I really like this place and usually have a pleasant experience, however upon my last visit with a friend it turned out very disappointing. First, all of the ingredients had other ingredients in them. For example broccoli had tomatoes in them. Pieces of chicken were mixed in with items. I'm vegan and will get extremely sick if I eat animal products. My friend ordered a build your own salad, and wanted extra spinach. She was charged 79 cents for 3 leafs of spinach! I went with my brother to salad works. It was his first time at salad works and he was not impressed. We both found the customer service from the person making our salad to be lacking. He did not seem warm or inviting. Actually, he seemed alittle annoyed at our slight indecisiveness even though he had no one in line. Nothing bothers me more then people who have an arrogant attitude at the work place. My salad was good. The cashier was friendly, however I see room for improvement. Soup came with an unexpected upcharge (apparently there was a small sign on the counter saying the selection I chose costs more than the posted prices on their menu boards, which I didn't see), and then once I got home I found the container to only be 3/4 of the way full. I had wondered why she took my cup into the back room with the tin from the warmer, I figured it was because they were running out outfront and she was going to fill it from the reserve in the back, but I think they just did not want me to see that it was not a full portion. If they had told me they were running out, I would've made a different choice. I was also charged .79 for an extra topping, for getting pasta added to my salad. It's been a long time since I've been at a saladworks, but pasta & lettuce were always included as a base in the past. This just seems like really greedy business practices!! I just want to take the time to tell the staff here that they are really doing an amazing job. I know it's chaotic these days but today the 3 who were working really handled an evening rush well. Of course things got busy out of nowhere there's not much we as customers can do but to wait it out for pick ups. Appreciate that the tables have barriers if you do sit down but of course a few customers weren't wearing their masks on their way out which is frustrating for bystanders & the staff. We have been going to this Saladworks for quite awhile and the customer service has been a bit hit-or-miss-- for example, asked for my dressing on the side and the person proceeded to mix it in (and mix in way too much for my tastes)-- I mentioned this to the cashier who just shrugged as she rung up my order. I also echo what other reviewers have stated that this restaurant doesn't do a very good job of keeping the various toppings separate. This is particularly a problem for those of us who have certain food allergies. Within the past couple of weeks, this store has changed how many loyalty points it awards-- from the typical 8 points per dollar that you find at most Saladworks to just 2 points per dollar (without changing how many points it takes to earn a free item)! I even called into Saladworks the following Monday, assuming it was a mistake, but found out that this particular restaurant has made the decision to do this. We have now started going just a few miles north on 202 to the store at Shops at Dilworthtown-- much better experiences there all the way around! My first and last trip to Saladworks. I ordered my salad and honey mustard dressing on the side. When I got to the table, I tried the dressing and I did not like it at all. So I went back to the counter and asked if I could get another kind because I didn't care for it. The woman quickly snapped back "if you want another dressing it will be 99 cents". I explained that it was my first time here and did not know that I could not get another if I didn't like it. I am generally not too picky but the honey mustard dressing was very spicy like a sandwich spread not a salad dressing. She then scolds me saying that if I wanted to taste it I should have asked for a sample. I told her it was my first time there. As I stood there waiting to pay for another dressing, I asked her if she was the manager and she barked back yet again, "no, I am the owner!" I think my mouth hit the floor. I might expect this from a worker but the owner? I was shocked. I have worked for fine dining establishments in the past and policy was if a customer did not like their meal, yes, a whole meal, it was to be replaced. Period. As I stood there paying, I looked her straight in the face and thanked her making my first and last visit to her store memorable. I called Saladworks to complain, was told I could stop in and they would credit me. I asked if they could just look up my order so I didn't have to leave work to get the credit and was put on hold for 10 minutes. When the person came back they said they could credit me for the 2 sandwiches but were going to have to back out the entire order and then put the order through again. I then asked if they could just credit me for the entire order since I was now out 2 sandwiches for coworkers and time. I was put on hold another few minutes and told the best they could do was credit me for 2 sandwiches and 1 salad and give me a free salad when I came in next time. I'm glad they offered to credit my order but it would have been nice if they had seemed to care a little bit more about serving up not 1 but 2 sandwiches with moldy cheese on it. It's clean, the employees are friendly but I never imagined I would have to specifically ask for my dressing on the side of a salad to go. In addition, their salads are WAY OVERPRICED! They offered to make a new salad but I was short on time and honestly, hate to see a whole salad go to waste. Policy should be that "to go" salads automatically have dressing put on the side! I have eaten at this Saladworks several times and have mixed experiences. A few times I thought the ingredients were ok and the salad edible and satisfactory. There was a younger girl working there and making the salads at this time. She was very courteous and put good portions of ingredients into the salad. In addition, she placed on the dressing of my choice and did a very nice job turning the salad over several times in a mixing bowl as to cover the salad evenly with dressing. This is very important to me as I like the ingredients mixed up nicely. Other times I have eaten here and have had horrible experiences. There is this heavy set miserable girl that works there and she treats the customers like they are just a pain in her oversized butt. She starts by asking "what do you want?" She then impatiently grabs small portions of the things you ask for and throws them in the bowl. Then she takes the little bit of dressing and puts that in there and only turns the salad one time. So here I am with my tiny bowl of vegetables that are all segregated around the salad bowl and not mixed up good. The salad she makes is not even half the size the other girls make that work there. When paying that much for a salad the least they can do is give you a reasonable portion. Being rather angry about my experience I proceed to write them and tell them about this woman's inability to make a good salad and her bitchy attitude. Someone emails me an apologetic letter, ensures me that I will never get such a poor level of service again, and sends me a $10 gift card for my inconvenience. So, I figure that was nice of the saladworks folks to address the issue and make it right because they stated that they would address the poor service. So I go back to the saladworks two more times and get the same girl and the same crappy service and makes my dining experience quite miserable. So I will not bother to write saladworks anymore about their crappy staff. They can keep their gift cards and apologetic replies and shove it in their buckets of soup. They have officially lost good customers who will never return due to the ignorance and incompetence of their staff. My daughter and I returned to Saladworks after a long absence. We were looking for something healthy and "fast casual". I had forgotten that the restaurant had options other than salad and may try one some day. The service was prompt, the staff was fine, and the place was clean. We were a little disappointed for two reasons. First, the ingredients of the salad seemed to be heavy on the lettuce side, and they don't use the healthy varieties of lettuce. The salad was pretty good, I just wish there was more of it. Second, the salads are not very big for a pretty big price. The low price salads are around $9.40. The salad bowls are big but very shallow so you're getting less than it appears. We found that we were still hungry after finishing the meal, and we are not that big people. It looked like the best deal was the soup and salad. The salad was not that much smaller than normal and it came with a nice soup. That seems the only way to go for a value customer. I was very happy that calorie counts were prominently displayed. It influenced my decision, but with such small salads, it's easy to keep the calories down. read more

Today, I met a friend here for lunch. She chose this place and this was my first time. The atmosphere is upbeat with vivid colors. The menu is pretty extensive, which in my opinion, is a good thing! The service was fast! The woman behind the counter was eagerly waiting for us to place our orders. We told her that we needed some time to decide. She seemed to be in a big hurry to take our orders. No biggie I guess but it made feel a little uncomfortable. The salad bar is enormous with endless options. I chose the turkey BLT salad and a cup of Italian wedding soup. My friend chose the vegetable soup and Cobb salad. The cashier was also waiting at the register with impatient body language. It gave me a hurried, uneasy feel. I don't know---maybe they've had several complaints before on slow service? Just kinda struck me as odd...All in all, I would return regardless because everything was delicious. Ordered the Pick 2 combo and was given only a few spoonfuls of lettuce, carrots, cucumbers and broccoli, cheddar cheese and sunflower seeds and a small vegetarian veggie soup and was charged $8.79! Lettuce was wilted and cucumbers were in very small pieces as well as broccoli. Also ordered a water which was shown as Perrier brand but was given poland spring water instead! Ordered a Caprese panini was was the best part of my meal but the food was still cold and part of the tomato still had the core on it. Very dissatified with staff friendliness. I asked her what she did and how my $16 bill ended with $8.50 on my card and without looking at me she told me to check my receipts. I stepped back in line after doing so to ask her why she split it and why she charged my card do much. Horrible horrible customer service, those people who call themselves owners should be ashamed of themselves. They are inconsiderate and that business will fail if they continue to run it. In my one and last time there, I found that they are more concerned with making money then providing good customer service. My daughter, 8 months old, grabbed my soup and it spilled all over her., thankfully we got it off her and she was fine. When my mother told the owner, she handed her paper towels and a wet rag, so we could clean it up. Never did she once ask how my daughter was, never. Her husband came in and also never spoke to us nor offered assistance to help, just starred at us from the counter and talked about us to his wife. When we asked to have the soup replaced, the woman owner was appalled and unwillingly replaced it as I'm sure she was pinching her butt checks because money was lost in one cup.
