Food was great. We came here on a Tuesday because they have a family meal for 6 people for $30…read more There was only 3 of us but it was a great deal and fed us for a few days. Mac and cheese was decent. Pulled pork was great. Service was quick. The family meal had 6 corn bread muffins, 1.5lbs of pulled pork, 6 buns, fries, and mac and cheese. Their house made pickles were very tasty as well.

And to add insult to injury, our bartender forgot to add the bitters till after my sip. Pro move. Classic lack of mixology training. Now comes the best part of our evening. Should have listened to the kind old man at the previous stop to avoid this rebranded failed establishment. Our food has arrived tucked neatly in aluminum foil packets. I ordered ribs, kielbasa, Mac & cheese, and baked beans. My wife had brisket, Mac & cheese, and Brussel sprouts. Why did everything come in aluminum foil pouches. We were just told that everything just came off the smoker. Clearly it had NOT. Both of our meals were sooooooooooooooo SALTY that there was not enough water in the restaurant to get back the loss of moisture in our bodies. If I was a hunter, I would have used our meals to bait deer. Perfect little pouches of salt licks. Yes! We brought to the staff's attention. They were kind to take our meals off our bill and give us a gift card to use on our next visit. That was kind of them. But, the gift card has no use, because it has NO monetary value. It's just blank, nothing was loaded on it. The QR code just takes you to calling the restaurant. Classic marketing move. Back to our SALTY meals. They were so salty that I had to pull over to some random home and use their garden hose to get water. Burned my mouth from the hot hose water. I even feel bad for the late evening Trash Pandas. Maybe that's why we saw so many of them dead along the road. They died from dehydration from all of the salty scraps from the restaurant. I was so hopeful. We thought that after the rebrand from being Big Boiler Brewing and its failures they would have learned. Our advice, listen to your elders and NEVER go to the Hop Hog. Drive by. Keep going. Arby's is a little further down the road. They have the "MEATS".

This is a huge turn off for us and I'm not sure we would return anytime soon. Our daughter is one and the thought of a restaurant not having a high chair to offer us never even crossed my mind. This is super disappointing:(

The atmosphere here is simplicity meets bbq. This place feels like it's in the middle of nowhere…read more Inside there's 6 tables that could be expanded to 8 tables. So it's a relatively small space. You go up the the counter and order, then they bring it out to you. I ordered the 4 Meat Combo #2 ($25). This comes with Pulled Pork, 2 Chicken Thighs, 3 Rib bones, a smoked Jalapeno Cheddar Bratwurst, and 2 sides. The Pulled Pork was excellent, it was tender and delicious. The Ribs were outstanding. Some of the best ribs I've had and the best thing I had today. The spices on it are perfect as is the char. They are very tender and definitely fall off the bone. The chicken Thighs are tasty and again perfectly spiced, definitely would get again. I wasn't sure about the bratwurst at first, I liked it, but the more I ate the more I loved it. The 2 sides I got was baked beans and shredded cheesy potatoes with smoked ham. The baked beans were very good, with a surprise heat to them. Nothing burning, just a hello. They also got better the more you ate. The shredded potatoes were $2 extra, but were very good and I do recommend them. I also got an extra side of 3 small cornbreads for $1.50. Very tasty and not dry at all, which is the failure of so many cornbreads. They have cans and 2 liters of pop and bottled water for drinks. The person I was with ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich ($7). It was devoured, so that says something. She also got a side of Coleslaw ($3). It was declared to be very good. Everything was fairly priced and very generous portions. Also the house bbq sauce is very good. The service you get was good and friendly. Overall an easy 5 star Review! Would I return? Absolutely! I will be back, and I highly recommend a visit if you like bbq. You'll be just as surprised as I was that there's such good bbq in the middle of nowhere.

Unfortunately, the service did not live up to the hype. I paid for smoking, flavoring, and individual vacuum sealing in small packages. What I received was a disorganized mess. None of the packages were labeled, and everything was tossed into a box with two loose labels floating around--we had no idea which flavor was which. Several packages were leaking, and many were poorly sealed with air inside. That completely defeats the purpose of vacuum sealing, which is meant to preserve the fish. Before writing this review, I contacted the business. I was told to "just eat the poorly sealed ones first." Really? We paid extra for vacuum sealing to avoid having to rush through the fish. I was also reminded that the seals aren't guaranteed, which I understand--but they should at least be sealed properly when I pick them up. They sell meat in their store, and I guarantee they wouldn't sell anything in the condition they gave me. I love supporting local businesses, but as customers, we also have to be mindful of where we spend our money. This wasn't a cheap service, and the lack of care and follow-through and customer service was incredibly disappointing.

Banging bbq in Grand Rapids! A super find thanks to the reviews on Yelp…read more After a week on the shoreline of Lake Michigan, I was hankering for something good. I needed to stop with my family before we headed to the airport. I spotted this one on the map when searching for highly rated restaurants, and thanks to their handy-dandy online ordering system. I knew that we could plot a course get there eat our food and be on our way. No time to make our flights later this afternoon. I don't think any of us knew how delicious this meal was gonna be, but we were all glad that this was the stuff we chose to make. The smoked chicken wings were immaculate and the brisket was perfection. We also of course had rib tips and a whole slew of sides, including the smoked mushrooms and coleslaw and Housemade, tater tots, mac & cheese, baked beans and probably a few others I'm forgetting. We couldn't pick a favorite literally everything. Was that good And the sauces? Yeah, those are banging and beyond creative too. That green sauce was straight fire, and that Alabama weight style also nice for cooling things off. But if all of them were fantastic, and it was fun to make a match and find your favorite combo as we demolished the entirety of the order. Which is funny because when we placed it, we were kind of thinking this sounds like a lot of food and we didn't want any leftovers, but there were no leftovers to account for not because we ordered and forced ourselves because it was that good and we needed every bite available. Make the trip!

I ordered the Sloppy Scott and got a sandwich with incredibly flavorful and tender brisket ends, coleslaw with a lot of crunch, and pimento Mac and cheese that was incredibly creamy and delicious.
