This shop lied and stole my money! I called and asked if they work on my type of vehicle (Mercedes). I explained I had an oil leak and check engine light on. Greg Stated that he does and told me to bring the vehicle in . Greg took in my vehicle and did the diagnostics ($89) After that he said I had to go get the engine steam cleaned (another $89) when they could have put die ($20) to see where the oil is leaking from. I knew this from the start but I wanted to trust in Greg When I returned the vehicle from getting steam he denied my vehicle repair. He stated, "my tech doesn't feel comfortable working on this vehicle". So he was very adamant that his tech "wasn't comfortable". I continued to talk to him and state that if you aren't comfortable working on these vehicles you could have told me and I wouldn't have had to pay $178 plus transportation time taking it to and from the shop so many times. After a few minutes of me explaining and Greg not caring I asked him " ok i'll take it to Mercedes but can I bring it back for the oil leak"? He kept on and on about how he'll take care of me when I come back and how he'll take the $89 out of the oil leak price. After Mercedes, I call back and Greg not only has he upped the price $300 but he's stating different hours for the job( Greg was the 2nd shop I paid for diagnostics at. So I knew where the oil leak was from). He stated 8 hours at the beginning of the phone call . I asked what his hourly rate is to confirm and he jumped the hours to 13 hours for the job. I asked him "I thought you said you were going to take care of me when I get back"? His last words were "it is what it is" and hung up on me. I own a Mercedes and I know repairs are going to be pricey. My intent was for him to correct a mistake he previously made. I spent $1200 at Mercedes and was willing to come back and fix the oil leak with Greg. 8 hours @ $90 per hr=$720 plus parts 13 hours @ $90 per hr= $1170 plus parts Greg please don't take people's money if you can't provide the service. I had to spend $178 dollars and 4 hours of my wife taking me to and from. All this and we and didn't even get a service done at your shop. read more

This is a great place to take your car and get it fixed by true hones and proffesional mechanics. I had taken my car to two different shops and they couldn't find out what was wrong it. I brought my car here and they fixed it within a few hours of labor and a couple of days for the part to be delivered. Greg's the man! I came in on a Saturday looking to get a quick smog. The parking lot was packed, so I didn't expect I would be in and out. Greg said he would make it happen today but I took it with a grain of salt. Long story short, my pickup was out of there within a half hour. So thankful that we found this place ! My husband and I heard our car making a crazy noise on our way to Yosemite. We were too far from the our home to go back or be towed so we yelped and found this garage. We are so lucky that this is an honest shop ! They diagnosed the problem within 30 minutes and did their best to have the part delivered and work done in the the next couple hours before they closed. The part ended up not working out but Natalie drove us to a car rental spot and Greg made sure the car was ready first thing the next business day morning. I read the negative post by another user and felt compelled to write my own. I too am a Mercedes owner- in fact, I have 2 of them. I have been taking my cars to Greg for a few years now once they were no longer under warranty and I have received impeccable service from Greg and his team. Moreover, unlike some shops, Greg only uses genuine Mercedes parts. Greg is honest and experienced. He typically charges much less than the dealership and I still get great service. His mechanics are helpful and respectful. I drive over an hour each way just to take my cars to Greg. If his mechanic "didn't feel comfortable" working on someone's car, it likely isn't because it's a Mercedes. Honest mechanics are hard come by- I found a gem! Greg is the best! read more

Greg and his TEAM are the best in town. My car and my schedule were not the easiest to work around. I had a major issue with my car that kept it in the shop for over a week with no daily fees. I wish I could give this shop no stars! Horrible, horrible experience. They charged us $90's for a diagnostic and told us our car had a short in a wire. We agreed on a price to fix it. When we got the car back they told us it wasn't a short and they replaced a sensor but still charged us the original price quoted. We started driving the car and the problem wasn't fixed, when we took it back in they told us they must have replaced the wrong sensor but they want to charge us more money to fix another sensor and hope that works. So we paid $90's for a "diagnostic" that didn't actually diagnose the problem and then wasted nearly $600 more dollars to fix something that wasn't broken. So we're out nearly $700's and still have a broken car. read more

My boyfriend has been a loyal customer of this place for about 15 years. Today he brought his 2010 challenger in to have the alternator replaced. When he dropped the challenger off it was in perfectly good condition, when he went back to pick it up the drivers side door had a decent sized dent in it. When we asked about it nobody seemed to know what happened. The owner Greg wasnt there when we picked up the vehicle, so I later called and questioned him. I have to say that this place truly excels at customer service. Natalie and Greg were really nice and accommodating. They even offered to shuttle me home while my truck was being worked on. The work was done quickly (even though I was a walk-in customer) and for a great price, too. I thought I had a power steering issue with my F-150 but Greg quickly determined that I had a bad alternator. This may sound a bit strange, but I have never been so happy to give a repair shop my money as I was today. Greg is a forthright guy and won't do you wrong. If HONESTY is one of your top priorities for a mechanic than go to Salida Auto Repair. Just received a call from Greg on my truck I thought needed a brake job, and he explained to me it wasn't necessary right now. I don't think I've ever received a phone call from a mechanic, informing me I would be spending less than I anticipated; plus he gave me a quick education on brakes and rotors. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I will never take my vehicles anywhere else again! My Jetta had been in and out of multiple repair shops until I started coming here. The service here is beyond compare, and prices are reasonable. Greg and his staff constantly go above and beyond. The most recent time my car was in, Greg personally picked up my car from my work down the road, and even took it across town for me to complete some services it needed done elsewhere, all so it could be done for me while I was at work. If that's not customer service, I don't know what is! I think the thing I like most, is that Greg is such a nice, HONEST guy. At other repair shops, they can always find lots wrong that "needs to be fixed"(at least with my car). Wonderful locally owned shop! I know absolutely nothing about cars and wanted my brakes checked. The owner Greg was so friendly, he checked them and told me that I only needed the back ones done, did my requested oil change, checked my tire pressure and adjusted it. Plus he gave me a discount for a coupon he was running and I didn't have and gave me a ride to and from my house so I didn't have to wait in the waiting room! He's now my permanent mechanic! Extremely happy with the service I received, car wouldn't start just got a new battery three months ago (somewhere else) so it was my assumption that something was wrong with the alternator which I relayed to the guy (who I'm assuming is the owner). So about three or four hourslater he called me to inform me I had a bad terminal to which he had already replaced and that the car was working perfectly. Brought my truck in for brake troubles; Alan had the guys do a brake check; pads and rotor were good, but I explained the pedal was spongy, so they rechecked and had to do diagnostic check. Came back so fast and they were able to physically check the dead sensor and replaced within great time. Didn't even charge for the diagnostic being it was done before it started. Saw a lot of returning happy customers, on first name bases and now am one. Owner Greg was running about with clipboard getting info from vehicles and explaining to customers issues so they "DIDN'T" have to spend time and money. Crazy! Greg is extremely honest and upfront everytime Ive ever dealt with them--much of the time to their loss of profit. He has had several things on my car(s) that he couldve had me fix but recommended that i monitor the situation and assured me my safety was not at risk. In other words, he looks out for the customer in all ways, safety, financially, and educationally. I couldnt imagine sending my cars anywhere else.
