L'Occitane was the first shop we saw after parking at the Stanford Shopping Center so we decided to check it out for fun! As soon as we entered, we were greeted by Deanne who told us to let her know if we have any questions. The store was nicely arranged and I loved how there were so many samples to try. We were looking at the eye creams and Deanne offered to test the caffeine eye cream on me which was really kind of her. My friend ended up buying a travel size hand cream and Deanne gave us a bunch of samples of the eye cream. Overall, the products are a little pricey but they are high-quality and make perfect gifts. I really like their lotions. This store also offers complimentary mini facials and free delivery on all items. Deanne was awesome!! She was super helpful and answered all our questions. I've been plagued with the curse of dry hands this past winter. A combination of cold, dry air and frequent hand washing/sanitizing has not been kind to my hands. I've tried hand creams after hand creams to no avail. Usually after about an hour or so, my skin would start to feel dry again. I'd heard L'Occitane is known for their hand creams from my mom who also has suffered from a lifetime of dry hands and she always swore by it. A few friends had also recommended the brand after I complained about my dry hands. When I walked into the store, the store associate was busy assisting another customer at the register so I wasn't greeted right away. To be honest, that doesn't bother me, she is one person after all. I will say though, that associate (whom I later learned her name is Akie) really knows how to take care of customers. After the other customer left, she greeted me and made sure I was okay. She was attentive, and was able to answer my questions. She pointed me to their 25% shea butter hand cream after I brought up my concerns, which I ended up purchasing. She encouraged me to try on the various products, and gave me time and room to navigate the rest of the store. Needless to say, I was very happy with my experience. Then I come home to find another pleasant surprise: samples! Akie was very generous with the amount and the variety of samples too! For that, I'm definitely coming back. If you get a chance to work with her at this store, I highly recommend it. I'm happy with my purchase and very satisfied with the customer service too. I'm glad I went with Akie's recommendation. Wow! Have you ever met anyone who actually won one of those drawings at a company? I haven't, but my sister happened upon a raffle for a Pamper Party while shopping at Stanford mall. It was AMAZING! We got to start the day before the store even opened. I started my session with a luxurious hand massage from Daniela. I used the almond body wash, and the Peony lotion. Then I had the best facial at a store I've ever gotten. Trina, who administered it really paid attention to my skin goals and concerns, and gave me a wonderful scrub, cleanse, and moisturizing. Both Trina and Daniela were patient, attentive, and told me so much about L'Occitane, that I left with a bag full of treats, and a new addiction that doesn't irritate my skin. Probably the biggest bonus was I finally found an all natural deodorant that ACTUALLY works! It's ridiculous! So these cute raffles do work. I went to a store that I never would have walked into on my own, and I fell in love with all the natural products in the store! Thank you for all of your hospitality and pampering. I start every morning off with my Peony hydrating spray, and it just puts me in the right frame of mind. And spend your money knowing that L'Occitane gives back to causes it supports. We were profiled by Ashely and her "manager" My husband purchased bath soap and oil a few days earlier and we came to exchange it for different bath soap due to the first one containing chemicals I am avoiding. we told the "manager" what's our plan is and she was hostile and accused me of watering it down though it was not opened. She was rude and said" I'm not returning this for you" even though I told her I want to exchange it. She proceeded to tell me the chemicals is only harmful if it's ingested. They were helping other clients and they were chitchatting for along regardless of me standing. They assured them they can exchange or return even if the item was used and if they are not happy. The only difference between me and that client was I was not there preferre" skin color type" and they treated me like a common thief. They didn't even try to deny it the sales person Ashley was the worst one she was gaslighting and mocking us and tried to get us angry. "The manager" hid in the back and they refused to give out their information or their manager's information. Ashley claimed she doesn't even know who she worked for and it's just a store. She keeps on repeating her self in a rude way still treating me as a thief. It was disgusting to be treated this way after I spent good money and I only wanted to exchange. I even show her how it's exactly the same by pulling out one of their bath soap from the shelf. She didn't give me the respect even to finish my sentence. They are racist people both of them. People who are minorities please be careful going to this exact store. I have been to many other stores and never seen this trash behavior. My husband and children have always enjoyed buying me gifts at L'Occitane. We will never shop here again. My experience this afternoon was woefully mismanaged and terribly upsetting. My husband bought me $200 worth of product for my birthday. I did not need the exact items he chose, nor the large quantity. I brought the products and a 14"-long receipt into the store five days after the initial purchase. I expected to do a smaller exchange, keeping a few things, and put the balance back on the Visa card. The clerk said that because I did not have a smaller, separate Visa receipt, she would not issue a return -- only a store credit. I phoned my husband. No, he assured me, he was not given anything other than the longer detailed receipt that I presented. The clerk would not budge. I sat on the couch in the store and dialed the 800 # for L'Occitane customer service. The customer service rep said that there was absolutely no reason that the store should not give a Visa return, given that I had a detailed receipt. I put him on the speakerphone and with the clerk, we looked at the documentation. This was a full printed register receipt that shows my last name, a customer number, a listing of all of the merchandise, time and date of purchase, store location, etc. It even had an electronic barcode. Clearly we had bought these items in this very store. In the end, he hedged by saying that the clerk could check with the manager first, but reiterated: we should get a full refund. I sat back down. The clerk seemed to go though some transaction records for the store and apparently found additional information that supported the return. The manager, thank goodness, happened to walk in at that moment and concurred that there was no reason not to issue the refund. She also said it was pretty clear that the individual who had initially helped my husband had failed to issue the smaller receipt as it was supposed to be stapled to the longer receipt. Clearly, nothing had been attached. It took the two of them another 15+ minutes to ring up the return. They simply could not figure out and/or manage the return. All told, I was in there for more than a half hour. That the clerk was so intractable, even in light of the feedback from the 800# agent, was exasperating. Lotion is a highly discretionary item. If you are paying $200 for it, the shopping experience had better be satisfactory. This was far from it. At this establishment, apparently, The Customer Is Always Wrong. And by the way: trying to keep someone's money only five short days after the purchase when they have a receipt in hand is akin to THIEVERY. I had hoped to exchange a few items so that I would emerge with a bday gift but was so fed-up that I returned the entire assortment. In the end, the clerk handed me the receipts and a handful of lotion samples. No, this does not make up for the mistake or the annoyance. I would rather use Jergens from the drugstore than come back here again. read more

Corner store across from Teavana, near Bloomingdales... the store is a little small and strangely shaped but customer service was very helpful when I visited. Quite a large amount of stock for a smaller store as well and plenty of parking close by. What stood out most for me, however, is that they have a pretty sink in the store where you can, not only wash any other product off that you may have tested, but you can try out their soaps and hand scrubs in order to do so. After you wash and dry your hands you can put on a little of their famous shea butter lotion as well. I thought this was a very creative set up for product testing. I often buy my products online (I'm a huge fan of their almond line of products) but if I'm in the area I wouldn't hesitate to stop in. read more

I am a fan of there hand lotion and I came here to look for my Secret Santa present too. I think they need to reorganized that store better. There is just way to many items and packages in this small store. I was overwhelmed on Saturday and with the number of gift pack items I was trying to look at, which was not easy. I only went here because my regular supply of the Revitalizing Shower Gel that I got from Harvest Inn in St. Helena was running low. I believe Double Tree Hotel carries their products too. I'm addicted to the mint smell. It's $3.00 for the 1.18 oz. I might go back and buy some of the men's cologne. The Badian has anise seed smell and the Vetyver has spicy aroma of vetyver wood with bergamot. I'm really getting to learn more about smelly stuff. My friends like to linger in my bedroom because it smells like tropical rainforest. I think it's a good sign when they don't want to leave ;). read more

i love the look, feel, and most importantly, SMELL, of this store. it always has a calming effect on me as soon as i enter. the staff is always very welcoming. periodically, they have special events where you can go and try their newest products or get a mini-facial. on my last visit, i got a mini-facial using the immortelle line of products. this line is made from the everlasting flower which feels and smells amazing. i decided to purchase the immortelle brightening shield, which is a face moisturiser with spf 40++ and so far, my face is loving it. it not only moisturises, but it protects me from the sun, which is especially important with summer fast-approaching. i also love their shea butter hand creams, which come in an array of different scents. they're also small enough to fit into a purse or pocket. as someone with very dry skin, these hand creams moisturise my hands and retain moisture even after several hand washes. my favourites would be the cherry blossom and original shea butter. i highly recommend their products as they are very effective and smell great! read more

This store is located closed by Bloomingdale's department store located at Stanford shopping center. It's right by the corner and right next to Papyrus the card store. I mean, the address already stated Stanford shopping center, so I believed you can find the store at the shopping center! It won't disappear unless they are out of business, which might not be possible lol... One of my female friend's birthday is coming up and I wasn't sure what to get her. Never really know what she likes and dislike when it comes to female items. Is it just me? Or it's just hard to pick out gifts for your female friends? I walked into the store without knowing what I want to get her, but the sales person helped me out. She recommended the most popular item in the store and some other on sales items that were popular. After the sales gave me her recommendations, I am still not sure so i walked around the store to see what other goods are also offered at this store.This is a really small store and they do not have that much selections. So I just picked out the items that were recommended and checked out. The sales was also kind enough to help me to place my items into a box and decorated the gift a bit. Which is quite pleasant in my opinion. Overall, I think they do have some nice items, but again I don't use their product so I cannot go into product details. Looking for L'Occitane? It's now over on the side of Stanford Shopping Center that houses Teavana and Pinkberry, in the spot previously occupied by Betsey Johnson. The staff is nice, and they were fairly well stocked. But this location now feels so small! It's fine, because I found what I wanted, but the store isn't laid out for traffic flow, so it's hard to move around if there are more than a couple other customers. If you're not familiar with this brand: the products are wonderful. In particular, I like the lavender line -- they use true Provence lavender and the scent is, therefore, genuine and not fake. If you love shea butter, know that they have a lot of products that contain this ingredient, too. The perfumes are a bit heavy for me, but YMMV. A decent shop -- especially if you love lavender! read more

Hoory for their NEW release of organic products. I'm an avid reader and contributor to makeupalley.com and this is by far the all around winner for facial lotion. This store may have amazingly effective products but I can't stand the perfumy old lady smells. Well now they've come out with their organic line and the facial lotion (in the pump bottle) is the BEST, even better than the rediculously expensive le mer le cher, la prairie smerie stuff. This stuff sinks into my sometimes oily sometimes dry skin all year round and leaves my cheeks as soft as a babie's butt for hours on end! It's the only moisturizer that I've used for day and night, summer and winter and have finished in less than a few months. I've got an entire vanity full of the other french/sephora brands that don't do better than Walgreen's. That awarding winner oil of olay is like grease compare to this light and non-perfumy lotion. And surprisingly enough, it still works after you use it for months..... read more

L'OCCITANE, How I love you...... I have been buying their brand for about 5 years now. My absolute favorite is their Verbena Shower Gel. It has a crisp, lemon scent. A clean scent, not a dominant perfume smell. It's more of a scent like if you walked out in a garden, and brushed against a plant, it's so natural. Very sudsy too. I also enjoy their Almond Shower Oil as well. It is so skin softening!! Also their Verbena Fresh Shampoo is Fabulous! It's always out of stock, but I was fortunate today they had some. If you have never experienced L'OCCITANE, try it once. You will thank me later. read more

Stay away from this place and these snobbish reps in the store if you can. They smile at you when you want to buy something BUT if you need to return something you bought online, they make up all kinds of rules/excuses that are not stated on the online site. In other words, they do not want to take back the products even if you are allergic to them!!! They do not care if the products are not good to you - not even exchange. The service is terrible. If you are not sure about any L'occitane products, buy them in Nordstrom. The service is superb at Nordstrom and return is not a problem even if you have opened the product and find out that they are not suitable for you. It is the attitude of these sales ladies at the store that is totally wrong - they care about their sales more than their customers' needs and benefits. Bottom line - stay away!!! read more

I love their olive oil line, especially their conditioning paste for hair, and their shea butter line beats anything you can find. The service is pretty good and they were really helpful in picking out holiday presents for people. Caution - their sale items include soon expiring outlet items but the deal doesn't disclose the fact and intentionally misleads consumers. I've been a loyal customer to L'Occitane's Immortelle product line. Last June, they had a sale including my favorite Brightening Moisture Creme from the line. So I bought three of them just to stock up for the future. Seemed too many I bought, so I brought one back to the store to return last week. The store refused to take it back and informed me that the item was an outlet item and actually close to expiration. (I was shocked to hear that and much more upset when the store lady said that she couldn't tell me when it would expire exactly -even though she knew it-) When I purchased them online during sale, the cream was priced $40 overwriting the regular price of $58. It didn't say it was outlet product or anything. It's the opposite. The way they overwritten the regular price using the regular product image totally misled consumers including me. Now, I call their customer service to find the way to return all of them (knowing they are soon expiring outlet products). What the lady over the phone says is that they are pretty much same stuff in the slight different package. If this French cosmetic company wants to fake us, their customer service dept better train their employees under the same policy so that they can come up with same lies. OR, their legal dept needs to be more thoughtful when they want to sell out outlet products misleading that they are regular products. read more

We came to purchase a promotional product which somehow was not displayed in this store, and the staff only showed us the product after we mentioned about the edm we received earlier today. The staff gave face when she found out that we wanted to buy the last one in store according to their company rules. (It's not like we buy them from her and not paying! Blame your company!) And the face when we have to ask for a bag for the multiple items we purchased. Next time I'll just do it online then. read more

I am different race than her, so this can be the discrimination. And any store I go, they say "That's all?" even though I buy several items. This is a rude expression, isn't it? On Valentine's day I went to Stanford shopping mall and purchased some cosmetic products at the Mac Store at Macy's then went to L'Occitane to purchase some Valentines gift for friends when I got home realized I didn't have the Mac bag with me so I've call the L'Occitane store and Ask them if they found my bag ,they say YES it was there so I told them I will pick it up whenever I go to Palo Alto they say was fine, when I came by to pick up my bag no one knew anything about it, they told me to call back and I did call many times but no luck, in another words some one decided to STILL my bag, It is so unfortunate the LACK of Honesty of this employee who did it. Hopefully the General manager of this company can see this review and advice this particular store personal to do a better job. read more
