And yes, in case you didn't know, while it's called "International", all those nations are in Asia. We come here mainly for two things - either getting ingredients to make hot pot at home, or just eating hot pot here. They also have dry pot, which my wife and I really like as an option. You grab a basket and fill it with whatever veggies you want, then a separate one and fill it with proteins, then you pay by the weight. You can either get it hot pot style in a big bowl of hot broth, or dry pot where they cook it in the broth but serve your food already cooked. As far as the grocery selection, they have a big seafood selection and a decent butcher area. Also a lot of Asia snacks and frozen selection, and a small liquor section too. Produce is fine. But if you're making hot pot at home, they have the sliced meat, soup base, sauces, and a little frozen fish ball self-serve area. If you don't want to eat hot pot here, they serve other Asian hot dishes, and there's a bubble tea spot and bakery here, but I haven't tried anything else besides the hot pot. Sense a trend yet? It's not as big as Joong Boo, and it's bigger than the current H Mart for now but will be interesting to see how the new one compares. Overall it's a fine grocery store and we'll come back when that craving for mala spice strikes.

My MIL has been shopping there for many years and always uses personal check to minimize cost for them (since as you would expect, she knows the owners personally). Even though it is called Oriental, it is exclusively a Filipino grocery store with shelf space for different dry goods and canned items, with a bit of freezer space. It's so close to the house that we've stopped by here in the past to pick up different Ube extract and jam for my daughter's ube cookies.

For a grocery store bakery, I've been impressed with the doughnuts at my local Meijer (although the selection is sadly wildly inconsistent). Walking past the bakery, I did a double take when I spotted these unicorn doughnuts. They looked incongruous in a grocery store and more like something I'd find at a gourmet doughnut shop or artisan bakery. Being a dude, I'm not really into unicorns, but these doughnuts looked too spectacular to pass up. At the risk of being called a girlie man by Arnold, I surreptitiously nabbed one from the display. Not only were the doughnuts coated in sweet vanilla icing, but there was also a thick and colorful buttercream mane. I found the dough to have a nice thick and chewy texture while also being light and pillowy. The flavor was a combination of butter in the body of the dough, along with vanilla from the icing. Unlike some chains (Dunkin), the layer of icing was thick and satisfying and that's before factoring in the extra frosting. I initially went there to request a price adjustment and then asked to purchase a Mega Millions lottery ticket. While I was filling out the ticket, the employee moved to another register to assist a different customer. When I finished, I informed her that I was ready. Instead of explaining the process calmly, she raised her voice and told me to go to the back of the line again . I explained that I have a disability and difficulty walking, which was apparent while I was moving around the store, but I did not feel that my circumstances were handled with patience or courtesy. I speak with an accent , I don't understand why such a rude attitude against me, when she saw me having difficulty walking. why if I have a disability elizabeth customer service wanted for me to go back in line , when I was in line first . I have never had anyone treated me without respect and I hope the store manager sees this posted , and provided appropriate customer human services guidance !

They have a variety of fresh hot soups available. I wish I could remember the names of the two we got but one was all beans and the other had sausage and boiled egg in it. Both were very good. Could have done without the blueberry and cheese blintzes. Was not expecting them to just have full blueberries in them without any kind of jam to accompany them. Made them not as sweet as expected. In that cold section we grabbed a tomato & rice soup thinking we could pour it over the cabbage rolls but the flavor was not good. In the bakery section we tried three items: Limoncello cake slice - awful Rhubarb gooseberry slice - very good Fancy fudge sliced cake - absolutely delicious. The biggest difference between Indian Express and Patel Bros is the size. Indian express is smaller and has less items but still has all the essentials. It's a good place to shop when you just need to pick up a few items. We've been there twice since their grand opening, and the employees are friendly, and items are still well-stocked. There is a distinct smell when you enter the market, but eventually you will get used to it. I am not sure I will stop going to Patel Bros, but I like the fact I have a market closer for any last-minute items I forgotten. Lastly, they do not have prepared hot foods (e.g. puffs, jabeli, rotis, etc.) like Patel Brothers and IndiGo.
