I hope upper management sees this because the manager at this store on 8/7 at around 5pm was extremely rude. My shopping experience was pretty normal. Upon checking out i told the cashier that the address on my account is wrong (something i have had them fix in-store in the past but it keeps reverting). The cashier asked her manager to help, but the manager did not even wait to hear the situation before jumping in and saying that she cannot change the address in store per policy. I then said that we can drop the conversation since they cannot help me. After the manager walked away she continued to yell across the store about how she cannot help me but wants to answer my questions. I told her that i had no questions for her. She was having a bad day or something but she could not drop the topic. My cashier was nice and polite til the end, but i feel bad for the staff if they have to work under someone so wrapped up in her own world she cant even respect a customer asking her to not help. Hmmmm should have read/followed the reviews. I just didn't think it would be such a frustrating experience to get some nail supplies at a beauty supply store! I went in for silk wraps. I know it's not that popular anymore but I've always been able to find them at Sally's...well not at this one. I asked the guy who was helping some other customers he said he didn't know if they had them but I was in the right aisle if they did. Umm the store has 3 aisles! Can't really get lost :-/ I then said forget the silk wraps but I needed some files and acetone. I have a thin layer of acrylic over my natural nails for strength. Normally I use pure acetone to remove the layer. This guy recommended I use acetone. I said I'm removing acrylic. He said yes use this it's more gentle. Why did I listen to him?! It took HOURS to remove!! I had to go buy some pure acetone at a different store. I don't know what the return policy is, but I will sure find out and return the unamused portion as it was NOT what I needed! I actually came in for a specific hair product and was suggested to purchase something different & had disappointing results. Once in a while I come here for nail polish. Last time I was here, I came to buy an electric file/grooming for nails. I clearly asked the girl at the counter to give me one that was not battery operated and she handed me a box that she stated was one of the best. I asked if I could open it since there was not much information on the box regarding the electic/battery component. She informed me that she knew it was electric and that she's not allowed to open it. When I arrived home, I opened and it was battery operated. Very disappointed and had to go back to exchange. Went back to the store same day and there was another woman working at the counter who was more knowledgeable and did the exchange without any hassle. Not crazy about the fact that some of the staff are not knowledgeable about the items they sell but they have a great return policy and carry a huge variety of beauty supplies. I ordered five items before Christmas in which they all were part of a gift and I get an email the day I receive my shipment saying one item was canceled then was told I couldn't return my online order due to not accepting returns. I also didn't received an item in my order. I called customer support asked for a supervisor and was told that one could call me back. To this day I still have not received a call. I reactivated my yelp account to write this review. I have been a Sally's fan since I began dying my hair at 15. I have never really viewed Sally's as a high-end, superb shopping experience, but they have developer and the color selection I need at a price I can swing. This Sally's however, is the absolute most miserable place I have been. I would tell you the name of the associate who yelled at a queue of people today because she was "new" and couldn't figure out the computer system to ring someone out, but I don't. I do know a few things however. I know she has been there the last three times I have come in over the course of three months. I know she has red hair, in her 50's with black glasses, and I know she yelled multiple times that if we didn't want to wait for her to ring out that we could just leave and call corporate. She also said to me and other people that she couldn't help us because "This isn't my line of work, this is just a paycheck..." and, "I have only dyed my hair once and it is this color and it came outta a box. Thats about all I know." I had to help a girl and her mother choose the right developer for her hair. I am not a stylist but I know enough to tell someone with light hair that a 60 developer will fry her hair with that bleach kit. I am honestly CONFOUNDED at the stupidity, the useless and the nastiness of this employee. After yelling at us (the queue of 8 people) her co-worker came in off of her lunch to ring us up while the nasty one kept laughing like a maniac and saying "this is just a paycheck for me honey!" I am going back to find out her name, because she should not be collecting a paycheck for being a rude and totally useless representative of Sally's. read more

I was looking everywhere to find a specific type of bleach to cave and do the quarantine hair dying. I called this Sally's because they said it was open for curbside pickup and placed my order! I didn't catch the name of who helped me, but she was very sweet and the process was very easy. I then realized I needed one more thing, and when I called back I got somebody else who was also incredibly helpful! Both employees were so kind and really made placing an order so quick and easy! I don't come to Sally Beauty Supply unless I am in desperate need of something that I can't find at the Target, located across the street from Sally Beauty Supply. In the past 9 months, I've been here twice. Once to get specific shampoo because of my perm and today, to purchase hair nets. This specific review and 3 star rating is based on today's experience. My first experience was worse. The interior layout is very cramped. Where there is open space to place merchandise, you count on that something was there. However, even with a lot of product being merchandised, the product is very well maintained and merchandised well. Price labels are placed properly with every product sold and that is fantastic! It creates an easy buying process for customers. Merchandise is divided into functions (make up, hair dye, nail polish, wax... so on and so on). It is easy to navigate within the store. When I found what i was looking for, the hair nets, I was so confused by it. I was overwhelmed by how many different style hair nets exists and the didn't know what the differences were. I asked an associate and she was very understanding and attentive. She was so kind and spoke in a very friendly manner, as if she cared and it was nice to make that emotional connection with someone. She answered my questions and I was very appreciated by her help. Another associate was helping customers at the cash register so I took my time selecting, and browsing the store, and then I went to go and pay. As I was waiting to pay, the two associates were conversing between themselves the entire time. It was at least a 5 minute conversations if not more. What bothered me about what was being discussed between them was the subject matter they were discussing. They were speaking about internal issues Sally Beauty Supply employees have within one another. Yes! The spoke about that openly and not whispering, but in a high volume that the conversation could be heard from the back of the store to where the conversation was taking place, at the register! This my only complain about this place... I truly believe it could have been a conversation that needed to happen behind closed doors or not in front of customers. It was very uncomfortable. However, when I did pay, the lady who helped me was very nice as well. She had this great charm about herself and was full of energy. So that's all about today's experience, but here are some other discoveries I've found.... ! Buy hair clips or bobby pins here instead of other retail stores. They are cheaper and larger in quantity and I am sure better quality since it's at a beauty store. ! Large selection of combs and brushes for a great price. read more

There was definitely a time when I came here twice a week to get hair and nail stuff. What can I say, I love coming here! I do a lot of hair bleaching and coloring (hey, I wanted pink hair at the time, don't judge) and they have a very wide selection of products for hair coloring and care. I also come here for the China Glaze nail polishes, especially when they go on sale. Good selection. Customer service is okay. They might say hello and look a little sullen and bored, but honestly, that's fine. If you know what you're doing, then the shop staff is just there to get you your products and ring you up. read more

I saw a few reviews saying it was lacking but every single time I've come, I've been greeted with a smile, received really great tips/ advice about the product(s) I needed and if what I wanted wasn't in stock, I got great suggestions for substitutes or places where I could find it. A couple of the ladies here (like Violet) have lots of experience coloring their hair (I think one of the ladies has a license), so they can answer any questions you have about what products to use (like what strength developer and what shade would work best). So really great customer service, decent prices and easy-to-find location make this place my go-to beauty spot. read more

Okay i have a 30% coupon i wanted to use yesterday its technical difficulties 8:45 they are closed im sure thy closed way before that. They close at 9pm. Today icome and they are closed midday and wont be back at 6. Great thanks i got a class to go to u will be closed by thr time i get back. Stocks what you expect it to. Don't go here for high end products, Peninsula Beauty Supply over the road is your place. But for color products this is a good stop, sells cosmetologist grade bleaches, dyes and toners that helped me get to platinum. Also sells several purple shampoos to counteract the brassiness of blonde/platinum hair. The service leaves a little to be desired (I was standing with my products at the register, the assistant asked if I was ready to go and I said yes, then she continued with her shelf-stocking for a couple more minutes before giving in and helping me). im sorry i love this store, but the customer service at this mountain view store is HORRIBLE. i walked in, no one said hello or asked if i need help, which in fact i really did. i found the large bobby pins i needed, but needed help about certain items. and both their employees just walk right pass me not asking if i needed help, which you could assume i did since I've been standing in the same place for over 5 minutes. any who, as i was standing there looking at the same product, i can over hear the two associates just complain about customers. they said, " i hate when customers ask if we have anymore if this certain product, obviously we don't that is why its empty". Seriously, talk about this stuff on your break, not on the sales floor when their is a customer like me there. I didn't even want to buy what i was looking at anymore and just left. This place is amazing - it looks tiny but is surprisingly well stocked with a variety of items, and the employees are absolutely phenomenal. I'm not a beauty expert, so whenever I'm looking for something (a curling creme to tame frizz, or recommendations for a first-time hairy dye) I need a lot of help. The employees here are always so knowledgeable, have tons of recommendations, and are super patient with all my questions. As far as product goes, this is by far the worst place to go. You can get decent hair supplies such as flat irons, curling irons, and the likes, but not product. Maybe I'm just a name-brand junkie, well okay I am, but this was just sad. I mean, there was no Redken, Bumble and Bumble, Kerastase, or anything anywhere. The aisles were cramped, yet stocked high. I'm trying to acquire as many new skills as possible...and haircutting happens to be my latest venture. I ordered two shears from Sephora, but still needed combs, hair clips, and a cape. After going to two different Targets and finding all the hair clips sold out...I turned to Sally. And I got everything I need. So, now I get to clip, comb and cut hair in full force! Yay! I've slowly acquired love and respect for this store. I used to only go to this store once every 3-4 months to get a particular hair oil that (at least in this area) only they carry. The main thing that draws me to this place (and the reason it rates low for Aarika C. it seems) is that it doesn't necessarily carry the normal hair products but has more of a skew towards Black hair care products. Having recently permed (just in case you don't know, mini-Black hair lesson-perming for Black folks is straightening your hair, not giving it that curly fluffy poodle look) my hair after having it in braids for nearly 5 years, I needed to restock on certain essential items. All of those items, in wide variety, were right there at Sally's. I often have to go to several different stores to try and find the products I need. But with Sally's, one trip is all it takes. Yet there are a couple of other things that earns Sally's so many stars. As noted by deb n., the staff knows what's up when it comes to talking about their products. I received good advice about wrapping lotion and hair repair cremes. Something I found out about Sally's recently is that they will accept returns of products. If you try a product and you don't like it, you can return it (just be sure to have the receipt). I thought once you popped open the bottle, you were just S.O.L. if it happened to be a crappy product. Lastly, they do have a rather wide range of products and styling tools. They were the only place that had a hair dryer bonnet on hand. If you go to the website, you can see all of the products they offer and check with the store about them (which is how I found that they had the bonnet in the first place). Though I haven't checked this out, I'm sure that if you saw a product on the website, you could ask the store to order it if they didn't have it on hand. (One other bonus-they held the dryer for me when I called in and asked about it so that I wouldn't have to worry about it being sold off from under me while on the way to buy it). There are other things in Sally's besides hair care products, such as nail and waxing products, but I haven't really bought any of those (except for a red nail polish that perfectly matched my formal dress last year). Everytime i go there, i always have to go to another supply store because i never get my answer or find what i'm looking for. Also, one time i went there and waited one hour outside, in the middle of business hour and there was no one there. I seriously need to stop giving SBS all my monies. I can spend hours and hours in any Sally store, while picking up stuff that I don't really need. This specific SBS location is super cramped. I've never been in a store so little- as in not much walking space. Staff here is just ok. They don't greet you when you come in, and don't ask how you're doing or if you need any help while shopping around. I do like the fact that they have a little more of certain items in stock vs ones in san bruno or daly city. Maybe they don't get as much fans in the Silicon Valley? Anyways, I'm glad they have on here because it did make my lunch breaks awesome, but since I'm no longer going to be working near by soon- I don't think I'll come back here. read more
