I have been here numerous times to get some hair dye and both times there has been a girl who has been extremely helpful. This last time I visited, I wanted to change my red hair to a brown color. I knew I needed some things but this was my first time attempting to remove the red from my hair. The girl who worked there was so patient and extremely helpful. She explained everything to me and was even willing to write down all of the steps to make sure I'm successful in my hair color. Lucky I remember everything that she said and I was able to complete all of the steps. I am extremely grateful for this girl who went above and beyond to inform me of options and to help me out. I went in to just buy a leave in conditioner to help with the bad nightmare of going two weeks prior to the wrong stylist at a salon in Long Beach. She left the bleach way too long and left my hair with so much breakage. TERIANE was the person I needed in this moment in my life. She recommended products and advice to begin the journey to repair my hair and even how I could color grays at home without further damaging my hair. Something the salon stylist didn't even offer. I had to take the time to write this review. I just walked inside of Sally's and usually you will be greeted,well not today. I started looking for a product, which I couldn't find. I walked up front and asked, I was told,it was in the middle isle, to the left,but it's all scattered. Others were being helped by someone else. I even had someone walk past me,and never asked if I needed help or anything. I kept looking,until I decided to leave,and that's when the same person at the counter said bye!! One of the largest Sally Beauty Supply stores I've ever encountered... The employees here are no non-sense, but in a friendly way. Customers are constantly trickling in - at least when I first visited (7/22/18). I needed to exchange a pair of scissors that just literally were not "cutting it." I bought them at a different Sally's a couple of days prior. The ladies here made some swell recommendations and I took advantage of their $2.50 yearly membership as I know there are other products I will need from this chain that I won't/can't get at other walk-in stores. I've been going to Sally Beauty for years to buy hair color, not much else. I only go there because Beautiful Collection isn't sold at Target. It was an OK place to go, but the people working there now have a very unfriendly and strange vibe and I feel uncomfortable and u welcome there. They don't seem to want to be bothered or maybe they don't want "certain" people there. It wasn't always like that. It's sad because these are young people. They are not nice. I live in the Bixby Knoll area(where this store is located) but unfortunately I ONLY SHOP HERE WHEN necessary because of its poor costumer service. Every blue moon I try to give it another try because it's literally the next light from where I live. Example: they open at 9:00. I called them at 9:06am to ask if they take American Express.. I greeted their customers service rep with a "Hello and Good morning " (which she didn't even think to do)and followed it up with my question about them taking American Express Her answer " uh yeah" I tell her "well, ok I was just calling check, being that I wasn't sure .. her answer " ok" . Horrible customer service, that's all there is to it. I went in looking for one nail polish, a limited edition that went fast elsewhere. I looked in all the bins, talked to a few employees about my obsession. They laughed with me and commiserated about how fast the colors went. As I'm finishing my purchase and still sighing about my loss an employee comes up behing me and pulls the color I want out of a drawer. I'm all excited, could it be?! No. The employee says "Oh yeah, I wanted this for my sister." Puts it on hold and leaves me hanging. Poorly handled. It was like she was rubbing it in. I Won't be visiting that location again. Update 12/28/14 - They still have exceptionally horrible customer service. You call and ask if they have a product in stock and they just say "no sweetie sorry." They don't go look, ever! So I've been here a few times...and I usually go in my pajamas if you can imagine how that looks. Being a girl, beauty stuff excites me. I want to take my time and be comfortable. every time I get treated like a potential thief and I've observed a certain cashier that will stand in a certain space to watch mirrors for shoplifters and hover over you to make sure you don't snatch anything. now I understand she just wants to prevent theft but she could do it in a way less conspicuous manner. I've been to this Sally's a few times and let me tell you that all the times I've been here the employees make me feel uncomfortable. I like to look around, take my time, and read all about the products they have, and the employees hover over you and watch you like if you're a thief. I get that there's some people that do go in there to steal, but geesh not everyone is in there for that reason. They make it really uncomfortable to shop here. Wow! So Sally's everywhere needs to really step up there game and only hire employees that know the basics at the very least! Omg such unfriendly, sour and unknowledgeable people aren't usually employed... well I went to purchase my ion hair dye and I see that there is a new male employee working the cashier. A lady asked him something and he really couldn't answer the question, then another lady asked him about a hair conditioner and he didn't know what she was talking about, another employee said we don't sell that here, so I went over and told the lady I knew the product which they didn't have and told her she can use a couple of products that I recommended to her, so I took her to the product and explained to her how to apply it, now if your going to hire new employess train them. I've been hearing rave reviews about Sally's and figured I have to try it out. I must say I was a little disappointed with the make-up selection. This place only carry paladio, Sally brand make up, a lot of fake eyelashes. Brandy the cashier was nice when she rang us up, but there was another lady with blonde hair, that was their that didn't even help us out, she told us said she would be right with us, since she ranged up a customer. waited over 15 minutes until we realized that she was gone, I wasn't able to catch her name. since she wasn't wearing a name tag like the other employee there, I am going to file a complaint with corporate, what kind of staff provides customer service like that, just leave them hanging and doesn't say a word and to the other employee and just leaves.. I heard about the clearance sale online so I came in to see if I could find any cheap nail polish. Boy! Talk about rude service! I stood at the counter for at least ten minutes well within sight of 2 employees and was totally ignored. When a clerk finally came over I asked her for some price checks. This is my favorite Sally's by far! I've been to some pretty bad ones but this one is my go to. I'm greeted nicely when I walk in the door, the isles are clean, well organized and spaced out nicely so there's plenty of room. I love the products, there is always a good deal going on in bleach, or conditioners. You even save more with a Beauty Members card. The cashiers are friendly, and seem experienced with the different products. By far a much better experience than the one in Sepulveda. read more
