Even though it was a 25 minute drive, I made appointment for today. Morgan greeted me very personably as I entered and after I showed her damage to frames, she took them and in less than 15 minutes brought them out to me as good as new. When I pulled out my wallet to pay, she said there was no charge. This visit exceeded my expectations. Plus, the business had a really cool vibe and very friendly opticians. Sally's is AWESOME! I have a pair of Salt frames that I absolutely love (bought elsewhere, but Sally's sells the same ones!), but the prescription in them was very outdated, which left them un-wearable. I was living in my contacts (and a crappy pair of backup glasses) which is never a good situation to be in. I brought the frame in to Sally's and they ordered new lenses for me; I was quoted 4 weeks, which is understandable due to supply chain delays these days, but the lenses arrived in just 2 weeks. I was still apprehensive because I've had issues with peripheral distortion in the past (I have a moderately high Rx), but I went in, tried on the glasses, and they were crystal clear! A few days later, I realized that the frame was feeling pretty tight, despite having worn it regularly in an attempt to stretch it a bit, so I called Sally's and scheduled an appointment (same day!) for an adjustment. The optician made several tweaks to the frame and made sure I was comfortable before sending me on my way. Everybody I've interacted with at Sally's has been ridiculously kind and accommodating. It's obvious that this shop is a Charlotte institution because it's been busy every time I've gone in, and seems to have a very loyal and discerning customer base. They only sell the best and are unapologetic about how much that costs (as they should be). Love, love, love this place! Why didn't I find it sooner?! I called ahead and told them the style of frame I was looking for. They made an appointment for me. Arrived to masked staff cleaning vigilantly after the appointment before mine. They already had a tray of frames and invited me to add to it. I apologized that I might be picky. They chuckled and said to try on as many pairs as I needed. Narrowed it down, and they were REALLY HELPFUL with the final decision. Their selection is fantastic and *quality.* I asked about clip-on sunglasses that flip up and they had just the thing! So, so happy w/ the entire process. I purchased a pair of frames (super high end) I thought I loved only to get home and be told by my better half they made me look cross-eyed. My eyes are definitely closer together. I tried them on for multiple people in the store and not one person mentioned this. When I reached out to see if I could exchange them for credit for a different pair, my email was ignored. Someone called me recently to come back in- two years later. I mentioned the issue and (pair is still a current high end style and have not been worn) and I was told they'd look into it. Not a word back weeks later. Not concierge service post purchase at all. Disappointing. The shop and team are all lovely other than this. After my experience with The View On Elm, I was sort of dreading trying to find a pair of really nice frames. I didn't want to drive to Charlotte from Greensboro, but I'm very picky about my glasses as I consider them both art and jewelry that is worn daily and shows very much about my quirky personality. So I booked an appointment, which was very easy to do online. I got there early, but it wasn't a problem. The doors weren't locked like The View. I could actually walk right in and try on any frame that I liked. Liz was great to work with. I told her what I was looking for and she went through the inventory, coming back with lots of frames that I really liked. In fact, it was very difficult to make a decision. I asked her if I could buy the frames and take them elsewhere to have the lenses put in. She said I could take them anywhere I wanted. I told her about my other experience and she said that refusing to sell just the frames made absolutely no sense. I told her that I did have another appointment in the afternoon to look at more frames as long as I was already in Charlotte. She said she completely understood that people needed to compare and offered to write down the names of the designers and the styles I liked. She started a file for me so in case I came back they would know just what I had looked at. She also said that if I decided later that she could mail the frames to me. I did go back later in the afternoon. I didn't have an appointment and they were really busy, but she took the time to work with me again as I battled over two designs. She let us take photos and send them to my husband, who was home, so he could chime in on how they looked. This is what customer service should be! Eventually I made the decision and now have a beautiful pair of luxury frames at a lower cost. I'm so glad that I made the trip. I like these folks and I haven't even done business with them yet; doing business in the sense that money exchanges hands. But we have done business in the sense of a professional interaction. Here's the story: One of the nose pads on the glasses I was wearing yesterday went missing and the metal piece it fit on was digging in to my nose. I was close to uptown and, after sending me on a wild goose chase, google finally developed some sense and suggested Sally's, It was just a few minutes away right off East Blvd. I called and the nicest gal, after a question or two said "Yes we can fix it while you wait. Come on in." No money was discussed. I arrived a few minutes later to find a nicely appointed shop that seemed to have plenty of inventory. A friendly, professional gent who already knew why I was there, greeted me, took the glasses, suggested I look around or have a seat and said he would be back in a few minutes. I chose to take a seat. Then, the woman who I had spoken with on the phone, comes out. We exchange some pleasantries and she offers me some water which I accept. Shortly, the fellow comes out. I try on my glasses and they fit just fine. When I ask "how much?" He says "no charge." and suggested that I remember them when I needed glasses or "write a yelp review." So here we are. This whole interaction, from the initial phone call to me walking out the door, was so friendly and professional that it made me feel good. Good about me, good about them and good about the place. I have been buying my glasses from Sally's ever since she opened...a looong time! I can't even count how many haha. I've also been through all the trends. She has an amazing eye for trends, classics and whatever you are looking for. The staff is knowledgable and honest! Very important...honesty! One time I wanted a pair of fushia round glasses and they told me "No, you're just liking them because they go with your outfit today. These might be better for you"...and proceeded to show me better choices. Recently I had to have a pair of sunglasses replaced that had been swiped into the water on a boat. Ryan and staff worked with me so well to try and order new ones for my next sailing trip not that far into the future. I have been a customer of Sally's for years but they are really struggling with COVID. Their factory is not meeting deadlines and not able to produce on a normal schedule. And Sally's can't stay on top of that or communicate that. The employees seem a little run down about this, now, too. In my appointment today, which is five weeks since the order, I went to receive two of my three pairs of glasses that I ordered. (The third will take even longer now, and not be ready for my vacation....) I was handed off to a person I do not know (even though I have been in three times with this order and have had at least five phone calls....) When she FINALLY fit me with the first pair of glasses, (which I had to point out were crooked), she said, "You are all set!" Um. I actually had to ask, "What about my other pair of glasses that are ready?" Her reply? "Oh, no one told me that you had another pair!" So much for high-touch services that Sally's claims to give. Sally's claims to only be taking appointments, but they are taking walk-ins and not making those people wait outside, which is why my appointment today was delayed. It's a bit of Keystone Kops in there. I need to find another high-end vendor. Certainly Sally's has competition now. (Frankly, their selection wasn't that great, either.) Came across this cute little shop accidentally. I was on a recent girls trip and my friend lost her sunglasses. She sadly, left a nice and expensive pair of glasses at a restaurant. Now in a crunch we called around to check on inventory. Initially, no one answered the phone but someone from Sally's called us right back to say come on in. My friend found a cute pair of designer glasses, I picked up a pair as well. The ladies were super helpful and polite. They showed us different styles and made helpful suggestions. I was bored with the same old glasses and looked to yelp to find somewhere to go for something different from someone really knowing their trade. Yelp said come to Sally's. Wow, was i impressed. Sally provides amazing service and makes you feel totally comfortable knowing she will take great care of you. The selection is terrific and unique. If you want conservative or edgy, she has you covered. I asked her to suggest something different for me and she brought 20 glasses to try. Some she put on my face and immediately took them off -- no those won't work. About 5 in she said "oh yes". And she was right. I mentioned I wanted a pair of prescription sun glasses too but did not want to spend a lot as i don't use them often. Voila, she found a great funky pair that is perfect. While this was going on my wife tried on a pair of sunglasses and asked what do you think of these? Fantastic!! You have to get them!! So one visit, 3 pair. That was Monday. I asked how long before i could pick them and she said give me a week to ten days. Excited, I went home to wait. Friday they called and said they are ready!! Yea!! Came to pick them up and as she adjusted them my wife bought a new pair of prescription glasses too -- now 4 pair! She is waiting for a new eye exam before getting hers but i can tell you i am thrilled with mine. Sally does not rush, checks everything twice, and tells you if it looks good as well as bad. As we left my wife said too bad she doesn't sell other things too. What a great shopping experience. And she was so right. To think how many times i have been to Len's Crafters or the like. Wow! One of the best shopping experiences of my life--anywhere. This place is incredible. They have a fantastic selection in both quantity and quality, but more than that, the two ladies who work here seriously know their stuff. They carry really nice, designer brands that big box places don't, so you can find something really special, whether you want classic or a little kooky. I didn't like the idea of someone helping me shop at first, because usually this means someone who doesn't get me at all follows me around and makes silly suggestions or just fills the air with empty conversation. Sally's was totally different, and if I could, this is the way I would shop for just about everything. Right away, the sales associate actually started helping me shop, and I mean really, truly helping. She sized me up, listened to what I like, and picked out a dozen frames in two seconds flat. She helped me narrow down the winners based on size, style, and the way they looked overall. They know their inventory inside and out, and really helped me find things I wouldn't have picked out myself. When we narrowed it down to two pairs, she had me take a mirror outside, which was such a great idea. I knew right away which ones I wanted to wear the most because the light outside was different and I got a new perspective of how they looked. Point is--Sally's is a true local shopping spot with an outstanding selection, beautifully curated products and brands, and an experience that made me feel good and gave me exactly what I wanted. People drive from all over to come here, and now I see why. PS--I expected the prices to be sky high because the frames are so edgy, chic, or just plain nice, but I feel that the prices were very fair. Uptown frame shops were much more expensive, but with bad or so-so customer service and less selection. I suggest you let the gals at Sally's guide you, then check out the cost, because you'll have a much better experience. Seriously. Since having a pair of glasses which will be on your face on daily basis. Therefore, it deserved to be the best part of your face, not "just" eyeglasses in a tone if you're speaking in taking a supplemental vitamins. You're NOT required to wear a divine, unique, non 'discount' store kind of eyeglasses. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE discount but wear a pair of eyeglasses that "speak" for your face is somehow necessary. Therefore - THIS store, OMG. Totally loved their collections...I realize that prices MIGHT be a tiffy high but defy worth the investment. Totally.
