to put the meat on at all. there's more mozarelly cheese than there is meat, they looked nothing like other reviewers. I know proscu is more expensive than Turkey, but when you pay over $45 for two sandwiches, you expect much more meat than what we got. My coworkers always rave about this deli and today was the day I finally got a chance to see what it was about. I walk in during lunch time to see a good amount of tables occupied. What else I saw was the huge plates of food the customers were eating out of. Without even trying it for myself, I knew it was going to be good. My coworker wanted to get the Italian sub and mentioned that she wanted to share it. Share??? I didnt want to share a sub.. I wanted one of my own for crying out loud. Heading to a wedding in jersey and was looking for a place to grab lunch on the way, so gave this spot a try based on Yelp reviews. -- We were not disappointed. Located in the corner of a strip mall - ambiance is not its strong suit, but if you want a hearty deli sandwich- this IS your spot. Portions are huge! The Quality of their ingredients was great. Store hours on the door say Monday - Wednesday 9:00am - 7:00pm. I was excited to try this place because it looked so good from previous reviews. The place looked very nice and clean from the outside, but the door was locked and they seemed to be closed. I even called and it rang and rang. No answer. Very disappointed. I don't get the hype!! Given that I work in the same town, I've had a handful of coworkers rave about Vitale's and claim how it's a must go to joint for lunch or dinnertime. A few of my coworkers and I went during our hour lunch and were left waiting close to 40 minutes for our paninis. We each order the same type of panini which was stuffed with prosciutto, red peppers, balsamic, and mozzarella cheese. Even though we waited 40 minutes and our bread looked like it had been pressed, the bread was so fluffy and not toasted/ crunchy that we had to send it back to be pressed one more time. The ratio of bread to meat inside the sandwich was largely disappointing. The bread was a weird focaccia that was spongy and did not work as a bread choice for a classic panini you expect to be pressed and toasted. The sandwich itself was served along side pasta salad which was al dente but pretty bland (it tasted like it was just tossed in olive oil). I am open to giving this place another try but I will be not be stopping in for short lunch or ordering another panini.. read more

Stepped in with a coworker and we both ordered the pastrami panini (it was one of the specials of the day). The sandwich was HUGE. I somehow managed to finish half of the sandwich and took the other half back, which I'll probably end up having for lunch tomorrow. It is officially the end of my work day and I am still feeling pretty full. The staff was extremely friendly, especially the guy who rang us up at the cash register and brought us our food. It didn't take too long for the food to come out but the server apologized for the wait. I really liked the decor of the place. It sort of felt as if we were sitting at a cute cafe in Italy. Huge pressed sandwich on focaccia bread! We were driving through Parsippany and was craving for a caprese sandandwich and I'm so happy I bumped into this place. First of all, if you you're expecting a skinny pressed panini, that's not what you're going to get. The panini sits on this beautiful fluffy focaccia bread that was pressed. I had the G which included eggplant, Asiago cheese and roasted peppers. We asked for balsamic vinegar to be drizzled on, which completed the flavors. My boyfriend had the K which I believe included mozzarella and fresh mozzarella. The sandwich was good and it fulfilled its destiny. read more

Just had lunch with several friends at Vitale's and I think the attached pictures speak volumes. Vitale's is well known if the Parsippany area for their great food, large portions and welcoming hospitality. Today was no exception. I ordered the Sloppy Joe (Triple Decker, Russian, Slaw) and it was phenomenal. Delicious and large enough to feed three people (I had to take half home). The others in the group had either the Sliced Steak Caesar Salad Platter or the Chef Salad (Ham, Salami, Provolone). Again, enormous and delicious. Amazingly two of the guys actually finished theirs. Vitale's has a great menu filled with various Panini Sandwiches, Subs/Hoagies, Wraps, Chicken Sandwiches (Grilled or Cutlet), Hot Dishes, Sausage Sandwiches, Italian Style Hot Dogs or Sausage, Pasta (of course), Dinner Specials and their Square Homemade 18 inch (9 slices) Pizza Pies. Note: Vitale's hours are limited to Monday 9 am to 5 pm, Tues. and Wed. 9 am to 7 pm, Thur. - Sat. 9 am to 10 pm, and closed on Sundays. Summoning my favorite from Defontes in BK, I went with a roast beef, mozz, gravy and fried eggplant. It did not disappoint. Every element was perfect and cobined into a delicious mess of a sandwich. A great portion too as the half was big enough for myself and son to share. The pasta salad was good in a my mom used to make kind of way. My cuz got a turkey and roast beef with lettuce tomato. Vitale's food in general including the subs is excellent. I've been there many times for subs. You can order a 1/2 and still have 1/4 left for later. Very large portions and quality. A generous portion of freshly sliced steak, perfectly melted cheese and super-fresh bread make this cheesesteak truly one of the best in the area. Had a lot of the selections on this menu, and after finding out how great their cheesesteak is, I haven't chosen anything else. I only go for dinner here . . . Little known secret is they open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. They give the place a makeover for dinner to give a more upscale feel and offer a different menu. The food is excellent (one of the best) and given the number of options for good Italian food in northern NJ that is a strong statement. In addition to the regular menu they have specials every week. I had a pork chop in a fontina cheese breading stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella and served with a Marsala style sauce one night that was amazing. They has stuffed shells one night that was one if the best I have ever had. As for the regular menu, the lasagna is also among the best I have ever had. The seafood with linguine in a garlic butter sauce was also very good. I have yet to find a dish I did not like. For desert the pound cake with ice cream is excellent. Very simple but sooo good. Bring some extra help to eat it though as it is bigger than any normal person's appetite. Make sure to call ahead or make reservations. The place is small (10 to 12 tables maybe) so it occasionally not have a table available. read more
